I think the biggest thing for this is to know that there is almost always a way up that doesn't require any long climbs, so if you run into something and you aren't sure if you can make it up, it can be wise to traverse either left or right until you find a more promising path

Sometimes it's just horrible, and then it's worth learning some tech to help give you more options, but for the most part that isn't needed

Depends on what youre struggling with, if its routing just take a second to look at your surroundings, the trees and vines are the key to roots and some mushrooms can help

You can stand on the mushrooms and shelf shrooms that spawn into the ground so keep that in mind

If its wind, you can sprint against the wind or be ready to grab a wall

My biggest problem is just trying to figure out where to go. And the purple mist. I've tried climbing trees to go over the mist but I can't get that high. I've tried running through the mist with milk but I can't find where to go. It just seems like there's no way up... 🙁

The wind clears the mist so you could wait for it, usually i get around it by using trees or just powering through and trying to get out as fast as possible

Like usually roots is comparatively speaking a much harder biome compared to the rest because of the ||zombies|| and ||scuttlebugs|| and wind and whatnot, and no other biome really has as much shit to deal with, but everything with todays map was hard hard hard as shit when it came to roots.

I'd call roots the hardest biome but today's was miserable.

Not everything hits at the exact same time

New map rotations are always ~1gb. They aren't generated on your computer; you have to download them

you used to be able to, a few patches ago it silently changed by the looks of it. poyo (who makes the #1450592062394077345) said from the game files, scoutmaster cant spawn in tenderfoot anymore ^^

even not on tenderfoot, its a % chance so the time to spawn varies, and you have to be 400m apart on shore instead of 200m like all the other biomes

I'm curious, why the devs don't just automates the whole map making thingy instead of manually making it?

people ask every time we add new maps so as an fyi: we have to generate new maps every month or so and add them to the game ourselves for the daily rotation. We'll have a solution sorted whenever we finish development on peak

It is automated, but it can't be done on everyone's machine because it requires a RTX-capable graphics card to do the lighting pass

So we have to build them ourselves and send them to you

Nah when they hired me I set up a machine whose whole job is to bake the maps and make the builds. I just push a button and come back later to check on it

Question, is there any plan for how new maps are going to (or not) happen after the team is done with peak? I dread the idea of being stuck with one map pool for eternity 😭 (though the modding community is lovely and offers a lot of alternatives even if that does happen)

I'm looking into it, but it's still an open question. We'll definitely have a solution that doesn't lock you to only 21 maps, though
