yeah the new heat map might be little much for new players that jump straight into apoc i would try the survivior mode or builder and see how it is. Also you can find books and stuff in commercial vans, on zombies for higher tier ones i hardly get my books at library and schools anymore wayyy better places to find them but its prolly a tad overwhelming for you if you just jumped in so its understandable

I mentioned by observation months prior to B42 that people would think there are more zeds.
The number of zeds has not increased. They are just spread out more. So now a city like Rosewood has 3,000 zombies spread across the town instead of 1,500 of them along the main road and the other 1,500 spread out in a way that puts maybe 20 at the school.
Combat being re-vamped also makes early game (as in prior to skill levels 4) much more difficult.
Just takes some time to re-learn game mechanics. Or if you want more of a B41 feel, reduce zombie population to 0.5
