I like not having to worry about healing, but it's also convenient when the quiver takes care of enemies for me

It can possibly get you some fruit that would be difficult to get otherwise, but I would absolutely not count on it for the three apples in the fodder bundle (the fruit bats only rarely give tree fruit). So I'd still strongly recommend planting an Apple Sapling some time in early to mid Summer.
At that point I'm not sure how much of a benefit the fruit bat cave gives anymore anyway...

Shroom cave gives a free dehydrator. More money opens a lot of doors, that early on. Such as just buying that sapling.

With the fruit bats, I suppose it's not so bad to get a pomegranate for the enchanted bundle or some other tree fruit for the Artisan bundle. I feel like I've seen random tree fruit often enough from the traveling cart that I'd still find it more useful to get the earlygame money boost from the shroom cave though
