The closest thing you're gonna get it getting horses that act like cows until you mount them, after which they turn into the existing horse mod.

I imagine less buggy than B41 was when it first launched onto IWBUMs, there was a ton of missing animation states and such. In fact if you go back to video footage of first release of B41, vs now it is pretty mind blowing.

Running With Rifles developer even posted in that article, and that game uses behaviour trees for its AI behaviour, which are pretty smart in making snap decisions in the context of war, but that's obviously a simpler game. It's really fun to play RWR btw

Maybe they'll continue some work on the factory systems at some later point to at least make it stable, and modders can swoop in and make all sorts of crazy systems. Those irrigation mods would thrive with this.

i believe it was said that not all NPCs will be ones that spawn in the homes from the beginning, so these other NPCs could be explained as coming from outside the map's boundaries

SKin > Soak in water > Scrape hide > Soak in limewater > Scrape some more > Tan in tannin > Maybe some final scraping > Possibly soak in even stronger tannin > Leave it to dry
that sounds like it wuold take SO LONG
depending on hide like a cows hide it can take weeks
actually not weeks, it can take months to fully tan a cows hide

idk if b42 will necesarily have us spend that much in game time on a cows hide, but since farming itself is having realistic growing times then I wouldnt be surprised
Like, if it was 1 to 1 with realistic growth times, we'll see cabbage taking like 10 days to mature to 6 months to mature
Tbh a cows hide can be all that you need for leather for a long time anyways unless you need alot to make a lot of armor or something, since like with really good leather its actually near impossible for human teeth to break through good leather
i wouldnt mind if its within a decent pz timeframe if that makese sense
like in between looting and doing shtuffs
for sure, or you could also use smaller hides to get leather in shorter times, obviously in smaller batches
but by smaller that would definitely be like pig skin or sheep skin, getting leather from varmints doesnt really work out

i tried spear for the first time outside of fishing , i can see why people use it , pretty op little slice n poker
at least in vanilla it is best to just use the basic spears as it is not worth using the duct tape to add attachments (better to use that on things like repairing things like axes) - there is a mod somewhere that adds the ability to use ripped sheets to attach things which makes upgraded ones better.

instead of every house having 10 units of water on shutoff in sink pipes, you’d have to fill the sink beforehand to get to 10 units, and after shutoff it’s the same as pre nerf, but it eliminates NEW houses from having the water. pretty much u having control over what water source having water after shutoff

As for water in the pipes after shutoff, have you ever shut off your water main before? It can last a very long time (I did it recently cause the place I moved in has a ((stupid)) smart device attached to it and it last me about 2 days of normal usage) - I do think water should go bad after a while but even then that should take a while
we had ours go out during that texas winter storm , filled our tubbies up for being able to flush , but for a while after the water was turned back on we had boil notices i think for a week
I think once human NPCs are in the game it will be less of an "issue" cause they will be also draining water from everywhere

Developers should consider instead of making big updates over a long period of time, it would be better to do them little by little and release them so as not to make people wait so long between one update and another, (so that people can become more familiar with the content they add) [because in all these years with all those blogs it is very difficult for you to know every detail of each one]

Idk if the devs mentioned this, but atomic duck brought a great point that, out of all the builds the devs have released, b41 gave the devs the biggest influx of new players and revenue ever.
So, with the success they saw with b41, it isn't surprising to me that theyre taking their time with b42 and making it another monster update like b41.

If my opinion were the only one that mattered, build 43 would focus so hard on cleaning up the internal systems and not worry much about new content, that way the devs can do future things faster and hopefully result in better performance on player side. Then B44 would have every staff member applicable be focused entirely on NPCs stage 1
They currently work in a two team system (three if you count MP) one of those teams is already hard at work on NPC stage 1
i dont really see it as new content but mechanics that are missing from the current state of the game that are needed , content to me would be updates that come after 1.0

Yea I understand, but with B42 we should be seeing increases in performance across the board, tons of fixes that we don't currently have in B41. So I think we are well on our way to keeping B43 as NPC stage 1 instead of pushing it back. TIGS does seem to take player feedback into account so definitely good to voice your opinion!

Zombie limb damage and NPCs have been both mentioned before, with the latter having the when confirmed, and honestly "revised illness systems" and "better static zombie defenses" are things that seem high intensity for low impact to most players.
better static zombie defense being more reasons to defend your base, like hordes wandering in?
Like, if you want to make a stand against a horde in B41, the only ways I know of is to use cars to cheese the zombies into being unable to touch you, or to use walls/circles of campfires to cheese the zombies into burning themselves up before they can touch you. Ideally the former would be patched out and replaced with more balanced things, like wood spikes and ways to lure them into falling into holes or off the side of your building (terrain and zombie intelligence allowing)
Also I guess sheetropes and no way for them to reach the 2nd floor also cheeses them, but that's a bit more it's own thing

it is % based from my understanding, so if you have like 10 zombies standing there trying to get to you a % of them will crawl under
and then once those are gone another check will be done and another wave of them will come at you
I 100% think a player with infinite resources should be able to set up a defense that could kill a horde of hundreds or even a thousand zombies while AFK, but IMO it should feel like a feat of infinity/prep/work, and not "this 1 weird trick completely negates the zombie apocalypse."

You could always use noisemakers if you're willing to grind the electrical xp, it's a method I used to corral larger groups away from my home if I see them getting too close

I think it could be interesting if the cooking system was revamped such that the character can get sick of eating similar foods every day, where if, say, you eat cabbage-based meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 days in a row, you start to get sick of it, and if you continue, you REALLY get sick of it, and the sick-of-it-ness decreases over time. Kinda like if the player had a meter for every basic foodstuff sick-of-it-ness that naturally decreases, but increases slightly every time you eat it or a food mostly containing it.
That's probably unnecessary to implement, but I think it'd be a neat way to discourage users from banking on eating the same thing every day.
But I like forcing my dude to eat cabbage, cabbage, and more cabbage for the rest of his waking days :(

Lots of fish straight up can’t adapt, most need live food, and the tank needs to be kept in a very specific way

the new farming overhaul kind of balances the types of food you get now that i think about it
takes longer to grow, so you want to plant more, but they also need a lot more care like weeding, killing pests, etc. Meaning if you don’t wanna micromanage a lot then you would grow a fairly sized but not so big field where you would get a fine amount of yield, but also cut down on managing. This then forces you to find other ways of getting food like looting or raising animals. The update finally stops making cabbage the best and easiest thing to grow without needing to leave the base now we’ll be able to have variety of food. Unless of course you do love the micromanaging and don’t mind a 2 acre field of plants lol but at that point that’s your passion

Does anyone actually turn on zombie respawn? I've always turned it off, but starting to think it might make things a little more challenging. Now that I cleared out most of Muldraugh, there's no real danger doing my day to day tasks like going fishing or farming. I'm so safe I never bothered boarding up the house or even building walls (granted my safe house is in the gated community.)
