idk if it's just me, but it's the first thing I noticed when I first upgrade my hoe lol
it stays in this frame for a bit longer im pretty sure
I think I understand why
It might be to give you more time to charge it? I don't really know
When the tool is unupgraded it doesn't wait for you to release the click and just preforms the action no matter when you take your finger off
so if you are fast enough on the release the wait will be negligible then?
is it my computer lagging and making that delay? that would be funny
And when it's upgraded it waits because obviously it does, multi-tile reaching wouldn't be possible without it
Exactly! I think that's why I don't notice it, I mastered timing my clicks for all tools
yeah it's probably that, and it's just the way I click ig lmao
so I guess it would only be a problem for me
luckily we don't have the option, so no problem š
Do I need an incubator?
No
What option?
you might get a void egg drop and want to hatch that egg, so yeah
reaching on the pickaxe! that's how this all started š
Just make egg into void mayo and call it a day
Same for dinosaur and ||golden chickens||
I'm not talking about actual gameplay, I'm going to get the Deluxe coop anyways
"Just sell the ancient seed instead of turning it into more ancient seeds"
right, the only way to get the golden chicken is from the egg....
Look at the picture again in a "Okay, this is a joke" perspective
Animal neglect be like
That's a great question
Didn't even notice Lul
Cause she's incubating the egg herself <3
Axe just oneupped me on coop joke
It can stay there
the incubator is getting incubated
sorrry, I did not notice that after looking several times at the pic...
another new layout
slimed tho
only 5 people left until I'm max friendship with everyone
This one is the oddest to me for some reason
I'm pretty sure that one has rails, usually
I've seen that exact shape but with rails going through the middle
Does Iridium Scythe also harvest forage items/Truffles? I'm making sure before I delete my Scythe mod.
Don't think so
Nope, at least not yet
Sadge. Only remaining reason for me to keep the mod. Using a Scythe to smack all truffles/foragebles around me is very enjoyable.
Yeah, I really hope CA adds this because it makes no sense why you wouldn't be able to
HI
HI
UHHH SOON
Never.
3-5 business days!
Bet.
Nah CA said it's his top priority rn
Itās been 3 weeks
Heās updated the pc version already tho
let's find out! @conc- *gunshot*
Think about it this way: PC is testing and receiving all the bugs so you can have the clean experience after they're patched
But I want the bugs
So it will be easier
For real. It'd be nice if CA can add that also to the Iridium Scythe in another upcoming patch.
š
I know, I meant it's his top priority to port it to rhe rest of the platforms
What other platforms is there
Ps Xbox
Mobile, PS, X-Box...
Steam switch
Yeah so those 4
Mobile.
ah yes, trying to get golden scythe and magically warping to floor 7k of the skull caverns, incredibly useful bugs (nothing works that far down)
Nope not mobile they donāt have the ginger
They do
When?
Bro's not up to date
Like a year ago or 2
Not on Apple
"mobile doesn't have movie theater yet"
All mobiles got the 1.5 update a year ago no?
mobile 1.5 release date was sometime jan 2023
just a tiny bit late
Pfft
It doesn't? Maybe. But I know for a fact they have ginger island
that's on pc
nonono i was kidding
I just checked on the wiki something that was added in 1.4 lol
Latest mobile version as of late is 1.5.6
All platforms should be getting 1.6 (if not 1.6.4) soon
Iām downloading it
Just wait
The 1.5.6? XD
Yeah that's the current version
6 January 2023 for android
they're askign about ios
Actually no, the current is 1.5.6.39
Yup
:0 multiplayer
Still 1 year ago
:0
Bro's living in the past
I got switch

I didnāt know it had for iOS
Wait switch doesn't have multi?
Yh
Aw dang
It does
Oh
I play with my friend and bomb his plot
sam just quickly changes clothes to accept my gift and then just changes back
"Aw, yeah! This is my absolu- oh wait a second"
Speedruns taking his clothes off and putting on new ones
"Absolute favorite! "

lmfaoo exactly
Hehe so cute
Bro heard bomb and appeared
Indeed
How get rank tho
By being active in the server
Oh
The more you talk and engage you level up
Just keep talking you will get there
La La La
Not by spamming tho
What do when u get there
Oh cool
you get a notification and the role is automatically applied
I guess the seeds sprouted before they died, there was a lot of dead plants and all my fields stayed tilled. Got everything replanted by 12:30 AM O_o
You just spoiled how I die
not sure if its new new but a truffle i went to grab just. turned into a crab like a rock crab??
:0
Yes it's new
whats the most optimal way to get alot of moss during green rain? i wanna save upp to 333 moss so when i get mastery i can get the statue
Cut down weeds to obtain moss, and be sure to look out for moss growing on trees, as this is extremely common during this event. After the Green Rain ends, the new trees and weeds will disappear the next day so be sure to get it right away
guarenteed at least once per summer, but can only occur in summer
The Sacrificial Parsnips method!
So like do you think I can get 333 moss in this one day?
I like it pretty well, but I never do lots of outdoor crops on the main farm
I've seen many use Meadow and River lately, call me old fashioned but the standard farm is my favourite, the four corners is nice too with friends
I'm recommend jsut having load of trees planted. Cause moss rain will cause more moss to spawn I think?
yes I still think this, just dedicate the day to it and scythe all the things.
Yeah just go crazy with coffee and other speed boosts like Spicy eel and just cut it all up
you can always reset day too if you fumble too much, guarentee you get as much as possible
I forgot to gather all my moss at the end of fall.
Turns out I already had a 999 stack, just in a different chest, so I was good
How do you get the advanced iridium rod?
Fishing Mastery
If it's the first year, I even recommend playing through the day twice.
Once to visit all the townies and see how they're reacting to it, and then reset to go harvest all the moss/fiber/fiddleheads/timber you can get
Challenge Bait recipe and a 25% chance for a fishing treasure to be replaced with a golden one that can contain way better stuff
Yo, friendos!
Can I post something funny I saw from the quest board here?
Is it the super cucumber?
really wanna get perfection on this save so I can start a meadowlands farm save, I really like that farm type
Before I go to sleep, is a reward granted for getting all masteries?
yes
i got a quest from robin while she was building a coop
3 rewards per mastery
@dry lance
Nonono I mean if I get all of them
No
Are you sure? Leme check the wiki
Jodi is desperate
Apparently a hat is the reward for all
you just have all of them
I didn't get a hat
maybe from the hat mouse?
no, there's no achievment
appears to be on the pilar
might be an SVE bug leme double check not 100% sure I clicked on it
Yeah it should be on the pillar
Oh, the reward for mastery is a hat ||but you can't wear it; it's an environmental prop, Grandpa's nightcap||
Also you get a pat on the shoulder ||from Grandpa||
Yeah I thought so
real
I dunno what it is... The Meadowlands farm just ain't jiving with me. Others may like it, and good on them if they do... but I think this one's joining the Wilderness farm in the "Never Trying Again" pile...
You have to look at your farm every day, so aesthetics actually do have value
Where's the "No, cats are objectively better" option
Exactly
And this doesn't really apply is SV because kids are free appearently but kids are expensive so I would need to be in a pretty good financial position to want one IRL
I often wish you could decline Elliottās offer of booze in his heart event. Last time I was like, āDude. I am pregnant, and my husband is right over there. This is so very inappropriate!ā
isn't that his 10 heart event though
That's his 4 or 6, I think
To your doooooom!
Lmao
hey at least he orders you wine instead of Ale
Don't think I've actually seen Elliot's events
is that better? I don't know much about Alcohol contents
It's still definitely not something you want to give a pregnant person
well yeah obviously lol
SDV pregnancies are clearly not comparable to IRL pregnancies though
At least it doesnāt seem to cause birth defects in Pelican town. All my children have been equally stupid.
don't even get me started on how you can get pregnent, transition with the shrine, and then you're suddenly adopting a baby
For one thing, they last 2 weeks... which is the equivalent of like, 1.5 months
āØImmersionāØ
they do seem to not grow up past 2 y/o either
although so does everyone in pelican town....
Oh man, oh Yoba, oh man, oh Yoba, oh man, oh Yoba! What's wrong with this raccoon family?
Maybe in a future update we get older kids
gata curb the competition
Indeed. Granny and George are clearly immortals. Makes you wonder what really happened to old grandpa.
I blame the farmer who moved in and immediately started messing around with the local mystical nature spirits personally
Since that seems to be when everyone got frozen in time
well I went joja so that doesn't work
(SVE joja route is fun don't yell at me)
You still messed with the junimos at least once
Joja probably polluted the environment and messed stuff up
You need to to unlock Community Dev Form
hmmm
In this run I am probably going to be roomies with Krobus and buy several pets
Although I don't think you actually need to drink the forest juice strictly speaking?
correct
And put cute hats on them
You just need to avoid ever entering the wizard tower
Not being able to be roomies with Krobus while having a spouse is the biggest crime this game has commited
until I spend the 5k gold
Don't you still get the forest juice cutscene?
no
i just got to ginger island, where do i get a walnut from, there is no where to go
Neat
Didn't you just see a kid run off somewhere?
yes i sewe th ekid in the hut but i cant speak to him
I at least appreciate the addition of this means for aces to get a stardrop.
just finished perfection, maybe now i'll complete one of the harder challenges (the arcade games)
Did you not see the nut in the bush on the way to the hut?
yeah but i cant interact with it
I am terrible at the arcade games and mostly ignore them. clicks Skip in Abigail heart event
non of my tools do anything to it
Have you tried just right clicking on it?
yea lol
can new crops be pickled or kegged?
omg ive been cliking this for ages and then u say and it works lol cheers
i got yelled at by her so bad it was funny
sorry maāam. iām not a Pro Gamer
Personally I just embraced the classic "spouses are decor" vibes that I've been running with since I was a kid playing the sims
Their purpose is to match the furniture and general aesthetic of the house
I could feasibly marry someone, obtain stardrop, and divorce them and make them forget
But I think I will just move in Krobus. Heās cool
which item is missing here ?
just stole robin's jackolantern
Love that this is an option
Thank you
Mystic trees have a very low growth rate. Tree Fertilizer will help (but not bring it all the way to 100% like with the common tree types)
for some you get the recipe not the thing itself
oh wait I didn't update chat
Replied to something old lol
How often does this game get content updates?
By default, Mystic Trees have a 15% chance to grow to the next stage each night during Spring, Summer, or Fall
WOW that is way smaller than I thought it would be
More often than it should 8 years after release haha.
To a lesser extent than any other tree
Only brings it up to 30% iirc
I added the info the to tree fert wiki page so it should be there
nice
whatās the best mastery perk to pick first btw
Farming still IMO
They arenāt too bad
You get multiple on a single sc trip basically guaranteed
Itās actually a tad annoying
can you find them in the regular/volcano or no
iāve been trying to grind cinder shards but i keep getting bodied by those stupid fire sprite thingies
Trinkets do drop a fair amount, but its why the iridium trashcan is for. Just salvage any non-perfect/upgrade one.
just found a volcano floor with 2 rare chests
me like 90 hours in with my copper trash can and gold pick:
wtf
i have like 50 iridium bars too i just hoard shit
ice rod i think is the only worthwhile one u would rly want
dont think u can find it in volcano
Hoarding is normal. I have 200 iridium bars on my 1.6 save. Radioactive is still a problem.
You can. I found a perfect ice rod in the volcano.
i want to get to lvl 100 without totally relying on staircases, i finally@got a sword w crusader and i still get bodied
Combat is a trap
i kinda feel like keeping rabbits is pointless now w that thing
do u have galaxy sword?
yeah
and just spam a lot of food to heal
3 galaxy souls
I dunno what that is
Megabombs are king for the deep SC dive without stairs
Don't fight the monsters unless absolutely necessary
wait are you doing regular SC or harder SC
regular lol
i get farther on the festival days but idk if that counts towards the goal?
sword for defending
You can get galaxy souls from upgraded dungeons (Qi quests) or trading 10 radioactive bars on the island on the last day or each month.
it do
Just spam bombs, eat food, and take any shaft or ladder the moment one's available
oh cool
yeah i feel like my weapons are kinda shit but theyāre the best iāve ever gotten
my dwarf hammer has slime charmer or whatever it is and +2 speed
its my first time getting them
its been like 6 or 7 weeks since i unlocked the walnut room and ive yet to see either the dangerous mines or skull cavern quests
this is so cringe
idk how to get the pirates to appear and itās bugging me
@surreal scaffold You leveled up to Cowpoke. You can now speak in our voice channels and share images in all channels!
ooh
so you have to go at night on even days?
i kept checking when it was raining for some reason
Even nights specifically when not raining IIRC
yep
cus yknow those pirates. theyre rlly worried about rain when they party indoors
lol
Too dangerous to try dock into a small cave like that during a storm
do they have like a shop too?
I'M GONNA CRY I JUST GOT THE RACCOON CUTSCENE
Did I reset the day just so I could see it again? Why yes, yes I did.
for catching legend II, is it the same spot as legend? is it any season as long as u have the quest active? will it still show the star on the fish to show its a legendary fish
Yes to all of those except the last one
You can catch it multiple times as long as you still have the quest... Which means you can pull in a massive amount of money for each one you manage to land in three days.
Legend II_(2)_final(v3.7).txt
Yeah
Stick 'em in the smoker and powwww, money
Yum
The actual release notes make it less deranged by including pickles and jelly in the same line.
CA knew what the players wanted to see, though

Marnie won't believe me
staring into the fire
plotting your downfall
marnie got the cat after reviving it in the pet sematary and its Evil Now
Can you post post cc content here without spoilers?
do all items have aan equal chance of dropping from golden mystery boxes?
I believe so but don't quote me.
i need an auto petter š better be
Good luck!
Noooo kitty! Pls water him with your watering can
Nope. There are varying probabilities for each. An auto-petter is 0.5% without farming mastery perk and slightly less with it.
Only one way to find out!
(I don't know)
well im wondering bc i only saw two other posts online abt it and i cant find mine š idk if i threw it away by accident
yes
tested it rn and yes it can be trashed but the other iridium tools can't yikes hopefully its patched soon
also threw away my infinity blade
I don't think that's something that he would patch? Not sure. Rods of all kinds have been able to be trashed before.
yeah but this one u can only get once from the mastery cave :(
You could just repurchase them from willy before though
enough complaints and anything can be patched
Ah. Didn't know you can't get an advanced iridium rod a second time. Yeah, that's a problem.
The difference here is that other rod types can be bought again
I didn't say he can't. I just didn't know if he would. @atomic sand
Had no idea you can't obtain a second one.
If you use mods you can spawn one in.
i did see the cjb item spawner mod so i might just dl that
It's worth reporting on the forums though just in case it could get patched later
Yeah that's a good idea. So iridium scythe? Can that be trashed too?
hopefully bro reset the day š
anyone know how to display items in my house?
i dont know when i threw it out so its gone forever š
infinity blade can be re-obtained. So that's not a problem. Damn, that's frustrating. Fortunately, you're on PC. When 1.6 comes to console, I gotta be careful. Can't spawn them in with CJB.
tables
fr? man š ty for letting me know and yes.. be extra careful w this rod š
i didn't have my scythe on me i'm sorry i didn't check that one
no its ok, u cant trash the iridium scythe i tested it
a good way to display the hero trophy?
damn but the rod can be š it has to be a mistake???
maybe overlooked bc other rods can be thrown and didnt notice
yeah definitely
like furniture? or what items do u mean
ik how to now but im trying to think of a better way of displaying the trophy
Like aesthetically display them? I'm sure you can find inspiration on here or reddit.
ill have to have a look
Try #images-and-memes Grabbed this pic from there.
Put it right beneath the portrait of your wife
Y'know, like... Trophy. Wife.
š„
Not sure if this is part of new update or not but iv never acc seen this larl ufo before
How do u get a bathroom?
its not new
thats definetly modded
what to do during feest of winta star
What you think of this?
I love it
love the tree, as if one of the displays just sprouted
get the meowmere
because of the sfx in the cutscene my mind switches to terraria mode
immediately try to use a farm warp totem like a magic mirror by picking it up and left clicking out of inventory
may be a dumbass
Thank you all
my whole whose is themed like this
kinda just all the wizard stuff but its been taken over by nature and the junimos
Center of room is a bit empty, maybe a centerpiece display?
Oh that's so nice! Think it's awesome.
tyty
hmmm maybe ill see
Table would go nice
hold up-
we got frog eggs and i had no idea?!?! AND it can follow you around??? oml i am so friggin happy

ahhh theres even a void frogggg
You can put the frog in a fish tank
Bookseller speed up book vs horses?
and on my way to click on concernedape
there weas leaves going
in the background
and the icon changes to a happy concernedape
New rare launch screen
i need it
me and sebby with our 87 frog children
how rare is the frog egg? does it just drop from any monster or does it have to be specific
ohhh wait i can only get frog eggs after combat mastery
bummer
i got it first try wtf'
are these winter butterflies 1.6? (i put this in here bc 1. i dont know if its 1.6 or not and 2. bci have some things from 1.6 in my house)
yep, they're new (I know the door is just decoration and still waited for you to open it!)
wait we have doors?
need to corral the mannequins
Butterflies spawning indoors feels like a bug tho
0% tryhard 10 fishing by summer 11 y1 3 full days of only fishing sturgeon, bait maker OP
Sturgeoning is gooooood money that early on
whithout tackle I was losing 1 every 10-15 catches but still was amazing
time to sell
Once you can get some Fish Smokers up and running, it gets even better.
And moreso with Artisan
Bruh the new update fizz is so busted
I spent 18mil and achieved perfection while only having 68% lol
fish smokers making fishing a viable moneymaker later into the game is the best change of 1.6
Preserving enchant feels like it might be good now maybe
With double tackle and more expensive bait it seems like a lot of money gets saved
Thinking challenge bait?
More target bait than challenge bait
deluxe worm bin has strong viability for deluxe bait. But challenge bait is pretty pricey.
Ah yeah, targeted bait for sure.
Right.
So you save nearly 400g everytime u cast a rod with preserving
gold star smoked sells for 4200 right?
Plus tackle durability
5800 for iridium. and yeah, tackles.
5880 but yeah
heard of a butterfly hutch?
whats preserving?
agreed, but on the other hand, for the love of god the artisan profession needs nerfing
Itās balenced
it absolutely is not
Itās just as good as agriculturalist
virtually everything you're selling later in the game is an artisan good
Everything your growing is buffed by agriculturalist
10% growth speed vs. a 40% increase in value
Itās more than 10 most of the time
and that increase in value also applies to things that have nothing to do with crops, like artisan goods produced by animal products
Why do you want to make less money though?
I... don't
that's not the point
the point is that Artisan makes you more money in virtually every case, making some of the other Farming skill professions an objectively bad choice by comparison
it could be an artisan nerf or a buff to the other Farming professions, doesn't really matter that much to me which one
but the +40% price increase is pretty extreme I think for the amount of stuff it applies to
"artisan goods" is an extremely broad category and comprises most of the high-value goods in the game, so I think it could get away with being 20%, and even then it would be really really good
Why do you want to make less money though?
If i wanted things handed to me for free id just spawn the money in
I want the game to be better
*slower
For a lot of ppl, part of the satisfaction of playing games is from being fairly rewarded for their work
I don't think it would make the game much slower at all
mid-late game SV has you making a lot of money as it is
but sure, if it's easier to wrap your brain around, buffing the other Farming professions could also do the job
+20% value for animal products doesn't really make much sense when it means you're giving up +40% value for artisan goods made from those same animal products, for example
smaller bonus for a smaller set of items, the best of which has large overlap with artisan goods anyway
I dont think comparing a lv5 to a lv10 skill is particularly fair personally
they're still mutually exclusive
Ok then compare tiller to shepherd
I get that you get Rancher earlier on, but that only matters for so long
Theyre also mutually exclusive
I'm comparing the entirety of the Rancher track to the entirety of the Tiller track
going Tiller -> Artisan is simply better than going Rancher -> <anything>
Thats not true though
Artisan applies to a wider subset of items which makes it better for players who like spreading out their income streams
If youāre actually maximizing the value you get from the animal professions, shepherd and rancher produce more money for the same amount of space on your farm
Of course you can also just swap between the two and benefit from both
The bigger issue is probably that the skills on the animal branchās usefulness is so narrowly applicable
Do they?
Rancher is a x1.2 bonus
Artisan is a 1.4 bonus
and you're turning your animal products into artisan goods anyway
and nowadays even your fish ...
even if you're only making money off animals, you'd rather get a 40% bonus to the price of your cheese, cloth, and mayo than 20%
Shepherd/coopmaster is another 6.5% multiplier from boosting product quality, but only for ostriches, rabbits, and sheep
if that 20% would even apply to all of those
Artisan goods from animal products get rancher applied
that product quality doesn't matter a hell of a lot if you're making artisan goods from those things, which you are, because why wouldn't you
mayhaps the opposite is true in that artisan is too wide
because many things are artisan goods
Wrong
do you realize that 1.4 is a larger number than 1.2
milk makes the same mayo regardless of quality, sorry
I listed those things in specific because the input quality affects the output quality
I don't think that makes up for the difference between a 20% bonus and a 40% bonus, especially when that 40% bonus also applies to every artisan product made from animal goods
Ooga Booga
Its a 1.28 multiplier vs 1.4 but i wasnt done
With shepherd applied
And only with shepherd applied
Sheep suddenly become the most profitable thing you can cram into your farm preperfection
do wild moss trees produce alot more moss
They boost the moss production of trees within a 5x5 area
oh thats nice
So u can put down a wild moss tree and then 8 trees in a ring around it for more moss
so mahogany and moss trees drop seeds occasionally like normal trees do (by shaking/hitting them)?
yes
Do I have to wait till spring to get the pendant for marriage I'm on winter rn
rain totem
If you have a rain totem you can use that
Where do I get one
Actually let me search it up real quick I'm using data rn it's slow
You get the recipe at foraging level 9
It's expensive asf I'm brokie rn it's like better to wait till spring then craft it ong
I would hibernate but it's just waiting time
yeah they can be a bit pricey to craft
I'll just farm one in the Skullcaverns
You can also just do sc runs and other stuff too until spring
... someone's gonna punch me (I have Dwarf Scroll I at home)
dug up the old calculations I did
Tbf isnāt sheep the most profitable because you switch to artisan? Like you use shepherd most of the time but then you switch to artisan to sell the cloth right?
if anyone's curious, artisan ostriches produce 4619g/week in mayo (659/day)
shepherd sheep produce 1042g/day (7299/week)
shepherd artisan sheep product 1216.5g/day (8515.5/week) (with a 10k fee whenever u need to swap to sell)
i dont remember eilliot ever doing this?
not gonna count golden chickens
Yeah no need to.
*20k fee, because you'll probably switch back
right
"||Lewis is an Italian plumber from afar. His real name is Luigi.||"
personally I still use artisan because i like variety in my farming
its more 'fun' imo
But the fact that you need to switch in itself for it to be competable with AF/SF kinda shows the power of artisan.
You also maybe lose a day of sheep production when you don't have shepherd for a day? I'm not sure. But that would be a scaling cost too
Iām in agreement with you to an extent. I think artisan isnāt as OP as people suggest. But I think the gap is there nonetheless.
would argue this could be considered a bug or unintended behavior
It's mainly a thing to consider once you're to the point where you can go Months+ without selling items and still have money to spare.
the issue in swapping back and forth between shepherd and artisan is less about artisan being so strong and more that shepherd applies throughout the day, while artisan only applies when you're selling so they're not mutually exclusive states
No but the reliance is there on artisan.
Artisan doesnāt rely on shepherd.
Shepherd relies on artisan.
not in this case no?
none of this works at all if you aren't using shepherd
sheep suck
No I know. My point is at some point, you rely on artisan to sell the cloth right?
Part of the strat.
sure
but you could just not
and it'd still be bigger money than the next best option, by a lot
No I agree with you. But that just furthers the gap.
the boost in come from swapping from artisan to shepherd is bigger than the gain from swapping shepherd to artisan
Something about saying the best animal in the game sucks just because it doesn't compete with the absolute best feels weird to me.
so shepherd is doing more work here
The gap between the skills is there is what Iām getting at. Just not as canyon-like as people suggest.
thanks for ignoring the rest of the conversation
I didn't. Just a random thought since I see this conversation a lot.
Sheep were good before 1.6 buffs, but people get put off by them because they start bad, and don't compete with other stuff
we're arguing about the impact of artisan vs shepherd for sheep farming
no one's arguing sheep are bad
i'm pointing that if you remove shepherd from the equation, they suck
because shepherd is more important than artisan here
Personally I view it just as big a gap as botanist vs anything else on the foraging tree pre-1.6. The gap was wide enough.
I donāt think shepherd is bad by any means. And you have a point saying shepherd is more valuable in the strat. But I donāt think you even deny that thereās a gap in the value of the two skills.
Artisan is more powerful in solo
Shepherd gains a lot of value in co-op
I would argue this kind of thing is why a lot of games don't let you freely respec abilities like this
i think the big issue between the skills is that Shepard only impacts sheep and Ostrich, but nothing else. Artisan is just too broad. Makes Shepard not even worth considering until you're too the point where you aren't relying on Weekly profits.
When the update for mobile
(because someone would already have Artisan)
But I donāt agree itās overpowered either.
I don't think shepherd affects ostriches?
The "problem" is that artistan enables almost any money making, but shepherd enables exactly 1
also you're just repeating the conversation now
It does, it makes ostriches gain friendship faster, not too significant
Shepard makes Barn animal produce higher quality, so it gives slightly more profit from Ostrich
and artisan is better at the second in most cases anyway because most of the stuff you make from animals gets the artisan bonus
that's not exclusive to shepherd technically
Ostriches do live in the barn though
rather than part of the shepherd profession, its an effect of the level 10 animal branch profession
there's a reason people are stretching for edge cases, respec abuse, and extremely specific farm setups in order to make shepherd sound better
because in pretty much all other cases, artisan beats it by a significant margin
wait no
Itās not a stretch lol. Shepherd can be very profitable.
Is it worded incorrectly on the wiki then?
Shepherd is good but only if you go all in sheep. So it closes optionality without respeccing
Golden chickens too, but your point stands.
The GI farm can grow Ancient while your main farm does sheep, but... You swap to Artisan to sell down anyway, and you can just offload the wine then
Chickens are a coop animal, shepherd does nothing for them
yeah, like I said, very very specific setups. You have to not just be specialized, but hyperspecialized
Iām thinking animals in general. My b. Youāre right.
things are better at things they affect, no duh
thank you for the strawman
not a strawman
yes, it is
you're trying to argue "using shepherd on the thing it affects" is a stretch case
... no. Shepherd also affects other barn animals.
I wouldn't want him to change it now but tbh, I think it would have been better balance wise if items like CHeese/Mayo/Cloth etc WEREN'T Artisan products, and remained animal products
half of shepherd affects other barn animals
half its affect is exclusive to sheep
so the issue in this case is less about its power and more about how hyperspecific its usefulness is
its strong, but its also way too damn specialized
but that's not stretching it, that's literally what the profession does
yes, but it's also weaker than artisan for most of what it applies to, which feels like a problem in itself
i don't think anyone has argued it isn't
then I don't know what we're arguing about at this point
its been repeatedly brought up by like 5 people now that artisan's main thing is how it applies to everything
yeah but it's not just that, it's that it's better for the cases where there's overlap as well
mayo, cheese, that kind of stuff
is there no golden pumpkin at the end of the maze? i only got a prize ticket
on even years its only a ticket
Nerf artisan by removing Animal based goods. Move rancher buff to level 10, make it 40%
Level 5 perk is the 'become friends faster' perk
ooo ty
odd years u get a pumpkin
that doesn't sound bad to me tbh
too many things are artisan goods, honestly. It covers pretty much ANY form of processing and the Artisan boost is very powerful
Well that was essentially my point lol. The fact a change like this is enough to balance it should show that the gap isnāt as dramatic as people make it to be.
part of the issue imo is also that artisan goods just ignore so many mechanics by ignoring input quality for most stuff
even if Artisan specifically applied only to keg and jar products, it would still be really good
yeah too many things in Stardew do that. See also, cooking
Yep, Ancient/Starfruit fields would still be a the big go-to
it's a pretty big design oversight
Hell, it wouldn't even hurt pigs much either since a lot of people just sell the truffles as is as well.
we actually have a new queen of moneymaking but the setup is so expensive that its pretty balanced
at least I consider it one. Ideally, I think input quality should always have an effect on output, as a rule, to encourage you to always produce higher quality if you can
foraging is also in the same position as shepherd vs botanist as well, as a result
I would be fine with the impact not being huge but I would prefer it to be something
Thatās what I was saying.
I'm guessing... Mushroom logs surrounded by Mystic Trees?
yes
Foraging used to be gapped pre-1.6 too.
imo truffles you get from your pigs should not get bonuses from foraging related professions. You aren't foraging the damn things, your pigs are
I argue worse of a gap than artisan and shepherd.
what changed about foraging in 1.6?
Pickled Purple Mushrooms do go pretty hard (why wasn't being able to Pickle/Juice most forage mentioned anywhere btw?)
i believe the intention is that you're paying time for their bonuses
what, you can pickle mushrooms now?
You sure can
you can pickle any produce with positive healing
Mystic trees and tapper profession.
mystic trees were added
You can't juice mushrooms, but you can pickle them (not red ones)
You can also Pickle/Juice edible forage, like Winter Root and Yams
So winter seeds are a lot better for those "What do I do in winter?" people
yams are vegetables anyway I think, so you could before?
so tapper's now in the same position as shepherd but even more hyperspecialized endgame niche
oh, tapper professional for mystic syrup?
Lol I was saying all this earlier.
i'm just explaining it to him
Remember before 1.4 there was a profession that increased the sell price of wood lol. Now that one was bad
It doesn't quite compete with the top shelf, but smoking Lava Eels is pretty good now as well. New Rod means you can consistently get Iridium Quality.
I made about 150k in one day doing it... Which again, isn't quite up there, but considering how bad fishing was before it's nice to actually have it as a reasonable, chill option.
what replaced that, Forester?
you can get way way more than 150k in a day
does smoked fish get the bonus from Artisan and Fisher/Angler?
Or just Artisan?
Both
oh that's something at least
lava eels is incredibly high money/day, but it also requires active action instead of mostly passive like farming is
is there a way to reduce the trash you get in high-trash fishing spots like the mine lava?
That preserving enchant got me thinking about how much you can save now.
you fish in the volcano caldera
what do you guys use the dehydrators for? they dont seem to be good enough for starfruit or ancient fruit but idk what would work well in them
Volcano Caldera isntead
for when you're poor
yeah, not there yet
a single dehydrator works as fast as 12 preserve jars
Is lava eel bait worth it? It felt decent when I tried... But I don't know how the actual math works out code wise.
Definitely don't use them on AF/SF.
imo the best use for Dehydrators is on crops that you get A TON of, but will never have the machines to process, Like Blueberries or Cranberries.
it is
Itās good for caldera yeah
currently experimenting with Preserving enchant
Like, 10 deydrators will get you through 200+ blueberry/cranberry crops before the end of the year.
if anyone can tell me why rhubarb is considered a fruit by the game I'll give you a dollar
Itās red like a strawberry so therefore itās a fruit ofc š
that tracks
Because itās often used in culinary uses as a fruit
kind of, it's not really sweet or anything
and in Stardew Valley terms it means you're doing weird things like making wine out of it
Isnt it used ingame to make sugar
Same way a tomato is used often in what is culturally accepted as a vegetables role in cooking
Beets
nah that wouldn't make any sense
Thatās sugar cane
tomato being considered a vegetable makes more sense than rhubarb being considered a fruit
I accidentally blew up my community champion trophy
Not all fruit is sweet, most modern fruit only is due to very intense selective breeding
since fruits are kind of a subset of vegetable, or at least close to it; a vegetable is basically "edible plant that isn't a fruit"
rhubarb is made into compote = jelly = fruit, something like this?
Oh wait i was thinking of beets
yeah rhubarb jelly makes some sense, but rhubarb wine is terrifying
it's a veggy but its not pickled
you don't pickle and eat hops either
or grains
... actually maybe you can pickle grains, I don't know
I dont remember sugar cane existing in stardew
So rhubarb wine is an irl food
like, you can eat that stuff. It's food
So, where the flip are onions
Apparently
essential food
I assume it's just wine mildly flavored with rhubarb for tartness
I mean raw rhubarb is not the best ngl
How do I get the 3th 5th 7th and 8th rarecrows
have you eaten raw hops
because you can do that in SV and I doubt it's a pleasant experience
Thatās very true
raw rhubarb isn't unheard of tbh, it's usually just eaten with sugar (or salt sometimes I think)
I've done it, it works, it's just really tart on its own
i was reading through the profession discussion, and
to offer my two cents, i think it'd be kinda nice if professions for "just more money" didnt exist, but rather every level 5 profession came with a "this type of item sells for more the higher level you are in this skill"
If you consider marinade to be grouped with pickling ingame, this does work
People eat hops in salads tho too
Marinaded hop shoots is a thing apparently
they do? I wasn't aware of that. Interesting, I assumed they'd be way too bitter
Uh, I don't know which are which...
but...
Orange face/Metal bear from Museum
Ghibli Scarecrow from Fall Fair
Alien from Casino
Long Haird girl from Flower Dance
Witch from Halloween.
Snowman from Traveling cart/ice festival
Dwarf from... well, dwarf.
oh, maybe a different part of the plant then
Different breeds or parts of the plant apparently
"hops" usually means the flowering portion
i.e a fishing level 5 ... lets just say uh
you choose between reeling in fish faster vs fish ponds reproducing faster
and if you choose reeling, you get to sell actual fish for 5 (times your level) more
and then if you pick ponds, similar but for roe items (including aged roe)
For fishing in particular the issue is more about crab pots not having been updated in ages id say
Theyre pretty much stuck as an earlygame thing with zero progression systems or room for improvement
If they were actually viable, i could see some situations where theyd be worth considering for water heavy farms
this could partially be down to the skill professions being primarily convenience-driven
they make crafting and using them more convenient but not really better
good to know. my 1.5 save had like shit loads of strawberries and cranberries sitting around because i didnt want to sell them but i also wanted to save my machines for SF
really stupid question but how tf do i get juice again>
Which imo is fine
place vegetables into a keg
Vegitable in Keg
But the rest of fishing doesnt interact with them
In 1.6 they got a small buff by allowing deluxe bait to reduce garbage chance and improve quality
There's also the book for 25% more.
Crabpots are a weird spot for me becasue... they do suck... But they also go on tiles you can't use for anything else anyways... so... should they be good?
Imagine if you could upgrade the pot, or modify it, or apply other baits
Or put more bait to refill less often
I still spam a bunch of them mid-late game anyways, because unless I'm smoking eels I don't need angler after spring.
1.6 massively buffed the viability of grass tiles
Leaving water tiles and thus river farm the one farm lacking
The one and sole thing river farm has got going for it is the free smoker for earlygame speed/challenge runs
Wish u could put fish ponds on water or some shit
Give it a more Fish Farm aesthetic, where it's netted off areas in the water, instead of just a stone square.
They're lousy as a profit source but in co-op, you can have one player use Mariner to get a very good lobster rate for easy bisque when you don't wanna splurge on Seafoam Pudding
hey does anyone know any good ways to get the 3 types of jellies (cave/sea/river,) i looked on the wiki and it said that the training rod on ginger island was good but i tried it and i've gotten nothing but trash
fish
just keep fishing
i've been fishing for several days with lucky lunches and i've still gotten barely any
Jelly RNG is seeded. Trash does not advance the seed, you need to catch an actual fish to advance it.
So you bring two rods
that's stupid
Cast with Training to try for jelly. If/when you get trash, switch to the real rod and catch a fish. Then switch back to Training.
It is very stupid, yes
If you are fortunate enough for spare copies of Jewels of the Sea, the Bookseller will trade three of a random jelly for it
oh well there we go, immediately after the fish i got a jelly
I'm hoarding books I get now
tysm
Btw cave jelly does not require such stupid shenanigans
Mine B100F doesn't use the same fishing programming
You can just cast normally
yeah i have like 3 lava eel ponds going so i'm good on that for now
ive had really good river jelly luck in the desert pond, im not sure if it actually is better though
my lava eel gives me cave jelly š
what are the best fruit for the dehydrator besides cranberries and blueberries? my ancient fruit are for kegs, and starfruit are for kegs too
what about strawberries and rhubarb? how are ppl processing them now in 1.6? selling them raw? dehydrating them? making them into wine? jelly?
really its just anything you have in excess haha
like its better to process items than not to, but jarring/kegging them is always going to be better
hell, with certain fertilizer, it might be worth it to sell them raw
hmm interesting
I mostly dehydrate mushrooms
I think rhubarb would be ass in dehydrators
but because I have 33 dehydrators I need 165 stack of any item
Strawberries would work well
you can make mushroom pickles if you have the jars to do it haha
sometimes I do the cranberries
oh I do if I don't have enough fruit for my preserve jars
Dehydrators are weaker than kegs/jars, their advantage is their insane speed in comparison to those
yeah thats fair!
I mostly dehydrate morel and that golden one
purple if I have enough
otherwise common
If you have many fruit trees, those are decent picks for dehydrators (unless they have reached Iridium quality)
it's just a quick money maker seeing as I'm on a self challange where anything I ship must be 100+
oh I have fruit trees, just not enough for 33 dehydrators yet
and I decided to redo my mushroom log set up
smaller, and mystic tree
Can magma caps be pickled?
it's the mystic tree that's hard
not sure I haven't tried
do they give any + benefits?
thanks for the advice everyone!
yes
are there any good layout examples for mushroom logs actually
I've forgotten what benefits or negatives
Then I'd jar magma caps over dehydrating them
uhh
if it has positive healing and is produce, it can be pickled
dehydrating magma caps is not the play
not aware of any exceptions
ever
Only the regular Red Mushroom is poisonous, the others are all edible
I'm following this but it is huge, I shrunk it down now
not my pic
it's from reddit
Wonder if there's a place big enough outside the farm that can support this
weird looking setup
you can tap the trees
Quarry and desert probably... Wonder where else
speaking of logs
pre-mystic mushroom log optimization is a mess
esp if you throw moss into the mix
is that meadowland farm?
yes
yes
and I don't care that my crops are weird set up
I just like crops
oh I used the treasure totem? thing, the new lilac totem from one of the mastery's on GI and it was so good
which I don't have the farm set up yet
yeah its pretty good
new layout i think
It occurs to me that their being normal quality is not so bad even if you have Botanist
Just make oil out of them and Artisan picks up the slack!
is there a way to sort a dresser?
I'm just imagining that one unfortunate soul who had a 0 truffle crab
Sounds like it might do a "roll a chance to drop a truffle, over and over until failure" thing
If I understand this right, there is a 0.01% chance it drops nothing
Yeah, I knew it wasn't 0.1% because the other 50% and 10% chances also have to fail, therefore decreasing the chance even further
I guess you can also include the other drops as well, not just the truffle related stuff
Kill a crab, nothing but a prismatic shard
Irony
oh wow i got this once in my farm after i left the truffle for a day and the next morning i got this, i got like 2 truffles afther tho, a scary thing
I should also mention, the 0.01% I threw out was either me typing out what I remembered before finding the wiki page again, or simply me adding an extra 0 because I felt like the chance of 0.1% was too high / looked weird
Does a world thatās been created before the update still get it?
is it normal for day 2 of the desert festival to be devoid of any pelican town npcs for the whole day
I can't think of anything that would prevent it
Maybe if you have terrible luck, all the NPC's that would be there went to Ginger Island instead
im playing it modded but just to be absolute sure it wasnt, like, noclip or something-- i dont even have ginger island unlocked on this file
-- so basically double checked to make sure i didnt have anything enabled that would mess with npc routing but my god my luck must just be bad
Restart the day maybe
also reloaded the day and tried to use console commands every ingame hour to hurry the npcs to their scheduled spots but nothing
y2?
that's definitely a mod conflict then
if it persists even after day resets then its not an isolated glitch
maybe it's like this because no one expects you to fuckin have the bus ready by festival time
chances are one of your mods modified NPC schedules for that day
nope, the game entirely allows y1 desertfes
it's a strat people can and sometimes do use now for speedruns
holy shit
easy level 10 foraging
i'm like 90% sure one of your mods overrode the day's schedule with something else
aight, (cracks knuckles) time to start fucking around with disabling mods
three of them
1/125 chance
MAXIMUM TUNNEL DRIFTING
Triple iridium legendary fish OR Legendary fish roe... decisions
oh this is gonna be wild if it turns out to be es or rsv messing with npc schedules
i keep thinking it's not happy birthday because day 2 lands on trinnie's birthday, that makes no fuckin sense
Getting both is hard have to get a perfect catch
Sorry I meant original legends not their descendants
The only way to get triple is with a perfecct catch
right so you have to get a perfect catch AND get a chest AND hope the chest is in a spot were the Legendary fish is
AND hope the chest has roe
im assuming double cork bobber, desert trader, master enchant, and qi seasoned seafoam pudding?
it's always iridium if you get a perfect catch
no?
has been the 20ish times I have caught
perfect catch increases quality by one, so it has to be naturally gold
bruh i have never once gotten an iridium anglerfish
only gold at best
on a perfect catch
are you not doing a max cast?
theres not enough distance from land to the river to naturally get gold quality, so you need quality bobber
does anyone know where damage calculations are handled in the files
yes but the legends it is
that would explain why i got the gold one that one time.
