There's a small "ceiling" surface just underneath the top of the pillar

It stops ya from climbing, though you can get across it at the expense of a decent bit of stamina, still haven't worked out how to smoothly cross it

For resourcefulness, I would play ascent 2+ with friends if you want to sneak in a bite— you can also get the achievement with cannibalism turned off in singleplayer mode by eating a cooked chicken from one of the eggs in the caldera. You can always pull the backpack-cannon-medkit trick to meet the scoutmaster (or sabotage your friends), and for emergency preparedness it shouldn’t be hard to convince a friend to become unconscious from poison in the tropics, which you can then save them from with an antidote!

If it takes you more than one day, I would recommend looking for the steam in the alpine before climbing the mountain— you can often see where the capybaras are before you start climbing, and plot a route to get to them that way

Statistically it's a net-positive. On average you'll get a moderate chunk of your stamina bar taken up by a quickly-dissipating effect like tired or hot. Obviously worth it when you have a bar full of injury or something

No. Healing doesn't give you reserve energy, and all healing items (except shroom, but shroom is ass anyway) take more time than you're given before you pass out. Pandora can be self-administered during the grace period when your stamina bar exceeds the limit

A big part of it is figuring out the route you're gonna take - looking up and making sense of what terrain looks viable
Don't be afraid to go back down / retrace your steps to find an easier route
And you don't need to hoard items.
Alpine is a level worth using them on if you're struggling. I suppose then also desert.
caldera is easy, and you get loaded up with items at the end of it for kiln, so you gotta let go of that gamer instinct of holding on to all your good items for last

For Mesa, try to stay in the shades as much as possible. You can also use sunscreen or parasol if you're lucky
For Alpine, make sure you're close to crevasses or under trees/overhangs where there are no snow. Or you can use heatpacks and/or eat scorchberries if you're lucky
And don't always trust the snow

Mesa is an absolute joke of a biome that people have somehow been convinced is actually hard.
I only rank Tropics more difficult than Alpine because Alpine's hazard is negligible depending on generation and your path, and it can be bypassed with items. Tropics does not afford that luxury. If it's raining, it's raining. And sometimes poison or explosive hazards like to hide in weird spots, but that's mostly a perception/reaction issue.

If you are going sideways grab on for a second then let go and flick in the direction you want to go, you get tossed in that direction. Then you grab again and repeat until you make it. Saves a lot of stamina

Mesa has no real hazards, just perception checks and "when x do y". Blizzards in Alpine are really easy to manage once you learn the mechanics better. Tropics doesn't leave much room for improvement, it just continues the common tradition of the jungle biome in a game being worse than hell

I think their saying this is the way to get a chain slide, which happens if you have enough momentum. Land on the chain angled slightly down when going fast enough and you slide without wasting stam for a good distance

Yes and no… it will block for the host client with packets/rpcs but other people connected to the server will still be able to interact with them.

The only mods that have successfully introduced a kick feature require either, everybody including the person you want removed to have the mod, or do a lil illegal to their photon connection.

See I actually think that’s the line they’re drawing tbh. It’s pretty smart from an indie studio to avoid the matchmaking because of the regulations/moderation that is required within a system nowadays.

Without matchmaking they can then fall back on the “it’s designed to only be played with friends” argument which does work.
