If you focus on raising animals like pigs for truffles, the blue grass is really helpful and it’s pretty nice getting a coop for free. Also is a pretty big farm with a lot of space.
Forest however is my personal favorite farm so that’s a hard question for me to answer.

Everyone likes different things, you should pick a map based on what you like. So what do you like in the game? There are beach and riverlands map if you don't care about farming that much and enjoy fishing, forest farm has a focus on foraging, hilltop focuses on mining, wilderness on combat (altho I think you can do that on any farm now), meadowlands for ranching, and then finally there's four corners if you like a little bit of everything

This ranges from pointless (Carp frenzy), to possibly useful for cooking (Squid or Sardine frenzy), to big bux (Catfish, Sturgeon, Super Cucumber frenzy)

My understanding of how it works is...

When you cast your line, the game puts all possible catches in a list, shuffles them like cards in a deck, and then evaluates the bite/no-bite RNG for them in order from top to bottom. Certain special catches (e.g. legendaries) will always be at the top, so they get first dibs on your hook; certain other catches (e.g. trash) will always be at the bottom so you only snag them if nothing else bites first.

1. The target's bite success chance ratios (Spawn Rate and Locational rate) will be increased by 66%.
2. If your target isn't the first thing to bite, the game will continue down the list (starting over from the top again if necessary) until either it does successfully bite, or three other things do. Trash has a 100% hook rate, which can limit your chances; if it makes it down the list twice before getting your target or three bites, it gives up and picks the most recent thing to bite (which will be trash, since that's always at the bottom)

So it's not just that Sturgeons have a 66% higher chance to snag your line; the hook will skip other fish looking for the Sturgeon

Since, like... If you have a 66% higher chance of hooking the Sturgeon but don't also reduce your odds of catching other fish, the resulting difference would be comically small

Let's see, when I check the mountain lake on a sunny summer day, there are six possible catches. Under the simplified conditions of having every fish have an equal chance at your hook... If we increased the Sturgeon hook rate by 66% and did nothing else, the result would go from a one-in-six (16.7%) chance at the Sturgeon to a 1.66-in-6.66 (24.9%) chance.
That difference (8.2%) wouldn't be worth sacrificing a fish for, so... Yeah, it does much more than that to compensate
