I think something cooler to experience is to turn zombie population up and turn off rally groups. Without zombie groups, it legitimately feels like a lot more natural distribution of zombies like we see in media

If I could declare spots where spawning is disabled, that would be perfect for me I think?
What would make sense to me is to simulate spawning as migrations coming from the edges of the map moving inward or across. As if huge hordes of Zombros are coming from other regions outside of our map and spreading across the roads and towns. I feel like of you could disable spawning in a zone that you yourself determine you're not gonna be able to resist abusing it. This way its a bit more organic
sometimes I set respawn hours and migration to about 168 hours (7 days) so that when you do clear out a particular area in town, you can have that satisfaction and peace of mind for a few days without the emptiness from turning respawn completely off
If we can have a bit of dating / romance, that will make it more convincing.
Lore-wise, it will be immersive.

We need to remember that players, when given the opportunity, will optimize the fun out of a game. If the optimal strategy is unfun, they'll still take it because it's optimal. The challenge of diverting players away from tedious dismantling is to make its drawbacks outweighs alternative methods.
One way is to make it less efficient for XP per time spent compared to, say, chopping down a tree and converting logs into planks.
You can do this by either increasing time for dismantling or decreasing XP per item. And time includes, not just time for actually doing the action, but also finding the tools to do it, how often those tools need to be replaced, and the time it takes to find an item.
An alternative is to increase the XP per time of making things, and the time here also includes the time it takes to gather the materials, which logically makes construction much harder to balance compared to destruction.
iirc they did mention that they will increase XP gain when building items (i.e. “increase the XP per time of making things”):
…a common server admin complaint is that the map swiftly becomes barren of furniture and loot containers due to players chasing XP. As such, in B42 scrapping, dismantling and ripping items will no longer grant XP.
We no longer want progression in a skill to involve destroying piles of items or trashing the map; and instead to concentrate on making things. XP for actions such as building structures and repairing clothing has been boosted to adjust for that, and the individual skill XP multipliers in the sandbox settings also offer more means to compensate. (This said, as things stand, XP for dismantling electrical items or wrecked vehicles remains.)

It depends on how you go about it
The way most engines do it is that the character goes into a rag doll state, does the physics for a bit, and then when all the pieces have stopped moving they go into a ‘sleep’ state where they are no longer calculated
Seeing as physics objects exist in the way of cars and stuff, it’s not infeasible. Tricky, for sure, but certainly not impossible
If it were constantly checking for collisions on every single bone for every single zombie, yes it would absolutely not work, but that would be a foolish implementation

99% of the time ragdolls are goofy and distracting
Not to mention it isn’t really necessary, practically the entire map is flat ground, static death animations are very effective and are probably extremely efficient

Look, I get that there are very few places to find an M16. I understand that since it's a "machine gun", civilians, police officers, and gun shop owners won't have it. But this weapon is also the standard-issue service rifle of the U.S. Army. In all of the times I have gone to the secret military...
zombie soliders must of died since they didnt know how to fight a zombie and didnt have a weapon to defend themselves.
tbf, I think a lot of the logic behind item spawning could use some tweaks. The classic community joke about all of Kentucky's residents throwing their sledgehammers into the river pre-game comes to mind.
i always delete my sledgehammer if i find one too early in my games lol
that's fair. I personally avoid using it most of the time, since the logic that determines building/wall validity is kind of iffy in the vanilla game
(and I just prefer to work with pre-existing rooms)

I'm pretty excited for the coming engine enhancements. The work the team has done to support ramp collisions might imply that we get more consistent walkable rooftops somewhere down the line
i.e. no more falling through roof edges, and slanted roofs won't be as permeable to physical objects
Iirc they said we are getting more "specialization" traits, like how handy gets better barricades, so we might have stuff like "chicken grower: +1 farming(?) Chickens you tend to produce more eggs" or other stuff like that
U am fairly certain whike they don't want to kill the idea of being a generalist, specialists will be getting some love (plus on wilderness maps, starting at high levels is gonna be more valuable, assuming skill books aren't available)
But we'll have to see what b42 brings (hopefully a release time frame thus Thursday, or at least a "play tests are going good, need to fix a few things before we hand it over"

I would argue that it's better for the game to keep it's low-detail aesthetic. Generally, vague visual representations for in-game objects allow for more flexibility in the underlying design.

gta mods are better than zomboid
but somehow racing in zomboid, despite the lags and other issues is way more fun than in GTA

I can't say what can make GTA fun for me, but I can tell what annoys me: shooting and driving experience. Guns feel like toys, like you're firing an air gun and cars are "arcadish", meaning it is so simple to drive it is not interesting. I know it's not an FPS, nor a racing game but these two activities make much of the gameplay and because of that I didn't like my time with GTA.
Also, you can't really do anything to the city in GTA, while in Zomboid you can level it to the ground if you like.

GTA is ok, but it has its issues. I am not a fan of them promising sp dlc and then not releasing it cause they realized they make far more money with MP and shark card MTX, and you know it is going to be worse in the future. Also take-two did KSP dirty and I can't forgive them for that.
