So idk what happened but my game decided to poop out on me and I have no idea why. It's worked perfectly since I got it til now. At first the saving screen that pops up after you sleep would freeze and then not save and now I can't move some of my chests that have halfway disappeared and then the game crashes. Can anyone help me maybe figure out what is wrong? I really don't want to start over unless there is just nothing that can be fixed. No problem. XNA tends to be the issue, or an interfering app, in cases like this, so you may need to try and reinstall XNA/reboot several times and see if that works

@lament karma not being able to use invite codes is a known issue and does not come from the game code. If the guide does not help, it's very likely an issue with a player's internet connection and there's nothing we can really do. The devs have researched the problem extensively and can't find anything in the game code that would cause the issue

It happens on other platforms as well, not just PS4; that's why that guide exists. SDV is built on an older game engine, which is why you tend to only find issues with it and not other online co-op games. You can report it to the forums, but it's an issue that is extremely common :/

if it only happens without Steam: Stardew Valley was relying on Steam to interpret the gamepad, without Steam it doesn't know what buttons are being pressed
if it only happens with Steam: something is hecky in how Steam is interpreting the gamepad and it's resulting in Stardew Valley getting no or nonsense inputs.

This has happened to me before, but in my house with Jack o Lanterns. Try putting something else that produces light where the torch was or near it, then break it and see if that works! It worked for me, and I have a switch so..

Hi everyone - I am trying to play Stardew Valley on my imac with a bluetooth controller. I downloaded steam and it works just fine. There are some mods that I've also downloaded with S MAPI. The controller works perfectly on steam but it's having trouble connecting with S MAPI. I have changed a line of code in Stardew valley .exe file that is recommended as a "Last resort" situation BUT my controller still won't work 😢 Anyone know any other tricks I can try?

It might just create the new folder and files automatically as soon as you load it after changing inside the SaveGameInfo file (and maybe PlayerName_236173126 file)

If they use mods the answer is a very easy debug customize inside smapi console

(this will create a new save folder on next sleep, so you'll then have a PlayerName_236173126 folder and a NewName_236173126 folder. Both will show up on load screen unless/until you go and delete the old one)

I don't know if this goes here, but I can't open SDV. I'm on pc, and it's running from steam. Every time I try to open it, it says "Failed to update (missing executable)". I've tried everything, and I don't know what to do about it. I used to mod the game, but now I can't even open the mods file folder. DM's or tips to solve this are greatly appreciated.

anything related to mods goes in using-mods. But if you removed SMAPI and all the mods, then you need to change steam's launch options; rmember you had to tell it to launch smapi instead of the game to play

There is a bug, every time I go off screen the house looks weird and the money resets. I haven't lost progress yet, but it's dangerous.
My game is Vanilla without mods or add-ons. Note that this only happens to me inside the house, on the farm and elsewhere, there are no problems.

@royal vapor On iOS the game's toolbar is "scrollable" so that you can quickly get to any item without any inventory management. Just swipe the toolbar left or right to move through you inventory :)

Do keep in mind despite how many people play the game, Stardew is developed by very few people. Any software is going to have some bugs, and the more people that use some software, the more likely bugs are to come up. It's practically impossible for every issue to be caught ahead of time.

When I walk past stuff it auto clicks things. This wasn't an issue until the person I was playing co-op with and I both got the magic hat on the same day. It started glitching out by the train tracks and kept making me jump back on the horse then two of the same horse appeared.

I don't know if this is exactly an appropriate question to ask as it's not particularly an issue with the game more than it is my skill at using the character creator screen but I'm trying to get my character to look like a certain character from an anime and was wondering if anyone could possibly help me with the process. getting this bug with naming my horse every day. it only appears the first time i ride the horse and then its normal after that. then the next day i get on my horse it asks for a name to be given or pick a random name again. not using mods.

Hmm. I seem to be having an issue I can't ignore anymore. The game keeps making me feel motion sick. Its almost like the run speed is too fast so the background is almost whizzing by? In this case, it looked like it tried to draw something that wasn't properly loaded into memory; maybe it unloaded it exiting to title and didn't load it back, or maybe it had enough other stuff pre-loaded that it managed to load the save file before the in-game tileset was done loading, or maybe it just did something really weird.

a theory is about GOG servers and not necessarily something exact with steam but it does something weird if you have the same username as someone on GOG
