Might need to look at scrapping it and replace it with a body part template. Body location is really only related to the model and acts like a 'slot'
I could put together a script for that. Already have it working for the clothing list
Yeah I think the idea was to pretty much Recreate it with that purpose
Might look at it tonight actually
Been some real good work by some new editors lately. Particularly on animals. Glad someone was able to get to it
Really nice to see. A lot of new stuff to learn there
I've taken a couple hours over the last few dayd to just play, Die, adjust sandbox settings, and repeat 😂
It's a different beast without mods too
Oh I know. Some of my QOL mods got updated. I miss my vehicles though
does the game differentiate between Armor and not? If not, I think I'd be better to just sort it by armor "slot", so people can pick the best-in-slot item for their use case (at least that's how I always used this table and what I did rework in mind with; previously barely anyone knew what layers can be worn with together)
As far as backpack sprayer I think it uses a separate slot? Though I have to say, I barely had occasion to play the game yet and only early game and I didn't even fiddle with debug yet 😄
neat 🙂 I think the remaining pre-b42 stuff from tasks would be good to go.
Will take me some time to catch up with the real b42 stuff 😄 So far I mostly patrol new stuff (which is nice, we got so many new editors), and modding finally getting love, plus sharp busy with the new locations right now it seems 🙂
(and lore-y stuff)
I mostly miss mp to play with wife properly on kb+m 😄 I played on a controller, took me a while to figure why I can't attack (turned out it was a setting on steam controller that made it unable to I had to change)
It doesn't. I just chucked them in there since I was starting to confuse myself. The problem is all the different body locations which overlap with other body locations. E.g. ShoulderpadLeft can't be equipped with FullSuit, Back, FullTop, ShoulderHoster, etc.
I can definitely just go with their own sections.
Backpack sprayer takes up the same slot as backpacks Back, same with the SCBA
Also, I ended up removing jewellery since there's a few new items that go on the neck that aren't jewellery. Game doesn't differentiate between jewellery.
I combined scarf and neck too, since there are now scarves that have the neck body location. Kept them all in accessory though
yeah, we had overlapping locations before, just not to this degree. Maybe it'd be just best to just make one table for one location then? Seems the most sane idea, then just describe in text which colide.
Or maybe we can somehow visualize the colliding areas? That's something I'd love to have documented.
I'll probably sink deeper into it on gameplay, as tailoring was the most liked addition of mine 😛
Right now I'm too focused trying not to die 😄
Back in b41 there was some distinction actually, it just wasn't so obvious, is that jewelery/accessories didn't accumulate the blood. Categories were sometimes messed, and so were the inspect window presence for accessories.
so scarves and neck jewelry can't be worn together now?
My 2c, one table per location. We have no idea what they're going to add next. It's already so hard to make sense of their locations. Unless we come up with a better solution/Template
That's a lot of sections and tables. Each table we add increases the load time a fair bit. Currently sitting at about 12 seconds for me.
Not sure what you mean by colliding areas
That's just because they don't have a BloodLocation defined (body part), because they give no protection
I think they can still be worn separately. But there are some items with "scarf" in the name
Also, there's over 100 body locations now
overlapping/conflicting, that'd probably be a better word, yeah 😛
Oh that makes a difference
Added earlier today https://pzwiki.net/wiki/BodyLocation
Oh... That is a lot
We can come back to it once we get a chance to play around with the game a bit more. I put armor at the top since it might be what people are most interested in for now
oh, that's nice! Something to point to definitely.
BTW, you said I can't modify the table as it's autogenerated, but are we gonna modify the description by hand or in script?
The only thing the script does is the tables and sections. This https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_2
The only problem with the autogenerated pages is inability to do so from the mediawki directly 😩.
Unless we indeed get some extra functionality to just edit the sources there
btw, I doub there's any chance between CantHaveHoles - and False? Or is the default true?
We could go with using bot flags. But right now it's just copy pasted from a txt file that's autogenerated. Which is a lot easier than manually editing each section separately 😄
- is for not given, which defaults to not being able to have holes. The only options are really - and True
I was going to look at that more. And use a tick/check or cross
A tick cross system would work well though, easier for users
would be nice if the script files were consistent in one way or another btw 😄 But yeah, having a fallback is important too
I think default is actually true iirc
You're probably right actually, makes more sense to only define what cant have holes
consistency? No way 😄
When you have 2,000 items that can have holes and like 200 that cant
what are exclusive and hidden locations btw?
exclusive = can't equip them both at the same time
hidden = model is hidden when equipped
I expected something like that, thanks! Probably best to put it into that page
I originally had this
;Location: BodyLocation
;Exclusive locations: BodyLocation that it cannot be equipped with
;Hidden locations: BodyLocation models that will be hidden when equipped
But ended up with this
The below table shows a list of all body locations, exclusive locations, and location models that are hidden when equipped.
Honestly feels like project locations is worked on mainly by me
, and location models that are hidden when equipped.
and here's me not realizing what I read 😄
Yeah, first is probably more clear
and not really have to be short with this one
Feel free to change it. Just wanted a way to introduce the table, and ended up with including it there
But thats probably because most of the contributors had moved on to other projects, which is fair
Think will want to get on it when he's feeling better, other than that, pretty much yeah 😄
Though there are edits here and there I have to clean up a little.
So far the most confusion seems is people adding Build 42 secions, while we have oldid for build 41.
Will take a while
@primal remnant had done some contributions recently
It was the same thing with b41. I think people just don't know what to do. So add the new info there so someone else that knows can fix it. I don't have any issue with that
I'd rather fix it than not have it. Just cleaned up a bunch of those animal articles. Though they could use some more
(In actuality Calvy was the biggest contributor with his map)
Like farming, they're a bit harder and take longer to test. Farming at least has good debug options now
Id probably still be overwhelmed with additions if the map didn't exist
Hey I fixed some of the new towns too
Ayo!
can I offer my help editing the wiki? Particuarly the items > food space? I'm working on a mod that extends out the variety of vanilla foods, so I'm already in this space, compiling information.. I might as well make myself useful for you guys
Of course, anyone can contribute. Do you have any experience editing wiki before?
none, but willing to learn
Only a smidge of adding on, text wise. Still studying Echo Creek for the time being
Maybe I should take notes instead of relying on memory alone lmao
No problem. Helps us guage what you need to know. Here's the start of our help pages. It covers the basics about the wiki, and some basic style and formatting. Then you can edit anything you want to help with. We do have community projects which can be a good place to start. Our B42 project has some info on clothing, though we're all still trying to process what actually needs updating.
Otherwise any other help, feel free to ask
thank you, I'll have a read and get started when I can ☺️
yup, I don't mind either. Just will take my time before I move into something bigger I guess 😄
Hey, additional unpaid intern is better than no unpaid intern
Its just like real wikipedia
I often point people to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Community_portal - it has links to everything else. Food isn't part of any project, I'm not sure if @digital helm isn't working on autogenerated table similar to clothing, if not then the manually-updated one from build 41 is here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Food
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list is list of all items, including food too these are automatically generated but see also have to be adjusted and some human description added. Some may have remnants of b41 info which is not accurate.
Keep in mind we're all adjusting to the changes too, so some things may change, in particular crafting we will not spend too mcuh time in case it will change a lot internally soon™
Planning on autogenerating food, yeah. I already did nutritional values https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Nutritional_values but separating them into sections is a bit more complicated, especially because the game doesn't use food types to the degree we do
Not sure what's other opinion, but I think we can part with some of the artificial food types, especially as they don't have much effect in game – at leas that's my opinion
Though I can guess that some people, especially on mp would like to create fitting dishes so I may be wrong 😄
I think it's nice organising it into real world categories, but I'm not attached to it
Today we are taking a look at Ekron in Project Zomboid, one of the new towns added in Build 42, lets see what this town has to offer.
Huh
Didn't notice that
Surprised that was found so quick. Especially without a map
41 unique body part combinations. Which means we need 41 images 😩
might not get it finished tonight. But I've got the data generated
that's the covered body parts, right? The ones that apply bonus to protection/warmth/insulation?
yeah
although there are 17 parts. So probably not that bad
Nah, no new parts, just the combinations. Before there was no item that was just left shin, for example
ah, makes sense we didn't need it then, aside from maybe a mod that could use it
thank you
@languid kayak @proud cobalt Body part template pretty much set up https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Body_part
Looks really good, might have been said before, but is this replacing body location?
Yeah. Body location doesn't really mean anything. or at least doesn't need an image
Made some more changes to the clothing article. Added missing items, like webbing https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Clothing#Belts and back items https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Clothing#Back. This means we now have some containers here
Damn
Final version of the church looks a bit sadder than a teased one
so much greenery was removed
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Muldraugh_Police_Department page created
Businesses are up
All community businesses are updated
Others will take a bit
Any easy tools that exist to get tables in file formats as Wiki tables ?
Added a table to this page, if you guys can tell me if I should handle that differently
someone got a playground though
what do you mean, there are tables that are not wikitables? Wiki understands HTML tables, too.
No like I have a CSV for example, to quickly format it into a wikitable
If there are tools for that which exist for the wiki
please never remove the old theme
Wdym ?
I don't like the new pzwiki theme
you mean something like this?
Sort of
What theme ?
the new one
The businesses still operated at playtime, you just didn't know that
And while you were away, they signed a deal to merge the 2 businesses into one
And also merge the building
Real theory.
And remove the baking
Uhh yes
What does "sort of" imply here
A script yes, but if it already exists for Wiki editors
well I just wrote one
is that not enough
No that's absolutely not what I needed lol
well then you have to repeat yourself with more details
I got a csv of data, needed a tool to directly style it in wiki table
Which I did already
and what does my script do
What's going here lol, leave me alone wtf
I just don't get why you're forcing so much on it
Thanks, but I meant an already existing tool for us to use
If it's just about writing a script ourself, I already did that
probably there is something, but I don't know of any; should be doable with a script and I think alluseri posted one just right after 😄
Yes, that's the whole point of the conversation here
@naive imp Should we update all unnamed corner stores/grocery stores?
I think you said that we will try to just have them as a part of a "Unaffiliated" section in the main Grocery store page
yeah, I noticed 😄
The format is simple, so I don't think much people bothered writing a tool really
Guessed so yeah, tho since you seem to have big tables that you update automatically, figured there might be something already existing
back when i worked on relookup i built all the tables manually
no idea how they do it nowadays
Nothing existing. Just haven't had the need. The automated tables are all built manually, so it never gets converted to csv
👌
@flint vapor I'm a bit tired, and going off to sleep now, and patrolling all the new stuff will take me a while, but I'm not straight up removing the mod creation page yet, as per https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Mod_creation&diff=752853&oldid=752737 – are these all truly moved? I find the folder layout at least handy, and I don't seem that in modding?
Here's the last oldid in case anyone's wondering: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Mod_creation&oldid=752737
Sorry it can be a mess but I think I found a good workflow for the modding Wiki now
So some pages were created for nothing, but that should be the last of it
Folders structure already existed, wasn't too sure about that page at the time, but now that I've got an image of how things can be and should be organized random pages appearing and needing to be deleted a week later will probably not happen anymore
Folders_structure is linked in the Modding page
There's a looooot of stuff that will keep coming in tho, got one big page coming up which took me the day of testing various stuff in the game, it's not that massive but yeah, it's detailed
I've gone back and forth with how to organise things on the wiki several times, so don't stress about changing your mind and feel like you're stuck with a specific way of doing things. We're happy to delete and move things if it's for a better end result
👌
Vector legacy will never be removed. At least no time in the near future. It's included in the vector package that mediawiki uses as default afaik
In saying that, Vector22 has replaced vector legacy as the default mediawiki skin, even for wikipedia. So there will be discussion when the wiki updates versions about the default skin
The entire navigation and categories project was having discussions on changes until literally the day it was finished.
And now we're never changing our mind
jk
Not going anywhere. Pretty sure it's bundled with mediawiki. Same with monobook
Big modding page
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mod_Options
Maybe we should've included a bot flag, so it can be updated?
Updating isnt an issue, ive got regex to identify the template. It's more adding it to pages that dont have it, and removing it from pages that dont need it
I assume check for the body part heading and if there's not a txt file for the item, remove it? If there's no heading but is a txt file, add it above a specific heading
Not sure how this works with the bot tbh 😅
Should I include a dummy item_id parameter? In case we have merged items
I cant think of any that would be different? It just goes off the first itemid right now
Poncho comes to mind
Crap, that place has a zombie heatmap now smh
Well at least Valley Station's heatmap isn't as insane as before, but my God look at the fence
Oh fair. Hmm
I think the heatmap is less of a heatmap and more of a zombies can spawn here atm. Probably needs to be looked at by champ but there's other priorities
Simple, i'll just search for any that still have an = in the template, then take that list of pages and remove the lines that have the header and template
Then the next time updater goes around it will fix the double empty line
Hey, Build 41 Valley Station was legitimately cancerous, I got irl exhaustion playing in Valley Station
This "heatmap" of sorts still shows me things are getting better for the place
Thanks! And yeah, don't worry about changing your mind 🙂 It just will take me a while to catch up to your changes, especially as I may have slightly limited time now, and you added a lot so better for me to ask 😄
Yea I'm cooking a lot of pages lol
Not too shabby 😄
hm... is there a single funeral home in all of project zomboid? im surprised i havent stumbled across one
oh neat! labeled as a church though 🤔
For standardisation
ah, fair enough
500$ for a casket?
This is a robbery
Thats pretty cheap
Is that the wrong building?
Is it?
looks about the same to me. though it might have gotten a glow up in b42
Maybe not, the roof just looks weird
...who builds a building like that
Technically yes
Its an old screenshot
another one to the collection
honestly that IS a little better. at least it's not just an empty concrete square
Look, its a funeral company
No wonder they can only build tomb/casket like buildings
@lucid junco

If you add ?XxY to the end of the private link it should work
?13944x5830
You can also define zoom, but it defaults to 7 which i think works well
XxYxZ
Uh oh
You reminded him of C###s###d# Mall
Don't you dare remind me of T##c###n P###a tho
It does
Now all thats left is to make the same thing with https://b42map.com/
Sick, thats one step closer to POIs
That's just a matter of copying the file over, but it needs much more testing
@lucid junco does copying being a link make it harder for you?
Are you sure

Happy new year Wiki editors. What a year it has been
Happy new year! Thank you everyone for a great year on the wiki. Easily the most productive year in its history.
No matter how minor your edits, it's all helped get us here 🎉
You've been working hard that's for sure!
Oooh so you link wiki pages to the map ?
Right now the coordinates template still links to the original map. At the very least this should help people charge locations in B42, and get location coordinates for editors. It would need some more testing and discussion if we were to change the template to it
Honestly dont feel that new year cheer at all rn
Still, happy new year to those that do
Haha don't worry I'm just working, no change for me except maybe a little more busy. But it's cool to look back on the past 12 months and see the difference on the wiki
You know what really pz lacks?
not funeral homes im guessing
There isnt even a single arcade throughout the whole county
hmm, i know ive seen arcade machines but not any dedicated arcades.
Its weird that there are no dedicated penny arcades in the game
Let's be honest, we'd all end up just clearing them out and playing them all all day hah!
Electrical XP heaven
Wanted to say Happy New Year too! Seems that I missed your timezone by a couple of hours, we european still have a few hours left of 2024 😄
funny how I just woke up and some people on the planet are already in 2025
Feel free to! Time zones got lucky for us
Its 2025 at 8+ timezones rn
man, antlers are so freaking confusing... you need them to make a knapping tool, but the code insinuates that you get antlers from a decorative wall item. i even tried killing a stag and getting the antlers that way but it didn't work. >_> hopefully that's not intended
what horrendous borders these time zones have
when will the devs patch them and actually draw them evenly?
New patch just dropped
Kazakhstan is now entirely +5 timezone
We were probably playing too good so devs decided to give us permanent natural clock offset debuff
we're still 20 mins from patch 20.25 here
but happy New Year in advance too, was indeed a ride!
this isn't fair, why are they regionlocking the patch?
must be the evil corporation that bought the Earth studio a while back
At least they're not like the Mars studio and take nearly twice as long to release an update
2025 here
love this map lol, makes me chuckle
Not shown: UTC +8 3/4
Here's a better one
Daylight saving makes things really weird here
isn’t it already weird
like people die from it
supposedly
Nah it's pretty normal
PRC (all of it is +8)
+14 timezone existing somehow
Happy new year! What a busy year it has been you you guys 🎉
It has been wonderful we are so grateful!
I didn't expect to find you at theindiestone.com xD
Ngl they really need to update traits & occupations further (https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/76931-42-further-trait-and-occupation-balancing-new-additions/)
Honestly, you managed to capture exactly what I meant and what I wanted. I want to be creative, man, roleplay!
I find the 41 traits system exhausting because of the lack of variety, its why I am a big fan of SOTO mod (which the author still hasn't update lol)
I also want to see some more interesting occupations that don't necessarily have to do with blue collar manual labor, maybe add a bit white or pink-collar jobs to spice things up! xD
Possible Rebalancing of Existing Traits and Occupations So far, I get that The Indie Stone wants to rebalance the traits and occupations. However, this "rebalancing" was mostly utterly nerfing "free points" traits to the ground and almost nothing else. I think a little more thought should be put ...
Could it be 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔
item list template may need some work 😩
@proud cobalt do you think we should modify the bot text for foods?
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Salami&curid=19139&diff=759621&oldid=733843
Ehh, i can see both ways. Would only effect new food articles, which are unlikely at this point
"Oh no it's just temporary"
They say to me x3 hehe, I'm getting you are havin fun tho!
Gotta give the people what they want
Very true, the work is never over
No more shitty/Misleading poi?
Just a whole round of new ones 🙂
Guess they will be server admin sided?
Sorta, you can add them if you go to the private domain/debug.html but only while i have hte back end running. But please dont at least right now 😆
@lucid junco Where are all the bunkers, i've got the march ridge one
Military research facility one is probably also a part of the same building... so Jamieton's is the only one left
Ty
(Holy shit was I a bit panicked when I thought that I had shared the private map link)
There is also a Bruhndenburg (temporary) bunker https://b42map.com?1948x6141
There is also Ekrons part bunker part teaching facility in the basement https://b42map.com?742x9826
Hm..
Dunno what youre talking about 😉
I'd coming along nicely !
Yeah.. that quite an unusual farm
But Ive heard that the pigs in the barn are quite happy
Man performance in Louisville is not great
On the map or in game?
Both
Hmm..
My pc cannot handle lv even without zeds lmao
I will add a hide poi button
And map cant handle the poi with those 5 second loading times
Doubt we can do much on our side without the Devs pushing some polish but it's the first builds so kinda expected
The map though is interesting considering it's pre rendered
That was also the case in b41
https://b42map.com?8346x11609
Another temporary shelter under rosewood school
is it really that surprising there's shelters in these schools? i thought kentucky has tornadoes
Remove POI button added
I bet you had ideas already; like cutting the name with … and showing if after, or letting editors pipe the name to show (in this cake just "Cooking I" for example
I'll have to remind myself how it functions, but both of those should work
I believe you imported existing POIs from the b41 map, right?
Would it be possible (maybe in the future) to import POIs from the wiki somewhow? I believe our lists and names are more maintained; would be nice to have these finally aligned 👀
The issue is, we dont need a POI for every location. If you scroll around LV for a minute you'll quickly figure out a couple reasons why
But i have some cool ideas for POIs, which would involve renaming them back to their shop names
I would probably scrape the wiki infoboxes for that
yeah 😄 Would need a system to update both I guess, or maybe just a script to scrap the data from the wiki and update the ones that are on the map I guess?
Also, something for the future that would be nice, would be to link POIs on the map to the actual wiki pages
Maybe i could have a link with a query to a POI id? it would be something like b42map.com?poi=XYZ and would find that poi's coordinates and pan to it. That sounds very possible
It's just that the IDs arent public yet, i dont have any concerns with them being public, its just aesthetics
Man, I could handle Louisville downtown back in Build 41, hell I shot up the Louisville PD and my game did not freeze, stutter, or suffer frame drops in any way.
But now, Topcrown has doubled in height, and Bateman has quadrupled
I think the bigger concern is the other way around. We're fine with linking to the map, but linking to the wiki from the map would be ideal. Would be fine managing on the back-end.
For the POI id, could also just use the coordinates to match it to an id?
Oh i read @languid kayak message wrong. That would be possible, just a manual process i think, as the coordinates wont align.
Just because the placement has been manual
I think what we were thinking previously was having the POI clickable, which leaves the container open, so you can click a link in it.
That'd be nice, yeah
Yeah i just mean adding the links themselves would be a manual process
Ah, true
Well if you need anymore power you know there's spare in the box for whatever ideas you cook up, so don't worry about somehow using it all :p
Thanks 😄
So glad I went with the raided 4tb hard drives over the raided 500gb SSD xD
Finally a use for all that storage
No kidding!
Most I'd use it for is general small projects. Game servers. And the extra back up of small things I have
oh it's you hosting the map right now? Kudos to that if so 🙂
Also out of curiosity, what fs/raid is it?
Yeah that's the server hoster 😄
https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-gb/bare-metal/rise/rise-1/
Just the basic one, but I like the flexibility it gives. I believe it's on 0 so mirrored on both. So if we lose a drive we won't lose the data, and kudos to OVH for the 15 years I've used them they've never let me down
I remember that that was not a good day
Maybe had a bomb in it
Servers/datacenters for some reason are prone to have a bomb in it for some reason
neat cable management 👌
@proud cobalt is there any way to get the x/y coordinates of the b42map.com? Like the Irvington one exactly?
but yeah, clickable POI would be ideal 😄
What do you mean?
I wanted to find the exact x/y coord you placed the blue Irvington for example, to update on wiki, I seem not be able to do that? Placing a POI placed it near it 🙂
Not currently on the front end. You can find it in the json file. All the new ones are at the end
Oh all the locations are at the top though
Thanks! BTW, the previously guessed coords were quite off, but not that much 😄 https://b42map.com/?2297x13817
ah, seems that refs broke on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Irvington the same way the ones on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Brandenburg did.
Although, with the towns released and name confirmed, do we keep the old images in the gallery or removing them? Can be kept somewhere as an archive, as I found the guessing game to be really instering, especially to compare to what we actually had, but they take some space in the gallery being more of a trivia now 🤔
No need to keep them, was only an accident that they existed anyway
🤔
@languid kayak Ive noticed that you had renamed Fire Department and Police Department to Fire station nd Police station on the Brandenburg page
Id like to discuss it now since opportunity came up
Both terms are used in game for police (Eg. Muldraugh Police Department and Louisville Police Department and Detention Services) and fire departments(they are called in game fire departments)
From my personal understanding Departments are the main building, so if there is only one building in town/area it is considered as department

I followed what we had ib Rosewood page, but was thibking about it too
I think there was some meaning behind this but I'd have to take a look
on mobile I'm always drunk 😄
is the community projects page regularly updated
In what sense
will take a lookwhen I'm back home too
The community page or the projet page
up to date with the actual current state
Which project
well... both?
all projects and individual states of each project
they try to be, yeah. Depends on the leader and sometimew admins/users, so it varies
the xommunity portal should be, but somw pwrts of itare manually updated
Translations falls behind, modding is still being brought up to date by SirDoggy. Otherwise yes for the most part
Community portal doesnt need updating often
Are b42map.com servers down?
went up in flames
Not for me
Or had my interned provider randomly banned another website
I'll check back in half a year, maybe there will be some interesting project
Like what?
Lmao they dont change often
well often is a time period and we don't know at what point of it we are on
the one one we didn't make was item revamp from tasks, newest one is history
not sure but it's been a little laggy for me, has had some issues loading
(the map, that is)
most efforts are in generql b42 updateproject
On PC?
Probably due to POI
correct, yeah. and i did think it was POIs but after a few refreshes it seems to be okay
You can turn off POIs in the sidebar, let me know if it helps
and i gotta say, man some of these houses are swanky. the gated community homes are insane. they have a personal computer in there
i didnt even realize you could spawn in the gated community, though that could be a difference from b41
(in muldragh. because i cant be specific when im talking apparently)
You cant technically
We just got 2 new projects after a few were closed, from 2018
Currently map takes 30s or so to load in
Page just freezes
Inputs only start working after it unfreezes
So you cant turn poi off prematurely
Should note that its only for initial load
i think i was just trying to interact with the map before it fully loaded
As always, push to prod, then go to bed. Search feature is live 😄
Do we just link all individual annotated maps on the main Annotated Map page? Did a first pass on the Brandenburg ones.
I believe so, yeah. Looks like it hasn't been updated to b42 yet, so feel free to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Annotated_Map
@serene sage
aight, i'll look at that too
You love to live by the fire huh xD
yeah, just link them to the specific header in the article to the list
👍 done. We need to update all map images tho
yeah, I’d say they need to be updated
they got quite a lot smaller, and i think some things have been cut out
interesting, haven’t found any yet so I’ve no clue about that
also thanks for taking up the work, I had to do this work a few months ago and it mentally broke me
^^ jeah, i feel you.
I noticed a few POI markers that arent on the B42 maps anymore due to how small they got.
Watched that video now; noticed they have the https://minecraft.wiki/w/Minecraft_Wiki:History in case want to take some inspiration from it. Pinging @lucid junco just in case too
Actually, it should be fire department and link here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fire_department so the Rosewood page was wrong lol
my bad then
Any reason why won't we have the other ones simply as Brandenburg Fire Department instead of Fire Department?
Because its in brandenburg
yeah, but why not just plain link to Brandenburg Fire Department directly?
so no reason to write it twice
No need to rename it to "Fire Deparment" to show instead IMO
especially as clicking it might be confusing without looking at link for some
Ooh
I see what you mean
Should have provided a screenshot
Hm
I just really dont like have businesses with town in their titles to avoid tautology
btw @proud cobalt I think there might be an issue with caching for build 42 map if the links are in format of ?XxY instead of #XxY if the map ever goes to TIS/current map hosting, as ? is ignored by caching? I think that's why we changed coords to # in the template (map.projectzomboid.com supports both)
But in this case, yeah, we can just Brandenburg Fire Department
(Though technically its Brandenburg Fire)
Brandenburg Fire it is then
btw @lucid junco I think the coords are wrong? https://b42map.com/?2580x7850
It's actually closer to 2070x6279
They are all wrong
Its not coords, but the grid
Ive used grid, since coords were not there yet
makes sense, any plans on replacing them soon-ish or shall we nuke them? I think replacing may be easier; may just slap improve till then
seems the wrong coords were copied to at least https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Church_of_the_Holy_Redemeer though 😄
Soon-ish in valve time
TIS time*
I am not going to lie, my tired brain read that as the "Church of the holy RENDER"
"Oh hey is that where we rendered the map?"
.. I swear xD
church of the holy reindeer
(I actually had to fix the name btw :P)
it was Re-de-meer instead of re-dee-mer
Should be a competition, who can rename things to the silliest names but close to the orignals x3
@tulip kiln worth adding on Easter eggs? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Louisville_Bruiser&curid=28251&diff=752747&oldid=737787
Yeah seems like it'd be worth
added Paris in the Rain, but where would the LV slugger go?
Miscellaneous I guess
done then, thanks 😄
@flint vapor there's nothing to salve from Lua Functions rights? Last meaningful version was https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Lua_Functions&oldid=94913 by Neznajka – if so I'll delete it unless someone opposed to
Same with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mod_structure
The last change was not so far ago though with this: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Mod_structure&diff=626245&oldid=351481
Nop, these are already explained elsewhere or will be explained further in planned wiki pages
They won't be lost knowledge if these get deleted
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Campfire&curid=3085&diff=753031&oldid=649459 is it enough to warrant bumping page to 42.0.2?
makes sense, might not straight up delete them though, as it seems they are linked in other places, you can scout ahead and update what you can if you want, if not I'll get to it later https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Mod_structure https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Lua_Functions
I guess there's no 1:1 alternative for mod structure? If so, I'll just remove the link from pzwiki:news I guess
Folders structure
I guess the Lua (language) page doesn't even explain functions, I'll possibly have to go and update that a bit
Tho we agreed in the modding community that the job of the wiki isn't to explain lua, as it's a generic programming language and as such Lua (language) won't have much more than what is in it rn
Lua (API) however is to explain the specifics of PZ Lua
seems to be most similar yeah, not sure if I won't just remove the link in the news as Jab didn't contribute for it mentioned by my news in the news
It probably doesn't matter anyway
best to link to wikipedia (or any other relevant page) when applicable, yeah
I did the same for most copied-over mediawiki guides, though a little basics stay
Linked to the manual https://www.lua.org/manual/5.1/
seems that https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Muldraugh&curid=3362&diff=753033&oldid=652563 is the same story, I guess these should be partially reverted then?
Also the noinclude is for the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Businesses – right now the Muldraugh is included fully in there 😄
(fixed it now)
Yeah I saw that too. I didn't know about it before but surprisingly similar format to ours
To be honest with you, the caching doesnt work anyway 😆 It refuses to cache from the start
Btw coords are just grid coords * 8
No / in coord links just ?
Long strings will now be truncated. The name can already be modified with name.
I also reduced the font size a bit, so we can have 3 lines without overlapping the icon
hey friends, i just updated some info on the military backpack, about how it can hold sleeping bags, and i'm gonna go and edit the wiki for the sleeping bags themselves, just a quick thing so others can find out how to use it
Thank you. That'll be really helpful 🙂

just tested, large backpacks in B42 can also hold sleeping bags, but it seems there's things happening over on the large backpack site
i'll hold off for now
Do you know the item id for that large backpack?
There's been some renaming in b42
it's all of these guys
i remembered that the B41 large backpack was a survivor bag, but all of them are labelled as military backpack
Ah, yeah, they used to be called "Large Backpack" (no camo) and "Military Backpack" (camo)
Feel free to. It's the page for these 2 IDs
The page will get moved along with everything on it
alrighty
WAIT A MINUTE
I just thought to check the hiking bags
sure enough, they have the sleepign bag slot
gonna add that info there right away
okay
I've added the slots provided for backpacks on the clothing article https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Clothing#Back be patient for it to load, it's a bit slow
Doesnt matter
Update the page and change the page version
o7
both gone now, I assumed for Lua Functions the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Lua_(language) and https://www.lua.org/manual/5.1/ are the replacements. It had some PZ functions in examples, but other than that seems the functions are covered in that.
And yeah, I also wonder how the generic lua guide, instead of the pz-oriented one should be, though I have to say, I didn't read any of the modding pages fully, sorry 😄
plus I'm not sure what https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Lua_(API) should cover
The PZ lua
Ok i made an article for all the crops and added a little table directly from the files themselves
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Build_42_Update#Crops
PZ uses Kahlua, an interface of Lua - Java, but it's special so it's not even pure Kahlua
In this page I'll explain:
- how PZ Lua works and how it's used
- Javadoc and how to read/use it
- Specifics of the Lua PZ
- Lua objects sumarized, linking to the page of the same name
Lua API (Javadocs)
Looks great. Even added all the tile sprites
It SHOULD only be mature, seeding, dead. But the file is... well. Its pz code
Some crops can also have the product as the seed. Not sure if you mentioned that
That should be in the products, but possibly not
That table is much better than using the recipe template too
I was going to make a new template, i dont think its worth the effort
I think the table is fine
Just broke 100k unique visitors on B42map
Nop, bcs it's not about the javadoc only
Debated it with the modding Discord already to use proper naming, trust me ;)
There multiple fields of modding, and utilizing the Lua API is one of the biggest one
The page will be basically a full guide about an entire field of modding
yeah, that's more fitting. The general editing guidelines aren't hurting, but better to direct to official manuals like you did. Unless something pz-specific is included, we're worse to keep up that other official documentation or learning sources online
That's neat. We will have to review skills, traits and various game mechanics, it's something I've been eyeing to do, but probably won't do before the monthly summary 😄
Can have the hot peppers plants now 😄 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Habanero_(crop)
Ive already updated them from grid coords
neat, then it's mostly just adding the Coorinates template then
Pretty much
Does it now redirect to the b42 map?
@digital helm @languid kayak Do we want to change it? ^
I don't mind
Wait theres something wrong with the coordinates 🤔
In what way wrong?
The numbers are just purely wrong, i swear it wasnt like that this morning
was thinking about it too, yeah, unless you want to talk with blindcoder to host the b42 map on the map.projectzomboid.com
mayeb best to wait a little then 😄 Or maybe hack the Coordinates template to show both for a time being?
as in a globe icon for the old map and the map icon for the new map? pinging @digital helm for opinion too
I'm looking to fix it now, no idea what's happened
Wait... It's only wrong on my laptop 🤔
Ok link coords work no matter what, its just the mouse coordinates that are wrong on my laptop
Ok, if query is given it links to pzmap, if not links to b42map
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Coordinates&diff=761211&oldid=663961
Oh the templates dont even use this
That quickly?!
Updated templates
Less than a week
And the new update hasn't even really hit it's stride yet
I think we just pick one and go with it tbh
I finally got around to tabling all of the Build 42 Food Items (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1u3N3co251BatD3zQjpAAca_e0GiCBkqfhC-968YfkV8/edit?usp=sharing), I've put it up into google sheets for transparency, but wanted to ask how you'd like me to handle editing the wiki and adding in new items specifically for 42? Do we have a structure in mind?
The structure would be the existing structure https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Food New items would need to be added, and existing item's values updated. Is that what you mean?
Yeah basically, I figured it would look exactly the same - I was just wondering if it'd be a new page for 42, or a tag somewhere on the item saying it's for 42?
There's a tag at the top of page saying what version it has been updated to. That'd need to be changed to 42.0.2
->
Ah! Is there an area I can draft this and review the formatting before updating it on the offical pages? This is my first time editing a wiki
amazing, thank you 😊
well, put my name down for updating food, I'm onto it now
that will break the oldids we keep for 41.78.16 though 😩
it's not yet b41 level, but the moment mp drops, it surely beets it by the looks of it
I was actually thinking if they ever did drop MP in a reasonable time, opening a vanilla server to which we can all explore in together would help the wiki processing side a bit. Allow collaboration and such.
And the box wouldn't have issues handling a ton of players
Yeah, I found it's the most confusing part with people tryong to add header to serve both cases. WE generally decided to go the way to boldly update everything to unstable and link the last revision prior to December 17 for the last 41.78.16 version that was available (these aren't editable).
I will probably try to make it clearer, so people won't be confused. I think @proud cobalt did the FAQ on that too, that should be pinned. Maybe should make it clear in the site notification @digital helm?
I also want to add some short message to the page version how users could access old images for locations should anyone need them (these are still available on the image page), sadly no real easy way to show them, but I think the interest in b41 stable on wiki is less than b42 stable anyway, so not that a huge deal keeping old page versions ideal
Actually /sandbox can be used to any page, not sure what's prefered way? (it is for templates and main page, sincew e link to it)
yes, was thinking about it for a long while. I'll surely be up there to play properly with you guys 🙂
I think that we can manage to even self-host one, if needs be
I think it's best to avoid using it in the main namespace, unless it's for something collaborative
Oh I wouldn't worry about that, I assure you the dedi box has the space x3
Everything is setup so Cal could drop one on right now without needing any extra permissions or set-up it'd take five minutes at most :p
That would be awesome 🙂 I really wonder how long mp could take; hopefully not that long as b41 but I know that mp might have bigger problems than sp, so releaseing b42 unstesting single player early is more than understanble.
That's my hope is that the MP side doesn't really need that much work, because it would absolutely speed up bug finding, feature suggestions and gameplay balance passing if people can work on things together
yup, guess we'll see not earlier than after 6th July as TIS are on their deserve break, or maybe even after thursdoid which I assume are still monthly so that'd be 30th January
Yush, you can't rush these things after all, let's see what they say when they get back. Am sure they'll have new ideas now too :3
How?
It would just link to the location on the new map? I dont think we need to be too concerned about that
well, some buildings differ or don't exist at the old map, but maybe we don't have to worry that much? 🤔 Similar how images are different
(though I know sharp I'm the guy who likes to compare stuff, and so is @lucid junco so having links to both for a while would be nice for us? Though OTOH we can just replace them manually :P)
Also not sure how many folks will actually click the oldid link, the version notice is barely read sadly 😛
oldid will go at some point anyway, lets just make decisions with B42 in mind
confusing for a moment, but it all makes sense now, I hadn't used the wiki prior to 41 so I wasn't sure what the regular process was. makes total sense though, I'll write it up in sandbox first and go from there 😊
Hello there, contributors !
Hello
Alright, any tips to quickly find pages that needs editing ? For now I'm just clicking on latest created ones and changing things as I pass.
I guess there are useful stuff in the pinned discord threads
And also in wiki tasks page
Try here, this is our localised Build 42 project
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Build_42_Update
Why does West Point sux in soccer
Its my favorite town 😭
@proud cobalt auto-generated pages that has any new change will be automatically removed from auto-generated pages ?
Or by manually removing notice I guess ?
The auto-generated tag
Once the information has been verified, and the usage has been added, the autogenerated tag should be removed manually
Locations project
Is there any way to edit multiple wiki pages at once ?
For example, every pages in Crops tab, vegetables tab,
I would like to add Farming basic explanations in each crops page
Not other than opening each one in a new tab
Alright, thanks 🙂
is this a normal variant in b41 or is this new...
New
i saw it, read it, and had to double take. what.
New one
I prefer my cereal box box van
Where is the "FREE CANDY" van bro
Sorry I ate all the candy in it
now it's just free van
I mean that's much more useful in PZ xD
Inflation got to it
Best closest we have is a "3$ candy" van
NOOOOOOO
Imagine the loot table of such a van
Think I'll try and not too xD
should we update the wiki to 42? or should we be creating separate "42" pages for the 42 stuff where it differs from 41? for example, farming/agriculture have significant differences, should we assume people on 41 will no longer want access to that information and upgrade the page to 42?
I believe the current go-to is to update existing page
In a few months, B41 will be irrelevant, there's no point losing your time keeping B41 informations, tho for historic reasons
Move on to the next version
That's at least what I'm doing with the Modding wiki rn, I'm not going to explain B41 modding aspects which no one will give a shit about in a few months
Also there's more of a need for informations about changes in modding in B42 than how to mod for B41
And some of these are still relevant for B41 anyway
Once you set a version of the page to 42.0.2 there will be a notice that it's a new info and may not apply to b41
It will also show a button to change back to b41 version of the page
A fornication van?! 😱
some of the game devs kinda exist in the game's lore as jockeys
So how exactly would it be possible to automate the modification of these pages ?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Lua_Events

Me if i were on a TV broadcast
that, or possibly it's full of clothes with real pockets
(couldnt even tell what was in the back because it was locked and backed up too close to the fence. so, maybe)
what do we call these people in the background of this newscast celebrating a college football win?
bystander? fan? background?
They are all fans
Crowd
Wdym
they threw furniture out some windows and burned random stuff
Seems like an average football fan
erm, acktually we're talking about american football, which is different from this football ☝️ 🤓
I regret sending this message
it's now forever in history
Feels like you havent watched a documentary/match of football in er life
*soccer
we call it football here in russia 🙂
verdict: project zomboid takes place in russia
ah yes good ol' soccer-vs-football
we call it ГОООООООООЛ
Lmao americans couldnt pick less picky name for good football so they called it "sucker"
good football 😭
The iron rod incident
Probably not really the best way to suggest this - but is it possible to make the chart / sheet for the melee weapon stats a bit wider somehow, so you don't need to scroll horizontally to use it? Major usability issue IMO.
months later, the stabber would contract the Knox Infection.ᵛᵉʳⁱᶠʸ
Hey folks,
I wanna try to help on the b42 update, mostly with locations since I don't need to open the game and can use the online map to find stuff (while I'm at work, 🤫 ). Question: is there a channel/place to discuss specifics of locations, so before I update/change/mess around I can get some ideas. Or are we just using this channel here for it? Sorry if that was asked and replied already multiple times 😬
everything for the wiki is pretty much just here in this one channel
Given that, let me start with something simple: Scrapyards are a new thing AFAIK. Should we create a single scrapyard page with all those locations? Should we create one per location? Is Scrapyard a type of business or do we have a better definition?
The one on Irvington has even a name for it "Stuart & Log" ("scrap n' repair beyond compare")
Never looked at it so would like to get a pic
But there were at least two scrapyards before, one in Riverside and another at Valley station called Junk baron
Now there is a third one in muldraugh
This is the one in Irvington. There is also another one in Echo Creek (kind of)
Given that they have different names (junk baron), is that an indication that is better to classify they as a type=scrapyard on a businnes name page? Or does the community avoid pages for places like that, preferring a single, generic, page with all those locations? (and then maybe mentioning the business name)
BTW, didn't find the one in Muldraugh, but can see the mention of it in the spawning map 😕 nvm, found it 🤦♂️
Regarding fishing near the shore in b42 (42.0.2): I've been looking at the LUA from b42 and following some of SleightOfHands' findings, here's what I can see:
- Whether you're near the shore or not is determined by whether there is a non-water cell within 7 cells of the location of the fishing bobber
- Fishing near the shore doubles the time needed to attract fish
- Fishing near the shore halves the chances of catching medium and large fish, adding that chance to small fish instead (so at fishing level 5, normal is 40% small, 40% medium and 20% big, but near the shore is going to be 70% small, 20% medium and 10% big)
Code references:
- Checking if fishing near shore: media\lua\shared\Fishing\FishingUtils.lua lines 74-85
- Doubling attract time for fishing near shore: media\lua\shared\Fishing\Bobber.lua lines 135-137 (note also the next three lines, tripling the time to attract when bobber distance to player is less than 3 cells)
- Halving chances of medium and big fish, adding those chances to small fish instead: media\lua\shared\Fishing\FishingUtils.lua lines 109-113 (note also lines 87-99 for probabilities of each fish size based on your skill level).
Takeaway: When fishing make sure you cast your line at least 8 cells from any land and you'll catch fish faster and have twice the chance to catch medium and big fish compared to shore fishing.
Might be nice to link that somewhere on the Wiki
How can I affect translation in an animation?
Wdym ?
There's no info on how to do it on another software
It's either a bone or an object
Simply do like other bones and objects, move it and keyframe it
its animation data
There might be some non-linear movement however, you'd have to change it
If I animate the rig I KNOW that it would reset back to its original pos, thats why Im trying to edit the translation data, however I do not know if the problem lies in its position relative to the rig or if its local coordinates
Hmm, problems
These refer to items in the game
But these are the names of the java classes for each InventoryItem
So technical stuff, completely different
How do we handle that ?
Actually I see AlarmClock is a redirect to Alarm_Clock
Same for KeyRing redirecting to Key_Ring
Should we rename both pages to like for items Clothing (item) and me Clothing (Java object) ?
Or some shit like that ?
My 2c: subcategorizations like that is always usefull from the perspective of searching it. For new players, they can be searching for Clothing as verb instead of the noun, so making the page as Clothing (items) make it pretty specific. I faced a similar situation with Capentry as a skill or as a recipe category
So I didn't get it, should we name it with " (item)" ?
I think so. At least for me it would make a lot of sense to find a "Clothing (Item)" and a "Clothing (JavaObject)" when searching , so I immediately know with one I am looking for. But take my words with a little bit of salt, I'm still new here 😄
and just wait until you need to make a page on ClothingItem (Java Object)
lol
Can't wait for a wiki page about RandomizedBuildingBase
If we have conflicts like that we've been prioritising the item as the normal name and the other one with the descriptor (Java object). Then we can use About to link them. If there's more than 2, it's usually best to have a disambig page. So redirect the normal page to (disambiguation) and list the pages there and some basic info.
For alarm clock and key ring, just change the redirect to your article. Then use About
But the article links to the redirect
The page NEEDS to be called KeyRing
Also idk what (disambiguation) is
replace the redirect with your article https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=AlarmClock&action=edit it was only created because of the item's id, so there's no loss
👌
Here's an example of a disambig page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/T-shirt_-_Music_(disambiguation)
The normal name redirects to it https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=T-shirt_-_Music&redirect=no
How do I access the edit of a page which has a redirect ? Do I need to access it from a direct edit link ?
Nvm found it
You can also add ?redirect=no to the url
I'm always learning new things on this wiki 😄
You can change the page width in the preferences cog wheel on the bottom left. Unfortunately a specific page width has become the standard for websites as it increases readability, which isn't great for data tables like this.
I wasn’t aware it was adjustable, thanks a lot 🙂
Not sure if anyone got back to you. Click the cog wheel and change your view window to wide/full
Oh Vail beat me too it by 100 messages
Items take priority so don't get descriptors. Should be 'Clothing' and 'Clothing (java object)' remember lower case for descriptors
It's treated like sentence case, so Java should retain its capitalisation, since it's a proper noun
I made a table regarding the new recipes of Knapping
But i had to do it manually
I saw that official tables with icons etc reference something inside the wiki
Does that specific recipe layout exist for the new items or can i make it?
Recipes are currently stored in recipe list but its B41 not updated yet
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Recipe_list
Oh i see
When they are ported it will be much easier then
Is it possible to add recipes or do the devs do that?
Everything on the wiki is done by volunteers
Oh i see
I will try to change the table tomorrow
Also, there are no american football fields in the game
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Neil's_Farm
I tried to describe the place as a nice and usefull place to keep a base, but need to put the juice part under a spoiler area. Currently is a open section 😬 . Also, didn't have the chance to visit it myself, so any extra info and picture is appreciated
anyone happen to know more about the new moodles?
or the conditions under which they appear, to specify.
have you even played b42 😅
Of course not :)
Yeah apparently b42 is not main branch yet
God I love when they turn Steam into Git
IIRC Robert Johnson is being interviewed too
(also welcome on wiki, and yeah, we do all the chats here basically :P)
Fellas
how do i list an alternate tool in the current crafting table format
Also, how do i list knapping properly as a skill and is there a column to add notes?
Also, can how can i omit certain properties?
I want to list Surface as a workstation but i can't,it required an image and they are all huge
name them like Key (Lua function) or whatever it is in parantheses. If there's many, we'll do disambiguation, else it's about to point to the another one (EDIT: nvm, I see it was settled already :P)
does the current wiki format not support alternate tools?
i get this from the following code
I think it should? But there were some changes in how recipes look now during b41 and they still weren't really updateded to b42, especially as we don't know how much the recipes will get adjusted anymore
There is no property that supports the "or" clause of tools
I tried adding more but it says "and"
These are the only hurdles i encountered but because it does not support the format of b42 recipes,i will add my own table whenever i add recipes
Changing them is another issue but it should be easy once they are already documented
The wiki coordinates now points to the b42map.com, but looks like the coordinates are off. I mean, a get the x and y via the lock ooords button, but then the wiki point to a different place. Looks like the position change depends on the zoom level as well. Is that a know issue? Is it safe to continue collecting coordinates?
It happens at least with the following location: 2360x16736. It suppose to be the Irvington scrapyard, but it points to outside of the map 😕
Interesting this happens with locations listed on the Brandeburg page, but not with locations on River Side. Is that because brandeburg and Irvington are in a new area?
It's supposed to, but it doesn't seem to work as intended. It just shows the server time (UTC)
Something like this is supposed to work
You can use a hacky solution like
Which just adds 11 hours to the server time (my time). But this isn't great for things like daylight savings.
Here's the documentation for it, if you want to play around with it https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:ParserFunctions##time
You should be able to use alternate tools with alt_tool1_1, alt_tool1_2 (up to 8). Only the first tool supports this. If it's a tag, it should use alt_tool_tag1_1 instead. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Item_tags
Not sure what you mean by omit certain properties. Just don't add them, and they shouldn't show.
I'll hardcode a size for the workstation image, and add a check for Surface to only display the text, and not the image
Looks good other than the workstation issue, which I'll fix. Also, always use icons instead of models. The player will always see the icon in inventories, not the model
For alt tools we use tool tags as thats how it was done in B41. I think i said earlier the template will need to be redone as it was designed for B41
16736 is not a valid coordinate thats why it's off the map
Coordinates are only inaccurate on mobile and at extreme zoomed out levels which you shouldnt be at to get coords anyway tbh
I'm not using it on mobile, I'm using it on a desktop and get the coordinates via the lock coord button. But just scrolling out the zoom and check it I can see the coordinates being off, so it's not isolated to mobile. But I got the problem and will try to get the coordinates later when I can open the game and get it from there
Only a few books https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_5
Pat's been busy
Can't wait to do magazines, newspapers, comic books, RPG manuals, etc. 🙂
Add it to the list 😄
It only seems to get longer, never shorter
I was looking into comic books, and they have an issue number. The Impossible Steelman has 398 issues. And with spawning there's a bias towards newer issues, so I calculated the odds of finding issue #1 to be 1 in 625,000,000 😆
Thats insane
I was randomly scrolling at light speed and I swear I saw "Crime and Punishment"
you did "Crime and Punishment", by Fyodor Dostoevsky 😄 all the "Classic" ones seem to be based off of real books https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_and_Punishment
Crime and Punishment (pre-reform Russian: Преступленіе и наказаніе; post-reform Russian: Преступление и наказание, romanized: Prestupleniye i nakazaniye, IPA: [prʲɪstʊˈplʲenʲɪje‿ɪ‿nəkɐˈzanʲɪje]) is a novel by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky. It was first published in the literary journal The Russian Messenger in twelve monthly installments ...
I wouldn't notice it if I hadn't read the book beforehand 🙂
(beforehand = 1 year ago)
Scrolling again, now my eyes registered "Anna Karenina"
Which I haven't read tbh
what about updating map ?
Whats up?
can i see new buildings online?
thx very mach
and i thought doing the annotated maps is tedious lmao
Ooooh
This wasn't shown in the main page
Sometimes i wanted to only add the name of something but it required the image,i guess these two are dependent on each other
Regarding this
I tried to add a tag but it required an image
I will have to read up well on how the code on tags work
Thankfully it's all generated from a script. Still need to adapt it for the rest of the these items though 😅
Would be here til 2026 trying to add them manually
It was added after it was initially created. I must've missed adding it
The workstation was added as a preparation for b42, and the only workstation was the oven, so there was no further logic added
Ok i will keep it in mind
As Calvy said, keep in mind it'll likely be rewritten from the ground up. It's just that it's a big job, and there's so many other things we've been busy with
I see
What about using item tags?
An item tag required an image
I understand,of course
Use alt_tool_tag1_1 it doesn't need an image. It bypasses it
Awesome, this will do it for me
Thanks a lot!
or tool_tag1
Example
|spiked_plank=

It'll automatically get the tag template. So Hammer will get the Tag Hammer template and link to Hammer (tag)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hammer_(tag)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Tag_Hammer
@serene sage Since you were looking at the Book page layout #pzwiki_editing message I'm working on generating all the literature titles. Just not sure on the best way to present them, since there's a lot for some items.
I'm also going to fix the links in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list#Literature so they don't all point to "Book", and then get autogenerated with stubs, so the distributions, etc. can be auto-updated by Calvy
Here's some notes on the way the title is generated. I still need to look at Newspapers, but everything else I should get done fairly quickly. (These are based on the OnCreate property of items)
Cpt. B. Inky
oh the easter eggs 👀
"Drawing Cute Critters", by M. Siu-Chong
They're pretty much all easter eggs
or lore
"A Military For the Modern Age", by General John McGrew
I will try to understand how your example works, thanks
I have a suggestion regarding the tables
There should be a column about the property of "Need Recipe Learned"
Some knapping recipes need the recipe to be learned, but they are also auto learned upon reaching a specific level of a skill. This should be documented on the table
Also there should be a way handle the new "may degrade tools" tags etc, others will know how to do this best
That was the case with b41 too. That's what the requirements column is for. E.g. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Metalworking_(crafting)#Walls_&_fencing
The degrade tools is a new one though. I imagine something similar to the welding torch in the above example might be done
I think I suggested adding a notes section too. Since there's a lot of OnCreate functions
What about the "autolearn on" info
Basically, it's a lot more complicated than b41 😅
Yeah, that's what the "Metalworking 3" is
Some recipes are not auto learned on the requirement
example:
Also,i am having trouble including the mallet tag as an alternate tool
To be 100% honest you should wait until we have a new template probably from scratch. That's why we put a warning on the template that all recipes are B41
i get this for this
Also if i mention the stone hammer by tag,i get this:
Why does the template thing appear above?
That's what "(and)" is for
ok i see
only 1 alt_tool_tag was added. We had plans to expand it once b42 came out, since it was overcomplicating the template
Also increasing the node count 😆
Tag_HammerStone doesn't exist as a tag on the wiki. I'm unsure if it hasn't been created yet, or isn't a tag in the game
I would suggest if you really feel it necessary, writing out the recipe on the page, rather than using this template
It exists on the stone hammer:
The template right now is really confusing to me because i am trying to basically say
Use either
A stone hammer
Or
Mallet_tag
Or
Knapping tool
Yeah, so this page has been created https://pzwiki.net/wiki/HammerStone_(tag) but not the template yet https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Tag_HammerStone
The mallet_tag does not properly appear when i try to show it with alt_tool_tag
I'll have to get to that
Template and tag pages are 2 different things
There probably exists only 1 stone hammer so it's ok,i will just call it by name
Stones count as HammerStone
But i am having trouble showing
A stone hammer
Or
Mallet_tag
Like i said you should probably just write out the recipe and put it on the page, rather than trying to force the template to fit
A new template will be made in time, and this will probably be automated
But it takes time, and theres still more crafting to come
I see,ok
I thing right now it is possible to make the template work i just don't know how
How can i write out 2 tags in an or clause,i have been trying and i can't
I don't think it is. I made the template 😄
I think you will have better luck with that, less headaches
Yeah like Vail said the template isnt made yet for that tag
I have trouble remembering the different properties, sorry
That's ok, so do i. The recipes are quite a complex web of templates. We're hoping to get lua in the future to make things easier
Yeah, it's because of the id in the parameter. It's a similar thing with infoboxes. You can't have 2 parameters using id 1. They take up the same 'position' in the template
It's an overly complicated template. Every iteration has been difficult to work with
Yeah theres trade offs with each iteration
so it should be alt_tool_tag2?
technically. But it hasn't been added
So I'd stick with tables for now on the crafting pages. They should be relatively visible for readers, since it's in a prominent spot on the main page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Crafting
Oh god i forgot these existed
Suppressed that memory, i was just thinking about item pages
On the list it goes
Hahahaha speaking in riddles
noted
I think i properly documented all carving recipes on the page
alert the subreddit, they think the rarest item is the $10,000 scratch ticket which is only 1 in 80,000,000 😄
Only 1 in 80,000,000 😆
"Smile Across The Aisle", by Daniel Mahoney
Finally https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mahoney has a name!
are we positive though? could be another Mahoney
I don't think, Cal Fairweather has one book too and they are both politics
Can never be 100% sure; we also has to assume that the other books by the same-named characters are the ones we want 😄
Would be funny if there'd be two Jackie Jayes for example :p
alright, just wanted to make sure that we don't have a repeat of the incident
I think I sadly didn't get the references this time 😄
I made it up
there was never any incident
just a very healthy wiki community
fuck yeah, gaslighting
otoh there was one; The Jack Bloggs incident: https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/154wwmb/comment/jsrxqee/
seems like a very minor incident
I still have no idea where that image came from
Here's the magazines, with their date ranges https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_4
me when I get bitten
Oh well, back to old pz map loading times
5 minutes had passed and map still looks like ive forgotten my glasses
Blegh, Bleach is the weak souled meta option
Be a bourbon + sleeping pill enjoyer instead
Or better yet, jump out the 2nd floor window while holding a generator
Falling with a generator is the most chad way to suicide in Zomboid
looks fine to me
... why do I feel like they are uncomfortably bigger now
... why do I feel like they are uncomfortably bigger now
Excuse me, but is it possible that I can get logged out of my account on the backend while I'm editing a page and lose all my changes after saving?
Because I just painstakingly added information to the Knox Country page to add just some details and POIs to the new towns, and I save it and don't see it, while also noticing that I've been logged out...
sometimes it happens, for me the browser usually saves it. I'm not sure, but sometimes @restive adder can find something saved in the server.
What's your nick on the wiki?
The same as my Discord username
Though if you got logged out, then indeed it probably was indeed lost :/ You can take a look if the preview or edit history was saved in your browser however. For me I never had issue with Firefox.
Apparently, it's 1 / 8,857,805 according to https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/1hrh8yb/you_can_get_a_10000_scratch_ticket_with_a_1/
wow, even more common
it seems that the Police office in Riverside is called Maede County Police Department from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Riverside_Police_Department_Flier.png
and the one in LV is Louisville Police Headquarters according to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Flyer_LVPDSeminar.png
btw, I don't have screenshot, but on one of my playthroughs with wife I found a topped van with plonkies. A reference to Zombieland's Twinkies van
huh, in some screenshots the blur seems to be still there: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:First_baptist_chapel.png
Hmm.. I actually don't see a blur myself
More like "he said" she's a succubus
OH
it seems to be caused by webp layer on top of the jpeg?
Wait are you sure that's not just God sending the wifi data down to the church xD
idk 😄
Yeah
Idk how to get rid of it
Sometimes it stays there, no matter how much I zoom in n out
Or refresh the page
Yeah
Its in the game
yeah, just gotta keep the reference up 🙂
Look out for the plonkie man
Curious if character Id's are rarer
Since Dean's id is tied to a single zed
This revamp kinda solves the issue of "BA", "KE", "RY" and "24 hours" signs staying on the broken windows
Yeah
No building
No problem
"Fuck it, just nuke the whole place"
-Someone at TIS, maybe
Unless dean spawn could be that chance; the ID is guaranteed I think
@flint vapor is https://pzwiki.net/wiki/ISRichTextPanel supposed to be a main level page, or will be more similar ones (like Lua events)? Also, is the 41.78.16 page version by design?
Okay, I tried to make an edit on the wiki again, this time with something smaller. I added Coalfield, the wild west town to the Knox Country page (https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Country). I just figured that, if an area like Dixie Trailer Park or the abandoned town can get a section, then why not this, you know?
And it looks like it worked this time. Woo! My first wiki contribution!
If you take too long you can encounter a session loss, but you just have to click save again. If you click save and wait on citizen there is a notification that the page was saved
I'm just gonna copy to notepad before saving
Oh yeah theyve like doubled the random stories
Theres also new types of stories
RB, RBT, RVS, RZS, RDS
supposed to be a main level page, or will be more similar ones (like Lua events)?
Not sure what you mean here, it's a single page on the subject, I doubt there'll be a need for any more pages about ISRichTextPanel. It defines mostly just tags that you can use in strings to format text
It's in 41.78.16 because the list of tags are from this version, someone needs to check the lua if there are new tags or they got modified but they still exist in the game
Added more stuff to the Knox Country page. Now I was able to put in my descriptions for Brandenburg, Irvington, and Ekron! I think I might've added too many POIs, but I'm not really sure where to cut.
Now I'm working on adding all POIs to the Irvington page
Nothing like a 200 line crafting recipe to set you back in the morning
Irvington's done! https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Irvington
good shit dude
Oh ye someone mentioned this on the subreddit but I finally checked it out, this is probably another addition for the easter egg page, this looks quite similar to the neighbourhood in King of the Hill
like that yellow house has definitely gotta be Hank's house
How do we estimate those town population? Muldraugh page says 3566, but the 1990 Census of the real city says 1376. So, I am assuming we got that number from the game somehow, am I right? And what is the methodology, so we can do the same for the new towns
I started to map the coordinates there using the link to the online map, usually pointing to the door/entrance of each establishment
I see. I just used the coordinates from b42map.com
What are your guys though about using the logo instead of the name of business on those location tables? Nowadays almost everything has a name and a logo somehow, so it could help bring some life to those tables. In this picture, pretty sure that a bunch of those missing logos will end up being uploaded soon anyways. Of course that there is nothing to do with places like cemeteries, but even the churches are now receiving names and "logos". Wdyt?
I'm not so sure. Some logos are way more eye-catching than others, not to mention some stores on some town pages will straight up not have a logo because the entrance is facing away from the camera POV
At the very least it would still need text as images arent searchable
That, too.
Any issue splitting recipes into crafting and construction. We would have two templates. Crafting and construction. Construction would work pretty much how crafting does now, with manual recipes, due to the nature of how they work. But crafting would be parsed automatically and updated, and would have slight new look. @digital helm @languid kayak and others
Boot up the game at 1x pop and look at the population estimate in the zeds population window
A huge nay from me tbh
The "Normal" population now is 0.65x
The signs/logos are all over in quality so putting them in the same table together looks horrible
And almost all new business logos wont be uploaded in good quality untill end of January
So keeping it, reverting, or…?
I dont think its worth reverting
Okay then, will add it to the navbox modding then. I don't add the navbox for specific Lua events, Lua objects and Java objects, as they will probably have a separate navbox later, if needed
actually wait, it seems it's a lua object? At least that's how you classified it so I guess it should go to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Lua_object ?
unless it's by mistake?
So keeping, but not touching the rest?
Can udpate the wording in the script to this then, but not run it initially, but the next time something changes we can use this
Yeah that too, the logos are done by wiki editors (aka sharpgolden) so has to be done manually
Yeah it would only effect newly created food articles, which i dont think we're getting any time soon
Still something. Can add a low-priority bot task to update the old one, when there's nothing to do, if we agree on the reword.
Actually, ideally if the text is the same on all the pages, maybe it could be a part of a template? It's just there's no template to "stitch" it into, but we have templates that do nothing other than adding a text, already, see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Magazine_reload
That way the text won't be uneven on pages evertime someone does a minor edit, and won't cause the editor on focus on it.
It's just placeholder text i dont think it needs a template
I dont really think it should all be the same on every page either
Maybe indeed, I'll probably be going through food at one day anyway, so I'll see there. Leaving it as is then
You are all working hard. Make sure you drink plenty and eat!
@proud cobalt @digital helm were the tables for crops autogenerated or not? Seems fixing these links could technically be botted I guess? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Bell_Pepper_(crop)&diff=prev&oldid=761239
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Whistle#Usage – that seems like a nice feature, just wish the whistle wouldn't have to be equipped as primary/secondary but could be worn too (which IIRC is the case in Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead), even with both hands occupied, one could whistle with the head movement alone (kinda point of the rescue whistles when drowning)
Hand done 😄
Semi
I'm with Calvy on this. No need to change it. The only added thing is the fridge or freezer part
