I tried it an also a few other things, none of what I've tried seems to change how overpowered stomping is, only how tough they are against weapons. But what I did find it this mod:
It doesn't make them tougher but it definitely adds a downside to stomping
so if you want smthn like this here you go lol

I don't think it should be vanilla unless they want more unrealistic gameplay mechanics for the sake of balancing. Add it to the list of sandbox settings to turn off.
Pushing a zombie from under their armpits pretty much guarantees you can't be bitten, scratched maybe, but definitely not a bite.

Yeah, we don't exactly know what's left to do with the unstable, whether it's nearing completion, or anything at all. It's all a big unknown at this moment.
Doesn't change the fact the updates are coming steadily, so the development is progressing well.

previous to the last couple, we were on 3 a month, so it's either you're right and they've slowed down as they reach the last few features, or we get a new update this week or the next

i mean i don’t mind a higher zed population, it’s just that im finding mass amounts of infected in areas that there really shouldn’t be any—ie in a field far into the open country. like i can’t go anywhere without an egregious amount of zombies spawning. always have to tone it down in settings and even then i get big groups and even hoards in the most awkward locations
Who's to say where zeds should be? Maybe some farmer left a tractor running and it attracted all nearby zeds. Maybe a horde chased an animal into the woods
Keep in mind theres less than a hundred houses in most towns apart from LV but they countain thousands of zs
Stuff like that which doesn't make sense is why I think the distribution needs work
I think the hordes that are placed during worldgen are a good idea but it should also make sense
For example, its okay to have a huge number of zs at a military checkpoint or mall, but its not okay to also have the surrounding area be packed

There are more issues than we are seeing, issues where they have the knowledge, but we don't, since no access to source codes.
We don't give ETAs because they lead to far more frustration and disappointment, and we want to make sure we take the time to get things right rather than push out an update that doesn't live up to our standards - or your expectations. Multiplayer is still under active development alongside single player content, but isn't ready yet due to major...

I did see something on reddit, about additions on functional tornados. Even showed a model of a cow being affected by windspeeds. Not sure if it was real, the cow horns looked different from 42 cows.

Well, my first impression is that 42.10 is in essence a polish patch. No huge new shiny things, but as much appreciated. Making what we have better, rather than adding yet another layer is VERY important!

It's actually not the sharpness (?) of the fire, maybe it's because it's too high rez in comparison with the rest of the game. It gives off the feeling of a fire fx gif run through a pixelator.

The issue is that you can't have it both ways and not feel odd, either you commit to going higher rez and have all the shiny new toys (embers, darkening, etc...) OR you keep it lower "quality" (not previous PZ fire, just not as high rez as it is now).
If it was a rotating decal plane it could help sell it off in 3d even better in comparison to just a sprite.
I guess having that right on top of B40-looking logs makes the matter even worse. Logs are more pixelated than most objects in the game
But good to know that what we now seem to think is the main feature (interactive street names) was actually only the work of 2 devs.
Makes me wonder what everyone else has been cooking... 42.11 could include a big feature

As I said above, is mostly a polishing patch. Polished animations/ragdolls, 3D placement, fire etc.
The most visible feature is indeed the street naming. I stress "the most visible" because parts of me is hoping for tons of under-the-hood work and updated mapping tools (for modders).

We don't know if how fire works changed. We just know of a new very high res sprite for it.
I agree, good to add more meat to the game. But you have to cook the meat to be truly palatable. And this patch is just that.

Another idea is one regarding fire spread and fire fx. I think that at a 1-2 tile distance from the 'border' fire, lit tiles should combine into larger 'fire tiles' (so instead of a 1x1 it'd be a 2x2 and so on), mimicking fire variation instead of a uniform tile.
Relic from a past time, we only got 3D models for things starting in B41 so it will get updated eventually I am sure

Here's proof of the gun bug. This is with maximum aiming level and M16 in debug mode. Notice how the first few shots stagger the zed without damaging. It seems to only damage the zed when the target reticle is focused (which doesn't make sense due to the bullet still hitting and staggering the zed). The ONLY mod installed in this clip is combat text, and it happens without combat text installed.

Leg damage can kill zeds, see what happens when you stomp their legs. Also in other instances I've had no damage shots on the lower torso. Keep bothering me about it and I'll drop more clips.

Pretty sure that items positioning is still through the 3D placement HUD, which has been fully refined now. Click & drag would be messy to implement, I think. I can't imagine that working well with zeds to fight in interiors

Full power restoration might eventually in the late game make some things trivial, but thats how we IRL ended up in our current lives, figuring things out to make life easier. Realistic! (but you are right, it would be HARD to operate an endless 24/7 power supply even with multiple people in an apocalypse of zombie variety, depending on what methods would be available)
Either way, I'd love to have a way for solo survival to have some non-gasoline based power for lonely survivor needs, or at fucking least add a vanilla tanker vehicles so one doesn't have to lug endless canisters from a pump 😄
Primitive food preservation of course can also reduce the need for gasoline power, just nervously "afraid" how they are gonna implement it, how painful it is to do

Yeah actually that's a fair point. I personally am starting to appreciate how disabling the minimap immerse you even more, exactly for the reason you mention there. Minimap is in a very meaningful capacity, a GPS
I honestly don't know why we have this tendancy to punish ourselves with no minimap, no loot, 16x pops, 2x muscle strain, no map, no vehicles and so on
I witnessed this regarding many players and content creators and it's just a high level of punishment that probably comes from other frustrations outside of PZ
after 2500h you kinda want to keep the game you love interesting. As simple as that.

for instance playing without the main map is immersion breaking imo bc as a native kentucky resident, the char knows where the grocery store is, knows his neighborhood and etc, disabling that is like being teleported from another dimension

I mean... This is a very interesting convo honestly.
To me at least, since I do host a small semi-hardcore server.
In my view, there's two types of "hardcore" approaches. The 16x approach, to me is just something that make the game boring. A clicking zed killer simulator and takes out the life out of the game.
On the other hand, small tweaks on the hardcore side can make things more interesting if done right. For example:
- Lower loot
- No minimap
- Cars with missing parts to make the process to get a functioning vehicle something rewarding
As for sprinters... I also dislike them. However, a 1-2% sprinters is actually quite nice and keeps you on your toes

there's an argument to be made that with B42 being very crafting heavy, loot going down should not be an issue at all. Even preferable to get people more engaged with the crafting system

It would be cool if pz had a system that made it easier to level some skills if you are experienced in similar ones.
Good at carving? Here is an xp boost for carpentry since you are used to working with wood and wise versa.
Good at welding? Welp, you can have an xp boost for metalworking and wise versa (ik it's kinda different, but still).
There are quite a few more examples i could think about, but you get the idea.

mine dont and its annoying trying to balance things for them because its always too little or too much lol
so a lot were tweaked to justify the mods
