Seems like short blade, probably an issue due to changing skills
I havnt confirmed in game though
I don't mind at all, though as I went back to change the headers and add something else on I see it's already been set to redirect
I just moved it to Help:Rendering item models though I wonder if maybe it should be called "Rendering models" if we ever want to expand beyond that? (@digital helm exported vehicle and animal models, but it's automated for the most part). The outfit models are done by @proud cobalt thanks to SimKDT's script too, so it's mostly models we need ๐
Also thanks a lot for all the models, I'm only slowly catching up ๐
I don't really do clothing, but the process should be the same with only minor differences, I could add them on too if wanted.
I also left a redirect from your user page, but if you don't need that, I can remove that. I'll then add links to the navbox for sure so people can find it easier
as in clothing models on players and not the ons lying on ground?
I think it was an issue with t-shirts with decal not shown on the ground
yeah, I found it to be a little finicky, but that was before I figured out the .x thing with the error and such. The ground models are probably a non-issue, but I imagine it'd be prefered to have the worn version on the wiki pages
I started playing b42 again after getting burnt out of the server I've been on, so I'm finally coming back with motivation to get them in. I considered using that "Wiki that!" mod to make it simpler to see if something had an image already when I encountered it, but it unfortunately sends an error every time you right click and I'm a bit warry on keeping anything that causes errors of any kind just for save safety.
Also, should the straight razor be turned into StraightRazor_Closed_Model.png and Straight_Razor_Open_Model.png, similar to how the multitool has an open and closed variant? I saw that the image name was already set to Multitool_Closed_Model.png but the same isn't true for the straight razor
I think that @digital helm was the last one to mess with that?
at least I briefly remember us discussing that back then
Wiki that! should make things easier, yeah, but was a while since I used it myself ๐ค Will see at home but in general, the code is here: https://github.com/SirDoggyJvla/Wiki-That and @flint vapor might be of help with any issues I guess?
I'm pretty sure it's just a minor issue relating to how it checks for if you're right clicking on something
I'm no coder despite my efforts so I wouldn't know too much
BTW, what server is it? I kinda have an itch to start playing PZ again, though of some wiki community server, but that kinda died off; maybe after stable ๐ Right now the remaining scraps of time goes to actual wiki editing and getting things neat and orgniazed (though it's mostly Vail and Calvy working under the hood right now, I'm just there but not tackling anything major yet.
Models are much needed though, Calvy is the one mostly updating the item pages and who did the merges, there are still some red links from it and Vail is working on moving morethings to Lua since we have that.
I fiddle with GitHub and finished IT studies but sadly I'm not versed enough (||or too lazy to do||) too ๐
It was WastelandRP, biggest (I think?) rp server rn, I'm actually on their art team funnily enough, having doing the wiki images to thank for getting me started with blender which resulted in it.
It's been nice to just play the game normally again though, as much as I do love doing characters.
I think the names in the infobox should be automatically generated now, and that should be a suggestion? But in case you change them I think they'll be overwritten o nchange. @digital helm would be of more help here, but both Vail and Calvy are from AU so might take a while for them to pop with a reply ๐
I also noticed that there's 4 different models for the toilet brush, the holder, brush in holder, brush by itself, and a dirty brush
Those could just be added to a gallery on the item page, I suppose, though I don't know if they're actually used
Uh ?
the brush is used to clean stains, guess that's why
Report issues on the mod pages of mods you use ๐
Hey, im translating the Brave trait to Spanish, but i dont get what the "+10% grapple effectiveness" means or what it does... ๐ค
shouldnt that be negative grapple?
ie zeds dont grapple aka grab you as easy?
grapple somewhat like wrestling something.
No idea, Iโm guessing that it was just the % to push a zed when they try to grab you up front, I made the page but I didnโt add it cause thatโs the only thing I got left to know.
I asked in mod_dev if anyone could point me to where all those are defined at but no-one replied but IG it mentions nothing of this says only... "Less prone to becoming panicked" nothing more (atleast in V42)
if you have less than 50% grapple effectiveness, you can't grapple
the only thing grappling is used for currently is dragging corpses
i don't think it's actually possible to have less than 50%
ah thanks Albion I was thinking it was a defensive stat so you dont let zeds grapple the player as easily cuz they dont panic as easy
Hmm, Iโm just gonna leave it like it is right now, if anyoneโs got more info or if itโs more useful then Iโll translate it and add it or youโre free to add it if you can
Hey! Noticed you two don't have userboxes! Redux, you should totally use the translation contributor one
?
I was just looking at the leveling section and i think it's got some wrong information, for all the levels past 2 the amount of crafts it says you need if you read the book only considers the book multi being 3
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knapping#Leveling_Knapping
Feel free to make an account and update it. No email or other personal info required
Ooh, but I donโt know what it is or how to do that thoughโฆ
Oh okay, ill check it out in my free time and use the one you said! Thanks!
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Metal_Drum needs some serious work because a metal drum does nothing but burn wood and make heat. its not what you use to make charcoal
this is probably based on build 41
its 42.7.x... so yeah outdated
This is starting to look a bit more blue-ish than before
Where high thirst at
Feel free to update it
have to do some research cuz I think they heat you now. I know I sworn I was holding my hands out in a gettign warm animation I think lol
Maybe something to fix lol, it's from my modding wiki feedback form
๐
Just for checking: this should say "decreases the chance of food illness" right? cause i changed it.
here's a question do we need to go and update versions now for everything for when a update like .17 drops does stuff automatically get updated or not?
also can someone drop the link for 'outdated' pages again I lost it.
A lot of pages are automatically generated, and thus it's just a dependent on Calvy (or someone else too can do it too idk ?) to run the bot to update those pages
Yeah, currently it's pretty much @proud cobalt doing these for stuff like infobox or history, though keep in mind that some parts will still need to be updated manually afterwards (most notably the page version at the top).
is it godmode and not godmod for sure? I think it used to be changed in the past, but was actually godmod? Can someone check? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Admin_commands&curid=36655&diff=1361361&oldid=1348537
and the user then reverted it https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Admin_commands&diff=next&oldid=1308885
I changed it
because its 'both
dunno why but it is I even bug reported this and the several commands that are missing info on them
I originally thought it was just a typo but then I even typo'd the command out and thats how I was like hmmm okay odd. both commands worked.
Version: [42.16.x] Mode: [Multiplayer] Server settings: [Dedicated] Mods: [None] Save: [New Save] Reproduction steps: in Console or In Game chat box type in the "help" command to list all help commands and info Pretty straight forward. Just list all commands allowed via help. Here is the list of ...
Im loading up dedi now to double check it still there to be sure if its not I'll correct it but I went thru the list of commands earlier before updating the version and far as I seen nothing got changed there with the update
screenshot direct from console.
wait, so both work?
as I see that modemod was the only one that theew error?
oh yeah, I see now, probably best to note that
can you check if something like godmodx work too? @feral flame
idk if this is the right place to ask, but there is no blacksmith room with a metal shelf, also there are two versions of it apparently?
There's a Bug template https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Bug in the wiki so might use it to avoid confusion later on ๐
is this a mistake or is it just in the code but not in the map itself?
Most likely code, as both map and data from wiki (unless someone changed it manually afterwards) are imported from the game directly
Keep in mind that there are some room defs that are not used currently at all, too
alright got it, thanks for the clarification
We got more tiles in the files now
I wonder what city will they add now.. it even has a name
Oh
Riverside revamp
yeah I can check. sorry my dang modem dropped out and then wouldnt re'sync
No luck with godmodx....
Thanks! I noticed you did noted the bug, I just realized that relater ๐ I just replaced it with the Bug template https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Admin_commands&diff=1362285&oldid=1362257
Do whatever ya gotta do, wont hear me complain Im a total newbie when it comes to wiki stuff
Spiffo Inc.
the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Spawning_map.png says Spiffo Corp
its not in the game yet
yeah, but we got two different names ๐
well maybe it gets fixed on release
heyo, I'm a new pzwiki editor and want to contribute
I specifically want to add locations of statics spawns for the Large Industrial Sink page
anything I should know beforehand?
I see there's already a section on its Usage, would be alright to add a new section titled Locations
so far I have screenshots and coords for the static spawns in Muldraugh
Cool more shit to do lol
Spiffo Corp has many branches and subsidiaries
hate to be a bother, but would my additions to the above page be alright
Does anyone else think the firearm paragraph of "Drive-by shooting" for every single firearm is incredibly repetitive and somewhat useless?
Surely there is a better way than repeating basically the same paragraph multiple times.
spiffo land when?
Not sure how would that be of use
currently large industrial sinks have no fail chance to break, making them ideal to get
also, documenting where to find specific appliances and furniture can be beneficial to base builders
I wouldn't especially currently. Based on #pzwiki_editing message i assume we're getting changes to the map
ah, i see
appreciate the assistance, ill correct my coords and screenshots after the map change
Definitely don't add screenshots, that would be too much. Coords would be ok
oki doki
Not sure if it's worth adding to Easter eggs page as well @tulip kiln? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Bob_Smith&curid=748&diff=1361373&oldid=1349093
similar with reloading kinda, I think the reloading was made a template at one point?
Bumped https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bob_Smith btw to 42.17, but I've been wondering are the outfits still there? has anything change since? From the infobox:
|outfit=Bob
|guid=3452cec9-54ba-4632-b5b2-15aa17d9d277
|items=Shoes (black), Socks, Pants (jeans), Formal Shirt, School Bag<!--Shoes_Black, Socks_Ankle, Trousers_DefaultTEXTURE_TINT, Shirt_FormalTINT, Bag_SchoolBag-->
Not sure who messed with outfits last time, I think it was you @serene sage?
We have more of those:
The infobox data was based on 41.78.16 from what Vail posted back then, but we should have much better outfit data/handling now ๐
honestly I have no clue, havenโt really touched outfits since B42
I dont think it had changed
But tbh I haven't touched them
I checked other outfits but not them
ah nvm...
touching both outfits and a comment earlier about updating the wiki from new updates. search failed to find this mentioned here, and the wiki is killing my phone for some reason at the moment, but there is a bug report on the forums about leather jackets / coats now taking up more layer slots than before and only allowing a base shirt on the chest underneath. Not sure if the auto updater grabbed / reflects that?
Any idea what's causing the b42map.com room and grid overlays to be fucked on my laptop? My desktop has identical OS, browser and screen resolution (chromium, win 11, 1920x1080) and it's perfectly aligned. They appear too small and stacked stone n the top left corner, zooming in brings them closer to correct size and position towards the bottom right corner.
Hmm. It seems there might be a race condition for detecting the screen resolution, when it's interfered by "Do you want to set this as your default browser???" popup.
||Incorrect usage of the term race condition, I know||
Oh, it might also have to do with tab-stacking, if you enter b42map.com from a stacked tab for the first time without any cookies.
We never ended up adding the layer slots to each item page, beyond the body location in the infobox. That links to a list of all the slots and slots that can't be worn with each other, but that hasn't been updated by the looks of it.
@proud cobalt I'll take a look over the weekend and send to you to be added to the updater.
Marksman is marked as "removed from the game" because:
It has been replaced by something else.
But doesn't link to what trait replaced it, nor does it have a version page which makes it kind of hard to know if that was a B41 trait, removed in B42, or removed in one of the patches of B42
@violet wave also should interest you since you marked it as impacting the critical chance but that trait is now removed
it was removed years back, i don't think it really bears much thought
i don't think it was even in b40
Oh
Wait, so did the CriticalChance impact from that trait that Marz brought up has basically been an unreachable condition for literal years ?
yeah
I haven't dug the Java myself on that, but I'd found surprising Marz going schizo on something like that and imagining it
its code has never been removed
Aw man
if there were a way to get the trait, it would still function
I suppose yea
Yes, in the Java it may be present, but the trait literally doesn't exist anymore lol
That's what this is about here
And it hasn't been in the game in ages
made copilot do a quick analysis told me this
No. CriticalChance is the base crit stat for the weapon itself, not something that only matters if the player has Marksman.
The decompiled runtime path is in zombie/characters/IsoPlayer.java. calculateCritChance(target) starts from handWeapon.getCriticalChance() at zombie/characters/IsoPlayer.java, then branches:
Ranged: it adds aiming-perk crit bonus, then adjusts for distance, aim delay, moodles, weather, and movement. Marksman is only one extra modifier here: +10.0F at zombie/characters/IsoPlayer.java.
Melee: it still starts from the same handWeapon.getCriticalChance(), then modifies it with two-hand penalties, charge time, weapon skill, moodles, and zombie toughness at zombie/characters/IsoPlayer.java.
So Marksman does not โenableโ CriticalChance. It just adds a flat ranged bonus on top of the existing weapon crit chance. Even with no Marksman trait, the weaponโs CriticalChance is still part of the crit roll.
That computed value is then actually rolled in combat at zombie/CombatManager.java and also in another shot consequence path at zombie/characters/IsoPlayer.java. If the roll succeeds, crit damage gets applied in zombie/characters/IsoGameCharacter.java.
One more detail: getCriticalChance() itself is not just a raw field read. In zombie/inventory/types/HandWeapon.java, it returns the weaponโs crit chance, multiplied by sharpness when applicable. So for sharp weapons, sharpness also feeds into the final crit chance before Marksman is even considered.
If you want, I can turn the decompiled ranged crit formula into a compact exact formula for firearms only.
looks like im gonna be reading even more manually today
Wtf are we suppose to do about this Marz
while it exists in the code, the marksman trait has not been in the game for years and years
dont worry fellas
I will go insane myself
@flat sun how many years have you been reading the decompiled code to get this familiar?
probably around 4 years
im gonna do a good ol manual test
why TIS included those stats in the new weapons...
Hmm ?
CriticalChance
wait I thought that CriticalChance was not being consumed at all outside of the marksman case. hence why I rush to read the code again
come to think of it i didn't even think guns still had crits
The +10 bonus you get that you documented in the file you shared with me will never apply because the trait which would add this bonus no longer exists
So it's an unreachable condition which you documented
at the very least headshots are guaranteed crits now, i guess body shots might still be able to? if you didn't aim for the head for some reason ๐
its a bit strange how stats work in firearms. I know perks and stats affect some.
like strenght and aiming making weapons in single fire fire faster
but the combat stats themselves are a puzzle to me
Only 5 left (need to add first aider) and ill finish the positive trait list translation for Spanish :P
hell yeah
FYI, the Trapping page says itโs updated for 42, but the Park Ranger skill information on that page is out of date.
says right at the top might need improvement info might be based on build 41
Just realized that I can use this same thing to share modding news here
Done! Gonna start with the negatives either tomorrow or this weekend :)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Moodle#Pain
alcohol here links to item#drink, which no longer exists, should it link to fluid?
btw opinions on a possible startup tweaking page so people stop getting suggested to edit game files in general (cuz verify/updates can get wipe out your changes)
actually nvm forgot we got a page for startup params already
how does one add in a row for the 'References' section. want to quote official java documentation for something.
RE: not sure how to go about adding that reference at the bottom.
Yeah it probably should
Like how we have == See also == you can also do == External links ==. For an actual reference, use ref tags https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Cite
Cite makes it possible to add footnotes to a page.
See Extension:Cite for technical details.
I hate being the one to poke but not do much work, my time lately sucks, and I have not had time to really learn the automation tools, but the vhs page is still back on .11 and doesn't have all the new tapes
Automation is the way to go yeah, maybe I'll take a look later as I think we have a script, but it's mostly Calvy and Vail doing that and Calvy is on a break right now ๐ Not sure if you had anything in plans @serene sage too?
btw kinda stuck on handling on a few odd startup parameters.
asked in Mod_dev but didnt get any reply to this: Anyone familiar with pz's startup params/args? trying to make head or tails of some of the -D options like -Ddebug which kinda makes no sense java wise...?
Cuz well both -Ddebug and -Dsoftreset don't comply with usage for -D<system.property>=<value>
main reason this confusing me is from official java documentation
-D<system.property>=<value> will only be visible at build time. If this system property is accessed in the native executable, it will return null. that and there isnt even a boolean or value even trying to be assigned so totally scratching my head on these.
I can check the script for the VHS page itself, but each individual VHS page would need to be done with the bot, which calvy manages.
@lilac wigeon note the version in the header is just the 'manually reviewed by a human version'. So the data could actually be more up-to-date, since the bot intentionally doesn't update it
no plans in terms of automating the articles into existence, Iโll just go over them and discuss its contents in the articles once they exist
I feel good that my edits were good enough so that he left them as is and just added more trivia himself
how do i become a wiki guy?
Create an account and you're done
Hey I'm not joking ๐
Create an account and you can start editing
you will be credited if you will do any meaningful entry each month too ๐ And since you have a role you will get a ping each month it happens (closest one is in two days :D)
While technically a guide, it uses "you" referencing directly to a player, I wonder if we want to keep it that way? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Survival_Guide&diff=1362855&oldid=1353755
Also there's some title case vs sentence case headers. I originally wanted the survival guide be more aligned with the one in the game, especially now that the survival guide has improved, but not sure how it fits the current wiki page?
Going through some of your model changes (thanks a lot @sage badge!) I noticed that the razor model is no longer blue; is it just the icon that's totally blue now as per https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Razor#Trivia, or do we still have two models for it? Was there really a blue model? I remember seeing it but I can't find the model uploaded anywhere I think? Just have these two (both with yellow hand and no past history, although there should be one from 2023 as that's when @digital helm moved it? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Model_Razor.png ๐ค):
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Razor_Model.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:RazorHeld_Model.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Photo_People2_Model.png Is this a reference to someone btw? I initially thought of Mia from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/The_Forgotten_Element but I think not
I only see a yellow handled texture when looking through the textures, it could just be another b41 screwdriver case, mismatched colors with the model and icon
yeah, proably the note needs to be adjusted so it's just the icon that's different now ๐
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Multitool_Open_Model.png I guess it's used when holding?
I'm unsure, I saw the model and decided to add it while I was working through some items, it may not actually show up, like how the toilet brush has 4 different models but I only believe 1 is visible in game
There's some other models that I haven't put in because I don't think they're accessable in game, such as the toilet brush and there's some crucible variations that don't have wiki pages
You can use toiler brush as a cleaning tool for stains, so I assume that's where they are used
similar to items like Bucket when it was used for animations https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bucket#Gallery_2
That would make sense, didn't know that was a feature, I just assumed they were junk items
There are two variants for the toilet brush, a normal and dirty version, so for adding the gallery that shows the held item similar to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Razor#Gallery (Which might be unnecessary as the held and world object model are identical?) I would assume adding both variants would be preferable
Adding onto the razor, it doesn't appear to have a model when held in the hand, though that could be caused by a mod I have. As well as I found out what happened with the razor, in game they appear to be blue, if the single one that I've found is an indicator, but there are two different razor textures: a blue version in the WorldItems folder, and an orangish one in the textures folder. When I was moving textures over to make getting renders easier, the orange one must've overrided the blue one, as they both have the same exact file name, so you weren't misremembering.
I even udpated wiki for that back then ๐ https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Toilet_Brush โ more items that can clear stains are here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cleanstains_(tag)
It also has this tag, not sure what is it used explicitly https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Toiletbrush_(tag)
if they are identical, then no need, but if there's even a minor difference then yeah.
Might also be worth keeping eye in future in case them being identical is placeholder
I was thinking the same about the change of the ingame guide! But idk how it could (if) change it? I got distracted so didn't gave it a proper look ngl. Also the "you" is okay in that case(?) feels more friendly and in a game as brutal as pz can be, I think a guide that doesn't feel clinical is the best option
Idk what you think about the "you", Faal?
technically it's a guide, so don't have to be so encyclopeadic as the rest of the wiki, so I guess it's fine?
Yeah, I was thinking about it as the editing for beginners page!
Makes it friendlier imo
Just noticed that there are 787 articles translated to spanish, I'm sure there were around 560 when I returned last year. Damn this thing grows fast
Maybe less, ~560 is when I started paying attention!
@sage badge has the wrong model for sympathy card been fixed or have you changed it by hand? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Sympathy_Card&curid=119231&diff=1361917&oldid=1328695 I suppose bot will override it, unless TIS fixed it then I have to remove the trivia ๐ https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Sympathy_Card#Trivia
Was a while but since we have models now thanks to @sage badge I added the transcription, trivia and video to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/ID_Card and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Security_Pass_Key_Ring ๐
Funny, the place is Knox County where it probably should be COUNTRY, and name is different "MR.A.MAN" vs "MR. A. MANN", the address is clearly "13", but the only number is the Brandenburg's one 712 from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Brandenburg_Shelter_Flier.png
Also, is "KNOX CONT" shor for "KNOX COUNTY/CONTRY"? I guess but it's nonstandard?
@feral flame why'd you do these changes ?
Why add the debug launch argument and why put the minimum at 8 ?
I mean I guess for the debug one that's fine
Also make sure you include the style text for the cells, or this removes the whole style to the column (yes that's a dogshit system and extremely annoying to manage)
@digital helm can class="cycle-img be used with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Item_list ? I found it would be handy for images to cycle in variants with some merges when there's more than one item icon
The old autogenerated see also of https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Hominid_Skull_Fossil&diff=1363247&oldid=1326641 were creepy before ๐
because even advising people to use different memory xmx xms is just outright wrong for a low latency programs dealing with GC
https://docs.oracle.com/en/java/javase/25/gctuning/z-garbage-collector.html << officially telling you do it this way
especially when using ZGC
read the 'Note' part in the middle of that page.
I advise people the same stuff when helping in 42 chat... GC resizing causes major latency when it cleans up then tries to reallocate more or less memory
I mean technically it could be as low as 4gig but key part is making xmx/xms the same value
Yeah, it's been fixed, just checked
Regarding the razor aswell, it looks like Vaileasys made the same mistake I did when getting a model for the razor, though that was all the way back in 2021, I just didn't notice there was already a model on the page, odd that it was only put down as a "held" variant of it instead of just the item's model
considering that the "held" model is the same as the main model image, would it not be better to remove the held version and have only the one image
but the model too?
Yup, it looks all good from when I checked
@serene sage might be worth merging your zombie page soon as we're starting to get the B42 info on the existing page now ๐ https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Zombie&curid=4&diff=1362389&oldid=1354609
Interesting, I'll read that a bit later
k, yeah Im no expert for wiki stuff so sorry about the formatting thing likely cuz I edited that visual mode. But yeah I found out that lil tid bit when my own game was being more laggy as of late so I went thru old MC/java documentation and found out that oracle outright gives a GC tweaking page for all their GC methods.
so far only heard of 1 person have issues with what I been suggestioning to people on memory settings, and that was only because they outright didnt have 8gig of ram free (let alone 4 gigs) turned out they just needed to restart their comp cuz something ate up all their ram and GC's dont like using swap file fake memory
@digital helm I think it was you who added the encumbrance table? Not sure if it's indeed wrong? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Talk:Container&curid=14163&diff=1362343&oldid=822113
It can. Need to use the tag-image parameter instead of icon
Having a quick look at the table it appears accurate, but I'll have to verify
A little late, but technically still before UTC's midnight, here's the monthly summary <@&1205891296565268520>! Enjoy! https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:News#April_2026_summary

cheater
Won't be the first time ๐
and he's proud, boouuuuuh
Well, at least I didn't modify the date after posting ๐
new here but
that'd use all images from a tag, right? I wanted to use it to rotate images in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Pillow#Variants (pillow is grouped with a crafted one whilt the heart have two variants and star have three different colors)
noted for the future ๐
It's not named very well. It's essentially an empty field, so you can add anything in there. Intended for the entire image whereas icon is just the image name, i.e. Image.png
For the pillow you could definitely use it there

Is it just me, or are all of the Advanced Forge recipes missing from the Blacksmithing crafting table?
Noticed a mistake on the M14 rifle page (it says M1A), canโt really fix it myself since editing sucks on mobile but Iโll leave it here if anyone has some free time
Likely be easier to just make a whole new page wouldnt it? re html cuz of renaming links names all that nonsense?
Most pages were moved actually based on the game files, the guns didn't got a push, but we saw a few editors doing edits.
I batch dumped the translations I had ready, and they were only 8 ๐ญ I thought there were more because of how long it took me
Updated but feels bad to have this as an infobox pic
Along with info available only being words from what seems like Nick in 2011 and mobygames page
Not sure if Nick was in touch with Lemmy and Binky since? When I was archiving the 2011 blogs then the communications from Lemmy and Binky stopped at one point, due to all the fallout after the stolen laptops and it was kinda cut there
more or less
i mean pretty much everyone follows each other on twitter and tags

not sure about Binky and Lemmy, but other folks moved to BlueSky since ๐
Some people had definetly (at least attempted to) move to https://mastodon.social
binky is on both bsky and mastodon
mastodon had its brief moment of popularity for open source enthusiast / linux users, but never cought major attention. Bluesky did because of what happened with Twitter
@proud cobalt @languid kayak do we have a sort of manifest of associated wiki pages to item full types ? Perhaps with the wiki parser tool ?
Or are there already all the necessary redirects to go from the in-game names of items to the wiki page, or there can be cases where it won't properly link to the item ?
Hello all, I just got home from my time away in the bush. Give me some time to settle in and catch up on everything
There should be redirects for every item ID to its appropriate page, it may be a couple updates behind since i've last run the redirect fixer. It doesn't include the module though, just the ID (everything should be Base. as of B42)
What's that table from?
Even better, didn't think of that
From the Lua parser I made
That works, though one caveat: the images when clicked don't link to an item itself but to an image. I guess we want them to behave consistently with other variants?
Also, I agree the name is confusing, and also the syntax is long enough; I'm not sure if it's worth adding proper support for multiple icons with easier syntax for the end user, as it's not something done automatically anyway, and by the user? Multiple icons for items existed before merges, but after merges, they are even more important, I guess. ๐
Finally, I'm not sure, but is the end goal to move all the templates to Lua/modules now? Or is it just for certain templates/elements of the templates @digital helm? We also discussed moving documentation to a more user-facing format with the visual editor addition, I didn't purusre it yet, but I think we can revive the old documentation project for that?

added a bot task to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#One-time_bot_tasks but not sure why it breaks with </span? task5 works ๐ค. @proud cobalt if you want a light job for the bot btw ๐
lmao
Is XP rewards defined in a single place or they located like by the specific stat its for.
I think i found a mistake in the wiki, a friend was able to find the cookie jar - teddy bear item, and yet the wiki has it as 0.00% on all spawning containers
this is an incredibly low chance rounded down to 0.00%, containers where the item can't spawn at all aren't listed
that could possibly be displayed better
ah got it, thanks for the answer
@proud cobalt (i assume you would be the one who botted this) do you think that could be made to display as <0.01% instead?
Anyone know if Protein Boost stopped at the start of Version 42 or sometime between its release and now?
nvm yeah its still a thing I just had it up too high
or 0.01% at least, though might be misleading if that's below (or just list it with more zeroes for sorting)
Probably my largest edit ever
The link just needs to be included in the image, like in any other situation linke=
It might be something to look at eventually with Lua migration.
Lua migration is to 1) improve performance, 2) improve functionality, 3) improve maintenance.
It likely won't be necessary to have every single template a Lua module.
I was going to start adding TemplateData when I move templates over to Lua, in case there ends up being changes. Haven't done any yet since I've still just been doing the core templates so far
May not be necessary. I'd hold off for now until we're in a clearer position with Lua migration
more like largest deletion ๐ But IIRC that page was huge, one of the top of the longest pages?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:LongPages room definitions are among the largest too
and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_41/es because it was done pre-splitting
The longest non-distribution non-translation content pages is https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_39 โ I still have plans to split it btw
works now ๐ A little lenghy forthe end user, but I guess I'll push it for the actual pages and we'll use that for now: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Faalagorn/sandbox

Yea I made a doc for those too
The mapping community needed the loot spawn changes for rooms
But yea it took ages to load, which is kind of annoying when that page serves as documentation lol
Normally I don't care about free games on Epic but seems now it's Trash Goblin - I recently added trivia to it :)https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Trash_Goblin#Trivia
is there a reason why https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Stew#Ingredients and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Soup#Ingredients have different format?
indeed ๐ค I think some were added by parser later, that's why?
Stew is probably prefered
With the addition of new gamemodes, meta events and more specifically the Helicopter Event in Extinction mode happens more frequently (The helicopter event happening roughly every couple weeks after the initial event).
I want to be able to contribute to the community here as Project Zomboid is by far my favorite game so I figured I'd chip in here
Also, while I dont know much of anything about code, script, etc. I have extensive knowledge of the game so I was wondering if there was any way for me to help out going forward
Create an account, and you can start editing
I can certainly do that! Let me go create one
Are there any formats I should follow or check ins prior to editing?
Wait, was the summary shared here from last week ?
should be... did we lose pins?
oh yea didn't see it
discord also being wonky atm if no-one noticed
@cobalt bronze saw you wrote that the +25% grapple effectiveness in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Athletic/es is currently unused, but the English page says nothing about it, where did you get the info so we can edit whichever has it wrong?
grapple effectiveness doesn't do anything
I actually asked about it here haha! I assumed it was as such because of this message #pzwiki_editing message (still though, if you want me to change it I can do it)
technically if your grapple effectiveness was low enough you wouldn't be able to drag zombies, but you can't get it that low
I wrote that it was unused for now since you canโt get it that low and itโs a bit easier to understand, but I could reword it so it gets explained better
i'd say it's better to just say it's unused, invisible technical details don't really matter to someone reading the wiki and there's no telling if that mechanic will actually ever be implemented/will work the same way when it is
@robust sluice Our main philosophy is "be bold" which basically means add whatever information you want, so long as it is correct and presentable. (I.e. no repeated grammar errors)
Please try to follow the established formats as well, you can see these by looking at pages similar to the one you are editing/creating. If you do happen to mess something up or break something, dont sweat it too much, someone will come and fix it and we will tell you how to do it so you dont break it again ๐
When in doubt, ask
Anything what's yp
*up
I just wanted to see if this was acceptable:
Before
After:
And I was going to elaborate on each gamemode under "arrival"
Yeah thats cool
Apocalypse and outbreak have it set to once, rising is never, and extinction is "sometimes"
Recent changes are also monitored so you dont have ti ask every time
We check (patrol) the recent changes you can see it in the logs
If youre more interested in the lore side of things, we have a project for that, @serene sage is leader of that
I havent done anything like this before so I apologize for any confusion I might have lol
Lore is my favorite aspect of games (especially in zomboid, I cant wait for it to be expanded) so I would love to meet him :))
You're good i was Hella confused too
When I first started
Check this out, we have a whole list of shit to do
Feel free to go crazy
Does anyone know how often https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Articles_requiring_item_models updates?
Whenever someone removes the associated tracking tag or category in the page. Sometimes it may take a bit for web cache to update to dont stress if its not updated immediately
All the site maintenance categories are automated
Just wondering cause I saw that the framepack was still listed on there when I added an image for it a few days ago
Make sure you didnt accidentally leave a category there or something
Ill check in a sec
I wasnt sure what to add in the little text box after I saved so I just wrote the what and why
THANK YOU
It should be updated instantly/automatically. Because you're not editing the page, sometimes categories can get stuck in the cache, which it looks like might be the case here. A minor edit normally fixes it
Planning to get back into it for the new update since its so close, that way I can make sure the bot is working with the changes
Isn't it it instant? If not then I guess it follows the same rules as image cache, so up to day for unreegistered users. Can try purging cache of the page with the new model to see if it causes it to refresh earlier.
It was stuck for whatever reason, had to do any edit to it, I bumpbed version and added a word and now it's not there ๐ Let me knoe if there's more!
Actually, purging cache would have helped too I guess
That was supposed to be a reply for my message :P?
I wanted to add categories and license to the developer files @lucid junco but realized we have them totally over the place, some are marked at "TIS", some are copyrighted, some are CC, do we potentially have any source what they really are/should be? Might stick "Unknown" for now and move on but it's something I want to get done with eventually ๐ค
These are pretty much the only photos we have and I'm not expert in these, I just know that Wikipepedia got a lot of them they could use due to Flickr's license back in the days ๐
apparently this is wrong in the wiki, being fully fed doesnt affect a fracture? either way the info about fractures and their healing with being fully fed is conflicting with debug and other wiki pages
Feel free to create an account and fix it. If editing is intimidating to you, we have the edit visual function that is more intuitive and doesn't require knowledge of wikitext or markup
well see the main issue is im not sure which is correct, though they said the debug was saying otherwise i havent seen it myself (and dunno how to debug the game myself) so i was wondering if yall could test it yourselves just to be certain? or ill change it when i eventually learn how to debug the game lol
Go into steam properties, launch options, type -debug in launch options and start game
Puts you in debug mode
Heeeeeey you guuuuuys
Garden Fork has no โObtainingโ recipe, yet Garden Fork Head has a โCraftingโ recipe that results in a garden fork.
Perhaps itโs a forged item vs found item thing? Iโm not sure. I havenโt crafted one in-game.
tried this, crashed my game everytime-
You probably have mods enabled. Some mods can cause debug mode to crash or perform unexpectedly
Although admittedly I haven't used debug mode on build 42 versions past 42.6
Feel free to create an account and fix it ๐
lemme try just disabling them bc im not subscribing to them all again lmao, that would be tedious as all hell
That usually fixes it. Disable them and reload the game in standard launch, then again in debug
how do you break a leg in debug?
and also get the zombies to stop chasing you-
Start save with no zeds
And I would just repeatedly jump off a building lol
But there may be an option for it i dont remember
so i tested it myself and it heals .01 in 45 seconds without being fully fed and then .01 in 42 seconds when i did eat food, i think the frature part in the health section of the wiki is wrong-
Go head and update it
need an account but ill do that when i feel up to doing all that stuff to updqate the page
Its free, no email or other id required
im a very lazy person, its just me not wanting to do it lmao. gotta wait till i get that sudden burst of energy that makes me wanna do more then i usually wanna do.
Not specifically, just a general update
hello, i've been wanting to play old versions of the game, primarily the ones i cant find are the pre-steam versions, i was wondering if they are archived somewhere?
Are you looking for any specific version, or just a really old version?
im looking for a few ones actually
whatever the earliest one is
from the alpha period
that is archived
800 articles! Happy noises in Spanish
The last one was a template, which is kinda underwhelming, but still!
Still counts!
Dm'd you
I remember testing cleaning graffiti back then, when putting it to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cleanstains_(tag)#Usage but does it still work? Can't find an option for that in the most recent debug build
Anyway, I updated all tools in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cleanstains_(tag) (and the page itself) to mention cleaning hutches and made some other changes while at it ๐ Also chicken hutches are now merged
Olรฉ
One question, as I think we never got to conclusion, since they were renamed to lowerspace, should we add title to them?
(the tags that is)
pushed that ๐
I'm updating style guide (long overdue); @digital helm what was that supposed to mean? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Help:Style_guide&diff=prev&oldid=392117
Translations as the ones put in the Title for them?
- It is acceptable to use characters that are available on a standard US keyboard, such as <code>"</code> or <code>-</code>. However, proper grammatically correct characters such as <code>โ โ</code> and <code>โ</code> may still be used where appropriate.
Is it still the case? I was confused whether we preferred proper quotes or simple quotes?
@languid kayak did you ever figure out the Grafitti removal method yet?
Its a Can of Gasoline and a dishtowel
Thanks! I assume other items from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cleanstains_(tag) works too? If so I'll probably update the individual pages
I also have to test how many ml of water is needed to clean hatches, it uses less than 250 mL, but not sure if it allows to start cleaning with less
I tried rags so far and seems only a dishtowel with a gas can works so far. lemme try denim and some others
Yep, rags, denim strips, burlap nothing else worked with the gas can but a dishtowel
didnt test painting over it cuz its a normal IG wall so cant paint it but google suggests painting is another method
tried but apparently game dont like me painting walls at all so no luck on verifying that.
rags won't work as they are not in this tag (but it sounds sensible actually), but I wonder if bath towel, sponge, but also toilet brush, grill brush, mop, broom and twig broom will
lemme try the list
bathtowel, sponge, toilet brush, grill brush, mop, broom, twig broom all verified, option to clean/remove grafitti shows up with them
Anyone here knows if the trait โMasonโ has an actual translation on the game for ES so i can add its name and description? Wanted to add it to the wiki but if it doesnโt have one Iโll just leave it for later or add a note about itโs translation in the wiki.
Updated https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide โ a lot of cleanups/formatting changes, but also mentioned the new langswitch and secitons and other minor changes that happened since the page was last updated. I was surprised it wasn't more honestly! https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Help%3AStyle_guide&diff=1364205&oldid=1317179
I'm updating other help pages while at it right now.
I think translations aren't there yet for unstable? @gloomy glen might know more for Spanish though
google if its even worth looking at 'A Mason' translate to un albaรฑil which means 'a bricklayer' which sounds right
masonry <> albaรฑilerรญa ??
Yeah Ik, already created the Mason/es page and added a note with a warning that the translation is not official so it may be subjective to changes. In any case if thereโs a problem or I should change something with it just tell me
Although im probably still gonna ask @gloomy glen about it, since I could do the same for โCraftyโ and such traits, but idk if sheโs got a different opinion of it or just to leave it like that for now.
only asking because I just dont know whats the difference in AS vs ES spanish?
Oh, no idea actually lol. But yeah Mason is โAlbaรฑilโ And Masonry is โAlbaรฑilerรญaโ (at least in C.A/Latam Spanish) and they do actually work with brick and stone stuff (talking from experience) :P
I don't translate what doesn't have official translations, so "mason" would stay as "mason". You can add in parenthesis that the translation is albaรฑil, but it should keep the English name until we have an official translation
Think of it that we're translating for people with little to no knowledge of English, so if the game says "mason", you'd search as mason and not the translation because you wouldn't know what the translation is
Oh alright, Iโve actually been doing the parenthesis thing before so Iโll leave it like that.
In any case, doing it like that shouldnโt be a problem right? Cause I can keep working on the others having that in mindโฆ
I don't think there's a problem with the parenthesis, imo it could even help people to get an initial idea of what it is. iirc I did the parenthesis thing when I translated the skills pages
Ooh ok, and yeah I also thought the same about the parenthesis thing thatโs why I started to do it haha. Anyway, Thanks Maca!
I assume so, yes.
That's what was decided during the review month.
The reason I remember is that we can't expect editors to use characters beyond what is on their keyboard. No issue with updating them when coming across them, but making an edit purely to change it is unnecessary imo
I got impression we preferred the simple ones, maybe I confused that in the end ๐
Okay, I'll take a look at maybe how to word it better, but tomorrow ๐ด
Anyway, I updated all the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Contents pages now โ sometimes it was formatting, sometimes it was revamps.
Besides these two, things for tomorrow (hopefully! but wiki timeโข)
- Mentioning adding a full stop after image descriptions in the style guide (from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Faalagorn#Personal_tasks โ it's what originally started me to go through the style guide, I was pretty sure we had a rule saying otherwise somewhere, but it seems we don't have it anywhere?)
- Re-reading / re-writing the pages so they are more consistent in writing (if anyone have suggestions or want to do that, be my guest! This is supposed to be the first page new users are pointed to, so while some pages are more technical or narrow (exporting models, translating, stylesheet reference), at least the beginner ones seem to be encouraging with Spiffo (I added one Spiffo image to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:How_to_help),
- Explicitly mention https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance and more points to help in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:How_to_help
- Update (or maybe even remove parts of) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Creating_a_new_page#Page_format since https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Boilerplates are in bad shape right now
- Once it's all finished, mark translations as outdated and replace the deprecated vector images https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Help_screenshots
- For bonus points, perhaps I'll tackle updating https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid so part of it can actually be showcased in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Citizen_page_actions.webp ๐
If anyone has any further ideas, let me know too. All that took quite a while to go through, but I'm happy I did that, I think these already are in a good shape, especially after these changes. However, going to ๐ด for now though.
I tested it brifly too, and I'll add that tomorrow to all the pages at https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cleanstains_(tag) โ ended up spending too many time with the help pages ๐
my next tackle at the wiki is going to be the debug menu if Im lucky
should I add the quote template to the descriptions in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Exercise ? @languid kayak
well I verified the XP gains by hand if thats what you mean nothing changed
if anything would rather see the images smaller so it isnt so spaced out as much
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Debug_mode that is? It needs love, all is stubbed since B41 ๐
yeah that page I was thinking about taking a stab at
I use it enough lol
gonna wait for next update before I do kinda would be moot to try now. betting update coming either today or tuesday
might be, since it's officially teased, but judgding from the rough blog notes, I don't think anything with it changes, so you can start early and just cross-check later
I'll tkae a peek and start planning it tomorrow waiting on someone to stream so I can turn mine on. (albeit different game)
Can't easily check it right now, but IIRC cleaning blood and stains both use bleach, right? And both the option and the amount of bleach taken is the same for both I assume? Not sure you want to check it @feral flame?
What I have for the bath towel for example right now:
If the player has a dried bath towel and a fluid container with at least 250 mL of bleach or cleaning liquid, right-clicking a stained wall or floor will show the "Clean Stains" option, allowing cleaning of blood or grime stains. This is currently purely cosmetic and will not affect the player's health.
It can also be used to clean graffiti with gasoline.
Finally, it can be used to clean a chicken hutch with water .
Also, I'd probably be best to check
- How much exactly liquid is used up
- What's the minimum amount of liquid has to be in the bottle in order to start the action
We basically have three cleaning actions using this stains, each with different liquids https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cleanstains_(tag)
- Stains (blood and grime): bleach or cleaning liquid
- Graffiti: gasoline
- Dirty chicken hutches: water (tainted or clean shouldn't matter)
Might be best to dig into the code to verify, but if not I'll probably test it in-game later.
I'm not sure if all of these have animations, but if you will be missing with models @sage badge don't be surprised if you see them for cleaning ๐ I think not all of these items have an actual model in hand for all the actions (at least not yet)
Only if it's a direct quote. In which case, state that it is as the author
measuring how much now so far cleaning fluid is 1/2 a bottle of 500 so 250ml for 1 square
@digital helm I see the intro in https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Help:Editing_for_beginners&oldid=35248 is there from a beginning, and is unchanged since, not sure if I get the meaning right?
Welcome to the editing for beginners guide! This is designed to get you editing quickly without filling your head with too much information. If that's your thing, then I'd recommend you take a look at the Help:Contents page.
Does "This" refers to the page user is at, right? As it later points the user to the contents page, maybe I'll try to reword it to be a little less ambiguous as it seems to refer to both this page and content as a starting point ๐
250ml for both each cleaning.
stains we mostly have, I'd have to check gasoline and water though
get 4 uses out of a 1L bottle of bleach or 2 out of a bottle of cleaning fluid
so graffiti and hutches
hutches I got no clue about I never deal with animals. I can tell you the gas stats in a moment Im based up with a place that has tons of grafitti on it
cleaning Grafitti is 1.25 liters of gas per clean (new full 10L can went down to 8.8L) just did it again its down to 7.5L... had to double check
yeah just double checked you get 8 uses out of a full 10L gas can.
So far I changed the wording to "page" but may reword that later ๐
I test both near Rusty on debug ๐
That's quite a lot actually lol. But so be it ๐
I assume you can't start the action with less than 1.25 at all?
if they add gas spoilage, I guess that'd be use for a spoiled gas actually
sorry had a phone interview lemme try and see if I can set the fuel to < 1.25
and yeah you cant even start it. oddly burning a corpse is only 0.10 of a liter...
oh I started on debug just a tiny bit first think Im gonna work on the images first but spacing seems like its going to be a problem. (that and caching to see the changes)
spacing? As in in the text? if so then Clear would solve that (it starts text after image)
for hutches it seems while you need water, even 10 ml will allow you to start
that'll use all water, mind you, but will drop that 1% off
Updated and bumped all the cleaning tools to 42.18.0 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cleanstains_(tag). I didn't explicitly mention the tainted water. Also, updated https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Chicken_Hutch to mention the tooltip not listing all the items
Maybe I'll tackle https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Clearashes_(tag) too
I do wonder, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Dish_Towel have two models but https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bath_Towel has only one, right? Also, is wet and dirty dish towel the same encumbrance?
umm got my game open right now lemme look.
as for the spacing yeah just vertical spacing so the fields line up with the images on the right.
Clear after paragraphs should solve it then if I understand the issue correctly
dish towels wet/dry are the same encumbrance.
bath towels are 0.5 wet vs 0.3 for dry
also is there different sizes for bold?
here's a visual example to explain what I was meaning more.
Added a content parameter to Navbar/sandbox
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbar/sandbox#With_content
Goal being that I will use that to display new modding information in the Navbar/modding
Im also re-ordering alot of the stuff cuz now except general debuggers everything is listed alphabetically.
The Debug menu one right ?
yes Im trying to tackle that nice mess there
Yea I saw your recent changes, I think that pages needs a whole rework
My vision is that each debug tool will have its own page
And that page will link to those individual pages
I've got no idea ๐ it's pretty poor regardless. Probably needs to be rewritten. I don't understand the meaning either
Kind of like this you know:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Attachment_Editor
And
The Debug menu page dates back before I took the leads of the modding wiki, so it's really not great lol
No one uses it
okay lemme know right now Im mainly just trying to update/add in all the images to the latest version
not sure why but the main debug image is still caching to the old image even though Im logged in and says it should have updated in a hour vs a whole day later
the updated one is almost twice as tall as the original
You have to wait a bit
And later you have to reload the page with cache reset
Usually it's ctrl + F5 or some shit like that
Sadly you'll have to be patient
I usually have to wait a day ๐
okay so the image info about the hour isnt accurate, understood.
different sizes for bold? What do you mean?
The image is mostly suffering from old cache, yeah
well if we going to have individual pages for each menu its not relative but like example there is Main and Dev debug page. so I would see them as being a bold or larger font size. then sub menus, being the next size down example general debuggers is a menu in a menu... if that makes sense
I was the one adding stubs back then ๐ Was supposed to be my side project back then, but things went different route, as always ๐
The sections are completely fucked up
Feel free to redo that whole page lmao
Like I mentioned tho, I'd prefer to see each tools getting their own pages
and I totally agree with that but thats way over my head Im still a big noob when it comes to wiki stuff. at least I can help right now by adding in the missing/changed menu images
Yea that's fine
okay got a few more done and oh boy those menus are big. trying to splice them together was a pain but think it came out looking decent for now.
I deleted the strategy section in the burger flipper page. The argument depended on the difference of starting points with diy expert and the use of a trait for the advantage, but since the diy expert has a lower cost, imo it no longer works as strategy. I would appreciate if someone could give it a look to confirm I didn't mess up. Also let me know if I'm not explaining myself, ty
Not sure when it was added, but I think we had a brief discussion, and we weren't in genral fond of strategy sections, but rather explaining mechanics in aencyclopedic sense ๐
Traits kinda need some love. Skills too; I originally planned to go through skills and went up to Foraging. I though that I'll go further but kinda left off there (foraging it huge, so no wonder). Maybe I'll get to it at one point, but there's lot of other things in wiki I jump through so no ETA, and if anyone want to finish it off be my gusest ๐
For skills I generally got the "Mechanics" secion, e.g. for agriculture, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Agriculture#Mechanics
Also, now that I mentioned that, I think a boilerplate could be useful, as these sections are not mentioned in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide#Article_sections
btw before I do any more... does this look good or am I wasting my time 'stiching' together the menu to display the whole thing? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Debug-SearchMode.png
I'd crop the scrollbar, other that, I think it's fine? I assume the values are default ones? Would aid reader more
I am generally fan of including them in text too, as they can be read by screen readers, though with today's techniology I think they'd just OCR that anyway ๐
okay I can easily update them and fix the right side with the scroll bar, primary thing that caught my eye was while doing these was multiple buttons on the left side. But fixing and/or removing the scroll bar will be simple enough
Working on running the bot for 42.18 should go overnight
Been a little while since ive done this
oh that reminds me I need to re-run the java extraction script again for modding
Was wondering whether you'd update now or wait for point release ๐
(which I guess we'll get, judging from the controller bug, though maybe I'm mistaken lol)
I actually had some trouble, so won't be overnight but should be tomorrow morning. Nothing with the parser just an issue on my end
okay this one was a beast but... https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Debug-ClimateControl-ClimateColors.png I did not link it into the page yet cuz how 'huge' it is but is this going overboard on size now? Is showing off the complete menu really worth the time? I dont mind working on this stuff but I just dont want to be doing it for no reason.
Hard to sayโฆ Well, it'd make a good image to scroll on mobile ๐ But at one point they stop serving purpose if people won't bother looking at them. But since it's there, I'd say you can link it
okies as I said I dont mind editing them and stiching them together just like that one is insanely long 5200 pixels tall.. lol
i cant see it on my computer screen.
cant see it?
thats zoomed in
did you click on it a 2nd time?
Never mind ... is all good ... I followed the link to the wiki page. It looks really good and clear .... I was clicking on the picture you posted and it made it look blurry.
๐
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Debug_mode well I cleaned it up just a bit, got more of the sections to line up with one another. still havent figured out the folding of sections. But did get a few of them updated and looking half decent.
also question... does this apply here also regarding image thumbnails. Came across this while looking for formatting info.
If a page specifies a thumbnail size that's not among the common thumbnail sizes (20px, 40px, 60px, 120px, 250px, 330px, 500px, 960px, 1280px, 1920px, 3840px), then MediaWiki will pick the closest larger thumbnail size but will tell the browser to downscale it to the requested size.
Rather not have to do any scaling after the fact if I should just be chosing a 'standard' size in the first place.
Pushed back another day, my nas which I host the bot on has been playing up + I keep getting distracted
you need to stop letting your fishing distract you :P
Just went thru a bunch of folding on the 'debug mode' page. made it way more navigable and improved the sectioning of the whole page.
@proud cobalt might be interesting to link this:
https://pz-wiki-modding.github.io/PZ-API-Docs/java/item_tags.html
To this:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Item_tag
I directly parse the Java for all available tags in the game
Link as in Url, or link as in have the bit scan them and use the description?
One or the other, my thought was to check which tags are used by the game, or not used etc
Yeah that's a good idea too. I'd be down for both haha
It's available so if you ever want to use it, feel free to do so
Interesting facts about watches.
If there's a crowd following you, you can set your alarm for +10 minutes and throw away your watch.
After this, part of the crowd will remain to watch the clock ring.
Especially if you get out of sight. They'll forget they heard anything and start looking on watches.
If this information is not yet on the pages for the watches, feel free to add it. Otherwise please keep discussions in this channel on-topic regarding wiki content.
Creating an account is free and requires no email or other PID, although an email is optional (and recommended, as that is the only way to recover your password should you become locked out)
Woah, does the โinfobox traitโ template now recognize negative and positive in Spanish respectively? Was adding more stuff to the traits and just noticed it, looks good
Looks like @gloomy glen did. Nice work figuring out my hacky solution ๐
I just read the template ๐ญ I was ready to message you or calvy thinking I was about to fuck something up lol
how possible would it be for the wiki to get a spreadsheet on when certain weapons appear impaled in zombies?
I can't find it anywhere in the media and I'm not a code diver
It's listed on each item's page in the loot section under "Attached weapons". This includes both impaled and attached in a slot https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Machete#Zombies
okay but why does it seem like only the machete has that
what pages is it missing from? i checked every weapon i could think of that spawns like that and they all had it
Getting some more progress with the negatives for /ES
(btw thanks maca for the minor fixes)
Finally back in the saddle again. Im so ready to get these locations done and over with
until they update them all again
Very happy to see our non-english community expanding the content. Fantastic work! and its one of the languages I can somewhat understand?! What?
Not me trying to update everything on the main page to spanish keeping an eye on your work
I finished updating the fuel/es page and for some reason now I feel more pressured to update the other things I've been avoiding bc they were too long
If it makes you feel any better, once locations are done they're probably gonna be unchanged for a while
I'm genuinely not sure what I'll do once this is finally finished tbh. Probably items
It does makes me feel better!
Not only, for Katana for example https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Katana#Zombies
I had plans to update skills and traits further, on the other hand ๐ธ

I still have other things to update so I guess I'll wait (?) want me to keep helping with updating the format of the skill pages?
headers mostly, but some cleanups/rearrangementsz mentioned that in gere in a pastz finished on foraging
Well, I finally created an account. I have no idea what Iโm doing, though. Like, none. Where do we even get game information?
game information? Probably from the actually playing the game ๐ (or looking through the files)
a lot of things on wiki is mainteneance stuff too, like correcting mistakes, rewording things os they sound nicer or adding missing images (models mostly nowadays)
So if I wanted to add missing recipes to crafting tables, would I be looking up each missing recipe in the wiki, then inputting that name in the table, or is there a more efficient way?
e.g., the Blacksmithing crafting section has exactly one recipe thatโs associated with the Advanced Forge. The rest are (I think) only on the item pages.
that stuff should all be botted, if there's an issue with that i'd bring it up with calvy
Recipes are generally shown in the respective item pages, though tiles need much love as a part of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Seat_Yourself_Furniture
Skill pages need some revamps too
Skill pages are what Iโm asking about.
Iโve mentioned it before but was advised to create an account and contribute. But thatโs not possible with the skill crafting tables?
Turned out the unclosed span was a template issue ๐ it's fixed now https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template%3AWiki_task&diff=1366169&oldid=431301
I think blacksmithing should be parsed indeed
If there's anything missing then indeed @proud cobalt or @digital helm should take a look I guess? The recipes should be parsed by https://github.com/Vaileasys/pz-wiki_parser iirc
I'm slowly going back to skills now, this is what I'll be using as a baseline. Might move it to boilerplate (and maybe actually even tackle improving boilerplates; will be right about time now!)
I think I'll be focusing on them now. Not sure when exactly I'll find the time to do so, but I might want to get them consistent finally.
By the way, @proud cobalt I think it was you who added the images to them, and while they definitely add to reader's attention (and discord miniatures), not sure if that's something we want to universally have, as they might be confused with the traits and items?
Maybe instead some screenshots/modeled images could be used? Or maybe even stuff like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Welderspiffo.png ๐
Could you give me an example of some recipes that should be on a skill page that aren't? The in game categories can be pretty weird. I believe the rules for a recipe to be included by the bot for skill pages are:
- Category name
- Skill required
- XP gained
This isn't fool proof admittedly but the recipes were (are) changing so fast and the skill pages had been left behind
We parse a lot of the information directly through the games files. A lot of it is done with automation now but previously (and still for many aspects of the game) it was a lot of code diving and in game testing
Sounds good. I got half way through the skills, moodles, traits, and they all changed again ๐ญ
I added that one to welding I believe as part of SCC because all the rest had some kind of relevant image, and it was before the Infobox iirc. I'm not attached to it either way
Sure. Neither Blacksmithing nor Welding have any weapons in their crafting tables. Blacksmithing has more (but not all) recipes in the skill pageโs table than the Blacksmithing (Crafting) pageโs table.
Thanks, I'll look into that in the next few days and let you know what I find
Oh shit, I was updating the points or smth and absolutely forgot about finishing it
attention span of a goldfish
"I'll try to help Faal with the format while I'm on it" and forgot about it all lol
Some people really don't give a fucking shit
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Uploading_mods&curid=149031&diff=1366211&oldid=1346257
Did he just make an account to post his mod? ๐ญ The gall of some people
@paper wolf wait that's fucking you
Can you explain yourself a bit here ?
I didn't even bother checking what the mod was
When should you update the Page Version banner?
When the information in the page was updated to the version you indicate in it
usually
but like, if there were some things that were not updated, but the majority of it was, should you update it?
I think so ? But it's one of these cases where huge pages can be weird
Hmm
Better wait for someone who has more experience regarding that than me as I don't often end up in this kind of scenario for my edits
Yeah, I had this a couple times and just changed it. Going off of Wikipedia's "Be Bold" thing.
Yea it's the same mentality here
Don't hesitate to do changes
Yeah
You can update it every time you make an edit that isn't just grammatical/formatting. It's to indicate that information is updated up to that version rather than everything is updated
Yeah that's the difficulty of wiki. It's not feasible to check the contents of every article every patch, but if there's something outdated is it misleading to update
I agree with you about the use of it though.
To me it's more misleading to see that it's for an older version but has info only applicable to a newer version. But neither situations are ideal
I agree
Was trying to update the page on laser sights with the more weapons it supports. However, while doing so, I realized the infobox has these multiple parameters, but doesn't allow more than five. I tried just consolidating them all into one of the parameters but it just formatted somewhat weirdly.
@digital helm @languid kayak Thoughts on adding Newspaper to the Media section of the navbox?
Like radio stations and tvs in Electronic media section
Readable Newspapers are currently in the Media category, but not navbox
yall forgot to specify it was in users btw and not in the steam game file
That's not in user
@naive imp Hows the idea of splitting The Kentucky Herald single page into The Kentucky Herald(Newspaper) and The Kentucky Herald(Office)
Yeah I think that makes sense. Just have The Kentucky Herald (Item) and then The Kentucky Herald for the location page
it is wdym
i hood up uploaded the mod by putting it in the zomboid file in users
Thought you were talking about the wiki page
That info was not forgotten, it's literally in another page linked in that paragraph
The Mod structure wiki page, the link to the "Workshop folder". It's not forgotten we are not going to repeat info at every squares of the wiki
It's properly link and you didn't read the full doc
Item is kinda weird
Since it is a media
I guess but it is an item though. We have Map (item) and just map (the world map)
I think there's others too? Can't remember
Eh I dont think its a huge deal, just a consistency thing ino
*imo
I would have agreed if the pages were about newspapers as an item, like stats and whatnot, but they are more like a exempt text from newspapers
Yeah tbh idrc just pointing out
The Kentucky Herald (Newspaper) would be better for clarity than The Kentucky Herald (Item)
Yeah probably
We can always change it later too if it's that big of a deal for some reason
The main deal is that the building page was outright deleted and replaced with newspaper
and i want to put it up in some form
And i think it is the only newspaper like that
you can, but ideally you should mark pages or sections as either Outdated, Unverified or Improve and explaining things at glance.
Like or .
You can use Verify if just one sentence is unused too
more about the mbox template is here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Mbox and documentation should be on heach pages, and about verify here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Verify
I usually pick them up when patrolling, so no big deal, but best to mark things as outdated, else we'll get confusion ๐ I am unfortunately huity of such few edits in the past (mostly skills and traits) when I updated page without checking; hopefully I'll get to that though (my next big focus is skills)
Now that I think of it, maybe we should make a basic guidelines somewhere in the editing guide? I had plans to update it anyway
Seems it's commonly asked and confused upon (me included)
Problem wasn't in you just repeating same info but in writing style
You're writing in a public documentation/wiki, not your own personal blog
While rules are less strict than in Wikipedia you still should follow them in the main pages
Yeah, I have the same issue, and we had people believing the content is based on the old version, while it was partially updated to the new one.
Basically, what we'd want editors to do (but can't expect, so here's my or whoever's patrolling edits) job:
- Update the page version to whatever version the meaningful edit was done (non-typo/formatting)
- Update the oldid (if not present and applicable for the page)
- Add appropriate https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Mboxes or https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Verify with
section=trueif needed.
I'll pin that for now, but unless someone has anything to further improve, I think it'll go to some wiki documentation we can point users to.
I'd say go on, but IIRC @digital helm is revamping the navboxes to be a part of the Lua project (mostly Vail's works, so can't help on that, unless maybe Calvy), so we can finally update the items one to list B42 items after so many were added (at least that's how I understand it, correct me if I'm wrong :D)
IIRC we had this discussion before?
(newspaper) since it's not a proper noun, but other than that yeah, makes sense
any info lost though? If needed I can dig up some removed oldids since they are kept for admins only (we don't purge the removed oldids from server, but they aren't accessible for non-admins)
I dont think so?
cant check right now
Yeah im having some dejavu but better ask again than assume
I wasn't imagining
cool
Wait we already did it
but other way around

What
Items tend to be prioritised, so this would be the way to do it. I'd expect people would be looking for the item over the location
No problem adding it. As Faal said they're getting a revamp, but who knows how long that'll take
New canon
Bot bumping the stable version pages to 41.78.19 now. ETA 3 hours
<@&1205656323904118885> And others (pings being weird).
Thoughts on adding duplicate link removal to the page formatter? This means only the first instance of a linked item will actually be a link, and any time that same link is added later in the article it will just be the displayed word(s).
This is generally the standard on most wikis but I can't seem to find it in our style guide.
e.g. if an article contains vehicles at the start and vehicle later on in the body. The latter would be automatically changed to vehicle respecting any casing or displayed text while removing the link.
LMK your thoughts on this issue as a whole and if I should go ahead with adding it to the bot
Personally, I'm not a fan of this. I don't see why its an issue for there to be multiple of the same links on a page. I never understood it.
But maybe there's something I'm not aware of
I can get why, i think it's mostly about excess hyperlinks particularly on larger sites like Wikipedia where every second word could be a link. It just seems to be the standard way to do it. The same way you wouldn't link every instance of the articles name in it's own article
But that's why i wanted feedback because i'm not sure if we need the same
I personally dont think we do, at least not for most pages. Maybe on larger pages? But we have very few extremely long pages that arent just big lists of shit
Was reading USR transcription and found this
Pitch to make this canon name along with NotDean Doe
My biggest issue is things like tables where you'd want to link it, but may link it early on too.
I agree with its use in general, but for us I feel like we rely fairly heavily on using consistent sections, so may be a little different(?) as you may want to repeat links to help the reader
I think that's supported by Wiki It (assuming it works correctly for the newspapers? I'd have to check)
I tend to keep that for one/paragraph anyway, but indeed, we don't have it in the style guide.
Speaking of a formatter by the way, would it be possible to check if the link goes to a page redirect and replace that to an actual page? That's some thing I often do by hand and it's pretty mundane and relatively time-consuming. Benefits are mostly for the editors learning the proprer page names for linking (and when copying parts), but for the end user it avoids potentially misleading name in the link being shared (especially if we decide to change the target somewhere down the line, which is sometimes the case, the old redirect would be extra misleading then).
Finally, not sure if that's something a bot can do, but I genenerally link to vehicles and even item names when possible, as in the suffix after brackets; it's what Wikipedia recommends, but I don't think we have explicitly in the style guide either?
I was working on the formatter at the moment so i will look to see if that's possible. I can definitely check the contents of the page it links to, and check if that's a redirect based on that, but i don't believe i have access to an api check if an article is a redirect or not. Will see if that's reasonable to run on every link of not
For the last point, it's not as simple as it seems without being risky. But i will look at it too
Yeah that's a fair point, it could exclude tables and templates
That's a valid approach, especially as we're doing things different as Wikipedia like linking category item next to each other.
I guess the main issue for them is how many pages Wikipedia has, things like Wikipedia is a MediaWiki software. Wikipedia is the largest encyclopedias or things like that would result in a ton of links near each other, making it hard to read (especially on mobile) without being distracted by links
I see you had similar approach ๐
we have API enabled, it's just you're not sure the API allows that?
i do see the merit in the arguments for it, but what i have to wonder is is this actually a problem for us? has anyone actually complained about too many hyperlinks or reported readability issues that could be linked to that?
I have to look into it more
i can imagine how hyperlinks could get out of hand but that's just a theoretical problem, and it's not like we couldn't just do it later if it does prove to be an issue
Nah i don't think so specifically
"Startpage.com - The world's most private search engine"
No dear god fucking no
Imo for the modding wiki this is going to be horrible bcs a page is never just a single element, it's a lot of time a bunch of info in their own section and everyone goes to the link they want
If you do that I basically need to split one paragraph sections to their own page bcs I need people to see those duplicate links to redirect them to other resources
When there's repetition it's the writer's job to not link multiple times, that's notably something I look out for when I write bcs if I already mentioned a page like a paragraph before I'm not going to link it again
Alright sounds good, we will keep it as it is
Hi guys. Imma translate articles to russian when I have time
Cool, there are always some folks translating, not sure they hang in Discord, if you have any technical question, make sure to ask ๐ @gloomy glen is the project leader for translations (not Russian, she translated to Spanish, but is a leader of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Translations coordinating things)
Also, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations should answer some questions
Thx, not like translation is a hard thing since I know russian very well and material is already presented, it just will take some time
Yeah, it's not about translations per se, but the technical side of things ๐ They are often various quirks one may not be aware of, especially when coming from other wikis ๐
Templates translations is one of such things, but there are other things like pages names, page versions or page titles, and things were changing over time too
I translated infobox region to russian
was hard but I figured
The templates have translation guide on them to follow, though there were some changes by @digital helm too, not sure if for that template too?
Yeah I followed the guide
Now I can translate town articles
Crazy to think that russian version of Muldraugh was there for years yet only now it has russian infobox
a lot of pages are like that. We purged some really old ones, but we kept some that at least had some translations
I accidentally created new article while translating Echo Creek and dk how to delete it, help if you can https://pzwiki.net/wiki/ะญั ะพ-ะัะธะบ
Deleted
thx
if you want anything else deleted in the future then mark it with delete
ok
@thin cloud Took only 5 years but you are officially a TIS worker on the wiki now with your own page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Patrick_Brennan
Feel free to add/edit/remove anything since it is technically your page
Slowly but surely we are getting to adding everyone to the wiki
Also added it to navbar
Lol
Thanks for linking to my game, I'd have kept making things like that of TIS hadn't gotten their claws into me
Damn corporates crushing ambitions of independent authors ๐
Wait you have your own website
I will link to that on website section in the infobox and i think im done for today
It's a good day to be @languid kayak
All in progress or complete
No changes to infoboxes on the translation side yet. Templates are still good to translate, I'll transfer everything over to the new format when I do change things over
@obsidian atlas https://pzwiki.net/wiki/AmazingSully Sully is also now a part of the Tis team
ok ok, i might be out of the loop, cuz who is sully and why does he have a wiki page
Well you can read the page now to find out ๐
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Spiffo#Survival_guide @languid kayak @digital helm Survival guide now has new spiffos in b42
But the current page has b41 spiffo's
so FYI I will rearrange the page to update it to b42, mentioning it just in case since page doesnt have an oldid
so it will be innacurate for b41
@digital helm Not sure if this unnatural white glow is intended on the Vector dark mode?
It appears when you successfully embed a link and only noticable in dark mode
Didnt know Pat Bren had an antiversion
Vail pointed out that the fishing one was given to the original spiffo plushie; I only have the 2.0 one
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cold_War_bunker Page created
@rotund echo But is it hit vids?
Ive seen it before but I did not include it on the page since there is no logo, no theming or anything
You have included it in Hit Vids page but honestly I wouldnt, even though if it is the only movie rental chain in entire Knox County right now
Thanks! I merged the first and the last, since it's all about the upload descriptions and we have a standard for that, hope it's better that way! https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=PZwiki%3ATasks&diff=1415063&oldid=1385019
I came to the conclusion it is one since its got the same wallpaper and aesthetic as the clearly labeled Hit Vids
But in all honesty I just wanted to have one less nameless store in that skyscraper
Tbh i also hate seeing nameless stores
But it is the sad reality of nameless stores we live in
I will pass it to @naive imp for review and conclusion
Made it the basic boilerplate https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Boilerplate_skill
Not sure I'm up to remaking other boilerplates, this one is a bit rough too but better to have it on the wiki ๐
@thin cloud So there is currently a huge bug where after one broadcast ends, like with Jackie Jay, other broadcast on the same radio does not play(Jonas in this case)
But in any case, what would be canonical date that Jonas starts his broadcast?
In game it just says "Day 0" so current page reflects that but putting some confirmed dates would be nice
and since we cant get that info in game im asking you directly
"IGUI_perks_Fitness_Description": "Increases melee attack speed, and speed and success chance of climbing. Decreases exhaustion rate.",
"and speed"? IIRC fitness has nothing with player sprinting/running/walking speed except tiring them less. I think it lowers tiredness (fatigue) too
that may be intended as 'speed [of climbing] and success chance of climbing'
oh that would make more sense. If what we have on wiki it also lowers fall damage
@proud cobalt seems that CalvyBot messed instances with ** and deeper indications
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Build_42.17.0&diff=1386485&oldid=1365121
Don't know!
Think we removed Jonas as you can find Jackie's zombie, breaking his lore
Oh so Jonas is removed from the game?
Unsure, but he definitely breaks lore
(I mean you can find two jackies but thats beside the point)
Honestly whole thing started because someone asked about lore of Jonas
So Im not sure what to write back to them
And what to write on the wiki itself now
Is there a brochure or flyer that advertises the location? If not then I would say not to include it personally.
Nameless stores are annoying though and the general pages are meant to be a solution for that, just takes time
Ill be editing later tonight and today to finish up Riverside and then I can have a proper look at it.
I haven't heard his broadcasts in a while too but I may have just missed them
So far I Updated these skill page to the new format, thanks goes to @gloomy glen for headstarting some of them ๐ I will most likely do one mroe pass in the end to unify the spelling on them to be more consistent, but if you spot anything wrong/to improve, let me know, so I can keep that for future ones too.
Also did some updates to the navbox itself and redirected the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Firefighter and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fishing_Guide as they were renamed in 42.16.0 (no changes to actual pages yet).
Taking a break, not sure if I'll touch the Crafting/Farming/Survivalist today, but some had initial improvements and at least all should be updated to B42 at least briefly.
Occupations and traits will need updates too, these will be next I guess.
Updated these too
I think this is easy to correct by finding * * and replacing them with ** ?
Should be fixed now
Fixed.
I specifically handled this case and tested it. Will look to fix shortly
Does this count as cheating?
If that's what he actually said, then probably no
Just link the post in References or smth
Reference for sure, but I definitely miss how it refers to Pat Bren ๐
some deep lore
I dont question it
@languid kayak I added template data to this template as a first test. It'll re-use the data to display the parameters in the doc for you, which is nice https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Localized_link
I am revamping tracking page, was a mess really ๐
While I got impression that tracking is unfinished (it seems so), do we have factual confrimation for this bit?
As of version 42.7.0, the Tracking skill is not finished and may be changed in future updates.
Also, it's still just deers and rabbits giving the XP now? Or do Raccoons count as well?
Updated tracking and trapping, now just the Crafting skill and a final pass for me to skills before I can move to occupations and traits ๐ (unless someone distracts me).
The skills needed updates though, they still do in the "Mechanics" section, maybe I will be able to eventually reduce some Verify and Bugs and maybe some Improve or Outdated eventually, but that requires reading and rewording it all and checking it in-game or in the game code
Any update on that btw? as I'm going through crafting skills now, I'll eventually be adding the recipe magazine to the pages, so it would be nice to establish a skill assigned to each of them ๐ The page needs bump to 42.18.0 anyway
Also, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Literature#Schematics lacks the assigned skills as well
@proud cobalt seems something's wrong here? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Masonry#Crafting
Recipe 'crushlimestone' not found.
Recipe 'crushore' not found.
Seems we have a lot more of those thoughhttps://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_with_incorrect_crafting_usage
Also @proud cobalt when you have time, can you run the script to generate https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list to see if the two remaining items get removed from that? Namely Base.RagFilter which got its page made afterwards and I also added Base.TestHotDrink to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Beverage_(mug) so I guess it should solve that?
It would pretty much cross out the 3rd task at https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#Editor_tasks
All skills are updated to the new format (with Pat_Bren's quotes!), but I need to go to sleep, so they are not ideal and will likely require a second sweep
.
I still need to go through https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Literature#Recipes as not all are added, and to be 100% sure all the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Life_and_Living_TV and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/VHS bonuses are listed.
The occupation/trait lists don't all list recipes granted, too. Same with recipe magazines, not sure whether we want to list them or just point a user to the actual page; I'll take a look tomorrow or so (wiki timeโข).
Then, aside from the consistency check, the main question is what to do with the guide-like sections? I generally tried to incorporate them into the established sections, but maybe the == Skill guide == sections are wanted after all? As in walkthroughs to how to level effectively? Doesn't sound much wiki-like, but a lot of pages had it, so after all maybe it's what users want?
Feel free to comment and point things out though, I'll probably want to take a second look myself, including boilerplate. Not sure if we can automate some things for the future too?
I kinda like the idea of a skill guide subsection in the lvling part (?) the one guide i recall was pretty useful (i think it was blackmithing, idk)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Small_Backpack encumbrance in infobox is broken? @proud cobalt
there's still a week left, I'm sure I can find useful stuff to translate and reach that 900
it'd be so easy to translate random short articles but what's the point of doing that lol
i translated the military backpack but since it was already there (autogen) it doesn't count as new page ๐ญ
I generally tried moving them to leveling part out of the other sections (previously I moved some to == Skill guide == , as I also find them useful, though they often are written in a guide-like, non-encyclopedic way and often are suggestions of the author on what's the "best" way (which often change or there are other, more suiting ways for the reader).
So yeah, in one hand I don't want to delete them, on the other hand, I have no idea how to uniformly keep them without cluttering too much ๐
for the summary that is :P?
Yeah lol
I should be updating stuff buuuuut
900 is right there
Just another 4. I'm sure I can finish another 4
Just remembered I had half finished translations for the shotguns so yeah, definitely 900
hello guys, I wonder if anyone can send me version 0.1.2a please
Check your Dms
I'm wondering whether this should be used somewhere? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Steamdownload.png It seems handy, but unused, the user just did one contribution beside that upload https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:Contributions/ๅฐๅตๆญๆฅ
Updated https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#Editor_tasks to reflect the current state of things we have.
The two biggest non-project editor tasks remaining are
- items which I think at this point could be made a part of either the B42 project or https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance and navboxes are done as a part of Lua project
- images, which are mostly done thanks to awesome recent Calvy's bot, the remaining ones are mostly ongoing works tracked by either projects or site mainteneance as well
It could be useful, if a little lower res than might be wanted?
I can't recall any pages where it might fit though
Well, it was clearly done in purpose but left unused, that's why I decided not to remove it ๐ I can put it on Steam or somewhere else though,
btw @digital helm (or @proud cobalt), something I've been thinking but never actually mentioned anywhere would be the way to keep track pages that has usages to be filled by user in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance (similar how we track other pages)
Now that I think of, I think the simplest way would be to add a category to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Edit_link ? While potentially counter-intutive if the template would be used for something else, it might be easier for user to remove (I don't expect users knowing that they have to remove the category) and doesn't require botting all the pages, unless there's somethin I miss.
The only pages that won't be kept are tags like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Aerosol_(tag)#Usage since they don't use the template, but they are probably due to be recreated anyway, as there are a few new tags in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Item_tag
Yeah I'd say add a category to the template. Even better, add a switch based on namespace to separate articles and images
Ha, that's actually clever. I'll do that later, unless one of you want to do that first ๐
Especially as my template skills got dull, it's mostly Vail doing the work there ๐
I'm at work so you'll probably beat me to it
(so might tkae a while)
also at work, though it's relatively chill today so can finally spend some time on wiki ๐
I didn't touch the logic so far, but through I'll save the documentation first; I wonder if the names are fine?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Edit_link
Pages with sections to fill
Files with sections to fill
Name is not that important, but nice to keep it aligned with other ones in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance
And I assume that Edit link is only put in the empty sections ๐
Do we need that to actually detect a namespace? I tried to see if we have some existing templates, but can't find any
nvm, it's NAMESPACE
Check out the switch case in this
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Page_ns&action=edit
It uses name space number keyword
got it working with NAMESPACE in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Faalagorn/sandbox apparently NAMESPACENUMBER can be better if wiki is localized? Not sure if it matters for us?
Shouldn't make much of a difference, it's just less characters
I actually am wondering whether we should just name the template differently and put the whole "Help PZwiki by adding to this section. " into it as well ๐ I've seen people leaving that text untouched and adding the rest.
Still it requires people to remove the template itself (I have to check how that works with the visual editor)
Maybe I won't be overthink it though, we can always change the name I guess
That would be about 20,000 changes BTW
We have that many? There's only 276 in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Autogenerated_articles_(B42)
Almost every single file
oh, true ๐
Well, it will be gone eventually. I originally didn't even think of including == Summary == at start, but your way is probably better having it as a stub to encourage users to filling it. For images it will be quite bland, as it's rarely seen at, but putting the location of where the original file was from (game asset or online asset) would be nice, and it was something I started doing at one point for thursdoids (but not for all)
I updated https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Edit_link but the pages seem to only populate the categories when the actual page was updated btw? Unless I messed something up. I also would have to exclude the page itself putting it in the category ๐ I don't want to exclude whole template area in case we'd have templates (documentations) that require user input
900! @cobalt bronze let's go!!
yeah, seems the counter goes up only for the newly edited pages, not sure if we can force that other than actually editing 20k+ pages as Calvy said ๐
but if we do then maybe we can indeed include the edit text for that and maybe rename the template to something else. Not anything urgent though, probably best for @digital helm to take a look at the template anyway, especially as it still needs to exclude self in the category, and the documentation moved to the templatedata
Upon closer look, I only realized it's a lower resolution duplicate of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Right_click_PZ_-_instructions.png lol. Probably uploaded by mistake and that's the reason it's not used
@thin cloud Not sure where to report it.. but the worldmap has another "huge" issue
Apart from still having a ghost gas station in the middle of nowhere
The Knox bank advertisement doesnt have an "8" in the corner
Every advert from 1-7 has a circle with number in it
But knox one doesnt
The numbers should relate to a legend somewhere, I don't have the map on me atm. Is Knox bank listed there?
Woo!!
Hey, would anybody be able to help me out a bit? I am a new contributor to Project Lore, though I know almost nothing about code. I am able to access the code and pull it up, I can identify many things that help me fill in these new pages (Thanks to the project leader lol). Mid is busy with some stuff during certain times of the day, so I was hoping someone will help me find some stuff in the code.
If so, I would like to learn how to navigate the areas I am having trouble with.
Is there anything in particular you are having trouble with. Happy to try help you. Otherwise @serene sage is usually around to help with project specific questions
He actually already answered most of my questions. I mainly asked here because I have already asked him a TON and I know he is pretty busy so I felt pretty bad for the bombardment of questions
I think it's in general best to ask here for specific questions so more people can see them, unless it's something oddly specific/private/offtopic, as we all hand around here ๐
fyi you can also ask me if you want to keep it personal
yeah, sharp's a good point of asking things about lore too ๐
Hey locations people, what's the difference between the classification and type params in the Infobox. There's no documentation for classification.
Gonna ping @naive imp and @lucid junco (your name messed with me for a second there). Do either of you have any particular attachment to type / classifications or preferred standards for them. Looking at scraping them for the online map
oh i had 0 idea
i checked and classification is like, Hospitality, Medical, Community Service
The things you see on the businesses page in town sections/on the map
But tbh It is redundant in my opinion since type is that, but more specified
If you want to use for online map then ig the map classification is better
I don't mind both, a general classification categiry is good for high level searching, and more detailed type for well... More detailed searching and grouping. I was just potentially going to go through them and group things together
That's a good idea too
We use that currently only for businesses
businesses section that is
and also excluding Residential since they dont fit in into businesses section
or something
residential is complicated
Yeah residential will probably all be one category so that's fine
Yeah pretty much what @lucid junco said. The only thing with type is that I'm still figuring out how I wanna group types together, but I think having classification be the primary search and then type an advanced search is the best move
The thing is not all pages have their type updated to how I want it yet
There's also businesses and metapages, but not sure they'll be helping much? Like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bar or https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Wrecking_yard
Yeah im working on those
It'll be a bit
Ok I just had an amazing fucking idea
I'm going to recolor the wiki logo to the classic modding blue to make it a modding wiki logo
Actual fucking genius

Are vehicle spawn codes on the wiki yet? Last I checked a couple weeks ago they werenโt. If not they should be
@novel oar nothing about vehicles has changed much. I have no idea where to even find vehicle spawn information. If you do, adding them to the wiki would be a big help
Oh that's what you meant. That's really helpful thanks! I should be starting to add them over the next few days
Was d/ced on Discord, but it's nice to see the dedicated channel for loose talks now ๐
All the vehicles currently in the game have been added, along with each of their variants. All the pages are still basically empty so feel free to add anything you know ๐
There is some helpful info in the infobox though, including vehicle spawn IDs, which are called "class name" on the infobox.
Here are all the vehicles: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Vehicles
Awesome ;D
Nice
Does a cooked bowl of beans give -10 unhappiness, or does it just stop the 10 unhappiness that comes from uncooked beans?
it just removes the negative effects @obtuse field
so +0 unhappiness cooked, +10 unhappiness uncooked
The items for vehicles, metalworking and electrical have been added to the wiki, each with their own page. Some of the electrical items are still missing/outdated, like the walkie talkies, TVs and traps, but all the components are there now. ๐
Vehicles/Mechanics: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Items#Mechanics
Metalworking: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Items#Metalworking
Electrical: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Items#Electrical
Soup (both canned and custom) can be divided into 2 or 4 bowls, right?
right
A pot of soup made from canned soup removes 20 unhappiness and 10 boredom. However, according to the page for bowl of soup, each bowl of soup also removes the same amount of each. Is this correct?
From the "bowl of soup" page:
Also, do bowls of soup have any calories?
@obtuse field would you happen to be Simian on the wiki?
and to answer your question, both the bowl of soup and pot of soup appear to remove the same amount of unhappiness and boredom.
With the calories, I am assuming that the bowl of soup takes the calories from the pot of soup when it's split.
Since the "PotOfSoupRecipe" doesn't have any calories, I'd assume the calories, etc., would be made up from the contents added.
I hope that makes sense.....
I'll take a look and play around with it to see if that's actually correct or not
trying to think of what to write on the PZ wiki
@buoyant swift what kind of pages are you looking to edit? If you're not sure what to edit, there's a list of topics/projects here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Community_projects#Project_directory
Or if you're not sure how to start writing something, just start typing away. Don't stress too much on formatting and layout, etc. I, or anyone, can fix all that stuff at any point ๐
Adding stuff is the most important thing, aye ๐ if you donโt know the formatting language play around on your userpage, and hit edit on other pages to see how it works there ๐
^^^ exactly
I've just made some big changes to the soon to be new food infobox. I'd really appreciate any feedback on it. I'm still considering adding all the nutritional values to it (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, calories) but I don't want it to be too cramped. As well, I'm thinking of adding the moodle icon to the effects, (unhappy, bored, etc.)
So let me know.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Infobox_food#Examples
Example of the pot of soup
I think it looks good enough, and the nutritional values should be there, or at least a small button to show/hide it? I don't know if that's possible
interesting on how you made that template
the only edit I made to the vehicles is the Franklin All Terrain
Just did some minor edits on the dash rancher
Updated the infobox. Here's a new example of the pot of soup
I wish soup could cure my depression
If it works in-game, I'm sure it'd work IRL too...
@glacial trout It's possible to hide it, except I'm not sure if I can do it without editing the template it uses, which I'd like to avoid.
orders 12 pallets of soup
Got a new weapon infobox hot off the... fingers. Any feedback on this one as well as the food one would be appreciated.
Before and after of Kitchen Knife
Before and after of Pistol
More examples are here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Infobox_weapon#Examples
Nice!
Thanks ๐
btw @restive adder are you aware @timid jackal is dead? #346332179481100289
better off tagging nolan for that
@digital helm itโs @spark portal โs bot
Ah, thanks didn't know that
Looking good
its awesome
Nice
Thank you for the nice words ๐
I've got a trial for a new page layout on the baseball bat article. So any feedback on that would be appreciated.
Suggestions about anything on the page would be nice. Whether it's about the background colour, the navigation bar, overall layout, anything. ๐
Here it is before, in case there's anything you like about the old layout.

I want to link to a page about heat sources. Should I link to the "ovens" section of the page "containers", or the page "heat source" (which is less polished)?
Also, do burger flippers know food recipes such as "make bread dough", or just chefs? Or is it just anyone with the cook trait?
@obtuse field link to Heat_Source#Oven
burger flipper does know food recipes. They're given the cook trait
The container page is just very basic info about all the ovens. The heat source page is the preferred one, once it eventually gets updated.
thats not entirely true...theres 2 cook traits, one given to the professions, and the one you can select...the profession one does not provide free recipes
the chef is given the recipes seperately, the burger flipper is not given them
Does the chef have recipes that I can't get elsewhere?
no the recipes the chef gets are the same ones you can get by selecting the cook trait, i believe they're also in the magazines also but i cant remember...i dont really cook in game so rarely read them lol
okay cool, I went with a different profession in my playthrough, and I want to try cooking ^-^
So let me get this straight. The "chef" profession and the "cook" trait let you make bread dough, but the "burger flipper" profession doesn't?
yep
@mint leaf I did not know that, thanks
traits from profressions dont always give the same bonus as the selectable traits...expecially with recipes and skill bonuses
mostly because the free traits dont actually have any bonuses attached to them...any extra bonuses are given on a per profession basis
Ah I see, didn't realise there was a difference in the description in the profession says "knows cooking", whereas the trait says "knows cooking recipes"
Except it's a bit odd that the burger flipper can't pick up the cook trait as well, so they can start with those recipes
ya the selectable trait is 'cook' in the files, the one given to the chef and burger flipper is 'cook2'
they're flagged mutually exclusive so ya the burger flipper is limited by not beable to select the other one
actually kinda sad i know this given that i never actually cook anything in game....spend way too much time reading the files ๐
I like the new concept for the food pages. As for the consumables category, I agree that medical stuff should be separated, so long as there's still a big box at the bottom of each page that has all the food items.
@obtuse field the navbox will stay. So you think the consumables category should be removed entirely?
@mint leaf that makes sense, since I notice the Night Owl trait, with the security guard, didn't do anything. Do you know if the security guard actually does "require little sleep. Stays extra alert when sleeping", because I couldn't find anything in the sleep files.
give a min to scan the files
Yeah, the consumables category should just be broken down into meds, food, and literature
yep, that's what I was thinking too. I was wanting to tidy this up https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Main
That seems like it could be really cool-looking
NightOwl is unused in both the java and lua, its worthless
So the description "Requires little sleep. Stays extra alert when sleeping" is a lie?
seems so...the only references in the lua are in the inital trait setup and profession setup...its not referenced anywhere in the java at all
hmm, maybe an oversight when RJ was redoing the sleeping mechanics
thanks for the help btw
np...finding stuff like that is usually pretty quick for me
