The trees change back to their normal state in spring. It’s probably a bug, because the game code clearly states that these spontaneous changes only should happen to non-tapper trees.

i have come to the conclusion that plants are overrated. my just 4 barns of sheep (with only a couple golden animal crackers) are giving me like 50k a day and i literally just have to grab the wool from the auto grabbers and put it in the bin. i can leave them for 20+ days and they keep earning me money the whole time, unlike plants

Anyone know moss mechanics? Does it reset every day? Where if it's not harvested you might lose the chance to collect moss from that tree? Does it build over time? Where if you wait, then all of your trees will have moss and you can collet it all? Does it function like other forgeables, where it builds over the course of a week and is reset on Sundays?

Time is money, and animals can produce a lot of money for very little time spent daily. Junimos and shipping crops directly is also okay, too. The problem with junimos is that you still have to wait for the day to pass long enough for them to grab all of the crops. Animals (not pigs) produce everything at 6:00am

The wild trees do drop mossy seeds on the farm and probably the quarry too. So you can plant one and just harvest the seedlings that it drops on occasion to build your fiddle-forest

Some interesting info:

Some oak and maple trees seem to change their appearance to leafless versions of the "mossy tree" sprite in fall? And these are the ones that I have gotten mossy seeds from.

I'm wondering now if the mossy seed drop is intentional or if these trees are bugged and think they're mossy trees in the fall.

I duplicated the save and jumped through to spring and those maple / oak with the "mossy tree" sprite reverted back to normal oak/maple in spring 🤷

For who is interested, here it is my findings in codes:

• When the Green Rain happens, every fully grown oak or maple tree over the valley has a possibility (~75%) to turn into TemporaryGreenRainTree.
• Generally, they would turn back into what they were the next day.
• Oaks and maples have their green rain forms respectively, I means, different sprites.

• There seems to be a bug, in which trees with Heavy Tapper is not counting as tapped. They could turn into greenRainTree while Heavy Tappers remains on them.
• My point is that it's really a reuse of sprites. In terms of gameplay and contextual setting, these types of trees don't really have much to do with Green Rain. It's intentional to show a process of trees dying in autumn and recovering in spring.

Hey Blade, I've tried to do the digging on my own before asking, but I can't figure it out. What are the mechanics behind moss growth on trees? I've looked in objects.json and wildtrees.json

Does it reset every day? Does it build up like forgeables and reset on Sunday morning? Does it just build up over time?

Yeah. Fruit trees are for decoration. I just have my animals going for quick, immediate profit. Don't bother processing any of their produce. Time is money, and speeding through days is more efficient than grinding out every day.
