Yes, but you can only change between cat and dog types, you can't change from a cat to a dog. And even if it was the wrong cat icon, that's still a bug since the image in the menu should update when your pet changes.

@wary mason The step "The game doesn't launch". It didn't work. I reinstalled NET Framework and XNA Framework, then I restarted the computer, but nothing changes. My laptop has a medium configuration to play the game. I don't get it. Since I bought SDV (July) I couldn't play it. That's really sad cuz I love this game (I play it on the cellphone), and I want to play it on my computer so bad, specially with my friends. I don't want to give up on SDV. 😫

We've seen that before, not sure we ever figured it out. Good news is SMAPI on its own is safe to use with vanilla players if you want to co-op, and provides automatic backups of your save files, and some crash handling/error logging too. So you can 100% just leave it installed and play as normal that way.
Log would be nice just for data though for sure!

@ionic veldt Once you load a save, open the game menu and click the options tab. In there you'll be able to check if the game is set to the same resolution as your monitor, and change it if not. I'd also recommend checking the setting called Zoom Level. This will let you adjust how much of the game is displayed on screen and may help.

I'd try disabling anything extra, keeping only one service on. if McAfee is expired, toss it. Anti viruses, especially multiple ones running, can really eff up the net protocol for co-op

Awesome! I'd turn on Defender and make sure it works with that, but it was likely the conflict between everything you had running. Make sure to grab a nice ad blocker extension for your browser too, uBlock Origin is excellent imo

(But do make sure you have an antivirus, just not more than one)

Stardew doesn't have multiplayer on mobile, nor is crossplay supported. Everyone you play with will need to be on PC or on the same console type to play together.

There's a file called startup_preferences inside %appdata%/StardewValley on Windows. Delete that file, reboot your computer for good measure, and then try again.

@west carbon that's just how it works in multiplayer. Always has been. If you're interested in installing mods, my Angry Grandpa mod allows each farmhand to get their own.

That I can't tell you. We're SDV community support here. But that's the fix in a case like this - if it's worth doing for you, that's not something we can decide

XNA is not able to start, so the game can't start. When reinstalling the other files fails, then it's something deep in the Windows stuff that the only fix for is to do a reset

I haven't ever used it myself, but someone else I helped with switching hosts on a multiplayer save told me that this worked great for them:

Important: make a complete backup of your save folder before trying anything like this that'll mess with it.

I know I asked this before but SD keeps crashing and then I'm prompted with a msg telling me download lldb. I can launch SD again and play for about an hour but then it crashes again. I am having an issue with multiplayer and the Theater. I am hosting for 3 friends. We just opened the movie theater and I was able to go in and see a movie first day. I didn't take a guest, but one of the players also joined me. We both were able to go in and see the movie.

The next day, a different player tried to take a date to the movies. However, he was not allowed to enter even though he had a ticket. I - the host who had already seen a movie - went over and mashed right click on the door, and for whatever reason that let the other player in. But when he tried to buy snacks the menu wouldn't open, when he tried to enter the movie area he couldn't to in (but we got a "This movie will start soon!" Message) and then the date said that they really enjoyed the movie.

Is this a known issue / something that can be fixed?

We are currently using SVE and the host of mods that make it work. However, when the movies were first introduced I played a multiplayer game with my wife and we had a similar issue using no mods. Host can enter and no one else can.

If you're asking how to turn a singleplayer save into a multiplayer one, visit Robin and build a cabin (or more depending on how many people will be playing), then sleep to save that day. Exit that save to title, then instead of "load", click on "co-op". Use the Host tab to open that same save. Other people will then be able to join

Hey, I received the game as a gift so we could play co-op and unfortunately I am unable to both connect and invite friends as the invite button/show invite/enter invite code are not showing up. Hmm. Yeah that's one of the achievements that has no in-game achievement star, only the Steam one

As long as your SMAPI is configured to launch with Steam, you should be fine in future.

for multiplayer is there any way to keep your character skill levels when you join someones game? Or do you start off new in another persons game?

Nope. All data and data for additional players is stored in the host file. Character profiles (including friendships, skills, accomplishments) are separate to each save game.
