I know bits and pieces but I am not a modder, sometimes I like to tinker
I have the mindset of always work, just slower and less. I also apply this mindset to my favorite melee category in PZ, short blade, the only type I can seemingly never lose energy in or gain muscle strain, sure it takes a while to kill them, but it's easier to not worry about resting.
When I worked at _________, I didn't take breaks when I should have, but I just worked less hard, same outcome and I felt better at the end of the day.

It's strange, apparently the remaining parts of the sign are there, but the problem is that you can't see the right and left sides of the sign. You can even climb up and take the sign with you. I tried looking at it from various positions and never saw the two missing sides, only the middle one. It seems like a bug.
yea that was my conclusion as well (though I did not take the sign)
Hmm, interestingly, I just discovered that if you place the sign, it won't let you pick it up again.

I noticed traffic cones that have been squished are perma there and can't be picked up
so I got the first test of the racoon skin, I got it to show up and I can load a run with the mod enabled, I go in via debug and I spawn racoons and they aren't replacing textures

You can remove them with the sledgehammer.

Could someone check the coordinates X=2172 Y=6303, behind the house? I'm getting question marks, and the tile is called "vegetation_groundcover_01_21".

If you're in debug mode, you will see those question marks for some tiles, check if it has been reported on yet

I exited debug mode, and all the tiles were fixed. I was probably moving too fast and it didn't load properly.

I understand naming things is hard but why not something more clear like
- unstable 42.15.0
- unstable 42.14.1
I don't get hiding the versions, just causes more confusion for people not in the loop
Because Steam doesn't let you rename branches, so when we drop the next branch which isn't 42.15.0, it becomes a problem
Or rather it gives us more work
and would actually cause issues for people on the branch

It seems some of the changelog bugfixes in 42.14.0+ aare incorrect.
Not gonna lie this is probably the buggiest unstable build they put out so far. We're also getting the first signs of Serellan's UI crusade which could be just what we need.

is there a known bug with lighters not being able to be equipped as a secondary? or an issue with firecrackers? had a player unable to use firecrackers until he "cheated" the lighter into his secondary by using F with a firecracker equipped in primary

we've got mods but nothing that should affect lighters or firecrackers. i'll check the forum tho ty
it was one of the new disposable lighters, i wonder if that was the problem... will test with a normal one, or matches
Mods can effect other things even if it isn't directly related sadly so the best bet is to try without mods and see if it still happens
i havent had any issues using them

from the scope it should be doable to have them on par
you just get a lot more interacitivity because of the difference in perspectives
the new crafting system is in, its just not stuffed full with the new option that were originally planned for b42 but have been moved in to the future
tho i do kinda would like the farming system to be taken over, but it would be a tad overkill for zomboid needs

pz I'd say is actually a bit more casual than vintage story
for VS they literally have you blowing into the fire to increase the temp so you can properly make steel, they have you shaping the items, etc
i know it wont happen, but i would really enjoy a modernized version of hydrocraft
but thats a huge project, so at this point you are probably just better off to rewrite the entire thing instead of porting it onto yet another version with life support
especially because a lot of its system are now obsolete with the new crafting system in place
and that's fine -- I think -- though I'd like more of vs type stuff, pz has its own niche with crafting being a part of it, not it
you can bet money on that someones going full gregtech with the system
just wait till it hits stable and people start to figure out the system

when I make assumptions on systems it's purely vanilla and you can see this because I suggest that some mods should be vanilla already
and I've went through the entire post crafting system legit, from zero to hero
got all the skill and recipe books, got the materials, got the tools, crafted and built my way up to advanced forges
to me it felt like a chore tbh
maybe if crafting was more involved (again, minigames for example), it'd be a bit more fun
when I did it, it was pretty much craft something 500x times to level up, go loot other places, turn cars into scrap, etc

Eg. opening doors without being forced to hack and slash them to death; being able to see behind trees (I sincerely doubt a zombie could be super stealthy around the very edge of a treeline); being able to see npcs and players and objects behind sprites when your character pov would be able to do so (it's common sense, really); and the list goes on (possibly ad nauseam)
these are just the most basic qol things imo

Like idk if it's possible to check how many trees are between a player and a zed in the code, but combine this with a simple isZombieMoving check and you could allow the player to see moving zeds behind 1 tree, but see nothing behind multiple trees? Wether or not you can see a stationary zombie behind a single tree could just be proximity dependent.
That or just have whatever is actually occluding vision be a lot more accurate to the graphics of the tree lol

Character would always go far too near a fire to do anything with it
If you use the “light fire” button the character literally stands in the center. Doesn’t make sense.
Is it a campfire? Is it pre-placed by the game or did you build it there? I'm trying to recall how I got it fixed (assuming I had mods and didn't need to remove any to fix it)
Obviously the thing may be a bug, and it may be also caused by any mods, but work-around has to exist since I remember (a month or two back) having to figure out why it happened to me
If its a campfire the game pre-placed to your map, I would suggest moving it to a different spot and seeing again if your character tries to immolate himself. I'm just throwing plausible ideas how I did get it to work properly in a pure wilderness run I had
is there any way in the sandbox settings to make food less... "effective"? i know nutrition is kinda wonky rn but i can go a week without eating and then an apple takes me to full lol
I don't think so, just abundance and then taking weight traits
Hunger rate up can work, or taking the negative trait. Calories may be wonky...But you need to eat more at least

Hunger is independent from nutrition anyway...pretty sure an apple does not grant miracles in vanilla!

yeah, hunger is effectively "fullness"
food may be filling while its actual garbage for your body (hello, fast food), and vice versa it may be a small bite but calorie dense like some candy (or food bars)
but i do think there was a rebalance pass announced to be happening one day
