Hi!
What's the best way to use GI, I was considering honey farm but maybe AF is better?
You can do a honey farm in the bit across the bridge from your big farm plot
It's not mine, got from reddit.
I thought it was brilliant
Uh let me know if I was to post the pic elsewhere instead. I'm just waking up and have forgotten if I can or not..
I am def trying that lol
It's a lot of work but worth it
It's like I think 300+ honey
Fairy Rose of course
And like 2 honey because like 2 hives don't quite reach. But I don't mind
Do you have any recommendations for best ring combos to survive the dangerous skull cavern
I got bodied twice
Uh not sure
It depends on your playstyle I guess
You've upgraded the sword fully?
But I uh like iridium band with either burglar ring or slime charmer.
Sometimes I'd do napalm with slime charmer or slime charmer with burglar
iridium + slime charmer and lucky + burglar is what I use
also ice rod helps a lot in terms of trinkets
and using hammers lol
ice rod synergizes pretty well with hammers
you kill every enemy in one go
I might go back to ice rod
I have two iridium bands plus slime charmer and napalm
My biggest desire is basically to do well in skull caverns and optimize killing enemies
I use the infinity gavel
it's generally better to avoid enemies altogether
I think you can upgrade it no?
no
Ah
infinity is the final version
If you mean enchant it, I did
Been a while since I've played
I gave it its best enchant which is artful
Artful plus infinity gavel, plus acrobat and scut
scout*
well technically you can get the dragontooth club which I believe is better if you're minmaxxing
Yeah I have not lucked out with it
I tried going in forge but so far not good luck when I go through purple chests
it's not better than the infinity gavel to the point where you actively search for it, imo
fully forged/enchanted infinity gavel works well enough
well this is interesting
you know how you can get gifts in the mail?
i got 50 wood from robin twice, is that very unusual?
it was delivered twice, though
You know I probably might switch to just getting a combo based on maximizing loot I get from SC
Parrot seems to do great with burglar ring, napalm, slime charmer, and iridium band with infinity gavel
I mean, if you want money just ignore enemies and bomb/staircase down
fighting enemies is just about the worst thing you can do with your time in SC, unless you have a specific objective
What's the best food to use for SC? SPicy eel still?
I use Spicy eel + espresso usually
when it comes to SC dives
MRC
Second best?
for buffs, spicy eel is great
I use high quality cheese for health/energy myself, but there are other options
yeah and spicy eel is easier to get
I swear the difficulty spike with the shrine of challenge is rough
you'll get used to it pretty quick lol
I probably will only focus on loot and avoid battle
as a tip, since you're using clubs, you can hit the royal serpents in the tail repeatedly without them getting knocked back much
same applies for any weapon, but with clubs you can use this to basically one-shot them
Yeah I been spamming the attack after using special move
and it works well
I think my biggest weakness is fighting groups
even with artful, I get overwhelmed if I don't watch my health like a hawk
I also always try to skip mummy levels because I hate fighting mummies @quiet rampart
Also infested levels too if I don't have enemies I need to kill for lot
they are pretty annoying lmao
if you're getting overwhelmed you can pause the game and think about what to do next
not panicking and staircasing down is the best bet if you're in a rough situation
alternatively, you could eat cheese like a skyrim player and kill the enemies
Do i need to catch more, or will these fill up over time?
I'm having frustratingly little success in catching a second lava eel
I will probably use bombs a lot
I love the dwarf blessing where you are immune to bomb damage
I can just spam and use bombs
you have the book power from the dwarf, right?
the dwarvish safety manual or something
where is a good non-sc place to get 100 bone fragments in a week?
@distant seal if you haven't already, buy the book from the dwarf
Floors 70-80 in the mines
With the Burglars ring
i don't have that
have you unlocked ginger island?
You can do it without too you just have to kill more
nope
literally two apples away
aw well
So close yet so far
you can farm level 70 (71) then
Plus the repairs to the boat
what does that entail, costwise, anyway?
It’s really expensive at:
200 hardwood
5 battery packs
||5 iridium bars||
It’s only 5 iridium bars
15?
i suppose that's not too bad, i've done a few SC runs so that's ok
Not 15
You’re right I read the wiki wrong
only thing i need is the hardwood
is there any difference between flavored and wild honey with the exception of sell value?
I honestly don’t think there is
Yes
I have it too
tbf I notice mega bombs barely damage me
grange can be easy if you're a hoarder
or got money to burn
Yeah I am a hoarder lol
[[Dyeing]]
Id say the easiest items for each color would be cherry bombs/cranberry, copper ore, sap, fiber, ancient fruit, bug meat
I do spaghetti for red and salad for green, but yeah
also joja cola for blue
which is kind of annoying when you don't have jojamart lmao
Which is why i recommend ancient fruit cuz it's a lot faster than..
clicking buy 100 times
Or blueberry if you have them stocked up for some reason
it's more available, cuz not everyone has blueberry stored up
But you know damn well you have ancient fruit
Some people use battery packs for blue (but that's rich people's business)
I have a 1:1 ancient fruit-keg ratio so I don't have any stored up usually
I mean yea but what im saying is you always will have ancient fruit growing
While blueberry you have to store from summer and you typically don't plant them on GI
Just get joja cola from the salloon
And click 100 times? Nah
It takes all of 2 minutes and you're not wasting a tremendous amount of money
Actually 200 times cuz you have to interact and buy
You can do it much faster by using the keybinds
Or controller
Good time to note that you can interact with X and confirm dialogue with Y
yeah it's a bit faster
it makes a lot of difference when you do a lot of it, but the individual amount is negligable for day-to-day stuff
This is Kat's grange inventory
Bro be using everything hard to get
I applaud the effort lmao
Why iridium bar...
And 500 ore
The ore itself counts as purple 😭
Exactly
That's why it's for the memes
The grange has about 4 modes: the poor people mode, the lazy people mode, the rich people mode and the wtf mode
Using blue jazz for blue is a part of the wtf mode
Should've gone with duck feathers for green!
I've been tempted to do some DRS garden pots with regrowth crops for instant grange occasionally
Not a bad idea
Honeslty I just have bought items that I use most of the time
and/or general resources such as ores/fiber
Hello i have a question :
X= tree seed
O=mushroom log
I if do XOXOX
Will the seed be able to grow ? Or should I wait for them to be fully grown before putting logs ?
Of the trinkets, which are the best to use? I've got the Fairy at level 2, and I like it very much, but is there better?
High level parrot can be decent for a little extra money
Magic quiver helps knock away enemies even if it doesn't do much damage
Not sure about the other ones
Ice rod is nice
I tried the quiver, didn't really like how it targeted the "unkillable" bugs in SC
it synergizes very well with the hammer
Ice rod does that too, but it pierces everything
and it does freeze the bugs, at least
for what it's worth
That seems useful then, I got one that I can try
Are there different levels to the ice rod?
levels, no. the stats are variable though
Ah okay
I think a perfect version freezes for 4 seconds with a 3 second delay between shots
now that I think about it, using ice rod on GI is pretty annoying
no, especially when I don't have much to use iridium on
Will do in a bit, probably gonna call it for stardew for a few hours lol
sure, this is normal
Hey uhh i just wanna ask in the november 4 mobile and console update is there gonna be a multiplayer feature on mobile?
What’s the best thing for the dehydrator
Other than purple shrooms probably fruits like blueberries, since they can easily overproduce and it takes too long to process them in kegs or preserves jars.
I don't think so. I don't think CA got multiplayer for mobile, too tricky?
Blueberries and cranberries.
And blackberries.
You can get a ton of those in Fall in three days of the picking season.
Purple mushroom though
If you get some mushroom logs and surround them with trees they can make good money with the dehydrator
Sweet. I've only just started playing 1.6 after taking all of 2024 off. Thanks for the tip.
Gonna go straight into another crazy farm?
Not this time. I'm not going to monoculture. More diversity, much more like my first farm. But it's Riverland, so I'm looking more toward making a prettier farm.
that's fair, lean to the more relaxed side
I mean, greenhouse is going to be all ancient fruit, just for the money. But outside will have a variety. I got lucky with two ancient seeds in the second week of Spring, which I grew outside and have turned the fruits into 18 seeds so far, with another two weeks and 4 fruits to go. I've never started a greenhouse with more than 4 ancient fruit plants. LOL
nice
Yes, it's fine. Only fruit trees need clear space around them
regular trees can't have another grown tree next to them if you want them to grow to max stage tho
it's fine, and it really depends
You can kill stuff for cash but it's generally not worth it if you're not going exspressedly to kill stuff
I'd say frog is bad, arrow is bad, frost is meh (it's aim is shit), fairy is decent, basilisk is decent, parrot is decent
spur is ok?
Would Green Rain countermand that and make everything grow, even so close together?
nah
oh yeah that's the only S+ tier one
ooo shiny hair
I've only just had the one. I'm hearing I missed out on the real fun by going to the saloon to watch everyone freak out. Oh, well. Maybe next time. LOL
do note the first year is the only one with the really out there reactions
so you made the most of it looking at everyone
as they don't really do the same in the subsequent years
Yeah, a friend on another Discord server was telling me the same thing when I asked her about the Green Rain. Only way I would have known. I'm trying NOT to overdo it with the Wiki or in this channel so I can be surprised.
And the Green Rain was quite a surprise, let me tell you.
I'd disagree, frog is great
Cute pet following you around
And it can be prismatic
Hey hey hey, I was talking about practicality, from a purely subjective perspective it probably wins
At least in my eyes
Though the parrot has a certain charm, especially the way it sits on your shoulder
S Tier: Hair Gel
Pet Tier: Frog, Parrot
Questionable Pet Tier: Fairy
Cool Effects Tier: Quiver, Rod
Boring Tier: Basilisk Paw, Spur
lmao questionable pet tier
Couldn’t agree more
Fairy definitely deserves the bump up when the colouring issues are fixed though
I use spur a lot
I also use it for desert festival sc runs
Getting one spotted by mummies is scary
Well sort of scary just makes me much more aware
If only Alex came to the stalls in the desert festival for me...
In other news, gathering iridium seaweed for my aquariums before I update continues to be slow as hell
Still waiting for those tide pools?
I gave the bookman a copy of Woody's book but I didnt get the hardwood? Or does it come in the mail?
Yup. I need about 20, I'm halfway there at end of Y2
Or am I missing something?
Is catching a midnight carp any useful?
I see they produce river jelly if put on a pond
but idk how useful river jelly actually is
I figured it out. I have to click on the wood not the book, I think
Midnight Carp is also used for seafoam
Otherwise if you're for river jelly you can use them as a passive source. Usually better to just fish for river jelly with high luck buff
got it
Hair gel is truly the trinket of all time
During festivals shops are closed. For instance, festival of ice that I skipped occurs between 9am and 2pm. Gus' saloon is this closed for the entire day. Yet npcs act as if it was opened and go have a drink.
It's awkward to see a Shane leaving it while I cannot even enter it. It's like being not invited to a party. I feel undesired.
do we get 1.7
To me, they are not really worth getting in a pond. In a precedent run, I had flounders and midnight carps in ponds to be able to make the seafoam, which is the best fishing bonus recipe. But there are other more simple means to get fish bonus dishes. I still like fishing them because they are quite easy and sell for decent money. Getting iridium quality is not hard(450g with angler, and once smoked with artisan on top, they reach 1260g).
he's probably gonna work on his new game after 1.6 fully comes out on everything
you never know but im pretty sure there's no plans for the near future
idk im fine with the game as it is, 1.6 added many amazing features and i dont really have any more id want out of the game :0
plus theres always mods to spice it up
Is 1.6 mobile out?
1.7 prob wont be out for ages since we only just got the update out on all
Platforms (not even) soooooo
There probably won't even be a 1.7, 1.6 wasn't planned at all at first
You are supposed to get hardwood when trading a book. Your trade got bugged instead.
Nah, she just accidentally sold the book rather than buying hardwood
Ye, same as any other shop interface (e.g. desert trader, Pierre, Desert Festival)
Next patch will remove the ability to sell the book on that screen, to prevent this misunderstanding
Thanks this will be easier to setup then
Is there something special about catching jellies? They just feel damn insanely rare, like its not supposed to be like that. Maybe I can only get them under some special circumstances/times/whatever
Just struggling so much to get some fish smokers
Spent literally 2 days straight up fishing in caves for cave jelly
and got none
They're extremely dependent on luck buffs. You can find optimal strategies foe catching them on the wiki, they differ a little for each jelly
Oh well... Seems like all it takes it to complain!
You should have started complaining before it became an issue
so true
Rainbow trout fishpond should be rainbow colored and have animated water 🗣️
There should be more pond colors, period
There's red, green, and two shades of purple
I think my save might be lucky bc I don’t really have too much trouble getting jellies
And signs
Or even just have it change color slowly if they wouldn't go the rainbow route
Like the prismatic clothes
That could work too
Apparently stonefish is extremely nutritious, we just can't bite trough its raw shell
and thats only gold too
idk how much have you progressed through the game, but Legend II has even higher nutritional value when smoked, and it is available to catch only through Qi's gem quest which can be repeatedly taken.
I was just pointing out the fact u can't eat stonefish, but can eat its smoked version. I doubt u'll want to fish for Legend II as a food source by the time u are able to do so lmao
I think the cave jelly hates me, lmao
I can't catch/find one for the life of me 😭
Worst comes worst they can come out of Lava Eel ponds
Stack as many luck buffs as you can, go to floor 100 of the mines, do short casts, and no matter what do not use the training rod
Thank you!
floor 20 and 60 work as well
100 has significantly higher rates
Lava Eel are rarer than Stonefish or Ice Pips, and there's no algae or Ghostfish to catch
Also you could throw out your line closer to you, which also helps
beautiful
are smokers worth it
Very
smokers are a blessing from God himself. I still regret not buying them as early year 1 as possible
if you loooooove fishing for expensive fish, yeah
and you don't need that many, they process fast enough
I like money so 😋 maybe i will buy\
what are the best fish to put in the smokers
i havent completed the cc
if that helps
havent gotten any legendaries
you can smoke any fish
it doubles the current price
plus it changes it into an artisan product, so you can get another 40%
the higher is the fish quality, the more money will it give, really.
Personally, I tend to keep legendary fish in chest until I buy aquatic sanctuary to put them in there as a mini-flex
should i put my only lava eel into targeted bait
if you're fishing on floor 100 caves then no
in volcano it's worth it I'm pretty sure
ooo
what about stonefish? I have a hard time gettng that one
I get more ghost fish
any fish that's stupidly rare will still be stupidly rare with targeted bait, pretty much
gotcha
it's good for semi rare fish like catfish or sturgeon
Thanks
Super cucumbers and midnight carps are good too. Their schedule can be annoying, but super cucumber gives a lot of money and midnight carp is relatively easy to catch and get iridium quality compared to its price.
I usually smoke anything that is worth more than 300g. If you do the maths it is still profitable with cheaper fish, but I do not want to either spend my time in front of smokers or have 10 smokers.
But agreed, catfish and sturgeons are great too
super cucumbers are nice in that they share the season with sturgeons so it's not all that bad that they only bite starting late in the day. It's pretty chill starting the day off at the mountain lake and moving to the ocean once sturgeons don't bite anymore
Yes that is a very very profitable day if you have nothing with higher priority.
void salmons from the witch path are nice too. Ginger island also has good opportunities but once you are there, you probably have something more important to do.
if i put in a higher quality fish will it come out higher quality? other artisan machines don't do that
it keeps the quality, yes
There is also the night market in winter which gives blobfish and spookfish. They cost a lot. Something that is strange to me remains the octopus. It is the hardest non legendary fish to catch. Yet it gives nothing. It is not expensive, it has no associated recipe, its fish pond is whatever.
Lingcod is by far the biggest asshole of a fish. Gets in the way of legend 2 and sturgeon fishing, costs basically nothing and exists only to make you believe you have a more expensive fish hooked. At least the octopus is only active for a few hours each day so it doesn't waste too much of your time
Yeah but catching an octopus is on par with legendary fish 👀
the cephalopod fears the trap bobber
or level 13
I haven't fished in a hot minute, but isn't squid horrendous too?
I have had mixed luck on scorpionfish.
Sometimes I think it's a sandfish and bam, free scorpion. Other times it's jumping from the top to bottom non stop and I insta fail.
Some scorpion instances can be tame, true
Sometimes the fish are a bit sleepy
With the new artifact appraisal book, the Dino eggs are actually better to sell than turning into mayo
unless you have artisan then the quality eggs are better sold raw
?
That’s what I’m saying. The eggs are more valuable than the mayo
Even with artisan
Only exception is basic quality egg
yeah, thats what i was saying
Pretty cool buff for dinosaurs
fr
A full coop of Dinos can produce 25,200 gold a week
Wait now that I think about it, it’s pretty weird that rancher doesn’t affect Dino eggs
I guess an item can’t have two categories?
Smoked Fish gets multipliers from two
smoked fish=OP
thats not bad
I think I heard that this still only brings them to second-worst profit among animals, up from actual worst
yall my truffle got up and walked on its legs
Kill it
Truffle crab
Drops one or more truffles and one or more crabs (when it's multiple, presumably they're doing the "two kids in a trench coat" gag except crabs in a truffle)
That awkward moment when you collect cow/goat produce with a pail, collect sheep produce with shears, and collect pig produce with a w e a p o n
I just did the math and 1 max friendship sheep with a Golden Animal Cracker produces ~6,132 gold a week
With a full barn, that’s ~73,590 gold a week
wow!
whole ostrich barn boosted with animal crackers is wild
Wait can the scythe use to collect truffles ?
So around 1,177,440 a year
I wouldn't want to swing the scythe that close to my grass feeders
are ostriches worth more then sheep or pigs?
Can anyone give me a rough number on the average amount of truffles a max friendship pig produces a day? I want to do the math for a year and compare to sheep
Some game rant article says 3 but I don’t believe that
Fine I’ll just use that number
Oh, Shepherd Sheep actually beat Artisan Ancient Wine in gold per tile, I read somewhere
dang, ive never considered sheep to be of much worth
So a full barn of max friendship pigs theoretically produces 315,000 gold a week. However, that doesn’t account for rain days
1.6 buffed them
Higher quality wool has a chance of making 2 cloth in a loom. With iridium quality, the chance is 100%
Golden Crackered Shepherd Sheep produce an average of 3.7 cloth worth of wool every day
1 cloth with Rancher (prerequisite to Shepherd) is worth 564g
So a Shepherd Sheep is worth 3.7×564G (2086.8G) average per day
With co-op or profession swapping, you can get Artisan on that. But even without Artisan, it beats crops per farm tile
?????? Shepherd Sheep produce every single day
I was talking about artisan
Artisan Sheep produce every two days
Base is indeed 3 days
High friendship subtracts one day, Shepherd subtracts one day, they stack. Together, they produce daily
Helluva five-o-clock shadow situation going on here
I might make a Reddit post comparing the weekly, monthly, and yearly earnings of every animal when filling a coop/barn. It would be fun.
Didn’t know friendship reduced a day
Man imagine if Rancher affected Dino eggs
Sicarious has done extensive math on this, you can find a lot of posts about it by searching for times he said the word "Shepherd"
sheep is the most useless of the bunch, especially when you have rabbit coop. Because rabbits produce their foot pendants that are universally loved gifts (except for Penny who likes diamonds) and also can sell for big amount of money.
Ostriches with maximum friendship points can give you iridium-quality eggs, and each of them produce iridium-quality 10 mayo jars. If you have Artisan skill, those 10 iridium jars can sell for 5320 gold. Ostrich is worth more than a sheep.
For some reason, truffle counts as "forage" and is therefore affected by Botanist skill, which can make a truffle more worth than truffle oil. So my suggestion would be to keep ostriches and pigs, and replace sheep with rabbits.
One Iridium Dino egg would be 2520
Jurassic Park R a n c h
artisan truffle oil is always better than iridium truffle
also gatherer has more impact than botanist on truffles
Sheep with Shepherd beat every single other money method in the game, if you build for it specifically
I would not do it but I would not call them useless for this reason
it's still not true that truffles benefit from botanist when you have artisan
The truffle oil isn’t even 250 gold more than the truffle itself
The time and resources the oil maker requires isn’t worth it in my opinion
It means I can get away with not oiling them, which is a benefit in a different direction
Though with Mystics being a thing, Tapper has better actual value
Shroom logs aren't affected by Botanist either and you would dehydrate the products from them
Yeah but I’d rather double truffles than mystic syrup costing 250 more
The truffles are produced more often and are more expensive
But yeah, I like that the tapper profession is better now
More options and diversity is always fun
I’m not the kind of person to solely use star/ancient fruit wine and truffles lol
Your parrot is perched on the coffee cup and that's cute until I worry about whether it's, like sitting (or worse) in the coffee
its worth it
If you have staircases, luck hardly matters
Since CA added an exp bar for Mastery, I dont get why he didnt just add exp bars for the skills in general
Or at least make it so hovering over it shows the exp progress
fr
just use the xp bars fn ig
Yeah it feels meh
I am just optimizing my jade shed
Soo I will always have 100 stair cases
Also tips on prairie king minigame?
yes please!
Beat the game normally first so you can get the arcade machine. Then, place it next to your bed. Every time you complete a level, go to sleep. If you ever die in a level, just reset the day and try again.
This way you only need to retry levels instead of starting from scratch
Lol that sounds better than me camping outside the saloon and going inside
I would like to take this moment to brag that I beat Junimo Cart before it was made easier 😌
I find it funny how your tip to get better at the prairie king is to beat the prairie king first lmao
I was assuming they were asking because of the achievement
Hol up!
You can get the arcade machine for yourself?!
I reached Perfection for 2nd time by now and I didn't know that!
Yeah and for junimo cart as well
you need to beat them and you get them in the mail the next day\
A big tip for PK in general is restart if you don't get 15 coins before the first shop
That dmg boost is huge
Do I need to beat junimo kart for perfection
no, it's completely optional to play arcade games
Yes. You can only know how much a book gives you xp once mastery has been reached. Reconverted books(the ones that give a power then become xp tomes if you find them again) only give 100 xp. This is nothing at all, it is more valuable to trade/sell/offer them than using them.
And you have no idea how much xp you need for the next level either - double unknown
I think I won't be able to get a stone junimo
Did the secret note but no stone junimo came
It's fairly well hidden - try running along the back wall until you hit an obstruction then use the pickaxe
Ah okay. Also one more thing, when does Emily usually set up her stand in Desert fest
I have so many calico eggs
I believe it's random who sets up each year
Yep - Wiki says 2 per day, 12 - 12, random
If Emily sets up her stand, does her free clothing service not work anymore
i think sandy mans it instead?
not too sure but i think someone told me that before
Ohhhh
Damn I kept coming back up from SC
What a waste
Yeah - if you're drowning in calico eggs, go big on mega bombs or similar
Which should I do on a very bad luck day that still requires me to get 4 prism shards
tbf I have another week but the bad luck day does suck but I have enough staircases to achieve the 2nd
There's a 1 megabomb difference. I'd go for left unless I was already planning to dive
But on a bad luck day it's not worth it
Fair and I can still keep those megabombs for good luck days
Yeah. It's just not worth the extra cost for +1 megabomb worth of eggs when you'd spend 10x that just getting there, while purple slimes are likely to hug you to death in the first 4 floors
I'm in spring year 3 so this is my second time at the desert festival. I've had Sam as one of the villager shops 3 out of the 6 times total??
What happens if (that is, if it's even possible) you gift the friendship tea at the feast of north star?
nevermind, wiki has the answer
I'm assuming it's not worth it, especially given birthdays
same effect as birthday, actually
Ok, not quite the effect I was talking about. There's a really fun little trick you can do on birthdays
Friendship tea can be gifted regardless of gift limit, is that it?
|| And it gets the birthday multiplier for each one too, yep. 1 Gift + 2 Teas is 8.75ish hearts ||
What triggers the raccoon quest to start?
I’m in the latter half of fall and it hasn’t started yet
|| Initial start is RNG - you need a strong windstorm during the night to destroy the tree. The next day you can repair it, and then the day after the quests start ||
Also i believe you have to have the greenhouse
Ah
yes, you see the raccoon fleeing when the greenhouse being repaired cutscene plays
Release date for Stardew Valley console & mobile 1.6 update: November 4th
A rarecrow vanished. My run that was supposed to be non joja all the way is ruined.
They show up in the Night Market I believe
Once you've unlocked them
Or did it vanish before being unlocked?
Yes it is too far away. If I had realized it was missing before the first night market occurred, that would have been ok, but now I will have to wait a full year for the night market.
I remember even seeing it on sold in the night market. Nope I do not need it, already have it. Well no. I guess it got struck by thunder.
1.6 for mobile out yet?
gang should i finally invest in magic bait
then on the day i get the 3 easy fish catch from statue of blessings i'm using them for my last 3 legendary fish catch
(technically hard, but we'll make it work)
im at the point where im making lists of what to do for perfection- 💀
i can cook everything now atp since i have most of the ingredients
just need to get the banana pudding recipe
😭
two more recipes
poi - need 1 more taro root (GI)
banana pudding - recipe from gus

looking good
Is that Year 1? Because dayum bro
y1
even better
smells like animation cancel
and you're right
TIL Krobus rubs void mayo over himself to moisturise
Is that new dialogue?
well there goes my plan to have him as a roommate, ain't having that stench in the house
Even more funny when you give him void egg and keep talking to him. It is heavily implied that shadow people are coming from those eggs.
But he gives me lucky lunches among other foods, so I am fine with him walking around the house.
lucky lunches are nice but I'm addicted to those speed bonuses
HELLO
i finished my entire museum collection
HECK YEAH
one more stardrop
we fish for that one
yeah it's not too hard
but I also upgraded my tools like 4 times
Hey, I'm on the 1.5 update(Xbox and Switch) but I have a question rq
Are there any new hair styles in 1.6?
I'm just making sure before I make another one, if Imake multiple statues of blessing gotten from farming mastery, will it give me multiple bufs and can those stack?
no
How can you compare a run with and without animation cancel ?
Yes
what are you even talking about now
You tell someone what they did is not too hard then say you also upgraded your tools. But comparing the pace of runs that are played with and without animation cancel makes close to no sense. That is what I am talking about.
I mean, it's not hard even without animation cancel
you have to plan your route very carefully and get a bit lucky
you know what could be a fun change for the legendaries: make it so you can catch one of each every year
it's still rare, but not budget breaking like the Qi quest, and you can keep experimenting with different catching methods and filling up multiple fish tanks
absolutely based!
Legend is such an insane pain in the ass to catch even with boosts and preparations.
all the legendary fish are so painful to catch, i probably just got lucky with all the buffs (i used two bobbers to keep them even if im not reeling them in, and no enchantments either wtf)
I find the most tedious part of catching the legend is finding it, took me like half a day before it appeared
yes
not sure about the horse
why'd you get a dog if you're allergic?
i got it 1 year ago and now i am allergic i found out
I think Krobus sells something called "butterfly powder" to get rid of pets
okay thanks
as for the horse, check in the Wizard's basement, at the shrine
if that doesn't work, maybe editing the save file could
Or maybe, demolish and rebuild the horse stable at Robin's shop? I didn't try that, so IDK.
Personally I would like to see name-tags being a thing in the future, something akin to what Minecraft has - can be fishing loot, named at the anvil and used by right-clicking the animal.
i feel like if they add that itd just be an interactable gui like it already is with all animals except the pet/horse
rather than adding a whole item and process
no
Well - not directly. If you're crazy enough to edit a save (I highly recommend against it), it's doable
i mean you can backup and try it
I've done a lot of save editing to fix things for other people, so I can tell you what to change if you really want, but you'd absolutely want to backup first
Can also swap the dog for a cat
i mean u can do that without save editing now
Without exiling your animal and starting from 0?
(i know what u mean dw)
ah okay i was just curious
Should I set up a mushroom log area with pine trees or just wait until I have foraging mastery for the mystic trees?
Mushroom logs give 5xp on each harvest, I wouldn't miss an opportunity on picking that XP
I mean im already lvl9 but I guess there's always the mastery exp goals
I'd probably test them out with trash trees first before committing to mystic trees
I was just gonna look up a setup
post an optimal setup if you find one please I'm thinking about giving them a try if there's a reasonable enough setup for them
An error was discovered in the mushroom log quantity formula from Stardew Valley! We have fresh math with the corrected formula to see how it affects mushroom farming optimizations!
Thanks to @Sephiloud for finding the discrepancy and updating the Stardew Valley wiki!

1:58 Mushroom Log Calculation Details
2:...
This is a good video summing up everything
And she makes an optimal log+tapper farm in the quarry
But you can probably scale it down
I'd love to turn the quarry into something actually useful
342 kegs 🗿
I don't like kegs tbh
I have three sheds of them and that's enough for me
I like having lots of different things going on
lowk same, on one of my perfection saves i just turned the quarry into a little forrest, I had a visual mod that made the quarry all grassy and stuff so i just turned it into a little aesthetic corner
right now I just bomb the quarry every now and then and that's quite boring. I didn't really think of repurposing it for some reason
I don't build outside of the farm since I always thought it looked ugly but the mushroom log setup is quite nice
yeah i wouldve turned that place into a mystic tree mush log place but that save has been abandoned because i finished practically everything on it
I'll probably just do pines since grinding all the seeds for mystics is slightly obnoxious
Blue are trees, brown are logs
This is only optimal for mystic trees with heavy tappers though. The increase in average quantity of un-processable red mushrooms exceeds the marginal loss in value from having heavy tapped mystic trees instead of mushroom logs
my final stardrop
also it's so cute how willy kinda just takes me in as his child
adorable
still wearing the cosplay LMAO
Should I build a cabin even though it's meant for MP but for it's for SP instead?
tbh i used cabins as storage/for kegs first
before i had enough money for sheds
you're fine
You can, but you can't upgrade it without a farmhand
holy shit 72%
How do you get that?
Also how do u get a perfection tracker
Still early ish in the game ngl
u gotta catch all the fish, i finished them off by catching all the legendary fish in 1 day
then theres other stardrops from the secret woods, krobus, etc.
this is after getting 100 walnuts in ginger island
Ooooo
Secret woods!?
ginger island is after community center too
Omg 💙 I always wondered what he was for
Yes yes.. I’ve heard stuff but I’m not going to ask for details because I’d rather find out myself
Mushroom logs do work in the desert ?
i know they work in the quarry so they should work outside the farm
I am so close to perfection
why did no one tell me another purple shorts will attack me when i get the purple shorts from lewis' secret basement 😭
scared the hell out of me
forsaken undies!
Is this legit still because I can't seem to hoe certain tiles?
I think you can place things everywhere on this part of the island yes
You can still place flowers on garden pot, since they now count for beehouse
It’s legit
And the setup can be even better now that the flower can be planted in pots
How
Put pot down, put flower in pot
one of the changes in 1.6 is that beehouses now work with flowers grown in garden pots
They worded it weirdly by saying flowers could go in pots now when they always could
It was the behaviour with hives that changed
nope, straight to the dungeons with you
NOOOOOOO
My issue is I can't plant in this area
Even with pot
I put pot
but it says I can't plant
Gudbye
You banished milky fishmunk
Banished to the shadows
Yup.
It let me plant in that spot
Is there any real difference between the cheap and the 500k tortoise?
I don't think so.
I think the 500k one can give you iridium
I think I'm past that need.
Presuming it's true, by the time you can afford to spend 500k on a pet, you've got more iridium than you can ever eat.
83%
Meadowlands are a farm for animals right?
At what hearts, do pigs start spawning truffle
yep, you start with a coop iirc
0
Do they find truffles in grass?
In the ground where there is grass?
as long as they are fully grown and the conditions are met (not raining, has space, etc.), they will dig up at least one truffle
no it can be just dirt
yep
see [[Pig#Produce]] if you're a bit confused, I don't think I did a very good job at explaining lmao
Okie ty
Tall grass does impede truffle digging
Pigs need some patches without tall grass to dig, but they don't need many
well better get scything
How far do animals walk to eat grass?
pretty far id say
as long as they can reach it (aka no fence to stop them) they'll try to eat it
It'll be fine so long as you let the animals thin it out a little
oki
Truffles can generate in the grass, it's just that pigs don't actually dig if they're standing on tall grass. So as long as pigs walk over a few grass-free tiles each day, they're fine
The biggest problem with blue grass is that truffles are too well-camouflaged in it.
the better truffles mod is good for that
or auto grabber truffle mod
What is the best enchant for the iridium pan?
"Archeologist" enchantment gives you 4x chance to earn Artifact Troves. In combination with Treasure Appraisal Guide book can give a lot of money.
Hmm okay
Not sure i have that book
I could open some artifact troves or wait for the bookseller and see if I get it ig
I'm in year 4 so it should appear in the shop
what is the best enchantment for the pan
I'd typically say Generous, although Reaching and even Fisher also have arguments in their favour
weird, idk what the issue is then
Idk if my save is broken idk
Weird
Is there a reasonable method to get snake vertebrae in current PC patch (aside from treasure totems i guess)? Previously, artifact spots on ginger island would reroll on tilling the dirt, so you could reload your save to till a different number of tiles until you got it, but that seems to have been silently changed sometime 1.6+
Try Archaelogist enchantment. Dunno if it still works, but it used to be that the bonus roll on Archaeologist was effectively actually random
So you could reset day and get different results each time
https://youtube.com/shorts/Ef8vb7mF8a4?si=LdggkgRhTUbRHj6_ Why does it look like pease
good evening
i just realized i can just make lots of dehydrators
so i did just that
on a shed
so now i have a reason to upgrade that shed
I love dehydrators so much
I just have the worst luck with fire quartz
Currently i got 20 running with cranberries
wait holy crap i was saving up so much of those from sc not knowing what to do 😭
and the mines too
just straight up hoarding my stuff
You can crystalarium fire quartz if you need
So yeah
I'm on year 3 Fall and I've been consistently running my dehydrators on multi harvest crops since Summer 1
Blueberries last for a good while, enough to last until cranberries, and the cranberries usually last through most of winter. Then i get my strawbs from the egg festival, and cycle repeats
A nice passive income alongside my wine shed and animals
I just realized the other day that i can just
Make as much as i want and not stop at two
So now I'm running with 10 of them filled with jade
Dehydrators, kegs, fish smokers, or preserve jars?
it's not about "or", it's about how much of each 😆
a full shed of dehydrators can process almost 700 fruit daily, so you don't really need that many
and I never went a full fishing route for my main source of income, but smoker process fast enough that you don't need many of those either
products from kegs may be more expensive, but they take way longer than jars
it's up you your farming output to figure out your processing capacity
and do you really want to spend half of every in-game day refilling sheds?
they are
except you need significantly more of them to be able to process everything with a large yield
for example, if you had a field of 100 ancient fruit youd need 100 kegs to process it all but youd only 3 dehydrators
despite getting about 2x the value out of kegs its 35x slower to make wine than it is to make dried fruit
Hmm but i don't like to keep reprocessing
One shed of each processor, dehydrator wins hands down. But that's an incredibly artificial limitation, because you can basically always build more machines
What really matters is how much money you get per crop
Processing time just affects how many machines you need to process your entire harvest
no, the delay itself also matters -- if you go full wine and delay your profit by 2 months, that's two months where you had less resources to reinvest into increasing crop yields/automation/advancing other content
Okay, casks are different because you can only have a small number of them
that's very true, and in the super-endgame limit casks are basically irrelevant, but imagine if you could have infinite casks: your profits are now half a year delayed. Perhaps you need money more immediately than in half a year
Usually people have two houses to get more casks and space
But like... if you produce 500 fruit per week on average, you can process that with about 500 kegs, 300 preserves jars, or 15 dehydrators. Additional machines won't help at all.
So while dehydrators are the clear choice in terms of having the cheapest setup cost... they also make about half as much money overall as the kegs once the setup is maxed out.
which means dehydrators are the clear choice before you can manage to scrape together a bajillion kegs
Clear choice for the earlygame for sure
U can get another house?
who would have guessed that a simple, cozy farming sim would end up having such an endgame with min-maxing profits/perday
Keg as much stuff as you can, dehydrate or jar what you can't
the cabin option at Robin's
Over time, the proportion of kegged stuff will steadily increase
it's main use is for multiplayer
you can still build the base lvl cabins without upgrades as a solo player
What's the best crops for each season
more kegs = more better. casks very doubtful
Yes, but also more expensive to get going. So you probably want to use cheaper options like dehydrators while your keg empire is building
Maybe dehydrators are better in different seasons? Like cranberries in fall
you'd need a ton of dehydrators to process a reasonable amount of cranberries
Definitely more worthwhile considering the number of kegs you'd need to process that many cranberries
I think aiming for high value crops is better than trying with multi drop ones like cranberries
It is, mostly because they're actually better
true when you've got good kegging capacity, not so sure before then
Like, Ancient Fruit straight up makes more money over the course of a year than the best combination of seasonal crops
I only grow ancient fruit in the greenhouse tho
Regardless of how you process it
Theoretically, having 5000 kegs or whatever to process your giant cranberry field is optimal.
In practice, fuck that
ok just quick calculation, dehydrators handle cranberries just fine: lets say you plant 200 cranberry seeds. This gives 422 cranberries/5 days, so ~85 crans/day. This takes just 17 dehydrators.
?
I would need to see how many sheds I can fit on my farm because I need one for crystalarium, one for kegs, one for dehydrator, and another one for fish smoker maybe
A brief rundown of the top 10 crops in terms of pure profitability under ideal conditions (i.e. greenhouse or island, pre-established field for regrowth crops, field already covered in speedgro otherwise, etc.):
- Hops (Pale Ale) - 420g/d
- Starfruit (Wine) - 393g/d with HSG and Profession Swapping. Drops to 343g/d with no profession swapping
- Ancient Fruit (Wine) - 330g/d
- Sweet Gem Berry (Raw) - 212g/d with HSG, Agriculturalist, and eating +4 farming food before harvesting, and purchased seeds. Drops to 144g/d if using seedmaker to acquire seeds.
- Pineapple (Wine) - 180g/d
- Blueberries (Wine or Jelly) - 159g/d
- Cranberries (Wine) - 133g/d
- Pumpkin (Juice) - 130g/d with HSG + Profession Swapping. Drops to 112g/d with no profession swapping (Not accounting for giant crops, which are a major boost but difficult to calculate)
- Strawberries (Wine) - 129g/d
- Rhubarb (Wine) - 118g/d with HSG + Profession Swapping. Drops to 103g/d with no profession swapping
this is profitability per tract of land, which is basically never the limiting factor until you're batshit endgame
I'd disagree on that
😭😭
Several farms have quite limited growing space
I'm on meadowlands yep
The sketchier thing is the presumption of unlimited processing machines
That is lategame
But ultimately, the sandbox farm optimisation endgame is the only time that you can really calculate general profitability
Before that, it's so heavily contextual that generalising is impossible
Simple version - that table tells you what's best
Rhubarb strawberry
But if you can't have what's best, you have to make compromises
Gotta say, meadowlands isn't exactly my favourite for farming.
I'm on year 2, but still no dinosaur egg
and focusing heavily on animal produce is just kind of prohibitively expensive early game, even with the headstart
try skull cavern? Should get one on a dinosaur floor pretty easily. Pack a lot of staircases.
A full field of blueberries is better than the starfruit seeds you can't afford
Dried blueberries give more money and takes a day to make them 👀
They give less money per fruit
Standard rule is process as much as possible into the highest value artisan good (per crop), use cheaper/faster processing for the excess
Yeah dehydrator I use when I have a crazy excess
And need money
Is there a good hopper setup
I don't exactly fully understand them
Also I am so close to perfection
Noice! Hope you complete all the stardrops soon!
Which one you missed?
You cannot walk through Hops at any stage of growth. Hops take time to grow, but once they are, they give 1 crop per day. Hops are fermented in kegs in 1-2 days, meaning they take less than a quarter of the time required for wine. They demand a daily attention to reach their full potential. They take more time per day than watching for higher value crops that will generate once every week and be processed every 10 days.
They are good, but they are time comsuptive.
No, not hops
Hopper
Also I am at a point where since I bought the golden clock, I don't have any other things I need to buy that are expensive
Use stardrop tea to boost🤭
Yes you can gift an infinite amount of stardrop tea per day
I have a question, is it worth trading golden mystery boxes for magic rock candy
or should I just open them
I think you will not find anything very useful if you have all the gold you need. I would trade them. SC runs are more fun than opening shiny boxes.
Makes sense yeah and I do enjoy SC runs. I just need the dangerous mines achievement
I guess I can focus on decorating my farm to the max once I am done
well since I am done with money making
well I still well focus on money but just to make things easier
Dont you have any stardrop tea ?
I have one
But I am not married yet
I am waiting until it rains
I could use a rain totem but I don't feel like rushing it
Ginger ale or espresso
?
Which should I pick
for very good luck mining days
I like to use ginger ale when the statue of blessing gives me speed
otherwise espresso
But it is worth giving a try to both
A lot of luck means a lot of staircses, meaning you do not need to move around
It should balance out, but it remains rng
If you enter a level without any rock around, you need to go fast
fair yeah
but if you have staircases, who cares
I think I should use all my staircases in one run right?
Yeah I have over 200 staircases
kek
and with the crystalarium shed making pure jade, it just works
Yes do as deep as you can
Some people use their staircases right away, other like to only skip levels that are bad
I mix both
I notice I get good results when I at least staircase to level 100
and then use them whenever
I think spending everything right away gives better result. Depends how you like to roll, yes
Having stairs in reserve for infested levels is great.
Or you can drink oil of garlic to avoid the infested floors
I'm not sure that works in SC
(Checks wiki)
Oh, it doesn't work in Dangerous Mode SC. Okay. It still works in regular SC
it does
That'd explain why I still ran into infestations and flier hordes when I tried it
And it doesn't remove all enemies like in the mines
Just swarms and infestations
Oh it doesn't work at all in the dangerous versions?
Good to know
Ye, now I get it
So happy it’s coming to console
Yeah I kept it on dangerous for SC
Wait is there any other advantage to Dangerous SC besides radioactive ores
not really
unless you are going for treasure chests speed is always better
is there a recommended order to take masteries in?
No, choose the one you'd personally benefit more from
Most folks recommend Farming first.
Even that is negotiable depending on circumstance (I got Mastery in winter, so I didn't have a lot of crops for the Iridium Scythe to harvest)
Farming, then mining. They both help developing, while others are more like bonuses
That's why it depends on personal need, if you're at a point you don't need to develop more, then these are not always a priority ^^
That is true. It depends how early you had mastery. If it is year 1, I recommend that order. Both statues make your daily routine better and make your work/time more efficient/valuable.
Now if you do not have enough moss and have nothing to harvest and it is winter, farming first is indeed questionnable
I'm probably wanting something that may help speed up diving in the sc so i can get to the island, farm i probably wont expand too much more from here
I'll have a read of everything properly when i go back on
Mining statue sometimes gives more chances to get staircases.
Statue of blessing sometimes gives speed or luck boosts
they both help in your case
Heavy furnaces from mining are really good to make the most of your ores
oo, I'll read those first, thank you
Mining is also coincidentally probably the fastest EXP source for getting more Masteries
Iridium ore nodes are worth a jaw-dropping 50EXP each
A deep delve may have you smashing hundreds of them
oh nice
I don't know whether it's winter in your game, but if it is... do try to get Farming Mastery by early spring, that scythe really is no joke
it's spring
got my last level during the desert festival
Ooh, of course. Calico egg nodes are also 50EXP and they're hecking everywhere during the desert fest
Oh wait
mining and farming masteries will contribute the most to getting more xp which means you can get the rest faster
You mean your last regular skill level, huh
Oof
Then maybe farming is worth considering first after all
do you get more exp for harvesting with the scythe? because it doesn't take that long to harvest the farm space I'm using
It's more about the time you gain by doing it
more time to do something else means more xp
no
but it's much quicker to harvest big fields with it
The EXP is tied to the crop itself, so the scythe is just the superior option
It does let you do 5x5 blocks of trellis crops around a sprinkler without junimos though, it has a longer reach
oh that would be useful, i dont normally plant that many trellis plants with them being impassable
Yeah - 3x3s are obnoxious, but a 5x5 is 96% density and you can just walk around it swinging
Bigger value in modded where there's a lot more trellis crops though, but it still makes hops and grapes easier in vanilla
Even in vanilla there's something else funny that it enables
The scythe can reach every garden pot in this photo
Dx Retaining Soil means they don't need rewatering
Pineapple time
(I ran out of clay before I could try this properly myself tho)
even if you didn't set it up with dx retaining wouldn't an iridium can reach everything too? (though i would imagine that it's not worth trying without using dx retaining on it)
It would.
And yeah, efffff that hassle
It would but the point is to have it basically ready for harvest right when the previous batch finishes
Without having to actually check in on it beyond what, once a week?
that's true, low effort but high reward
If you are willing to vandalize the overworld (more) with kegs, you can replace all the kegs here with more garden pots. This setup is to allow the kegs to partially piggyback on the higher-density layout that the scythe enables
there's space on the farm that I wont get round to actually farming because lazy i guess so i could just place them all out the way but still on the farm
I worry about placing something in the wrong place and finding it missing bc i left it in someones pathway
Or fill it with more sheds with just kegs as a brewery
that would probably be wiser
though i wont go as crazy as that all sheds photo that was shared in seasoned farmers
If you get a perfect 50:50 ratio, I think Ancient Fruit has basically perfect uptime (7 day cycle for fruit, and 7 day for wine I believe?)
that's what I've done previously, had my greenhouse full of AF and a shed with kegs i only went in when the fruit was ready (i always forget what day harvest day was meant to be and they were planted on different days)
I wonder how Demetrius manages to setup the fruit bat cavern while it is completely surrounded by impassable rocks on the meadowlands farm.
Magic - It's also instantaneous. (And the bane of debugging things that require money)
It's less a bug than a map design issue to me. Meadowlands farm is really special. Water access is further than in other maps. Cavern is unreachable from the start and far away. I suspect Demetrius to have direct access to the cavern from a trapdoor hidden in the mines. I would not be sruprised he watches me sleeping at night.
Real talk i hate that the cave is there
It's so out of the way compared to the other farms
More so that any time you're trying to debug something related to money, as soon as you cross 25k, he shows up and ruins your day with an unskippable cutscene.
The cave is so insignificant later on that I do not care enough honestly
I like Meadowland but it has teeny small bits that make me like it less
Agreed. Meadowlands is beautiful but its design is meh
Fair enough honestly
I grabbed my dehydrator in summer Y1 and haven't been back there since
Went with the shrooms cause remixed bundles didn't have Artisan for once
The free dehydrator basically makes it the superior choice
Remixed bundles are a wild adventure because either you have one different thing or a hellish bundle you never want to complete
I don't even think about bats because you need to buy trees anyway
You also get some from the ticket machine
But to be fair there's mushroom logs for the mushrooms
But the dehydrator is nice
stardew valley made me hate apples
I fought with my life for a single piece of iridium for Y1 CC
Because i both got Mechanic which needed ore, and the red cabbage was replaced with an iridium bar
And that was when the skull caverns were equal to hell for me
I also lucked out on the Traveling Cart selling a Scorpion Carp once so i only had to fish for 1 difficult fish for Master Angler
So i just unlocked Ginger Island, and i'm not sure how to efficiently go about doing it.
I just started Winter Y2 for reference, so i should have more days to go now, right?
I mean yeah, that's what i did too
Waited for Winter Y2 when there was less things to do, but that was just a personal thing
I don't think you need to do it "efficiently" in any way
Quite the opposite even, I loved discovering all the secrets and solving the puzzles on GI
But to each their own
Hmm
i suppose its just a matter of taking some tent kits with me and keeping track of when my crops are ready to harvest.
RACCOONS GAVE ME A SALMONBERRY
I can actually pull off the Ship All Items achievment this year and not have to wait for Y4 (yes, I never sold a single salmonberry in 3 years)
Damn
They are my precious as well
Huzzah. (Yeah, they're too good for energy and gifts early game, then generally worthless to pick up later)
It's a great way to power-heart Linus for all those good recipes
All I'm missing now is an ostrich egg and a radioactive bar
And Robin and Demetrius and many others
Naw cuz like I always give Linus the good stuff like leeks gotta look out for him
Blackberries are also liked by many
I mean, he loves his berries - I just give him lots of nice forage.
Nah leeks are for George
I give Linus my other forageables that are higher quality
Give that man all you got
I thought Linus was the easiest to make friend with, but Evelyne is really easy too now that she likes sea stuff
does quality matter?
Yes
You get bonus points for quality
She likes broken glasses I got a boatload of that shit
This is why gifting diamonds is overrated
Yeah, more friendship points
diamonds do not have quality
It's funny how you can just keep giving Evelyn broken glasses and she keeps going "oh you found my reading glasses"
The dementia is kicking in
botanist and gatherer are so strong to make friends. But for so many other things too.
Or she's just like Velma and keeps losing her glasses
I mean she is quite literally melting in her portrait she can't even keep her eyes open
Deluxe bait into crabtraps for quality broken glasses is THE optimized strat
I wish the foraging professions didn't basically push you to only ever make one choice (If you're not going 2x harvest chance + Iridium Quality, you're basically doing it wrong)
But the inventory bloat without Iridium just makes any other option terrible
Yeah the professions are not quite balanced
Really hoping HC will be more balanced overall than SDV
Yes the profession choice path has close to nothing to do with your strat. When you know what you are doing, there is no choice, just many bad ones and one that beats every others.
