Fruit trees have to have 2 spaces between different trees. And for each fruit tree, all the 8 squares around it have to be completely empty for them to grow (no grass, floor, torches, machines, crops, anything)

Other trees only need 1 space between. And they grow fine even if other stuff is next to them. But they will stop growing at the last stage if there is any big tree already in the 8 squares around

regular trees need 8 spaces clear, but they can share those 8 spaces. But they grow according to a dice roll

i am having trouble triggering elliott's 14 heart event, i know it has to be a day when there are no festivals for the nect 8 days but it is the 26th of winter and he has been at 14 hearts for the whole season and it isnt triggering . on the 10th of winter it triggered as i left the house but i exited the game before the end of that day because i had to go do something and when i reloaded it didnt trigger again?

no he is still in the house every day as usual, like i said i didnt save after the scene triggered because i assumed it would just replay when i load up again like every other heart event does

i do but i dont think any of the should interfere with it as theyre mostly aesthetic but i will try . i think i will wait until the start of spring to see if it triggers then because it might not work over a season change

(I don't think there is a mod that would mess with this, but it's procedure to check anyway. Maybe a mod like Save Anywhere might mess with it.)

Anyway, I do think your problem is in theory fixable with manual save editing. It just might be tricky to find out what needs to be edited for it to work.

You can't in vanilla. :c
If you use mods, you could use one that changes the look of farm buildings. If you wanted the modded look of a different cabin type, you might even be able to rename mod files and switch which image is applied to which cabin type.
These kinds of mods can be used safely even if the other players don't want to install them.

@rain jolt so you're going to look for a line similar to this

<buildingType>Plank Cabin</buildingType>

Obviously substitute for whatever cabin type you have. Make sure it's your cabin as well. That's by checking the unique ID you are assigned to for your "home building"
That will be by finding your characters name <farmhand><name>YourNameHere, and then going down until you find <homeLocation>CabinStringofLettersandNumbers. Then search that string of the Cabin's ID and find the <buildingtype> within that block. Then all you need to do is change out the type's data and voila!

But only if you had the choice of fruit bats or mushrooms today and you haven't slept in the game yet
You should be able to close the game without saving, reopen and it will reset your choice

Follow the instructions to find and open your save file, then search for <eventsSeen> in the text. After that will be the 65 part, highlight the whole thing and delete it. Save and load up the game and you should get the event again

Hello, I have a problem when starting a coop game with a mod pack in common, it started recently, everyone in the game starts with the same package but the problem only happens with my character (walks very slowly, has the option to run automatically), while the game evolves normally for the others. @misty pagoda there's a mod that allows a "server" style set up, but it still requires a host computer. SDV has no system wide servers, it's all peer to peer. If there's lag, it's from one of the players's connection

Hello everyone, I'm new in the server and i'm looking for a solution to my problem with the game.

What is annoying is that I stopped playing a few months ago, (I play on Steam), I used to play multiplayer with my girlfriend, we both stopped playing, but now when we want to pick up our game there is a problem when it is opening the game on steam,It takes a long time, also when she tries to invite me to her game, a "connecting" message appears and never opens the steam friends menu, the same to show the invitation code.

Sometimes steam opens the friends menu and lets her invite me, but when I try to connect a "Failed to connect" message appears.

I've tried everything the steam and reddit forums say, nothing works.

For instance, a vegetable in a keg will make juice priced at (Base value of vegetable x 2.25). So what's the formula for a gold star vegetable? (Base value of vegetable x+ ???)

Those formulas work for everything, btw, not just crops. Wines for example. Fish too. And if you spawn in with mods an iridium star chocolate cake, it will be 2x the value of a normal cake... the mods don't need to implement it because it's hardcoded into the game already.

If you leave stardew valley afk with the inventory open for too long the game breaks and when you come back it says “Stardew Valley is not responding”. This isn’t really that big of a problem and it only effects dumb people like me who leave the game running for no reason.

So I guess... don’t leave it running for more than an hour... but I wonder if there’s a reason why it’s happening? Or can the game just not handle being left running for a while?

If my hands are empty it doesn't do anything or I have a different tool equipped it uses that tool (chopped down my bean sprout just now testing it😅)

It happened after my first time in the mines, I was playing with the control settings to test them out.

Tried playing with the controls more to fix it but it hasn't worked.

Also tried to roll back to a previous save and it also didn't change anything.

Hmm. Were you trying to water crops on a rainy day maybe? Or that had been planted on water-retaining soul? Or crops that don't need watering (trees, tea bushes, irrigated rice)? Or did you not have watering can in inventory/was watering can empty?

Some people randomly lose or never get invite codes, and we're not sure of the exact cause. If he's able to try from a different PC or from a different network, it might give some clues, but in the cases where the invite codes poof into non-existence, we direct people to use a port forwarding service like Hamachi instead. I believe the devs are maintaining a thread somewhere of people with the issue in an attempt to track it down, so point him towards this section of the forums as well

That's really all the advice I can give you. You have to remember that port forwarding should be used only when playing/needed and obviously don't give out the info to random people. As for steam, I believe that's related to purchasing games under a different regions store; modern wifi uses DHCP as a default, which changes your IP address on every connect of your device :)

Which is why we never recommend playing without an antivirus in co-op. But as I said, if you've done everything in our guide and aren't willing to use port forwarding, there isn't anything else as community support we can offer. It's extremely likely your friend has interference on his end somehow causing the issue; what that is is beyond our scope. Providing more data to the devs about the issue is the best way to help them figure it out, and that means getting players to report it

hello, i think this is where i should be asking. im running sdv expanded and im thinking i messed up by loading a save file that i was playing without the expansion. is this okay? i was playing and it was working, then when i tried to go to sleep the screen went black and game crashed. now i tried to load again and it got stuck on the loading screen twice, third time it worked though.

So, whenever Stardew is set to full screen or windowed borderless the game goes completely black
Music works, I can interact with stuff, it’s totally fine windowed mode, and hitting the windows in full screen makes the game appear but disappears a second or two after the search menu goes away, and selecting the game menu from desktop in borderless or full screen does the same
I’m running a Radeon rx 570 4Gb and a Ryzen 2700

i installed the PPJA mega pack and a bunch of other mods but i cant seem to buy the seeds from Fruits and Veggies from pierre. the seeds/plants do exist ingame since i can see them in the item spawner mod. looked through all the post on the nexus but could not find the awnser. the seeds from other mods (Freshmeat and farmer to florist, ArtisanGoods) show up just fine. also not seeing any errors in the SMAPI cmd thing. does anyone have any idea how to fix this so that they show up?

Ok, per the steam page (https://store.steampowered.com/app/413150/Stardew_Valley/) the minimum OS requirement is Windows Vista, so Windows XP is unfortunately too old to run the game

She's hosting, and every time I try to join her farm my only option is to play with a brand new farmer. Is there any way to play with my saved farmer and join her world? I have a question, this may be intentional but I'm not sure
||referring to pams 9 heart event, I have her at 10 hearts, I've had to community upgrade for years now, yet I can't get the heart event, it seems every day she leaves at 8:30am and returns at 12:30am, before the house is open, and after it closes, if she must be there, this seems odd to have this way, however there is one deveation on the 25th of spring, and I'm wondering if this is a bug or smth, because the heart event won't trigger for me, I've never been In her trailer while she's there so that's what I assume, if so, that would mean the heart event is only acessible 1 time per year? Is that correct or is there a bug, or some other reason I may be missing it?||

It's something that happens on PC at times too, probably has to do with the way Steam/PS/Xbox detect the achievement flags. I would reach out to Sony at it honestly (since it's not the game itself, but their achievement system)

Yes, but it changes the resolution I believe. The regular screenshot button is F11 I believe; that option is new as of 1.4 and is to take a picture of the entire map (something that had been requested)

@sinful sparrow we had someone with the Android no music issue a few days back, it turns out they were missing the obb file.

I first linked them this, which instructs how to delete a faulty file and have the play store redownload it https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/b0syp7/stardew_valley_now_available_on_android/ekdq7xy. That didn't work for them since there was no file there at all. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game didn't help either.

So I uploaded a copy of the missing file, which they were able to download and use. <#archived-modded-support message>

It had worked before for them though. It wasn't always missing.

They had moved all their games on their phone from internal storage into an SD card. We figured that was where things got mucked up and it either wasn't able to re-locate the obb file to the correct location, and/or wasn't able to register it as missing and redownload it

hi, i usually play with a controller (pc) but i couldn't use it properly anymore. the cursor was never disappearing, when i tried to water my plants it was stuck in that animation unless i clicked with my mouse and then it would only water 1 tile instead of 3. so i thought it was bc of my controller, now i'm only using mouse and keyboard but the cursor still does not disappear and it's really annoying, is there a setting that i missed? sorry for the stupid question haha

I vaguely remember having this problem with controller plugged in, and the normal menu settings didn't toggle it like I expected SDVpufferthink Have you tried playing around with the controller style menus setting? I feel like there was a thing where I had to "wiggle" it by turning it back on and then off... (or maybe just off if you haven't seen that setting in options yet!)

I was trying to fish with the fiber glass rod and when I release my mouse to fish it wouldn't do that and got stuck like this I think it's a glitch, is this a common issue? I just got back into the game as of late.

Alrighty. So me and my girlfriend cannot access each other's game. Just bought her it and she's able to get an invite code and all that by hosting in Co-op, but on my end, I don't see the ability to put in any invite codes. I've fully disabled my antivirus software and firewall, that didn't work. I validated the game a few times now. Reinstalled twice, but nothing is working.

There should be a guide to the controls on the loading screen for the Switch. Otherwise there's plenty of beginner's guides on the subreddit, forums, etc

I just got Stardew Valley for the Switch, and I've been playing for several hours, but now I have an issue and I hope someone can help fixing it

I play and go through the day like every day, then when I go to bed, the event of the witch happens and the game closes, I don't know if it's an issue of the objects I have in the coop (I only have a heater inside, I tried taking it off, but does not work), maybe I just have to wait to a new update. Your animals can be attacked at night if you leave the door open.

This will upset them, effecting their products, and I DO beleive an animal can also go missing entirely.
