Or the robe
Thats also the case for every outfit
They mostly have couple of things changed
Like new socks
Or boots
On that note, now its not clear which boots and colors are canon on characters
Like they can have two different boots attached to them
And such
I also saw you updated the new names for survivors @lucid junco.
I wonder if we can indeed change Mahoney to Daniel Mahoney?
It's a title of Political paperback book: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Paperback
"Smile Across The Aisle", by Daniel Mahoney
Same branch as
"My Vision for Kentucky", by Governor Cal Fairweather
@thin cloud Can we safely assume Democrat Mahoney is "Daniel Mahoney"?
@flint vapor since we have https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Java now in main Modding category, shouldn't https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Lua_(language) be moved there too?
Also, I thin we could move itn to just "Lua", since we'd have no collision and we can link to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Lua_(disambiguation) in About
Yep
Updated both now:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cal_Fairweather
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Daniel_Mahoney
Now we just need Daniel's photo, hopefully someday π
I was hoping to find https://pzwiki.net/wiki/President photo in https://pzwiki.net/w/images/b/b3/LouisvilleSunTimes_July14.png but it's just his driver visible sadly
President never gets shown
I do wonder though, looking through https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Survivors
We mostly list survivors as First name Last name as per https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide#Page_titles
Pages about in-game characters should contain their first and last names, rather than their nickname. For example, rather than Bob or Baldspot, the page would be called Bob Smith.
and
Pages about in-game characters should contain their first and last names, rather than their nickname. For example, rather than Bob or Baldspot, the page would be called Bob Smith.
The exception to this guideline is if the full name is not known, in which case only the first or last name known is required; otherwise, use the nickname.
But we have nothing about the titles/functions served, from the pages we currently have:
General John McGrewand notJohn McGrewJudge Matt Hassand notMatt HassPastor Samuelsand notSamuels(I think the page used to be called just "Samuels" beforeReverend Peter Wattsand notPeter Watts- and
Sir Twiggy(which likely will get renamed toTed Wiggintononce @lucid junco gets to it eventually, see owner in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Twiggy's
Should we rename these pages or should the rule be amended? Pinging @digital helm for thoughs, as it's the rule that I think predates even us and you've been around the most time but others are free to comment too π
I will be changing https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_survivors too to include new Voice/Picture characters (including Dr Cortman) and maybe will change some headers/categories too, just so you guys are aware.
I think if the game prefers having the nickname or title when referring to that character, we should follow that
oh yeah, and Samuels is Colin Samuels according to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Paperback_(religion)#Titles so probably willbe renamed to that
If there's any character that is more well-known or referred to as by their nickname or title in the game, just follow that
All characters have First/Last name, so assuming they'd be implemented as zombies (or NPCs in future), I'd say skipping functions is only sane
That's what you find on IDs and similar items
Being honest not mentioning General John McGrew and Judge Matt Hass just feels a bit off
There would be a clash with Lua (API) so I don't know ?
As for the Java page, we'll how to see it evolves but I'd rather not move the others, keep Lua in Lua API or move it to the Modding guides category
The Java page might get its own section when Java modding becomes more present but for now it's okay, it's a sort of modding field like the rest so keep it in the main
It might get its own language page
I think the rule could be amended to include formal ranks or recognised titles, but not honorifics like Mr, Mrs, etc.
I don't agree that we use the more well-known name, as that can be blurry. E.g., is Bob Bob Smith or Baldspot? I wouldn't say either is the more recognised one.
Best to be consistent so there's no confusion. We have redirects to go to the right page, and list the nickname in the infobox and the first part of the first sentence
Same goes for Devs.
I agree titles are generally included in full names
"General X Y"
"Judge X Y"
"Sir X Y"
"President X Y"
But not
"Mr."
"Mrs."
"Dr."
Military ranks are usually only for higher officers though unless specifically in a military context. You wouldn't put "Pvt. X Y"
But you would for a Col. Maj. Gen.
I'd include Dr. in it. It's a professional/recognised title
I think in the US it would be M.D. For a title, and Dr. In place of Mr. Mrs.
Maybe @naive imp could help with that
There's probably actual style guide written for this stuff. I'm just going off what sounds right
It's a little crazy we only have one editor from the USA π
I wouldn't want to offend mid by saying one American π
Not really, the way we should handle disambiguation is similar to Wikipedia's, as in
- The most "important" topic gets nothing in brackets and About
- The other topic gets a (paranethes) describing what is it and About
- if there's more than two topic, (disambiguation) page is created and is one of the targets in About
e.g., https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Trailer
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Trailer_(cover)
and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Trailer_(disambiguation) explaining other types of trailers that aren't called exactly like that.
At least that's how Wikipedia works and we should follow, we weren't taking good care of our disambigs though so it might be a bit messy
I think it varies between each place. They'd all have a different style guide. But it is common to reserve Dr. for medical professionals, and instead have PhD absent or after the name.
Using an in-game example, we have Dr. Cortman https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Picture_of_Dr._Cortman whereas we alternatively just have Bob https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Picture_of_Bob
I'd go whatever the outfit/survivor spawn calls him now
I mean no one outside of the US of A would refer to themselves as American anyway
about the Lua (Language) and Lua (API) discussion above - i don't really know why these pages are named this way in the first place: we might call the Lua API 'the Lua' a lot but that's a contraction, the title of the page should just be Lua API, and then there's no clashes at all
In USA M.D. goes after, and is not always included depending on what doctor you are
Ex. Dr. Billy Bob, M.D.
Different doctors have different things at the end of their professional title
E.x. veterinary technicians have DVM
Usually only USA people identify as American even though the whole continent is north America
Canadians just say they're Canadian, Mexicans just say they're mexican
We decided on American I guess
Idk
@proud cobalt I think I canβt edit the automated updater, so I have one issue with weapons with an enduranceMod.
If the weapon says enduranceMod=4 the wiki currently displays this as +3.
Though it is not +3 but it is actually x4 that means the endurance/muscle strain is quadrupled
The endurance and muscle strain in the code is literally multiplied with the enduranceMod
The thing is that Lua (API) is in fact the most important page but naming it just Lua would be wrong, especially as we settled with the name Lua API to describe the Lua Java interface
Having the Lua (language) page being the "important" page isn't a good idea as modders searching "Lua" would find the most useless page for them, that they really shouldn't start with as it explains nothing of how the Lua API works, but still go to it to learn the basics of the language
That's why I'm saying there would be a clash with Lua API
I'll see what's going on, and have a fix hopefully for the next update. There might be a deeper issue, since for example the golf club has 3 different values for it: infobox, weapon table, code.
Thanks for bringing up
The auto updater seems to subtract 1 from the endurancemod and displays that
Yeah, looks like a misunderstanding. Probably on my end
Glad I read down I was going to ping you. Happy to have a look but just woke up π
Hey, does map.projectzomboid.com have a Discord of their own? I fucked up a bit and sent duplicate POI verification requests because the browser application was acting up.
Yeah, sorry @proud cobalt π
Here is good. Quite a few of us are moderators. Calvy is probably best to help
Apparently the blak-screen ate up my Elvee Arena request entirely
No problem, i've deleted the duplicate and accepted the ones with descriptions
Maybe they could just be named as "Lua" and "Lua API" actually?
I remember the issue with previous Lua page was that it was pretty much just the guide?
a guide how to write in Lua
(it kinda still is :D)
I've fixed it ready for next rollout, which will probably be next patch, depending on when it is. Thanks again
The Lua language is the basics of Lua
But Lua API is about the PZ Lua files, loading and Java interface aspect
Not sure
You think the PZ Wikipedia page falls under our scope π€
Should McCoy Estate get its own page or no
I say yes. It's quite the location
@naive imp
Go for it
Just add to navbox locations and muldraugh locations table when its done
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/McCoy_Estate page created!!!
Would sound sane I guess? One of the header expliitly says "Lua API", also pages would be easier to find and link to I guess
i'm not sure if my message about this earlier was missed, but i'd like to reiterate that Lua (API) is a strange name for the page, as it implies that the name is 'Lua' and that 'API' is only there to disambiguate it, but it really is called the 'Lua API' -- modders often call it 'the Lua' as a contraction but that's not what it's called
it'd be like wikipedia creating a page for london bridge and naming it London (Bridge)
Sounds to me like it'd be best to do
Lua (language) -> Lua
Lua (API) -> Lua API
We can also redirect Lua api to help with searches
Alright sure
will it not be too late by then?
pretty sure you guys already figured it out
that being said yes I would already be home on the 20th 0:00, assuming UTC+5 of course
I'm on a laptop right now, I'll get Steam and see if I can get used to it
No rush
Which looks better? The original version of the navbox, or the newer one with subrows? I wanted to fix (my) not ideal categorisation without significantly increasing the height of the template.
(the navbox is currently not used by any article, or at least I don't remember inserting it anywhere)
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Navbox_Rosewood&oldid=1123393
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_Rosewood
Not sure, I think the one with subcategories? They were experimented by with it which is I think why it was added, but we never formally added them to any navbox in the end. Pinging @digital helm and @naive imp for opinion/thoughts too
I prefer the one with subcategories. Either way they will all be reworked in the future though so I guess its not a huge deal
Does Veteran actually increase the chance of suffering nightmares? o.O
I also feel like stress is a factor in the likelihood to develop a nightmare
What does the page say?
200% chance to develop a nightmare
yes and yes
It's probably that than, this isn't really the place for general questions
Rolling out a new mbox. So there might be some minor issues, which I'm working through
Mbox rollout is done. Let me know if any issues
@proud cobalt @languid kayak new Edit link template to simplify adding that edit link https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Edit_link
Is that in the stub ?
Not yet. But working on it
Not sure what can be done about it, but I just got this when trying to go from a Steam discussion to the wiki
Could you please link the discussion, i will pass onto TIS
Ty
Seems the user included () in their hyperlink
Looks like Steam automatically turned it into a link after they posted it in parenthesis and then included the parenthesis in the link, for some reason. Yeah, nothing that can be done on this end, that's up to Steam to fix...
Yea
The link's in some weird format though http://(https://
ah I see π
Can we confirm WTC bombing happened in PZ? Do we assume all thing that happened before start of the game are canonically true? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Knox_Infection&curid=10316&diff=1122441&oldid=1121061
i wouldn't assume any real event necessarily happened given how fictionalised what we do know about pz's history/current events is
we don't even have real presidents, I remember clearing trivia about BIll Clinton once
Iβm sure the founding of Spiffo would have changed world history quite a bit
Even if so, i dont like the speculation that this i the 'front-most' explanation with no source behind it
Agreed. I feel that when it comes to lore we should prioritize what's explicitly stated or theorized in game and avoid overly speculating
<@&671452400221159444>
Shemagh pages should be merged into one
Since there's three different ways to wear one, it has multiple pages of the same thing!!!
There's... eight pages for shemagh
@proud cobalt There's something wrong with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bottle_Opener βΒ it appears in recipes with small smelting items, but it lacks the property in infobox and on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/SmeltableIronSmall_(tag) βΒ it's also in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_with_incorrect_crafting_usage
We know
Right now the options are 8 pages or 0 pages
Looks like it used to. Maybe script isn't removing recipes, only adding them?
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Bottle_Opener&diff=1000609&oldid=991251
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Bottle_Opener&diff=prev&oldid=1074855
oh, that makes sense
I think there'd be no harm if the script was removing recipes though? They are all automatic nowadays anyway
Should have updated by now, but yeah definitely used to be used π€
as in it should have been automatic, or is it something you had to (and will have for future) to do manually?
It should have been updated automatically by now, i'm not sure why it hasn't been
If not done next update will have to look closer at that
@digital helm kinda ping on that one, should we keep it Medical still? It's all called "First Aid" in game
I guess so? I think I went medical originally since first aid already has so many meanings in-game. Cooking and Fishing don't really have alternate words. But if that's what we want, I won't fight it
Not sure, it's just a term that's used in-game, but OTOH you'd still have to link them like first aid item vs first aid item like in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tongue_Depressor (infobox and summary)
Slowly making my way through the remaining B41 item pages, they have some more complications than the rest, especially agriculture and firearms which i really know not much about in B42
This goes for all you editors too. What we've built is a great resource and we're all doing what we can to make it better
btw minor nit suggested by LanguageTool, is it worth correcting over? Pinging @proud cobalt as I think you were the one adding it?
Also, would be nice to have a unified wording for clutter I can copy over, as I like going through the junk items as these are the lowest effort for me to get updated properly to the new standards π (version bump, summary, usage and see also; then they only wait for a model to be uploaded and bumped when new version drops)
Example was from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Clipboard
Decorational is probably not a word π Maybe we should pioneer it's use.
In all reality I'm fine with changing it to decorative
I can bot it too
sure, go on then π
Though technically it is a word https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/decorational π
Updated in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Clipboard
I wonder if we should explicitly state that the item has (currently) no other uses? Or is it superfluous?
I think we agreed not to state it has no use and instead not include usage. Decoration usage was even on the line, but i feel items like this are specifically made for decoration so that's their use
Bot running
We could remove usage altogether, but I wonder if that wouldn't confuse readers as if it's not filled? Also, autogenerated pages start with usage and call to action to edit anyway
I think that's why it's worth keeping decoration, but not stating it doesn't have any other usage
Done
Also @proud cobalt not sure what we agreed in the end, but I think that what we generally want is to add a human-written sentence about usage above the table anyway? Like for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Calipers I'd add something like "Calipers are only used in crafting wrench." or something like that?
I really dont want to add things like that particularly during unstable, its just a magnet to be immediatly wrong after a single patch
That is true, yeah. Especially with ho often things are balanced/changed
I so far added that to tongue depressor: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tongue_Depressor#Usage β not sure if that's something we want, or do we expect people to click on the distribution instead and not mention anything. It technically has a recipe, but it's just for vanity as packing/unpacking gives no XP and box isn't getting any use anyway too
Also, I added (and verified) these causing fire on microwave, I guess this will be the format going format depending if the item has MetalValue (I assume this means the item is (almost) entirely made from metal of some kind) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Ladle#Usage or has Tags = HasMetal which I assume it is not made out of metal entirely but has significant metal parts/elements: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Stethoscope#Usage
Also example for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Calipers#Usage
Pinging @proud cobalt as usual for through (especially as it technically could be autogenerated by the script I think?)
@digital helm has looked into how that works before i cant exactly remember but it's some silly, non-logical usage of metal value and hasmetal
Re. tag usage that's something i actually expect to do manually, i think figuring out what each tag does and adding it as usage for each item in that tag list would be a good way to do it. Probably automatable too but wheres the fun in that
π
This i'm ok with, possible for it to be outdated but quickly verified and unlikely to change. I'm more hesitent to the calipers example
First Aid should be sentence case?
@languid kayak from Vail
makes sense, I just adjusted the wording to be more fitting depening on the item π
Plus it may be different in future/mods too
thanks, fixed!
@quartz bear (or anyone for the matter), can we check how long exactly the cooldown between eating lemongrasses is? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Lemongrass#First_Aid
When used in evolved recipes the HerbalTea tag does reduce food sickness, flu, stress, infectionpower,
but foodsickness reduction is capped at 12 not sure exactly what 12 means. I cant find any cooldown on it though, it may be more obscured than i can find
Here's the relevant code
Food food0 = (Food)usedItem;
Food food1 = (Food)_baseItem;
boolean boolean0 = food1.hasTag("HerbalTea") && food0.hasTag("HerbalTea");
if (food0.isSpice() && _baseItem instanceof Food) {
if (_baseItem instanceof Food && boolean0) {
food1.setReduceFoodSickness(food1.getReduceFoodSickness() + food0.getReduceFoodSickness());
food1.setPainReduction(food1.getPainReduction() + food0.getPainReduction());
food1.setFluReduction(food1.getFluReduction() + food0.getFluReduction());
food1.setStressChange(food1.getStressChange() + food0.getStressChange());
food1.setReduceInfectionPower(food1.getReduceInfectionPower() + food0.getReduceInfectionPower());
if (food0.getEnduranceChange() > 0.0F) {
food1.setEnduranceChange(food1.getEnduranceChange() + food0.getEnduranceChange());
}
if (food1.getReduceFoodSickness() > 12) {
food1.setReduceFoodSickness(12);
}
}
this.useSpice(food0, (Food)_baseItem, float1, int0, chr);
return _baseItem;
}```
This is in the item script, so i assume the cap is just so you cant use multiple in one recipe
ReduceFoodSickness = 12,
I was fiddling with rat poison in debug. Eating 1 dose of it (there are 10 in packs) gives you 100 in Food Sickness Level. Taking Lemongrass substracts 12 from it but then taking another doesn't work indeed.
Let me check other uses of setReduceFoodSickness
Also, can you still add poison to food? I can't seem to find an option. This video https://www.youtube.com/shorts/eeJaSehUzqU says the dish has to be three ingredients, but that doesn't seem to work for me?
I tried making soup and stir fry with 3 (and 4) of the same ingredients as well as 3 totally different ones, as well as cooking level 0 and 10 and I can't find an option to add posion from bleach or rat poison?
Did you know that there's a hidden poison option in Project Zomboid? If you create a meal with a minimum of 3 ingredients, the game will allow you to add a fourth secret ingredient that acts as a poison. This well hidden mechanic is just one of 30 little details you missed in Project Zomboid, check out the full video for more!
#shorts #survival...
I think it's linked to a sandbox option ?
Check if Enable poisoning is true in character sandbox settings
There is a timer in IsoGameCharacter, it's called effectiveEdibleBuffTimer
Once it activates the positive effects wont apply for a random range between 120-230 (i dont know what units) for normal, 200-280 for weak stomach, 80-150 for iron gut
this.effectiveEdibleBuffTimer = Rand.Next(80.0F, 150.0F);
} else if (this.Traits.WeakStomach.isSet()) {
this.effectiveEdibleBuffTimer = Rand.Next(200.0F, 280.0F);
} else {
this.effectiveEdibleBuffTimer = Rand.Next(120.0F, 230.0F);
}```
I would assume in game minutes
Which makes sense, 2-4 hours
Still nothing, even tried brand new save π©
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EOMjtkHvDk seems it worked only on B41?

I've never actually tried it in game
I tend to not want to poison the only person I play with π
Explicitly tried in debug π
Since then, updated https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Rat_Poison with what I know works.
If we can confirm adding poisons to food won't work, we can add that too. I don't think rat poison can be used to anything else? (like actually poisoning rats/animals?)
Not sure it works like that? https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/1hlmn92/comment/m3nt21l/
I've been wondering the best way to state this. Since it's not simply just the tag. And it's too minor to fit into an infobox. Is just having a sentence in usage the best way?
You might be able to use rat poison?
Sounds to me like they're just guessing. I'd assume not without testing
I think the reason was to link to Main template?
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Main/zh-hant&oldid=1121875
Though for now I changed it backt o tll in the end.
Should the new ceramic plate variants be added as a variant of plates or not really?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Plate_(ceramic)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Clay_Plate_(Unfired)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Glazed_Clay_Plate_(Unfired)
It seems that they'd be supposed to be created by player but it's not the case currently it seems.
Pinging @proud cobalt for that too, since I think you were the one editing two of three of them (the last one is still only autogenerated)
also, I think it should be called Plate (clay) and not the ceramic?
oh, I just realized blue orange and fancy plates were removed, so that chnages things
I wonder why they were removed though, they had no unique icons but they had unique models. Fancy one especially.
It seems to be an issue with more clay items being called ceramic items, while we do have other items explicitly called ceramic:
So these two would be up for renames as well:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bowl_(ceramic)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mug_(ceramic)
Just to make sure, we want the ===Decoration=== as subheader too, right? It was added in other pages like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Clipboard#Usage
I think it should be called "Sports" after all?
Right now we don't even have redirect for sports https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Badminton_Birdie and in infoboxes it's linked as |category=Sports so the opposite from what we want to achieve kinda? Pinging @digital helm
question about the various pages in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Crops
is "Time to grow" using a different unit of measurement than the game?
I think I'm gonna make a quick manual pass to update Growing Seasons/TimetoGrow/WaterNeeded data to what they should be in 42.11
just gonna set the "Time to Grow" values to match this* value, someone please tell me now if that's not what that column on the wiki is describing
I'll just be using 42.11.0 (unless I should use an oldid, but few of these pages have b41 vers) but the content will contradict what is actually displayed in 42.11, https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/86425-42110-rev30715-agriculture-info-in-discovered-recipes-and-media-misleads-players-to-plant-seeds-late-for-a-month/#comment-442539
annnd what do we think about me changing the formatting for "BadMonth" to use hyphens for cleaner tables? @proud cobalt @languid kayak
vs
so far I've only touched crops starting with "B", with the largest changes to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Broccoli_(crop)
gonna pause there and wait for feedback for now
Well, in the end I removed it from tongue depressor, as it has an use (it can be used as a fuel), so I wonder whether we should extend that to items with metal value / has metal tags? They technically have an use, as in can cause fires in microwave (which may as well be intentional in certain occasions)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Shears_-_Electric β should items with - be referenced in text such as "electric shears"? @digital helm @proud cobalt?
Then there are items that have both π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Small_Hacksaw I believe one value would be for smelting but it's not fully implemented?
Also @digital helm it has ConditionLowerStandard = 40 and infobox picks it as vehicle part, showing "Degradation (road)" β not sure if the "road" can be omitted?
Yes, I think they should be variants of plate
Clay implies unfired. I think we've been using ceramic as the descriptor for everything fired
They may have been combined into one item id? And use a random tint, like thread or a lot clothing
What's the category in-game? I agree sports is probably more grammatically correct. But if the category is sport, I'd stick with that
You're right to change it. These were automated placeholders. With the time grow just being the raw value.
These were updated more recently and are refined https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Gardening#Seeds
So I'd say go ahead. Maybe keep headings consistent with that seed table though?
Note there are some issues with farming, so changes are expected
I wouldn't necessarily say the ability to start a fire in a microwave is a use. It's not really a practical use. More of a cautionary effect.
Maybe include it but also say they have no practical use?
I've been wondering this too, same with parentheses. I'd say throughout the text something that fits into the sentence is best, such as electric shears, but I'm unsure about the opening sentence
Yeah the smelting tag is a tag used in recipes. The metal value and has metal are for microwaves last I checked.
I think there's something else that has metal does, but I can't remember
I'll take a look. Thanks
Plate_(ceramic) yes, unfired variants should be their own pages as they're not the same item
Yeah, i'm trying to have a subheader for usage no matter how small. How successful i've been at that is a different story
I made these very quickly when B42 first came out, i have been occupied with items since and have not even tried to look at them again. AFAIK we are expecting a significant rework/rebalance to agriculture still so wasn't a massive priority. Would love someone to do some research into crops and agriculture though if you're interested
No need for Oldid on these pages, most of them are new
Like Vail said, feel free to continue, any work to make it better is appreciated. I much prefer saying the months it's between (like your second example). We also moved to that for foraging for the same reason
Yeah like i said last night i want to go through and add tag usage to all the items, just means i have to actually do it and stop talking about it
roger that
Not in the leed. It should be 1:1 the name of the item. In this case Shears - electric are a...
Then later in the article i think it's fine
I was already thinking about holding off, since the +1 month bug should be fixed next patch, but some RiskMonths might change
I think this makes sense when we add the descriptors. E.g. instead of A placeholder(6 seater) we say A six seater placeholder But if the actual name includes the hyphen for the leed we should use the name
With how TIS operates if we waited for a patch before updating a page because we know there's a change coming we would never update the wiki π In this case though we're expecting 42.12 in the coming days as streamers are playing and we usually get early week releases
It seems they're not too interested in using this for metalworking considering the current implementation. Lack of news means we have no idea how far into implementation we are though
Happy with that. What about items that have parentheses in the actual name though?
Those should be written verbatim
I'm getting restless for the 42.12 bro
When TIS, WHEN
It's been more than 1.5 months since 42.11 dropped

I hope they're cooking with a big patch
Sully said they had multiple people on holidays this month that's why the long time between patches, not that it's a big patch
This is must be a long holiday then
Well, these are Clay in the code, while we have items that are Ceramic in code too
oh right, didn't think about it. Still not sure if it works for the fancy one?
Category is Sports
Also, while I didn't deep dive to agriculture yet, some changes to agriculture may be next patch, but I don't think these are big ones
Yeah, I'm puzzled on that one. This (metal value and propery) as well as and fire could be botted probably. Script already supports fire (but only burn time, not IsFireTinder_), but as far as actual data for old items goes, it's only what I added by hand.
At this moment I basically randomly jump between items when playing, finding things I'm not sure about and changing my mind constantly π
Would probably be better to go through a group metodically, which I may at some point too. Right now it's mostly semi-random thoughts
Then I guess I'm happy with changing it to sports. I'll make a note to update it
From when I looked at it a while ago, I don't think the item IDs were very consistent with whether it was fired/unfired. But I might be wrong
It'd be simple to generate a list of items that can't be put in the microwave if that's what you want?
Botting it might be annoying to do without mistakes
You may be right π€
Yeah that's it. It was the use of clay vs ceramic

so, currently ==Agriculture== tables for crops on their individual look like this:
https://i.imgur.com/AVkD9Xa.png
I want to standardize these headers with the one on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Gardening#Seeds
https://i.imgur.com/k55d4Nq.png
....I think I'm just gonna remove "Bad" months entirely, as the info is redundant (it's just all the months that aren't in Sow, Best, or Risk), and it's probably not immediately obvious to our users what the difference between "Bad" and "Risky" is
I don't really want to be removing any info, but readability+elegance and all that.
Thoughts?
just started going through the Project Lore tasklist and I've found some stuff that could be removed but I'm still unsure
first I think that this task can go because both articles already exist, one for the newspaper itself and the other for the in game item itself; there's no point in renaming them or merging them
this also could be let go, since the literature page already lists the flier item within it
unless of course the task means we add every variant into the article (which would be pretty messy and undesirable imo)
I'd be happy with that. There was some confusion related to this this, although on a different page #pzwiki_editing message take from it what you will
Up to you. They were added by me I think, on release. Depends if we want it to be like the VHS tapes/business and only include the title, or make it clear it's about the newspaper item. Either way seems good
I think that'd be a bad idea π having them on the flier page is good enough
Just FYI guys there's a known spammer going around using the email function to send copy pasta. The user has already been blocked but if you get an email just delete it and let us know. They do not have your personal email unless you reply to them.
They're doing this on lots of wikis
Hi guys!
I'm not a wiki editor or even a project zomboid player - but i noticed that the project zomboid wiki has a bot that automatically updates pages with info directly from the game
is there info on how this bot works or if it could be used on other wikis?
I believe it's on a git, tho I don't know the link
Probably linked around here
it was in pinned messages π
Why does this look like a club penguin image?
it does look like you need admin perms in order to add a bot to a wiki though π€
Calvy, you live in Maps Unlimited?
Awh man @proud cobalt , that Carrots page I nominated for deletion was the one that's linked to in the Navbox crops
should just need an "s" added to fix it I hope, and it looks like that was the only thing tied to "Carrot (crop)" instead of Carrots (crop)"
The bot is pywikibot which is open source and not maintained by us. We have our own scripts, but they're unique to pzwiki https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Pywikibot
We also use this pz-wiki parser to generate all the content, but it's unique to project Zomboid https://github.com/Vaileasys/pz-wiki_parser
Np
Admin perms would depend on the wiki and how it's setup. Ours you need an admin to authorise it, but most you probably don't, but I'd still recommend getting an admin to approve its use. And see if they have a bot policy
π
on the wiki i edit, there's an infobox template that thousands of pages use, and every time i edit it, the wiki is down for like 15 minutes
do you guys have this problem?
Sounds like a caching problem. From my understanding templates are fairly heavily cached for us, and slowly update over time. I'd check with your sysadmin
oof, i have no way to contact the admin directly
i will ask a moderator though π’
There's also a MediaWiki discord server which might be able to help
yeah i asked on it too
something about jobs?
it's not something i really understand
i'm just waiting for the moderator to be online lol
Yeah, sysadmin stuff π
Fixed it
Thanks
To add on from Vail, we also wrote custom software to parse the games data into wiki format we can use. Then we use pywikibot to upload that data to the wiki via our PWB scripts
that makes sense π
Yeah I had a compound that included the warehouse, maps unlimited, wallet factory, and has station. That whole fenced area
heard back from the wiki admin, they said they would forward it to someone more capable π
i think wiki admin is different than sysadmin?
By the way, the wiki i edit seems to use parserfunction string functions, and the docs on those have this big red warning on it
what does the project zomboid wiki use?
Pzwiki has them enabled too. They are inefficient though, so aren't used that often
ah alright π
Yeah, wiki admin is front-end and more manage edits and editors, sysadmin is back-end, and manages the server and database
i see
There is a general consensus that articles about unnamed locations should be consolidated into more general pages (e.g. Diner instead of Diner (Doe Valley) and Diner (Brandenburg)). Once the general page is finished, articles about the unnamed locations should be deleted.
How is it with redirects, though? Once an article for an unnamed business is removed, is a redirect created or not?
Redirect is fine if it is logical that a user would search that term and be lead to the article containing that information
I think we don't have all trascriptions yet though?
transcriptions of the papers?
if the newspapers? I think some were missing?
They are on the screenshots, though I think the text could be added? I think we can automate it? @proud cobalt @digital helm?
Would be handy for translations too when they come.
sysadmin is a generic term https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_administrator β basically someone who manages underlying files on the server/hosting π
An IT administrator, system administrator, sysadmin, or admin is a person who is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, especially multi-user computers, such as servers. The system administrator seeks to ensure that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the computers they manage meet ...
I like how they have an image to illustrate it
you can see what we use on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:Version and compare it with your wiki too π
well, the image is not always entirely relevant as it's not someone who physically has to be there always π
But basically someone who has access to the files on the server, and control panel (cpanel) or similar
It's usually case-by-case whether the redirects stay or not, mostly @naive imp's decision with the project, he's an admin so can remove pages marked for deletion (regular users can only change them to redirect)
Merci
Id say no. The names are a little too specific, nobody's gonna search for that exact syntax
And we try to avoid double redirects where possible
I guess it could, yeah. Would be easier for readers than reading from the screenshot
We've added a license template, which should be added to all files. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:License
Any files that aren't given a license will be assumed to be under TIS or CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 per the wiki's copyright policy https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Copyrights
A license can be selected when uploading a file (via the default method https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:Upload) this will automatically add the template based on the license chosen. For most uploads, the license would be The Indie Stone.
There's only a handful of licenses currently, but we can add any more that are needed.
I've also added image license categories https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Images_by_license and added unlicensed files to the site maintenance list https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance @languid kayak
I think it's accurate? You were the one editing helicopter page last time @lucid junco so letting you know too https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Automated_Emergency_Broadcast_System&curid=14365&diff=1122503&oldid=1120831
I honestly don't know the timings
Though Id change the usage wording
(arguably)
Bot running for 42.12.0
where does one find the id used for oldid in the page version mbox? trying to swap the mbox in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Broadcasts since all the B42 radios and tv stations have been added
alternatively someone can also do it for me
Go to version history, open the revision from before b42 released (December 2024) then in the URL grab the oldid
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Broadcasts&oldid=649277
I'll do it for you
it's already done
Someone else did it. Just need to update the version π
can't wait to crash into a tree with these
I already had a reputation for skull fractures

Introducing Wiki That! Your official in game companion mod for PZwiki. Simply right click any Item, Fluid item, Media (VHS, Books, CDs), Vehicle, or Trait and choose the Wiki That! option to open the associated wiki page directly in your steam overlay. Not to mention plenty of planned features in the works.
Available on the steam workshop from @flint vapor

Woah
wowza
Nice work
oh
Holy moly
Build 41 or 42?
Interesting
It would be odd to have some info from both versions
The mod is made for B42 as PZwiki was whitelisted for opening Urls in 42.12 The wiki is still in the process transitioning to B42
Alright
We need a download option π display the wiki when offline mode
I wish that was feasable
How big of a download do you think it would be
The wiki itself is mostly text, so it's not that large. With Images it's much larger. The issue is displaying the data. You'd be reading source wikitext. You can see the difference in the images
Ah so there would have to be a mod to include a wiki browser of some sort
There would have to be an entirely custom built wikitext viewing system
Crazy
TIS have shown interest in an in game wiki after 1.0
Just checked, my last archive of PZwiki without images was just under 1gb
So the text itself is almost ignorable
Is it possible to download the archive myself, to use with an offline reader for tablets?
No it's not in a readable format sorry. It's a gigantic XML file
Very fancy, solid work!

the site could probably be packaged into a ZIM file with something like zimit
then you could read them using a ZIM reader like Kiwix
if Wikipedia itself can be put in a ZIM file this way it probably is likely to work with PZwiki as well
nasKar cars!
Has the flier been updated back to reflect these btw?
What the hell, is this a new car model??? o.O
I assume this was the one, so no
Oh wow, I didn't think it would have headlights
Does it only spawn in the Irvington Speedway?
Only 1 spawn locaiton for each by the looks of it
racecar12 https://b42map.com/?959x12975
racecare34 https://b42map.com/?959x12987
racecar58 https://b42map.com/?959x12999
Only in the pits? And I assume the racecar spawns aren't guaranteed π
@thin cloud
Since the cars are in the game again, it wouldn't be disappointing to see a flyer with them
Doesn't look like it. Each will only spawn once too
When will TIS add the military truck from the chemical spill newspaper
@thin cloud I guess theae should have their decals back?
oh I see sharp did thw ping already before me π
Are there pages for the other variants? This one only lists the car keys for the 12 car but there's two other key rings too
yeah. Bot is running to update the variant links
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Race_Car_(34)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Race_Car_(58)
Sick
I shall update all the flyers in one batch in the future
I've been told that there exists a "safehouse" mechanic where players/factions can have buildings/areas with special protections as their bases. I figured that as a server co-admin i should probably know something about that. While i did find some information about this, i noticed that the pzwiki article "safehouse" talks about a completely different thing: the kinds of houses i know as "survivor house" (normal houses but with boarded up windows and high value loot). There is, however, no mention there of said game mechanic. If someone with more knowledge on these matters could do something about that, that would be awesome.
you need to enable βsafehousesβ in the server settings
then people should just be able to right click on the floor and claim the building theyβre in
Yeah thanks, but i had already figured that part out. We're not using that mechanic at present, i just put this here hoping that someone who actually knows what they're talking about might improve that part of the wiki.
I know i know it's a big ask, everyone is always busy with their own projects, but we can dream, right?
thereβs already a guide, itβs just not on the official pz wiki
βpzfans.comβ
someone can just copy + paste it over lol
Those are so cute! π ποΈ π
I've never heard of that before
feel free to just google βsafehouse claim guide pzfansβ
itll be the first result
but i agree w the other guy, smb should copy paste this over and move whatever is currently displayed on βsafehousesβ to βsurvivor housesβ
Little more complicated than that because of copyright but we can look into it
thereβs copyright on the guide they wrote for pz?
ah i guess this isnt really the chat to ask about how copyright works anyway lol
There's copyright on any works done by a person that includes steam guides etc
i thought it was more or less smthn you had to apply for generally? like how it expires after 20 or 25 years or something
seems weird for it to expire after a certain time frame rather than just allowing that person to have sole ownership if they created it
Anything someone creates is automatically copyrighted. See the Berne Convention. The copyright holder can dictate how they want their content to be used. On the wiki, we have an open license for any content not owned by TIS, and contributions to the wiki are made under that license.
does this only apply to people living within countries that are signatories to the berne convention?
ie since USA took till 1989 to sign on, anything made beforehand inside the USA wasnβt automatically copywritten?
best to ask a lawyer that
fair
PZwiki is hosted in the UK and must comply with UK copyright law (which admittedly I'm not entirely familiar with) but I believe is Authors death + 70 years
If anyone finds PZ guides from 1927, we're golden
interesting host location? i almost never see stuff hosted in the UK
i mean its nice lol, iβm from the UK so i guess maybe i get a couple ms faster loading times
May not even be physically in the UK, but TIS is a UK company so best to follow those laws for the most part
Guys, we have to change the title of the Metalworking page into "Blacksmithing" now
TIS seems to have changed all instances of that word into Blacksmithing... books, and even the skill itself in the skill panel
Wait... guys, is M16 house gun real?
make sense
i would've separate propane craft and forge recipes as much as possible to prevent confusion thought
Do you really need an explanation its just Jonathan Frakes telling you its fiction for 24 seconds.
Ah @proud cobalt, in case it's not already on your long laundry list of stuff to do: CalvyBot didn't get the memo about Drying Racks getting split into Plant Drying Racks and Leather Racks, just FYI
I noticed that scripts are not alphanumerically sorted so I modified the generator to sort them. Are these files useful for wiki?
lmk
I'm writing a writer to export scripts as Yaml. I could do this for JSON too.
@proud cobalt
This is a cruel joke

Uhh the tile parser doesn't 100% handle workstations, it's a fun quirk of... My laziness. Tiles unfortunately get left behind due to a lack of editors. My focus has to stay on items for the foreseeable future
Looks like firearms got a big flesh out this patch, might be worth actually trying to update now
@proud cobalt Hey sorry for spam. Are you interested in a digestable dataset of the recipes / other generations?
Since the game generates script data now I am funneling it through some modified code for writing that out to easily parsable files and can provide JSON and Yaml. Thought it might be beneficial to yall with maybe some Python script, much like texture packs.
We parse the recipes already but thanks
Looks like TIS had enough of people confusing forges with propane torchea
and nobody noticed for a day because it's what everyone called it anyway π
Is metalworking still Welding? So it's Welding and blacksmith?
"Metalworking" with propane torches in Build 41 is still Welding iirc
"Metalworking" with forges in Build 42 has been renamed to Blacksmithing
This is some really small detail I noticed: Stress moodlet appears slightly different based on your char's gender
Never noticed that
Left: Stress moodlet we have on pzwiki.net
Right: A hemophobic girl
I think it on a to-do list somewhere (at least I wanted to create pages about mp safehouse and factions), but then B42 happened and it went mostly down the priorities. Could still do them, especially as they are likely to be unchanged in B42, so if you want to to, feel free to create them! https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Faction or https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Factions are both free, and for safehouse, I don't know, could we rename "Safehouse" to "Survivor safehouse" @serene sage? If not, then we'll have to use descriptior in (parantheses) for one of theseβ¦
wow Faal you caught me not sleeping when Iβm probably supposed to
in-game the survivor houses filled with loot are called βsafehousesβ so Iβd use parentheses to separate the two terms
good point, forgot about it!
Although TBF metalworking was never fitting I guess? I think blacksmithing should be there from the beginning
I genuinely can't see a difference π Maybe since the latter is so low-res?
Stressed woman has like, more pronounced eyelashes
i see what you're getting at, but it's just the ears -- the right is so low res it looks like part of the eyelashes
Forgive me, its an in game SS
Maybe it's scaling giving that impression?
Maybe I'm wrong o.O
Went through https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Unlicensed_files mostly, these two @digital helm are these yours creation? Can we assume CC?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Info_icon.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Imbox_license-hover.png
For https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:SWM36.jpg we could replace it with https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:S%26W_Chief_.38_Special_62J237_R_DSC7841.jpg I guess? It's CC 4.0
Yeah, I'd replace it. Likely copyrighted
It's CC 4.0 though, can we mark it as CC 4.0 instead of 3.0?
I'll add a 4.0 variant
@languid kayak you can use CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 <!-- or CC4.0 -->
but technically it's CC BY-SA 4.0
it lacks NC
Also I think the wording on "This file is unlicensed." should be changed to unknown license, unlicensed would be https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unlicense
They're different though. Saying it's unlicensed just means no rights have been granted to it, essentially restricting its use entirely. An Unlicense is a specific license, which has its own icon and is capitalised. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/unlicensed
If you think it needs to be clearer, then go ahead, but I think the question mark and description are clear enough
If I make some art and don't give a specific license to it, then it's unlicensed, meaning no one can use it without permission. It's unlicensed, not it's under the Unlicense.
It's mostly the wording I'm not sure, in our case is that we don't know what license it is, not that it's lacking a license (and yeah, Unlicense name makes it even more confusing :P)
Yeah, why not just call it Public Domain or something
There's also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WTFPL π
The WTFPL is a permissive free software license. As a public domain like license, the WTFPL is essentially the same as dedication to the public domain. It allows redistribution and modification of the work under any terms. The name is an abbreviation of Do What The Fuck You Want To Public License.
The first version of the WTFPL, released in Marc...
Saw that one too π
I've add that one CC BY-SA 4.0
Gotta love that naming
currently creating the page for cafe (building story) but it seems there's no main cafe page (or disambiguation) for me to link to as part of the about hatnote, @naive imp thoughts?
I realized we still include ammo and weapon aprt in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Firearm so added back onlyinclude, is that what we generally want continuing doing, seeing we no longer maintain equipment page @digital helm?
Just omit the about for now. Once the general page is created I'll add it
Sorry folks for the inactivity lately, got some irl stuff and creative block atm
happens to the best of us π
Don't stretch yourself too much, breaks are expected, so no worries π
btw, a bit tired, but FYI guys, since I've been having fun with mechanics, I'll be working on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mechanics now, just terribly tired now so just marked it as WIP
I have had quite the weekend and quite the week upcoming so will probably be very light on wiki, i have added the change back to blacksmith on my to-do in case nobody gets to it before that
I'll put it on my shortlist, and see how I go. The style guide and animals are first
Same π
Was thinking about it too, but didn't actually do anything.
I still have some backlog btw, catching up with recent changes to the summary, some unfinished discussions (like dealing with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_where_template_include_size_is_exceeded, some stuff from the wiki review), and then I wanted to go through items/tags, but I keep sidetracking π
And going through https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Known_game_bugs as I think some were fixed in 42.12
Any idea why these were marked with * in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list ? It changed in the 42.12 export, wasn't like that in 42.11 @proud cobalt?
(and yeah, there are some metalworking β blacksmithing renames there too; was just comparing last changes)
Looks like something in the item dictionary "Tank Top": { "categories": [ "Underwear" ], "item_id": [ "Base.Vest_DefaultTEXTURE_TINT", "Base.Vest_DefaultTEXTURE_TINT" ]
we're supposed to fix it manually? Seems the infobox has the TEXTURE one already
No it will be overwritten. I can't check atm but if @digital helm gets the same output running it there's an underlying issue
It's fine for me π€ I'll push an update
"Tank Top": {
"categories": [
"Underwear"
],
"item_id": [
"Base.Vest_DefaultTEXTURE_TINT",
"Base.Vest_DefaultTEXTURE"
]
},
Should be fixed now
<@&671452400221159444>
Thanks! There's an issue with this one too, not sure what's that? (was there before with Calvy's edit it seems too)
Then it's just food and tiles (incl. plants), so not bad
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/JarCrafted is not there too
Side effect of removing DisplayName from the item scripts. This uses the ContainerName instead of DisplayName (nothing defined in translations). We don't currently use the ContainerName when generating the DisplayName. Something we should add.
Note the item's name is technically just Jar, not Empty Jar. Empty is prepended when it's... empty
I think it's related to the issue I mentioned before? Having no redirect for the container names?
But indeed, it's the same in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fluid_container#Items
The issue is in parser script, rather than the wiki or the pwb script. DisplayName was removed in b42.12.0, this item is new
Some redirects may be confusing too:
Base.Pan = https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Pan&redirect=no redirects to Fryin Pan instead of Baking Pan or Baking Tray
I'm not a huge fan of two different containers being grouped together in-game btw. I'd rather have each container being unique, something we'd have TIS to change though
As in the name? The ids are different. This is common for all fluid containers, look at all the bottle variants we have
Do you suggest a disambig page then?
Since it's three items? I guess, with about at the top too?
Not sure how useful are the redirects from ID for people, I find them useful, but I think @flint vapor uses a dictionary instead of relying for the ID redirects?
Yeah, the same dictionary we use for the parser. redirects from ID would be prone to errors
I use the dictionary which holds the page names associated to the item ID of this page
I have started migrating metalworking to blacksmithing. Also fixing up anything left behind from Welding. This isn't confusing at all
Though it's bed time now. I got about 1/4 done
I was thinking of updating the exercise page, and was looking at the code. What's the community etiquette in terms of asking the devs how the game works?
I think something's wrong with the Martin car in debug π
Not sure about the devs, but @quartz bear likes to dig into code and is quick to respond most of time
Updated the table to the new format, should include all the parts except hoor ornaments (these are only available in debug for martin vehicle and have no effect). I added lightbar as it seems to be visible (at least in debug), but not sure if it works? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mechanics#Installing_and_repairing_parts
All this table is handmade. Not sure if parts of it can be automated (mostly the repair recipes, not sure if these can be parsed and added to individual pages too @proud cobalt)
As it's done by hand, feel free to check out for errors. I was using https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2030361886 as a reference, seems weird that Dash Elite is the only exception for seats, not sure if there are more cases like that or is it omission? Not sure if anyone can check that.
Egg Container and Food Containers are trailer trunks are not mentioned anyway (not sure if it's needed?). Trailers seem to follow the same as other vehicles (trailers are standard vehicles)
Some links lead to disambigs too, not sure if the proper page should be made for these
A lot of this info is duplicated in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicle_maintenance (which is technically marked as 41.78.16 but it lists seats as removed so kinda updated for b42 too)
Some problems regarding newspapers:
- Main Newspaper section about the item itself, I think should link to some kind of pages that list every newspapers
- One (and maybe more) pages have double Newspaper link in the See also section (ie)
- I've been thinking of making a main page for newspapers (as readable content), though I have to sort out how to disambiguate between the item itself and the news content
- Seems like it's only wrong on that one article, and probably should be linking to the other named newspapers
π
It's usually to decompile it yourself and figure it out tbh
https://github.com/demiurgeQuantified/ZomboidDecompiler
Most of time (except when I'm at uni, gonna be the worst 4 years of my life)
Hey folks, there is an error in this wikipage https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Private_Militia_(male)
It says they don't spawn in zone stories, but they actually do
Hasn't been updated to b42 yet. Same case for all the outfits I believe. Feel free to update
Oh
Ok Metalworking > Blacksmithing should be done, there's some changes that need to be done on the parser / template side e.g. metalworking_change and some lists still say metalworking instead of welding or blacksmithing. @digital helm just so you know about it, nothing you need to do immediatly
Its a part of a new building story
so it was indeed not a thing back in the day
thats why it says they dont
but thats kinda weird that it shows all the new clothes and stuff they might have, but it says they don't spawn naturally
nvm it doesnt
I think this should be reverted? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Reference_onecell.png βΒ the image was supposed to show one cell and it's showing a whole map? (That's assuming we even need this image at all)
I think it was changed along with this: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Survival_Guide&curid=674&diff=1122761&oldid=1118453
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Doe_Valley/zh-hans should this be deleted or kept? It's just title at this moment
That worked, but we have this π
*Blacksmithing was added in Build 42 when the skill previously known as blacksmithing was moved to welding. Blacksmithing was previously unused in the game's code and known as blacksmith.
Quite a few template loops π© https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_with_template_loops
Yeah, revert it. The one cell image could be helpful for modders and to get a scale of how big the map actually is
Doesn't change the fact the image should be of one cell. A new image should be uploaded in this case, although I'm sure we already have one of the whole map
I'd also revert removing that caption. Since the section starts off by describing the scale. So it was more relevant before than now
Yeah. Feel free to revert at will then, else I will get to it eventually.
I'm sure we discussed this before. Was the decision to not do this? I.e., have a page just to translate the title
At the very least it should have something like stub
I think so too?
Unfortunate result with changing templates around :/ I'll go through them, probably over the weekend
Image reverted, and added back the removed text. That survival guide is pretty irritating to read π
Is it still correct? Cell size changed in B42
What's the cell size now?
New image would be good though
8x8 and 32x32 i always forget which is cells vs chunks
Yeah, that should be updated then. The numbers I added were from your b42 map. Cell is bigger and chunk is smaller iirc
The numbers on B42 map should be correct
Thats 8x8 and 32x32
So a cell would be 256x256 tiles
Yeah, just the 300x300 and 30x30 statement
Image updated to this btw, and updated to the correct values
I heard somewhere that TIS doesn't want to add Fort Knox before NPCs, right?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fort_Knox Yep. Although the referenced source is 11 years old π
Hmm... damn
I kinda wish we had Fort Knox right now, even if there's a bajillion zombies I'd still visit
What would Fort Knox be like in PZ though? It actually seems to be sort of like a small city
It would easily be on par, if not larger/denser than whole of West Point or Muldraugh
Easily bigger. Here's a 1998 image
Yeah, it's pretty much a small city
I wonder if in future builds TIS would add Radcliff and Elizabethtown, it would be great to have more major cities other than just Louisville
Irvington (current 2nd largest city in the map) barely counts as a "major city"
Gotta give the mappers something to do once Fort Knox is added π
TIS should make a far eastern map expansion and south expansion in future versions
Add Interstate 65, Shepherdsville, Fort Knox, Radcliff, and Elizabethtown muahahahaha
Should I add the trivia that when you set the Knox Infection mortality to Never, instead of using the real infection, it uses the one that the Hypochondriac trait used?
It's still someday on the todo list to make it shorter/split/iron out π©
Probably? Sounds like an interesting tidbit. Did you check it in debug that it says fake infected?
Mhm!
Check it for yourself!
Multiple bites don't seem to stack the fake infection
Or well
They might, but all they do is speed up your progress to 100% fake infection
Once you hit it, you go back down
It also seems to make you depressed after all of the symptoms are gone
That is because of the stress
True
I'm not sure about the mechanic levels and whether they change between vehicles, as I think I had different value for gas tanks⦠Can these be parsed somehow? @digital helm or @proud cobalt for ideas? Or maybe @quartz bear can somehow check if we can have the values in any format somehow?
Kinda untimely, omw to uni right now
I'll try to find a time frame to check it out tho xd
Can you clarify what you mean by mechanic levels
Like what specifically in relation to the vehicles
They are being parsed, but it's defined per vehicle, so it's a bit of a pita to deal with. I did notice some things are wrong with the race cars, so I'd need to take a closer look
hello, in the improve template, is it necessary the {} in the title? i can't think of a way to keep the phrase neutral (spanish is mostly gendered). changing "Esta {} puede necesitar mejoras." for "Se pueden necesitar mejoras." removes the gender problem. Also apologies if i'm not explaining myself, i'm running on fumes lol
tf spiffo π
Hard to say with certainty, since I don't know the language π , but the {} will be replaced by 'article', 'section', 'template', etc. (to the equivalent in the language). If you struggle to make it consistent, you could remove it. It's really just a little bit of extra flavour.
Translations for that are here btw https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Page_ns
Yeah vail does all the vehicle stuff i have no idea how it works
Like Vail said you can hard code it to the equivalent of 'page', which would still be correct. Instead of article, section, template
recommended level to install/uninstall a part, so 0% chanxw to fail
but the recommended mechanic level is per part per vehicle, right? Do we have that data in a raw format somewhwre? Or do we have it per part only in infobox?
Here it is parsed as json. This is from the vehicle scripts, where the template scripts are merged
iirc, there are several templates which define the values for parts, but each vehicle needs to call those templates, and those vehicles can also overwrite them. As is common with trunks. They often get the template, and the item, but overwrite the capacity value
Oh ok
So I don't need to do anything
Right
Probably not, no
Thanks!
Thanks! I indeed see there's values but going through it manually is kinda pointless π©. Probably better to think of a way to automate it
If I have time this weekend I'll see about putting it in a readable format for you. But no promises since there's a few other things I'm trying to get done too
<@&671452400221159444>
I've added a join module, which is just a way to concatenate strings in templates. This shouldn't be used on regular pages.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Module:Join
Example:

Produces:
One β’ Two β’ Three
This is intended to simplify and improve readability on templates like Navboxes that have long lists.
Oooh that's pretty cool
Should we add a "source" parameter ? If so, how should it be presented in the quote template ?
Since I end up having to add a link to the source
I usually just include the link in the author. So you could do [source Erika]
I see
Sounds good
White github logo for dark mode
Also testing for generic chain icon
What do you think ?
Tiddy up time chain looks better imo
What is it ?
Oh sorry lol
The dark one
Yeah
I didn't get you were talking about the link title lol
I find it a bit limit on the color contrast with the dark background
I just realized I can make in white the X logo too
That PZ blog logo is also really not good for dark background, the text is very problematic
Should I have it use the TIS forum logo instead ?
Or edit the logo ?
Could use the favicon https://theindiestone.com/favicon.ico
Yea so the TIS forum one
@serene sage is the story indeed from 41.78.16? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Burnt_with_Corpses
Seems to be some useful bits to put on the main page someday https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Talk:Exercise&curid=28999&diff=1170803&oldid=1013915
yep
It seems that the descriptior in parantheses of pages like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Cooking_(item) and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Icon_(item) are the same. Not sure if that's an issue? Pinging @digital helm and @flint vapor as one is from new item pages and one is related to modding π€
I guess that can be a problem yea, figured there could be such clashes
This is going to be very problematic and there's no easy solution bcs the way other script types have descriptors makes it that item is correct for item scripts
See:
- craftRecipe scripts params https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:CraftRecipe_parameters
- mannequin scripts params https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Mannequin_parameters
I guess some of item scripts params used (item parameter)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Item_script_parameters
That was before I came along tho, and I'm going to try to work a bit on these pages to update them for B42
I am a little disturbed by other script types simply having their script names as the descriptor while item scripts would have parameter in the descriptor
We could come up with a better descriptor for this type of page. But item names would need to be the priority, in case there's clashes there
I don't know what else to have for these though https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fishing_(item)
Can someone check if these values are correct btw? If so, I guess we can remove the Verify tag? Also are we sure the stress, while not doing anything, isn't increasing? This could be tested in debug mode: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Stressed&diff=1171321&oldid=1171311 Not sure if @quartz bear want to do that π
working with time units in pz is the scariest shit ever
Yeah, just these two. I remember briefly discussing just having an (item) in parantheses may indicate (at least that was my impression), that there's an item literally called Cooking verbatim (e.g. a debug item)
I'll check in a moment
Also while at it, I think it's correct, but It'd be best to double check that too: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Automated_Emergency_Broadcast_System&curid=14365&diff=1122503&oldid=1120831
Maybe I'll just go with items and call it a day π
May be better, yeah π
Still may have clashes with regular items though
Most players will never see how deep animals go π here's some examples
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Rambouillet_Ewe
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Angus_Bull
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Simmental_Cow
I didn't even cover a lot of mechanics
Do "empty" rooms add to a building's room count?
you mean the one we list in wiki? Good question, I think it's up to us? Unless there's some randomized stories that rely on amount of rooms?
I'd personally still count them, though some "rooms" are like the inside of the pillars on map
@thin cloud it seems that this flier https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:HomeWard_Real_Estate_House_855_Flier.png says the house is Long Branch Road, but shouldn't it technically be Beehive Hill Road?
There seems to be unmarked road too, Rogers Avenue (though it seems to be really tiny for a proper road?) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Flyer_Nails%26Nuts.png
Although may fit an avenue (it has trees)
Also, not sure if this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:HomeWard_Real_Estate_House_922_Flier.png shouldn't be (South) Main St. instead of St. Martin's Road, as the driveway connects to the main road? (theres seems to be some error in coords of these streeet not covering the corner, not sure if it's game of b42 map's parsing error)
There seems to be an issue with Bearcramp Road being everywhere around Valley Station
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:West_Point_Town_Hall_Flier.png This flier should probably say main street, it's closer to 4th st instead of 3rd street, but it still faces Main St.
Also @thin cloud there are things like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:StuartandLog_Flier.png marked as KY-477 but it is Irvington Heights Road, I guess we can assume it's the same name for two roads? (Local and regular)
Similar with how KY-163 is called Ollin Road for a while, which should be probably be either Sawyer Lane or Tim Cain Road: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:HomeWard_Real_Estate_House_930_Flier.png (||and like tartan mention, obvious Fallout reference, also dwelling for the flier is fitting :D||)
And US-60 is Fiddler's Trail https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Onyx_Drive-In_Theater_Flier.png https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:KnoxKnewsJuly4.png
And shouldn't both of these be Boyd Road? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Five_Alarm_Firehouse_Chili_Flier.png https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Bradenburg_Fire_Department_Flier.png β they are literally next to each other, on the same street
Yes most probably
Finally, some Spiffo's location on the spawning map are wrong:
- There's no "Main street" in Riverside it's Rock Ridge Road (unless it's local name)
- Spiffo's on West Point is not on Main street, it's either on Oak, Mulberry or 3rd street
- In Rosewood it's technically North main street, but other fliers don't state North/South either, so it's relatively fine
- For Irvington I guess it's passable? Though shouldn't it be where entrance is at?
It seems right for Brandenburg though
(there's more below :D, just finished bringing old @hushed bobcat's edits back and I'm now comparing with street names we have now) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Street_names
(btw, sorry it took me a while Halwaru but your work should be brought back now with what @tulip kiln added later π₯³). I also added some missing coordinates and confirmed some names, the only difference is that I grouped the multiple entries of a street together now, so if we have two fliers for the same streetm these are one entry now
Yeah, I noticed too π I added license to that, I assumed CC3.0 as it's the default for us right now, but feel free to adjust that to other license from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:License icon if you want (or let us know to add the new license, but I think you didn't choose any license on GitHub) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Wiki_That!_-_preview.png
Also there are two of my PRs for Wiki That! @flint vapor https://github.com/SirDoggyJvla/Wiki-That/pulls (one is translation to Polish from back then, still unmerged)
Never saw these
Idk why I wouldn't receive any notification from Github about these
or actually, maybe I should change it to TIS since it has the icon?
Eh, idk
yeah, I forgot to check that too lol
merged and uploaded your translation to the mod
Don't be too surprised Faalagorn, a lot of flier addresses do directly conflict with the real in-game street names
For that house though, I kinda understand why it say Long Branch Road instead
@flint vapor all the animals are added, and I've updated the page dictionary, ready for Wiki That.
There's a lot of ids, but I'd go with full_breed_id which is a concatenation of animal_id and breed_id.
So in lua I believe that should be:
animal_id = animalObj:getAnimalType()
breed_id = animalObj:getData():getBreed():getName()
full_breed_id = animal_id .. breed_id
animal_group_id = animalObj:getGroup() -- this one is just for the groups, i.e. Sheep. Maybe use this as a fallback?
List of the animals are here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Animal_list
Yeah one randomized story does base on room count, its the pre-looted buildings
To be exempt from that story, a building must have more rooms than "Maximum Building Looted Rooms" (by default is 50) so I was wondering if "empty" rooms count to that as well
Here's a flattened list. Hopefully this is easier to read.
It's also wiki friendly https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_7
Take all the values with a grain of salt. As I mentioned, I noticed some inconsistencies with what's in-game, so I need to look again at how it works
I guess it's another thing poor @quartz bear to check then π (or someone else)
Thanks! I wonder, what's under the PassengerCompartment; is it pickup's truck bed?
Also, do you have a script for that so it can be run again in case something changes in the future?
btw, since the page lists all variants separately; how many heavy-duty variants we have compared to standard and sports π
Not really surprising though, as they all serve as utility vehicles with unique liveries
I have no idea about the time unit, it uses GameTime.instance.getMultiplier()
@digital helm these won't be lost I guess? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Gardening&curid=32281&diff=1171709&oldid=1171497
0.0005 / 2 * stressLevel
this is multiplied by the game time multiplier
which i have no clue what means
the range for this increment is 0-100
as is with any stat
this is the relevant piece of code
I assume it was tested in-game? I'm gonna test whether the morale decreases at all
idk what morale even is
It does decrease morale, it's just not-functional
hm lemme check
old system that's there in debug π
I'll just mention the morale bit in trivia I guess
yeah idk how to work with ingame time sorry
I believe @flat sun said it's usually 1 in game minute
then it seems to be a +0.03 increase per hour (on a value with a cap of 100!)
which doesn't make sense
maybe I'm cooked idk
if I'm stupid and it's a cap of 1 then it would make more sense(+3%/h)
but I don't know
I think I'm cooked
elaborate
the conversation is kinda hard to follow
ok I think I see what this is about
first of all, ironically
there's a hard limit on 20 rooms for looted buildings (NOT shops)
I think it depends on what is implied by "empty"
there are generic "rooms" and there are "empty outside" rooms for every building definition
the "empty outside" rooms are NOT considered when calculating the amount of rooms for looted exemption
but I have no idea what the hell these rooms even are
think you might need a map maker's help on that one
or someone who knows this
found this explanation in the game's translations
"Use this to let the game know where the different rooms in your player-made buildings are. <LINE> <LINE> Only rooms on the player's current level are shown. <LINE> <LINE> Rooms named 'emptyoutside' represent areas hanging off of exterior walls.",
Thx, I'll check it out
yeah that's about what I expected
no idea if this is what was implied by @rotund echo though
anyhow, straight up empty rooms do count in the calculation
It's a hidden part. I believe it's just the cab. used for things like temperature. Truck bed is just a trunk without a trunk lid
Was about to send it to you π
I mean like "empty", like the insides of pillars or the room definitions of changing rooms at clothes stores
Ah, cool
the answer is whatever is considered a room by the building definition
Ah, they would. I thought I checked the dates in-game after the recent patch π€ also not sure why the Items nav template was added back?
Yeah these are all wrong (if the game's ui is correct)
All these dates were already updated https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Gardening&diff=1169577&oldid=1120187
not sure either, just realized that
so revert?
I barely grasp it anyway, so you're league above me π. I'm leaving it with Verify for now, if someone want to double check/remove, be my guest in here
The last remaining thing is https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Automated_Emergency_Broadcast_System&curid=14365&diff=1122503&oldid=1120831 β I believe it's correct, but can it be checked to make sure @quartz bear? It seem to have changed during B42
(the hour)
Yeah I'll revert
I wonder whey they got the wrong impression though? Are the dates still wrong in code?
I have no clue how the broadcast system works
I have even less clue what "updates at 8 AM" stands for
it does come at the end of the report
but what is the time here for
I think it's the time when the message pops on screen
Maybe @digital helm can double check to make sure it's correct?
I've never looked into how AEBS works, so I have no idea, sorry π
Well, maybe it just appears so since the messages take fixed amount of time to pop on screen? Though that'd apply only for default settings since I think the messages are based on real time
I figure they probably assumed no one had corrected it yet. Because it was out by month. The bot moved to back a month, and they moved it back another month.
AddFuzz is random
it can happen but it can also not happen
it is only guaranteed to happen once before the air activity announcement
what the hell is louisville obfuscation
looks like something that is not enabled in the game
I guess it won't be documented on the wiki then
anyway, no idea what the time (7/8 AM) stands for
I don't see anything relevant in code
Louisville obfuscation i assume has to do with when the player enters louisville before the media speaks about the border. All media about louisville gets cancelled if they enter early. My guess is that's what it is
all I can say is that AEBS_segment_early_morning is from 4 AM to 7 AM
but that doesn't seem to affect the broadcast
yeah it looks like in the code when this happens all the transmissions become garbled
@languid kayak I want to move Wiki That out of modding projects
Which category should it be in ?
I don't want it to be in modding either
It's an official mod for the wiki, it's not for modders themselves
PZwiki:Wiki That!
So a PZwiki module page directly ? But which category ?
Or you mean the category PZwiki ?
Wait the icon stuff were removed ? What did I miss ?
Oh it's in the sandbox nvm
Sandbox hasn't been merged yet, was about to
π
I think the pzwiki category is fine for now
It also has the Project Zomboid Map Project article
π
Was wondering about that too, I put it to modding proejcts instrinctively too, but PZwiki namespace might work too
Which navbox ? Is there one I should use ?
I don't want it in the modding category, it's not a modding project, it doesn't respect the rules for the modding projects
Nor is it for modders
It's based on category
Yea
Yeah
Looks good
I'll talk about it in the modding summary
I guess we should move it to PZwiki: namespace then?
If so, feel free to @proud cobalt or @digital helm and update the link in main page, else I can do it later
Idk
You do that if you want
The other ones are in the main namespace, so it can stay for now unless we move all
or actually we may not? Since https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Map_Project is not in PZwiki namespace?
Same with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Undeniable.info
I got at least one thing off my to-do list today. Added chum to evolved recipes template
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:EvolvedRecipesForItem&curid=5546&diff=1171869&oldid=1122571
so a chum was something that used totally different way of listing its ingredients, right? Great work anyway π
Yeah i believe so, i cant understand fishing couldnt get it to work lol
Well, the skills do offer new way to obtain (or use) stuff, so I agree. Foraging, Fishing, Animal Husbandry, Butchering, Trapping and Agriculture
Kinda Trapping too I guess? This is the skill I know the least of π
I really dont know anythng about any of those π I just like to find weapons and kill zombies
Theres never a scenario where i dont have food
I spent a lot of time looking into foraging and animals and I still know nothing about tracking π
What informations are available from crops ?
On the wiki, that could be added to the dictionary ?
I would need the tiles that are crops and their associated crop page
Actually maybe I don't need that
Ah... nothing yet https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Barley_(crop) we've got no id for them @proud cobalt not sure if we can have one(?)
There's the images of the crops
Those should be the tile IDs ?
Tho there isn't all the crop phases
They are, but they're not all done, missing a few stages
I might also be able to hook to an existing context menu for crops and detect from there if a crop was right clicked tbf
I just have not gotten back to them
Support for right-clicking movable tiles (as well as tiles such as Well or Water) would be nice too, but these are all outdated mostl;
Yea I can look into adding that, we had discussed it previously
Tho if they are mostly outdated, idk
Theyre not really mostly outdated
They just havnt had the version verified and bumped
π
Looks like we already have crop data being parsed. These are the key for the sprite groups in farming_vegetableconf_vegetables_sprites.lua these could work as a 'crop id'
That would be quick to add
Not sure how accessible these are for you @flint vapor
These are 100% accessible
If you give me the IDs from these tables associated to their wiki page that should be enough
That'd be enough I think
farming_vegetableconf.sprite
IDs from this table associated to their Wiki page
This will include both
farming_vegetableconf_vegetables_sprites.lua
and
farming_vegetableconf_herbs_sprites.lua
While removing https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Help:Contents/tr&diff=prev&oldid=1171883 I realized we can link to non-English wikipedias like that https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Help:Contents/tr&diff=prev&oldid=1171883
Wikipedia:xx:Page
with xx being the langue we want to link to
So for example Wikipedia:pl:Polska
The link bumps through en wikipedia, but links to the generic one, will be handy for translators for sure
It goes through https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/pl:Polska
btw @digital helm what do we need to update https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicle_maintenance to latest version? It's pretty much the only page from 41.78.16 and even that isn't technically true as seats are marked as "Removed" (which is a B42 thing IIRC)
I think the main changes in B42 are changes to how gasoline is kept, the magazine names, the seats being removed and addition of lighbars and hood ornaments?
What are the inconsistencies you noticed btw? So far I mostly noticed that some heavy-duty vehicles require basic recipes (gas tank) and basically there's often two values depending on the vehicle
Didn't check them in game though
@digital helm I guess we should change it from https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Autogenerated_articles_(B42_animals)&action=edit&redlink=1 to simply "Autogenerated articles (animals)" since animals are B42 only anyway and we don't really use it. It's just 66 pages so I can do that manually, but the scripts would have to be adjsuted.
I think the same should apply to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Autogenerated_articles_(B42_tiles) though it's 705 pages and the movable/tile updater needs some love anyway, so maybe just mark it for moving @proud cobalt?
Actually, going even futher, I think https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Autogenerated_articles_(B42) should be renamed to "Autogenerated articles (items)", thoughts?
And not sure how needed https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Autogenerated_articles_(B41) even is at this point, not sure if these have no equivalent in B42/were renamed/removed?
Oh, another one I found is window not listing any mechanics requirement while they require 3 in-game
Not sure, but I think the PassengerCompartment is what allows you to access the trunk from the back seats?
So <@&1205891296565268520> it's time for the September 2025 summary! This time it also comes with the wrap-up of the 2025 PZwiki Review done by @proud cobalt which was based on your feedback from the 2025 PZwiki sentiment survey, so thanks to everyone who participated in it! Enjoy! https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:News#September_2025_summary
Don't want this ping? Remove the wiki editor role in id:customize
Wooooo!
Sorry guys for being kinda slow on both project history and wiki overallπ
Ill try to get back in track in October or November
no worries π I'm also lazy to split https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_41 for the history project, though I keep on sidetracking eveywhere π
looks like we have another one @proud cobalt π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Baseball_Bat_with_Spikes
Just need to finish the script, but as I said, vehicle parts are a pita so I've been putting it off π it's just the install/uninstall that's unfinished
The specific one was the wrong magazine for the race cars
Probably should yeah. Just need to clear out the b41 items then we can probably remove the b42 from all of them
That too, yeah. There's a figure called something like area which covers both the passenger compartment and trunk. Or something along those lines
There's also B41 tiles though and one day there might be B43 tiles so it's good to be able to track what is using the latest version of the parser
Good point. I guess it doesn't take away from anything having it
Crop ID has been added to the page dictionary as part of the tiles section (uses infobox tile)
Thanks
Np π
hello, im changing the outfit names to the spanish translation, is that okay? it makes no sense to keep them with that name when trnaslating (?)
The outfit names are only really back end code names. They're not user facing names. They shouldn't really be translated, like room names
alrighty, ty!
question. should i link to the /es of the item pages even when it's unlikely they'll be translated soon? or should i keep them with the english link? blue links looks better than red π
also i dont know if i already asked at some point, sorry if so
On /es pages you should link to /es even if it doesnt exist yet
okay, ty!
Perfect thx
yo i kinda forgot if i was meant to do anything
so are we uniformly added (BXX) to all the autogenerated pages? Would be nice to have them kinda unified. I also have to add https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Autogenerated_articles_(B42_animals)&action=edit&redlink=1 to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance for tracking
Bob
I was so confused lol, but it's the default displayName for IsoPlayer and thus for animals
Why tf is there a SINGLE tile which has a different module ?
Tiles don't even have modules, so that's kind of fucked
@digital helm @proud cobalt are all the tiles that have pages inside the dictionary ? I'm a bit surprised to not find the well inside it
Only movables I believe, that'd be why they're missing
But the composter can be moved
Well anyway it'd be interesting to add all the buildables as tiles in the dictionary
Since now I'm adding support for tiles from the dict
Very cool
Nobody has set the sprite ID for the well page
If you add the support it will always get better as we make the wiki better too
Yea it's supported by default
As long as it follows the same information template as the other tiles in the dictionary, it'll get added in when I update the dict and mod
Added the sprite for the well so next time page dict runs it will have it
I think they should stay how they are
π
if it's a single tile, maybe it's worth noting to devs?
I think well is not
Idk, or it's the wiki which is weird ?
Every moveables follow the same scheme, but not this one
I was playing Zomboid in 4K, and after switching back to 1920x1080, I noticed such a remarkable performance improvement that it made me question the real benefit of 4K.
Since the game is mostly 2D with very few 3D assets, I realized the main thing I appreciated in 4K was the HUD... tighter to the edges, cleaner, and allowing me to see much more of the world.
So, I was wondering: could we create a mod that βsimulatesβ that 4K-style HUD, same proportions, fonts, and layout, but while running the game in 1080p?
Probably yes
Wrong channel π
It'd be the wiki. I don't know the technicals behind it, but a bunch of tiles have an item id (Base.Microwave) for loot spawning, but when you pick up any tile, it uses its sprite (Movables.appliances_cooking_01_24). On the wiki, the item_id is suppose to be that custom id first, but fallback to Movables.[sprite] if it doesn't have one
They may have all accidentally been replaced at some point, except this one
I think there is such option in B42? Not sure
but yeah, more #1019767076094758924 or #pz_b42_chat if it's B42 (B41 is not getting any updates anymore)
If not implemented, you could suggest that as a feature improvement in forums
We've moved the logic for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Localized_link and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Language_code_subpage over to lua. This should significantly improve load times in some cases, especially long list pages that use these templates.
These are core templates for the translatability of the wiki and are used on almost every page (if not all) in some aspect. So if there's any issues, please let me know. Might be some delay as the cache updates.

It's beautiful
Site notice updated to a Wiki That! shoutout
Slowly making progress on the language page versions again. Quite a few pages going for deletion due to abandonment (V35 or lower since last meaningful edit)
Pinned the release too on Discord (not that many people read pinned notices :P)
btw @flint vapor won't check it in-game now, but is it possible to right-click wiki that from te animal zone menu? There should be a list of animals there too
Probably yes, idk how those work but I can look into it
oh wow thats pretty neat
Yup π
I'm playing on a server with my friends through Steam, but I'm stuck and need to request permission from Steam. I've been stuck for a long time, please help me.
Wrong chat
Sorry π
Ok TV and radios are kind of confusing objects
I'm searching but I've yet to find a way to trace back to the item ID for placed radios
Oh yeah, that'd be just to reuse the params from the item infobox

Haven't had time to look at the animal zone thing
I'll do that later
shouldn't there be a full stop at the end of the IGUI_WikiThat_ModOptions_Browser?
made a PR for Polish btw
A full stop ?
.
No not really
oh wait, maybe not
Options don't have dots
I accidentially put one in Polish, let me fix that
Should be fixed now π https://github.com/SirDoggyJvla/Wiki-That/pull/4
Now I go to sleep π

updated the panic page
evidence for my changes (removed the damage penalties, added the aim penalties):
Hey @gloomy glen Feel free to bump any of the pages you're working on to B42, when adding them i have to assume its B41 of before otherwise i might accidently mark something outdated as current. E.g.
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Building_stories/es&curid=162549&diff=1198241&oldid=1196937
Alrighty, ty!
Np, dw you didn't do anything wrong
Augh
Vector got updated again

I hate how it becomes more and more citizen-like
On another note, b42 map had actually started working for me properly
Ig my last isp had actually blocked it for some reason
In what way? Hasn't been any update for quite a while
Unless you mean on Wikipedia/MediaWiki, then we'll get it eventually
unless they change it again
Nah from Kirrus
Was your idea to access animal pages directly from this menu ?
Or this one ?
How are we feeling about Wiki That supporting mods ?
Not as in implementing direct links to mods, but mostly allowing modders to use it as a framework of their own ?
Or I mean add support to it in their own mod ?
So they can link to their pages, be it proper wiki or a simple link to their Steam page
The mod could also default to open the Steam page of modded elements
I believe we are able to check if an item is from a mod, tho might not work for every game elements
