Since most people here evidently don't know what's going on with 1.6.9, I'll try to explain:

1.6.9 is an update that is not only fixing a bunch of vanilla game bugs (weird audio glitches, npc's thinking paths are obstacles, the doubling fish pond produce exploit, etc.) but it is also fixing and changing a bunch of stuff on the modding side, which takes considerably longer to do. It's similar to Stardew Valley update 1.5.5 in a way, which also took a few months to release. There's also a 1.6.9 beta open right now. So 1.6.9 will be released; it's just taking a while because of the scope of the update.

Yes, quite a considerable number of vanilla game bugs are still in 1.6.8, but unless someone is playing Stardew for 6+ hours a day, they will probably notice very few if any of them. All of the "obvious" bugs were patched out in 1.6.1-1.6.8.

That's interesting. It sucks that a modding-focused update is apparently holding up the porting process. I don't really see why the modding related stuff can't take a backseat until the game is stable and the ports are prioritized, but I suppose those are just the decisions that have been made.

All I know is that the plan rn is for 1.6.9 to release, and then once any hotfixes resulting from that patch are made, to port to console and mobile asap.

Based on precedence, it shouldn't take more than a few weeks once 1.6.9 is out for console to get the update (unless there is a complete rewrite for Switch like there was for 1.5 Mobile).

I can understand your frustration with waiting for the latest update to come to a particular platform, considering I was a mobile player up until mid-2023 lol. But CA will surely update if there's anything new.

True randomness is not possible to the best of my knowledge with computers, now there's all kinds of stuff you can base a random number generator off of that can make it seem completely random, but fundamentally randomness is nearly impossible with computers. For example, some programs will do the time down to the millisecond and then multiply that by The day month and year, and then divide that by whatever you need to to get a random number in the range that you're looking for, So in that case, in order to be able to predict the outcome of this random number generator, you would need to know the time down to the millisecond and the day, month and year along with whatever that number it's dividing that by

Now I have not looked at the code for how stardew Valley in 1.6 is doing its random numbers but I suspect they've done some pretty complicated stuff if it's been 4 months before someone's gotten a predictor running, or it could be extremely simple and no one's looked at it yet

Someone gave us some more detailed info yesterday, about how things have been silent because development is working on 1.6.9 and it's a PC patch to fix lots of bugs and help with mod support. The port waiting part is just a logical conclusion due to how the porting process works-- can't finish and submit the ports for cert until the PC build is completed, and the PC build won't be completed until the patches are pushed

Tho, personally I use two of them, one with 3.6s cooldown and 3.3s freeze or something, and the perfect one

The slight delay between freezes is good against enemies with IFrames
