the general synopsis is it's about a detective (Anna Torv) who investigates weird "fringe science" cases. it starts off as a sort of "creature of the week" deal like you'd see in typical X-Files episodes, but there's a deep overarching plot that they uncover more of in each episode, like unwrapping an onion so to speak. but it's a mind trip with some sorta supernatural elements. not ghosts/demons but more like alternate realities, telepathy, etc

my favorite thing about it is that every season the show basically reinvents itself. I don't want to spoil anything but it all fits in the show's universe and every "shift" has a pivotal role in the show's story

it has a final conclusion too. the show didnt get canceled so it got a full ending and everything gets wrapped up nicely. 5 seasons, but it really picks up in the 2nd season. that's when the show kicks off for me

it's also got Leonard Nimoy, who starts appearing fairly regularly in S2 😄

Bottle caps were a currency in fallout 1. A settlement called the hub used caps as a water backed currency. Unlike water it was light weight, common enough, didn't decay, you know the rest.

However during the events of fallout 2, the rise of the NCR implemented a strong fiat currency, Bottle caps would be rendered useless by the time of fallout 2.

The rest of the series implemented bottlecaps in a rather half hazard way. Ignoring the fact people would come up with their own unique currencies across the nation, Bottle caps replaced the ncr dollar despite it still being a strong currency. And that's ignoring the fact that caps are supposed to be in place for water (which the NCR would be using as well).

The real reason they brought back caps was because they're lazy, and wanted to appeal to the fan service and ignoring the growth that has happened in the world

It’s mostly labor cost. Because somebody has to manually put in the code, and then manually authorize a copy of the game to get download it from the companies storage.

The digital key is literally a key to unlock their server and download a copy of the game directly to you.

That cost is basically paying the IT guys hourly wage of 15 bucks an hour plus the time it takes them to push a button
