Any "man-made" deployable you use will kill the challenge, so that means you can't use ropes, cannons, stove. You can still use natural items though, so Shelf Mushroom and Magic Beans are safe to use

Yes. It's easier if you have a person as a ghost guiding you, most of the time you can't even see the way up. Load up on extra stam and one chain launcher should be enough, or even like a lollipop energy drink combo

You might be surprised how many problems can be solved by climbing straight up above you. Also, if you can save a chain launcher or two, they can let you skip massive sections if you fire them vertically, along a wall with a ledge or two you can use for a break while climbing.
