Google Ngrams: sport vehicle, sports vehicle, 1800-2022
even more with car π https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=sport+car%2Csports+car&year_start=1800&year_end=2022&corpus=en&smoothing=3
Google Ngrams: sport car, sports car, 1800-2022
I think sports cars in this game are underrated π
I believe the exotic ones, are just seen as meme vehicles, and to many, the sports sedans just exist
i'm curious, what do you find good about them? i'm partial to them myself but i don't really think they're good necessarily
I'm a Franklin All-Terrain enjoyer, I would also like to know your reasoning for sports cars being underrated
They're more or less, great daily drivers. Sometimes you just want to run an errand, or just go driving around and killing zombies. Cargo capacity isn't the sole determining factor of how good a vehicle is...
And of course, any vehicle goes good when coupled with a trailer
I'm a no vanilla car will ever beat my car mods kinda player
Driving around semi trailers with 1500 capacity
Damn you mod vehicles!
200 capacity in a step van as Organized is already luxurious!!!
to me the mobility is really fun but the cargo space stops them from being genuinely useful for most uses, i'm not often traveling without the intention of looting and even just bringing some supplies with me makes a relatively massive dent in that
the scarcity of parts is also quite limiting
i will when i can have a pet sports car for those quick trips between bases though
For looting, sports car isn't so good yes, but its definitely enough to bring some supplies with you
I think its doable, though I don't know where to find info besides wiki news and this discord. Maybe its also worth checking tis forums ig
This whole process would have to be done manually though
And may loose info from the old tis forums that are only partially preserved
Also, I think at some point history project would also require manual work to add in sprite and model changes
Dude thanks, I've had to take a brake on editing becouse of that, I greatly aprecieted that
forums were kept online for a while, before ultimately being taken down IIRC, I think Kirrus may have backups? Not sure.
And you speaking about the old versions, right? I got into it probably way more than I needed, but I like digging up obscure things and preservations, but we already have each major version so not that bad π
Maybe I could dig something else too, if I dig deep enough, just wasn't that extremely into it
The old tis forum with an egg
Is the old forum that is currently only partially available via wayback machine
And may or may not contain some relevant info about early wiki
It would also be cool to ask old wiki admins on their whereabouts maybe? Dont know if it would be interesting for readers or if we will include them in some capacity on the history page, but hell, Im just curious about it
I'm thinking of adding links from the randomized stories pages to the outfit pages (where they are mentioned) now that Calvy has gone ahead and done them all
most outfits have both male and female variations that are in separate articles however, so I'm not sure if I should link to only one, both, or just give up on this entirely
yeah, IIRC it was available as read-only for a while
Ironically, I spoke with Vail and then folks about at least crediting prior admins somewhere
Haha i was also thinking of doing the same, i need to double check all of the stories are added to the outfit pages
both for the history sake and potentially avoiding confusion if anyone stumbles on the old posts from them
that's easy though, since each story has only one article
most outfits have two and I don't know how we could link them concisely
It can spawn both female and male versions of the <code>fireman</code> outfit.
I guess that could work
not ideal imo but i guess that's the way it is
guess I'll get going then
might as well also proofread some of the text while I'm at it
@lucid junco I noticed you marked https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Offices_(LSU_Campus) for deletion but would it also make these three to delete? They redirect to each other currently https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Offices_(LSU_Campus):
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Offices&redirect=no
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Offices_(South_Louisville)&redirect=no
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Offices_(lsu_campus)&redirect=no
The first one is generic, not sure if it should be repurposed; the south louisville one is redundant now? The name was wrong?
This one's marked for deletion, but also used: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Offices_louisville.png
I wouldn't mind making a page about the wiki itself, i dont think id take on that whole project though
I saw Ksilem adding this https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Easter_eggs&diff=621427&oldid=621419 but the Mother's Boy is also present in the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Easter_eggs#Pop-culture but sometimes it's not so easy to find since it's grouped; do we want to keep it duplicated or should I remove it?
btw, I wonder if we can at this point remove the 13 "likely" references from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Easter_eggs β I guess so? Unless Pat disagrees π
I ain't at my computer currently but I've spotted a major fuck up of mine, the painting "Satan Devouring his Son" it's actually Saturn not Satan, must've had a brain fart
well, goot to spot it afterwards π
fixed π
Wasn't expecting the Easter eggs page to get this out of control, in and out job, just a few references I figured
now the most comprehensive PZ easter egg page out there π
Ye I used to be so sad for a while that whenever you searched PZ Easter eggs, the wiki page wasn't the first result
There'd probably be a few, all I know from reading the blogs is that the lore guys are gonna have a shit ton to do.
damn forgot about the newspapers
an article for every newsprint from every publisher
So, Ive probably accidentally made it marked for deletion
What I wanted to do is remove every redirect of Offices LSU Campus, since the name was changed
Before marking, it redirected to Offices (West Central Louisville); is that correct? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Offices_(LSU_Campus)&oldid=621375
Oh, no, misunderstanding, I was marking(what seemed as) unused offices images and redirects, and probably had put delete on the wrong image
Speaking of Easter eggs, tho more seems to be from https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/w4ev3l/references_and_easter_eggs_in_project_zomboid/ about Spiffo, do we want to add it?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Spiffo_birthday.jpg referencing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wombles
and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Spiffo_DayZ.jpg referencing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oh_No!_More_Lemmings
Though maybe both should go to trivia on Spiffo page?
The Wombles are fictional pointy-nosed, furry creatures created by Elisabeth Beresford and originally appearing in a series of children's novels from 1968. They live in burrows, where they aim to help the environment by collecting and recycling rubbish in creative ways. Although Wombles supposedly live in every country in the world, Beresford's ...
Oh No! More Lemmings is an expansion pack for the puzzle video game Lemmings by DMA Design. It contains 100 single-player levels and six music tracks. The Amiga version also includes 10 two-player levels. The game requires either the install disk from the previous Lemmings, or, in a standalone version, the game manual, for use as a copy protecto...
For image, I guess I'm gonna rever the deletion mark on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Offices_louisville.png for the redirects, I'd have to do some research as like you said the names changed π
We seem to have these two:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Offices_(West_Central_Louisville)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Offices_(Central_Louisville)
Should https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Offices_(LSU_Campus) (and https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Offices_(lsu_campus)&redirect=no) redirect to any or is there a third offices?
also should https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Offices_(South_Louisville)&redirect=no redirec to something?
There are just two "Offices" building in the game (excluding named offices), right?
LSU Campus was previous location of West Central Louisville before I moved it
I thought it was close enough to LSU so I could get away with inaccurate location. But ultimately scrapped it in favor of being closer to the actual location name
So now LSU Campus(which is now a redirect) is redundant and can be deleted
Damn
can the Aiming time parameter in item infoboxes be renamed to 'Aiming speed' or something? while the game calls it that internally it's actually the opposite way around and higher values require less time to aim π it's a little misleading as is
Damn I thought this was general lmao
well, it works here, so it's fine π
I recently added background and color documentation to wiki, as well as the online ranks, handy if you want to check your rank without spamming a chat π
Well at least he won't be laughed at anymore for embed failure
Cuz, he can't embed fail now
Damn is it old
I dont think our city had at least 2g at this time
I think thats a possible reference
@languid kayak So, doing some basic research Ive been able to get some datas. The wiki website was registered in 2011, but the first mentions I can find on forums is in 2013
Old tis forums dont mention it in preserved wayback pages
And reddit has a cap of 1000 posts max
makes sense, as it was fan website first
I think there was another domain that redirected to pzwiki.net, but not sure. Either way, the domain was kept and never redirected to wiki.projectzomboid.com or something as it was already well-established I presume
I spoke yesterday with Calvy giving some details about the wiki based on what I encountered, though keep in mind I joined relatively late myself π
Older players and tis employees may know more
Oldest copy of the wiki on wbm dates 2017
and thats already in grey territory for now
There was a Twitter too, gone now: http://twitter.com/ZomboidWiki
and here's more or less how the old main page looked like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Fatheed/Sandbox (I kept that intentionally)
As far as Im aware Connall was the main admin since 2014-2018 until getting employed by tis
The old revisions should be all in the database too, just in case we want to bring something back π
Connall was wiki admin and programmer, but changed jobs, was covered in one of the thursoids
I think @digital helm can cover the admin part of the history?π
Doesnt seem to me like much was happening
The old admins can be seen in this public log btw: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:Log?type=rights&user=&page=&wpdate=&tagfilter=&wpFormIdentifier=logeventslist
Im already working in the admin part dw about that
Also I have a download of each main page change
And started on a timeline
Sorry forgot to reply, I'm a bit iffy on these ones cause I feel like it'd make more sense to just include Easter eggs that can be found in the actual game rather than promotional art from over the years?
Feels more like a Spiffo page trivia imo
Where to find more poster like that? And also newspaper maybe?
Not in-game currently, it's just sneak-peeks from the devblogs
Well, cant wait for release, need that thing in RP Server
Here's one of the newspapers that got teased since you were asking about em
Yeap, i already using that, and want more... Xd
@languid kayak @lucid junco Main page over the years
I can make that on my own, but i dont have much time
the fun part is that some parts never changes π I see from links it's from web archive, but they are nice to compare in that format, thanks!
oh right and another twitter was https://x.com/drzomboid
Founder of the Project Zomboid wiki. Not involved with development of the actual game :)
π
Why does it have canned mushroom soup as the pfp
why not π
It should be spaghetti bolognese or corned beef instead
back then they weret't even in the game π
IIRC there was just canned beans, canned soup and tinned tuna
soup was renamed in b41
tinned tuna before that, as part of my suggestions on GitHub π
Verify? What?..
carrying weight it seems (which should be called encumbrance btw), if it's correct, feel free to remove.
Why does it say it twice though
Carriying capacity reduced by 1
-1 carrying weight
Its the same thing
I verify it
From game experience, stage 2 hunger debuff your carry weight by one, yes
Everyone can verify it
Though maybe because people think that hunger decreases strength
I'm not very sure
But I don't think my damage output is affected too badly by hunger
does it decrease damage?
I thought it did but I never tested that
Thoughts on moving tile list to furniture list? Then we can leave out the generic movable items and thumpables section, as well as being more accurate. @languid kayak
Maybe one day in the future we will have a way to process thumpables
Also should we change "is a movable tile " to "is a piece of furniture"
I guess it's fine; I gues it's safe to assume that all furnitures are movables βΒ and they are displayed as furniture category when picked up
good point, I'd remove the latter one unless you guys already did so
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mod_structure
It'd be a good idea to note that multiple mods can be required using a comma-delimiter.
I assumed initially that it was semi-colon because of other configuration files in the game.
feel free to edit if you can; generally modding section is the most neglected on the wiki π©
You have no idea how dangerous it is to tell me to feel free to edit something. =)
You know I've planned to fix things up there.
But yeah it's important to know that tidbit.
Been so busy elsewhere.
Applied the edit.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mod_structure again for reference.
I also noticed that google search shows that people blindly copied the requirement line in their mods and caused concern / issue for people trying to use the mod.
That's sort of funny.
found on the moodles page
βpainkillers and itemβ
Iβd certainly like to know what this βitemβ is
Ah, whenever you are in pain, just resort to alcoholism π
Every time I'm sore from exercise, or have laceration, I just do alcoholism lol
Hello! How could I create a new language for translating the wiki?
Which language you want to add?
Catalan
You can start translating pages using /ca on them while I'll add it proper, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Wiki/ca would be a good place to start.
Do you have an account already and have you started translating anything yet?
There are sidebar stuff you may want to translate, they will show when you change your language to Catalan in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-personal-i18n (can be seen by going here too https://pzwiki.net/wiki/?uselang=ca )
For the sidebar see strings in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations#Sidebar (you can send it here, I will have to update them manually). There are also some autogenerated item pages if you want to contribute translations to @proud cobalt from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Translations
Oh, and I should probably add it to the help page already, but since the new skin we have this to translate, too:
PZwiki is the official wiki dedicated to sharing information about Project Zomboid. It covers all content relating to its gameplay, lore, and development. This is an official site of The Indie Stone, and is maintained by volunteers.<br>Want to contribute? Start on the PZwiki:Community portal. For copyright information, please see PZwiki:Copyrights.
and you may want to add translations to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:User_language too
If you're interested in helping the wiki would you be able to do a file that would let us automate the creation of the item pages?
The language should be all set btw π See https://pzwiki.net/?uselang=ca
Just to notice that after 5 month of vanish for family reason i'm back for french translation. Their is lot of new awesome design. GG guys
Btw when i translate a tag like axe i have to translate by axe/fr or hache
Sometimes the first solution automatic translate the word but sometimes not
Do you mean like the page for "item names" in the pre-42 translations?
I have an account, but I will have to learn to translate the wiki. I will start with what you told me.
Translating the page you showed me is editing and changing text like for community translations, am I right?
If the page exists and have Title, Axe/fr will automatically display as a page title, unless you want to change it (like make it lowercase) then use pipe.
You can use Axe too, if it helps, though using too much of it can eventually slow down the pages.
for pages yes, you can start with editing everything the main page by replacing English terms to your language. For sidebar, you'd have to send the translated bits.
Thks I will add the title tag
yes, the item names are pulled from pre-42 translations, but after build 42 they will be pulled from there.
one little thing I didn't tell, main page may be a bad example as it skils the pipes, but for the links that are in the name format, make sure to keep the English part first, else it will lead to wrong pages, take a look at how I changed it for the Catalonian main page π https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Project_Zomboid_Wiki%2Fca&type=revision&diff=626363&oldid=626361 (plus minor fixes)
The documentation for the template of how it works can is here if you want to: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Localized_link
Kind of similar, we have our own custom one for translating wiki pages.
All you have to do is translate the sections on the right. Anything in curly brackets {} doesn't need to be translated. Anything in square backets [[]] only translate after the pipe |
The language used needs to be as generic as possible, as it will be used for all items. In gendered languages this can be difficult. For example in Italian, the translator used Il/la {lowercase_name} Γ¨ un Oggetto in Project Zomboid.. The point of this project is the get the items onto the wiki, to encourage people to edit them in their own language. It doesn't have to be perfect.
You can also skip the lines condition_categories and "\n\n{{{{Durability weapon|{condition_lower_chance}|{condition_max}|skill={skill_type}}}}}"
"intro_template": "{lowercase_name} is an item in Project Zomboid.",
"headers": {
"Usage": "Usage",
"Condition": "Condition",
"Location": "Location",
"Code": "Code",
"See also": "See also",
"Consumable properties": "Consumable properties",
"Repairing": "Repairing",
},
"help_text": "Help PZwiki by adding information to this section.",
"translate_reason": "Translated using game translation files.",
"condition_categories": ["Weapon", "Tool / Weapon"],
"condition_text": (
"The {name} has a maximum condition of {condition_max}. Its rate of degradation is influenced by the {skill_type_lower} and maintenance skills. The chance of losing durability can be simplified to the following formula: "
"<code>1 in (35 + maintenanceMod × 2)</code>. Where \"maintenanceMod\" is calculated using the {skill_type_lower} and maintenance skills.<br>"
"\n\n{{{{Durability weapon|{condition_lower_chance}|{condition_max}|skill={skill_type}}}}}"```
The next part is easier, you just have to translate the section on the right for each template. You can skip the | #default = translation section. There is an example at the bottom.
If you need any specific help just message me.
slowly catching on recent changes btw; I assume this is correct? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Gas_Tank&curid=10720&diff=622247&oldid=502937
Any chance we have that error somewhere else if so?
Can't comment on if there's more of that. I'd like to get vehicle parts parse as they're just items in a different Infobox format. Just havnt actually gotten to it.
Currently working on getting a 'furniture' page generated the same way Vail had/has planned for items. Got a couple days off coming up so here's hoping
I'm always asking as I know the least about vehicles π Thanks
Shouldn't be hard to test manually
yeah, I just don't have the game here π
though it's about capacity and not condition I think?
I think they're linked
more condition = more capacity
100% condition = highest possible capacity
Fuel tanks are like trunks, the more they are degraded, the less they will hold
true
they're the values in the scripts
the old version was the right numbers, just didn't match the axes
Okay, since me and @proud cobalt (and Vail a little) spend (at least when it comes to me), probably way too much time digging the old PZ versions (and I will spend even more), I finally got myself to set the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_History β also fills the gap to lackluster pages about the meta things like Project Zomboid (the game), The Indie Stone, missing developer pages and old unfinished games that are referenced in the game/lore/Easter eggs (PAWS, Dr. Oids, The Forgotten Element).
The project is still round the edges and I'm not sure who shall I put as a leader just yet. Calvy's already having his hands busy pretty much elsewhere and I'm without the project technically, but as I generally like manning other people in charge, especially as I'm generally slow to catch up π
I am currently working on updating the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history too so stay tuned
mostly adding some missing versions that were not released (there were at least two) and adding more info, as well as updating links but oh well :D. See https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history#0.1.2 for the first changes
wow, even got the picture of spiffo from when he actually looked like a raccoon
I thought it would be the best fitting π
Should we add the wiki history to this also?
yeah, was going to but I got carried to doing other stuff π
let me add it
took a while, but these are added now https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Spiffo&type=revision&diff=626469&oldid=458515
As I'm cleaning the version history, what should I do with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history/no and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history/ja βΒ straight up delete? (that's how the old version histories looked like before; by deleting we'd lose just the page title and intro as the actual notes were not translated and the page was never adjusted to dark mode and have some dead links and obsolete formatting)
Actually, some 0.1.2a notes were translted to Japanese, though maybe we can just move it to the respective page?
Delete them, unreadable on citizen and its English anyway
Noregian gone, from Japanese I salved this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/0.1.2a/ja βΒ the headers were translated, but I guess it's not much loss
btw, I spoke with Calvy (and Vail) in private before the project was created, but now that is is moving some discussion to public.
Anyway, do we know what versions were hosted on Desura? Mostly spoke with that with you @proud cobalt
oh wait, I think I see it
RC 2.9 Build 0008b
seems to be first Desura build?
while 2.9.9.17 is the version that gave Steam keys, not sure how many Desura builds were released after
There's https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history/ru too
Should the thumbnails of Valley Station and Louisville be changed? I don't think they really capture the true scale of those cities
Valley Station thumbnail is especially guilty
I think Valley station one was made before we've "defined" its borders
Valley Station is the entire area south of the exclusion zone fence and north of the Salt River
Im fine with making images larger
There's a pretty clear boundary between what's Louisville and what's Valley Station at least lol
Since we have Doe Valley image like this
Yeah, its in the middle of the military border
From both bridges to the south and roughly middle of the road that military border environs
This cuts off the neighborhood in lv that is above the river
Yeah that black line is just the fence
Well, technically there are two lines lol
I've explored the fence like, 4 times already
I know it pretty well
Lots of guns and ammo, but the soldiers threw all the M16s into the river smh
More technically we have a no tv border that devs had added to lv
These aren't from the game, but recreated, right? Vail sent me the vignette source file as he did them (I think it was paint.net template).
The cities will probably change a little more in build 42 though and/or maybe we'll get new thumbnails, but again, everything will change in b42 π
I guess Exclusion zone border overlaps Valley Station?
og nvm, it's just the fence line π
I am still having in the back of my head we should add this somewhere: https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/43067-4161-released-4160-changelog-inside/&tab=comments#comment-327937
LOUISVILLE AND OVERALL GAMEWORLD
- Louisville added
- Venture into the massive city by following the highway up north from West Point and through Valley Station (North East of the map).
- Added Radio obfuscation inside of the Louisville zone for the following vanilla frequencies:
LBMW - 93.2, NNR - 98.0, KnoxTalk - 101.2, Triple N - cable 200, WBLN - cable 201, Turbo - cable 204
- Applies a 85% scramble on transmitted lines once player enters or starts in the zone, scrambling persists afterwards when leaving zone.
- Scramble line greyed out color has slight red tint to distinguish from storm interference.
- When a line gets scrambled radio codes (for skill gain etc) are removed.
- Added the above to regular weather interference as well.
With the release of 41.61 we've increased server player limit to 32. WARNING: THIS IS FOR TEST PURPOSES. We can't guarantee a smooth experience but would like to hear people's feedback on server performance. VOIP is still recommended to be disabled for now. To be safe, it is recommended to back u...
Wow Louisville was released so late into B41
Yeah, it was after vhs release i think
New info is correct
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Sharpgolden/sandbox#Development
@languid kayak @digital helm (and others as always)
Tables with team members removed
Redirects to main pages of dev teams
Do you think we could work the version history link into development, rather than just see also?
Too bad they always spawn somewhat damaged
Probably, I can try it when Im free again
Ok latest update of item history has been pushed to the wiki, lots of fixes, as well as being more accurate with the extra versions we have found. Also trying out collapsed by default for history tables. Open to feedback on this.
Linking to the item script parameters works very well. Thanks @languid kayak again for that idea
Oh, had the missing versions list changed?
This should be the most updated list
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_History#Old_builds
Honestly Id redo the page all together
Though depends on if we want to have just general info on it or info + history
Oh i just meant linking Version history in the development section of your sandbox
But it could probably do with a rework too, its more of a link to other pages kind of page
I just thought about adding in the info about its first creation, hindrances, initial concept ect
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Fred_and_Ali's_Radical_Journey&type=revision&diff=627201&oldid=593553
The trivia was outright wrong on this one
But, it got me thinking if its a reference to another film
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_%26_Ted's_Excellent_Adventure#Plot
Is the closest that I was able to find
Id call this a "maybe", but still want to have yay or nay on that
anything can be a reference if you set your mind to it
but yeah it seems pretty close
Wait
It was already in the Easter Eggs page
But had a wrong reference in trivia
Huh
https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3067-dr-oids-2/
@proud cobalt Huh, in which version of the game was this a thing?
idk about some of you, but this isn't the game I paid for... -opened safe/compatibility mode for first time-Game title is replaced by "DR. OIDS 2" and weird cheesey music plays in background-Tried opening Zomboid, regular mode(through Steam)-Welcome to DR.OIDS 2 Anyone experience this? How can I ...
By the date it looks late RC 2.9
The time I did tiles overhaul, all the tiles like brewery, giant spiffo were there in the files, but since LV wasn't added, they didn't have any location
Mia from the Forgotten Element?
Yeah, checked the magazine page and trivia about it was there
Okay, so I've updated the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history β was hard to come with grouping, as alpha/pre-alpha term was never clear, I though of separating 0.2.0 releases from 0.1.x releases as they were plenty and some different. I also thought of separating them by Steam and Desura, but the change was not so obvious.
In the end they are grouped as "alpha" (tech demo, 0.1.x and 0.2.x releases), "release candidate" (RC 2.9, RC 2.9.8 aka RC 2.9 - Build 0008, and RC 2.9.9 up to an including the 2.9.9.17 Steam release being the last one, though the 2.9.9.17 numbering continued up to build 26 it seems. Then the rest are under "early access", all using the build nomenclature starting with Build 14
Definitely exists in 2.9.9.17 Lmao this is pretty funny
Only fair to share it with the class
wow the main menu picture is old
Had nasko reached back to you about old versions?
Kind of, they're quite busy and dont really have many of the old versions
Damn
Not sure if they are mentioned anywhere?
Faal and I have found a significant number of them. About 218 versions
I found a 0.1.5b Rus torrent, but there's no seeds. Other than that, the 0.2.0q seems to have three different version (regular, test and combat build, found the file list for the combat build), after friday I may be able to get them.
Other than that, pretty much only dead links to alpha.projectzomboid.com stored on Amazon AWS and dead mirror from one of the users.
A lot of versions were kept in Russian website, but they seem to update the game with each version, which is hosting only 41.78.16 now, some of the missing versions I found had the URL to the website packed inside though. If someone would like more info, I can DM the link, as I don't want to share the pirated links, though nasko (and I think lemmy before that), confirmed piracy is the for the old builds.
The list in the project is pretty accurate of what we need.
Yeah, Ive checked all Russian torrent sites
None of them have working ones, so the best we can do is ask admins torrent admins for a chance that they still have it somewhere
This whole thing could have been avoided if Amazon wouldn't be a shitty company that charged tis a lot and then shut it down w/o a chance of recovery
working as in actually downlodable? As for our purposes, we actually mostly need the items.txt and distributions and and maybe some .lua files for history, though having a complete version would be nice for archival.
There was one repo on GitHub with these I found, but it had the version we already owned π
As downloadable
I think we've probably used same sites
Though maybe its worth using yandex as its a worse version of Google that propagates torrents more
I was able to download some version from a Polish website where dump their files, I'm sutptised it still stands. You have to either pay to download something bigger than 50 MB or share a lot (luckily I could do that with 5 PLN phone charge I'd lost in a few days anyway, so was able to download some for essentially free)
I guess the Raider name was always the confusing part π€ I think I saw it too, not sure if it was an easter egg or a supposed name that never made it?
mind posting the link btw?
Oh, old tis forums
not the website?
I was browsing the old website for any new info and found the old about us page
oh yeah, that's where I saw it. It's not the raider name but a placeholder/not a photo of one of the initial contributors to the game
Howdy all, letβs run through the latest. We updated the public IWBUMS beta this morning, which is now running on Build 41.28. The changelist is viewableΒ here. Edited highlights though, run as we mentionedΒ last week. Experimental optimization. This allows zombies to be updated every X frames via a per-object gametime multiplier that depends on pr...
Boring news, we know β but we like it. Itβs always nice to see Afekayβs Bob image being given a new lease of life too.
Maybe the arts are by them?
Id say so
Well, there are quite some people who went on and off Zomboid over time, the game credits aren't 100% up to date either. I tried tracking the source images of the NPC portraits once, but to no avail, Vail don't remember them either
Speaking of history, I think I only posted that to Calvy but I found the oldest posts mentioning wiki, let me find it
A fun and friendly game development community!
I kinda wonder though, maybe we should give credit to Afekay after all?
It'd be nice to hear a story behind these concept arts, not sure if Afekay is even active anymore (for sure not in the zomboid forums :P)
We should figure out who afekay is and if they actually were the artists
Oh, I found their portfolio
But I cant open it since it redirects me to artstation.com
For some reason
Check on https://web.archive.org
Same thing
https://ca.linkedin.com/in/remidespret Is all thats available
Oh and their stolen art on Pinterest
but yeah, funny how it redirects to 404, I guess it could be disabled
(the redirect, on the browser level)
Can anyone link the PZwiki logo? i literally cant find it
Or is it not uploaded as a file, i will upload if not
Because it's here https://pzwiki.net//w/images/pzwlogo.png
yup, it's here, not mirrored on the wiki atm
or I think it's not?
Tyty
btw, I was thinking, we moved the main page from pzwiki.net/wiki/Main Page as per Vibrance's suggestion back then https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Main_Page&action=history but if we'd write a page about PZwiki then the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Wiki would be a fitting title π
Was thinking about renaming back, since the "Main Page" is linked to on blogs still and the Main Page terminology is used on other wikis anyway, but I'm not sure how good it is to move it back and forth, especially for search engines π€
(and by that time people probably have https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Wiki in their bookmarks anyway :D)
Also, the name of the wiki is an interesting stroy, as it was being referenced by various names (casing and spaces)
- PZWiki
- PZwiki
- PZ Wiki
- PZ wiki
I used PZwiki for everything as I think it's the name of the namespace defined
Yeah i dont know how good it would be to move the main page, the redirect would have to stay anyway. I was thinking something along the lines of PZwiki:History?
Or it could slot into PZwiki:About
But i think thats more technical?
This is some of what i have going at the moment, ill keep it up for feedback/updates but mostly editing it locally
Ok, I think I see many incorrect information
Like how it says or implies the fuel tanks want different mechanics levels.
After I have adequate Mechanics levels I don't really pay attention to the level requirements anymore though xD
For fuel tanks, I am definitely sure it needs Mechanics 5 across the board
Only one way to prove whats right or wrong though...
PZwiki:History may be it, indeed
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:About would work too, would have to be remade and no longer protected I guess
I think it should stay protected as a technical page, and have a link to history
Unless about went to statistics. But I think history is still the way to go
Similar question to the outfits; anything causing the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/ChopTree_(tag) instead of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/ChopTree ? There won't be collisions and we already do so for script parameters
I will be fixing it, but I think we could benefit from redirects from version numbers too, pinging @proud cobalt for that
I guess most of our editors (me included :P) can't be bothered, but I think fixing verify and tags in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Erosion could be a low hanging fruit?
Hey, anyone every seen a nameless CD that can't be played before?
This CD spawned in a bag worn on a zombie
interesting; no mods? Could you compare on that save spawning a vanilla CD from a debug mode? Also in debug mode is should be possible to change the type of a CD, you could compare it that way.
or alternatively you can attach the file save for any of us to fiddle, though I have no idea where I'd check it π
No, I don't run any electronic media mods
and any other mods?
Those could affect it, even if by mistake, I guess anything that modifies loots
Jokes aside, Ill have to push all of my wiki contributions to weekends so that I can finally get my art projects done
Ill try to finish up all of my wiki projects next week, but after that Ill take a backseat for some time
||(I really hope that Tis doesn't push out b42 in December 2nd
)||
Well the mods that I have that effect loot spawns are True Actions 3 Dancing, and Vanilla Firearms Expansion
Neither of them mess with electronic media though lmao
Iβve found two of em in my current save
they canβt be played and an error pops up when I click on em
I assume itβs just a CD the game failed to initialize properly
also they basically appear in equipable containers (not furniture) e.g bags and modded cd cases
Ya, that's where I got mine from too
From a bag worn on a zombie
at this point Iβm just collecting them as cursed trinkets
only two mods that change loot spawns?
Yeah, I play lightly modded
I can not stop adding more vanilla friendly mod items to the game
as long the game doesnβt crash thereβs room for more mods
Dancing mod, which adds dance magazines and another kind of cereal
VFE, which you can clearly guess, adds lots of guns and attachments, and also a magazine book
my favorite mid-save addition is the m65 field jacket
itβs just a cool jacket
the army variant is the coolest though because of the american flag patch
just a little reminder for the zeds where in the world they are in
worth adding a trivia then (and yeah, we should have abug category lol)
sure, Iβll put it in later
not a probject π But a template would be nice
Something like https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Bug
A bug is an error (in performance) or a flaw (in design) in a game which prevents it from working as intended. This includes things such as graphical glitches, incorrect processing of player input, or other features not working properly. ArenaNet sometimes includes bug fixes in their game updates.
In contrast, an anomaly describes a situation in...

btw, I updated each version on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history to follow the new naming and added a missing ones. Some things I'm not sure:
- https://pzwiki.net/wiki/0.2.0r_RC3 βΒ patch notes are from January 24, 2013 lemmy's post, but RC3 technically never released, build 23 is still using the RC 2.9 nomenclute, and then we go further with build naming.
- https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history#RC_2.9 β https://pzwiki.net/wiki/RC_2.9.1 through https://pzwiki.net/wiki/RC_2.9.7 are actually called
RC2.9 - Build 000x(no space after RC, as with0.2.0r RCx) so I wonder if they should be renamed - Then we have
2.9.8 test 00x(not even RC), butRC2.9 - Build 0008andRC2.9 - Build 0008b, so the same, see https://web.archive.org/web/20130705215734/http://www.theindiestone.com/community/viewforum.php?f=39 for both
Also I think we should somewhere link to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history from the actual build pages, like the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/0.1.2a
I know, just joking around
I moved and updated some links on the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Furniture/es but seeing we are gonna move to autogenerated tiles, I think the links in the tables would be settled?
btw @lucid junco I think https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Sharpgolden/sandbox could be merged as it is into https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid if you want, though the whole page needs rewrites too (and there are minor issues too)
This should be mentioned, the Garden Saw can't saw off shotguns, only the Hacksaw can
Yes, this is vanilla
Behold: PzWiki
Or pzWiki like we're doing Hungarian notation
Add it π
Already did
pZwIkI
probably a game bug with hiding objects? Check in debug on vanilla and try teleporting/going to higher z level
pZwIkl
I was mainly waiting for criticism to my developers section rewrite
Not worse than what we have π Could always be improved from there IMHO
I assume what we have now in https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Occupation&curid=102&diff=626093&oldid=437925 is correct? I remember these were changed due to how confusingly they are displayed (and tbf, I never really paid attention myself, as I always play the same build)
Delete the first tiles of the "blade"
It could be the same problem as with County offices
Or country ces as it is currently in game
I'm "player", not "debugger" π
Ypu actually play pz?
This was real gameplay
(albeit I sadly soon died in that run)
Curse you!!! Real players have the best knowledge!!!
No wiki editor had actually played the game for >1 year
You know, the articles I edit tend to be ones of things I have actual game experience with
You know why I overhauled Topcrown Plaza and Valley Station?
Cause they've caused unforgettable trauma on you?
T-t-they just wouldn't stop coming
Topcrown is a cramped office building with an absolute shittons of zombies
Valley Station has zombies everywhere for no reason bro π
Yeah i get that feeling
Valley station has guns in the logo bro, its definitely a good place to find guns. Look, it has businesses with "guns" in their name
Knob Creek Hunting Lodge is pretty decent, but it's a PITA to get to
You know where else you can get guns in decent amounts with additional loot? Any military surplus and it would be 100x more valuable than even entirety of the gun range and hunting lodge
Ive never been bamboozled in my entire experience of the game, than when I expected there to be gun stores in the valley station
Technically you can find guns in the "Straight shooter"
Guns on biker zombies I guess?
I found a good amount of biker zombies too near the Scarlet Oak Distillery
Nah, there is a chance for shotty spawn in the bar (I think)
Oh?
Oh well
Seeing Heat of the Night, I believe things will get better for Valley Station
If that's true, other langues needs adjusting too https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Occupation/es
You guys ever find a car with duplicate keys before?
They're always event vehicles for me
that I've never seen before
either that or I've never noticed
Apparently purses are also forageable hahaha
Yes
I've had that like, multiple times before
They're always event vehicles like wheel swap or ambulance
I think Ive encountered them with vehicles that have keys in the building, and then got one from zeds
@proud cobalt
Hello there survivors. I've been wonderin' if it was possible to POST any older versions of the game.I have attempted to contact lemmy and others - No responses, thats why i setup a thread for this. Just to make it clear - I do not want to create some kind of market of older versions, without the...
Yeah we have these ones
So are these not 0.2.0q experimental combat build?
Yeah its not the experimental build
Theres 0.2.0q 0.2.0q test, and 0.2.0q experimental combat
Oohπ
at least; yesterday I found another 0.2.0q that have slight differences to both the 0.2.0q and 0.2.0q test, least that's how I indentified them.
They are easy to mistake, as experimental combat build never had the official version number in it on the forum, but had it like that in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZtVcCgH6jk
Also in experimental combat build, the weapons didn't spawn and the links to 0.2.0q test were swapped with experimental one https://web.archive.org/web/20120920020101/http://theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=7418
I found some torrents with experimental build but no seeds. There's one that has file lists, now that you mention it, I actually should get back to it to compare with the ones we have.
I have links to three other versions of 0.2.0q on a polish website you have to pay for transfer but I believe they are the same; if I'll decide to download them and not something else, I'll do that before the Friday.
A build so that the new combat can be tested
Download for combat build: http://theindiestone.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=7231
I hope you enjoy, feel free to leave comments and ratings, they're much appreciated.

A fun and friendly game development community!
With 0.2.0q, there are versions that don't have stormy's item inside and some do. I believe it's test build that has it, even if it's not mentioned in patch notes at all.
zomboid020test.zip is the file name for experimental combat build, in case someone wonders
@naive imp Whats ur opinion on creating pages for unnamed gas stations?
They are currently only mentioned as a part of the https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&search=Gas station page
Not necessary imo, they're already part of the gas station page
In general unnamed locations should not have their own page. We do have some left over from previous formatting and editing strategies but they will get repurposed later down the line
I'll be online more lately as I'm finally going to be out of training phase at my job and will have more time
So hopefully this will all be able to get straightened out
Im partially in favor of not paging every single unnamed business, but I think there are some that can be due to their unique loot or how they can be usefull in game
Eg Gun stores
Yeah I'm torn on places like Pawn shops and gun stores too but they will have their own page like gas station that lists every location of that type later down the line
Thus making those pages obsolete
BUT if you wanna create them for now that way they're documented until then I could copy the info and delete the individual pages later π€
Because it would help readers ro know where they are
And I can just repurpose them later π€
Eh, we'll see
There are not currently that many unnamed businesses that are usefull aka may need their own page
Id maybe create pages for hardware stores, since they have valuable loot
Oh, speaking of hardware stores
Maybe we should make a page for it?
There are enough stores for that + they have usefull loot in them
Did a basic page for Dr. Oids in case someone want to add something to it (this bit is just a roughly written, so needs rewriting) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Dr._Oids
Also, if someone happen to have the game files or more info about the gameplay, it would be nice to add too π
I remember seeing some YouTube video covering history of The Indie Stone / Project Zomboid covering it, but I can't find it now
I guess the music is from PAWS there? I wonder if the original Droids had any music?
yeah, the music is from paws
paws1.ogg
oh I didn't think of backing the old video from Turbo, now it's gone π¦
nothing much interesting now I guess, interactable arcade machines on pre-b41 version
changed lightings and played some random tunes, both redundant in b41 and I think it didn't play any dr. oids stuff so maybe I'll remove the mention of it
btw @zealous moth with you being semi active, @proud cobalt has a project of automatically generating item pages, you'd have to translate just a few things and the rest would be pulled from the translation files. Several languages have it implemented, but French isn't one, see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Translations β see the recent message here: #pzwiki_editing message
I don't understand what you're expecting. If you need me to translate a file, just give me the file's URL. If you need me to translate a page, no problem.
As I mentioned in DM, I'm not very active because I don't have the time to follow every discussion or complex project. I only have free time during medical treatments when I just have to wait with my computer. Sometimes, I find time before sleeping or during bouts of insomnia.
I'm just a basic soldier who follows clear missions. Give me a task board and instructions, and I'll be the most efficient French translator xD.
I'll be much more involved as soon as I can.
hm, for some reason the link may not work, but it'd basically be this:
"fr": {
"intro_template": "{lowercase_name} is an item in Project Zomboid.",
"headers": {
"Usage": "Usage",
"Condition": "Condition",
"Location": "Location",
"Code": "Code",
"See also": "See also",
"Consumable properties": "Consumable properties",
"Repairing": "Repairing",
},
"help_text": "Help PZwiki by adding information to this section.",
"translate_reason": "Translated using game translation files.",
"condition_categories": ["Weapon", "Tool / Weapon"],
"condition_text": (
"The {name} has a maximum condition of {condition_max}.
"\n\n{{{{Durability weapon|{condition_lower_chance}|{condition_max}|skill={skill_type}}}}}"
(quoting Calvy)
both claims i removed are entirely untrue though
it is not available on steam and there is no intention to ever have a demo again
The demo would be this https://steamdb.info/app/264910/ βΒ while technically available on Steam files, it's not really intended to be used as it won't ever be updated and won't do the game any good.
(I like the raider art on it, though)
btw @proud cobalt I think we had this discussion, but any way for the history table to link to actual versions, like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_41#Build_41.78.16 instead of just https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_41 in general?
(the links added by script automatically especially)
There are some links that should link to 2.9.8 but accidentially link to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/RC_2
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Burger#Location this says that Burger can be found in Spiffo's van, but the location table doesn't have it⦠Should we remove it?
Technically(If I remember correctly) you can find burgers in the paper bags
but yeah, you cant for the most part
seems best to remove then I guess
oh btw, if someone want to do more digging as part of project history, I recently added the archive.org links to all the changeglos I coukld find, but couldn't find some, here's the ones that lack it if someone want to look for them: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?search="(not+archived)"
I', not sure if the actual changelogs were kept anywhere else?
It's private not removed. You might be able to ask for a download?
Well, at that point it isn't that important really. It showed an old, probably abandoned now concept of interactive arcade machines that will be replaced with something else
and it used generic sound effects IIRC anyway
Found an interesting video linked somewhere in #pz_b42_chat IIRC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUeKWMGd_Ug
Edited a few spawn numbers, removed my personal needs, so I could watch some old NPC behavior. After awhile they just "stop" and rarely move again unless I exit the game. They don't seem to have any desire to eat, so they all die at the same time after about two or three days.
oh, I see artimedias shared it recently too π
(on a few occasions)
Yeah for the most part sounds doable, ill look into it
original link: #pz_b42_chat message
Can this even be found through foraging or not? It's lacking a table @proud cobalt https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Caterpillar_(banded_woolly_bear)
oh wait, I think all catepillars lack the distribution table?
is https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Outfit_Fisherman this? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fisherman_(male_outfit) or totally unrelated?
Yes, i need to update the distribution script now that we have outfit pages
Should I keep the text in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hockey_Stick#Zombies ? The location table doesn't mention where do these bandits spawn
I am 100% sure that bandits/survivor zombies are random spawns
I see them all over the place! There's not one location that consistently spawns survivor zombies
Have to link to the pages when i update the code. The outfit page shows where they can spawn
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bandit_(male_outfit)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bandit_(female_outfit)
true, removing then, thanks!
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Locations_and_Maps
@naive imp Looks like it wasn't properly updated in a whileπ
browsing the 0.1.2a files, it seems that the Raider was named "Earl" internally?
The Bobby Colins name we have probably was from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to4lNOuE3FU and follow up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP-1IELr6cY where he realized it's not Bobby anymore π

Testing out the filters rn
Its a bit hard to figure out the correct filters with original resolution being 256x256

Looks nice, encompasses the entire village
Im more concerned about the filters
There is a cool Frosted glass effect that I find aesthetically fitting
Updated https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Version_history#Pre-alpha_tech_demo as a part of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_History β the trivia section may require a bit of cleanup, but wanted to share the info we have. Calvy is getting the new archive.org mirror of the versions we retrieved, all should be playable on a modern computer (Windows only, but I believe these can be made to run on Mac and Linux as well). Missing builds are still on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_History β we'll update as we find more info. I have some more clues for the missing versions (dead links, file lists, file sizes and we have patch notes), but getting them off the public sources may be hard without asking people that used to have the game or getting the builds elsewhere.
I'll do some further cleanups to the version history, but it's shaping good over time π
Also, the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_History is mostly a project of me and @proud cobalt right now, but as it's lacking leadership and @lucid junco has taken some interest to it and are without the project currently (with the other projects like Lore and Location having a leader right now, and sharpgolden being productive overall). What do you all think about potentially having sharpgolden as a leader for it?
Hope @digital helm doesn't mind sharing, that's the Paint.net vignette Vail used to create the thumbnail for cities that didn't have it
Im fine with taking the leadership. Dont think that its something as pressing as Location or Lore due to their relatively high demand and may be more lenient as my first wiki project
So I vote for me as a leader
I'll give it at least several hours so some of our active users pops up, but if no one minds then I'll proceed later today or tomorrow at worst π€
In what capacity?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Locations_and_Maps#Doe_Valley and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Locations_and_Maps#No_settlement was not updated after Ive finished(most) of the businesses included in there
And Im not sure why LV isnt finished if we have already crossed out all of the businesses

(amazon's a dead link obviously, but there's a file name)
Found more btw, the only ones without forum links are:
If someone founds a forum links to these, I'll link them.
Other than that, there are some dead links, so can't cross-check what we have on wiki unless someone finds a backup/video with the changelogs, but hopefully what we have is right π€
I'm doing a final cleanup sweep before everything is closed out. If you want to cross them off that's fine but just notate that they still need the final sweep after LV
Also Louisville isn't closed out because I'm still doing my final sweep even if it is taking forever
Not to be condescending or anything just saying why
I should have time tonight to get to a lot of stuff
yeah, I think they were crossed out before, so kinda confusing. I was also wondering what the current sitatuion is since you guys put a lot of effort into it, but glad ThinkDock will have some time to look finally π
can still be downloaded, btw http://projectzomboid.com/tools/CostumeEdv1.zip
Its a bit confusing on the states of some locations, doe valley in particular, where I think we have encapsulated everything that is to it
( ah, so the changelogs were on the website too: https://web.archive.org/web/20120203091727/http://projectzomboid.com/blog/index.php/2011/09/project-zomboid-0-1-5d-released )
Seems the first Desura version was 0.1.5a https://web.archive.org/web/20130405055225/http://projectzomboid.com/blog/index.php/2011/08/project-zomboid-on-desura-which-also-means-paypal-support/
So everything between 0.1.5a and 2.9.9.16 at least was on Desura; not sure how much alive Desura builds were after the switch to Steam (we stil mis some early Steam builds between 2011 and 2015 due to unknown manifest numbers, missing on SteamDB) https://lab.xpaw.me/manifests.php
huh, weird, back in 2013 an unofficial Wikia was linked on the sitebar instead of the official pzwiki, probably by an omission? https://web.archive.org/web/20130308182002/http://projectzomboid.com/blog/index.php/2011/08/patch-for-update-is-close/
oh nvm, both were listed π
all four wikis are archived in varying qualities btw

oh, the 2.9.9.17 is what was adopted to "build" I guess? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-l4RYKVRew I think @proud cobalt was mentioning it too π€ It says 17 (00012a), so it'd be "RC2.9.9.17 - Build 00012a) I guess? Would it make it Build 12 then?
By our versioning it'd be build 14 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Build_14

technically it's funny, as PZ never reached the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/0.2.0r_RC3, with the most recent build being technically 0.2.0r RC2.9.9.17 (build 41.78.16) π
Also funny how gradually everything was dropped over time π

extremely funny that that a version of the game over a decade old with almost none of the content now existing was considered a 'release candidate'
yeah, naming for PZ versions was never good to begin with π
@proud cobalt @digital helm's old foraging template seems to say the Weather modifiers are in %, if so, maybe the template could be adjusted?
I'll be removing the template, however, for Rose Hips the Calvy's template is having different values than Vail's one; I guess Calvy's's one is the one correct? Worth checking to be sure though
Rose hips can be found sitting on the ground as part of survivor stories. They do not spawn naturally inside containers.
Is it correct?
(template removed now btw, was only used on this page and three foraging plants/wild plants/wild herbs), the Calvy's template entirely replaced it π
searchinf for older patch notes, I stumbled upon this https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2015/09/post-egx/ βΒ some developer photoes, and backstory behind the Spiffo we have here: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Spiffo#Physical_community-created_merchandise (not so 100% unofficial then?)
For the past four days the Project Zomboid team have been spreading our infection at the EGX games show in Birmingham. It was pretty staggering, really. Talking to so many passionate PZ players and (hopefully) introducing a bunch more to the Survivor pool was an amazing experience. Right now the almost the entire PZ team [β¦]
oh, Tooks Bear is also a reference to a developer Tooks: https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2015/09/pre-egx/ maybe I'll add it myself, but pinging @tulip kiln as always π
Itβs a busy, busy week at TIS Towers this week as the vast majority of the dev workforce and a considerable chunk of community will be heading to Birmingham (UK version) later this week to attend the EGX games show and to shove Zomboid into the faces of the assembled masses. If you fancy coming [β¦]
well, maybe not a developer, but someone close to the team for sure π
and Tooks is the author ofthe cake and 3D printed Spiffo from that gallery

could these version #s get any more ridiculous? Stay tuned to find out.
Yep build 12a, same way 17 (0008b) is build 8b
seems we miss some builds on the wiki then

seems so far everyone agrees, so welcome sharpgolden as anew project leader π

*Please note that the above video shows a game far from finished, and graphically not close to the envisioned quality. Placeholder music/sfx, missing anims/game-play and some bugs are also visible in the video, but we figured you would prefer a matter of fact play-through of the current build, warts and all, than to cut it together to flatter us...

sadly no longer active similar to Twiggy
Some small but meaningful changes going up for distributions. Links to outfits in both container and attached weapon sections. And a fix for foraging
Should https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Key_(Padlock) be a future item as I don't think it can be obtained via regular means?
I removed that bit too: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Leather_Gloves_(black)&type=revision&diff=628765&oldid=627307 β I guess it wasn't even accurate? I don't think the construction zombies have these (least in vanilla)
huh, I think the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Pants_(jeans)#Variants didn't survive the change from back there π
The more I get back into items, the more I see how much love items need β a new project would be welcome especially as there's a whole set of tasks from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#Items_and_boilerplates but maybe I won't make a new project straight away, especially as we're barely settling with the history project
Another wrong link @proud cobalt https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/RC_2.9.9.17_(0009)_(Build_9)
Working on this right now
I guess this verify tag is safe to remove? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Spiffo_T-shirt_(Spiffo's)#Location
I think someone got confused by "jays chicken" in the roomdef
nah, I think I added it because it was prior to splitting or something, back when the distribution template was basic and it stayed, that's the oldest revision having it https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Spiffo_T-shirt_(Spiffo's)&diff=prev&oldid=224355 β but since then, the Calvy's script basically took over doing the changes automatically, so I guess it's correct now?
and indeed, back then and now
Not sure if you want to confirm @proud cobalt but I think the table we have now is correct now? If so, I'd remove the verify
If the verify tag is from the V1 tables than id say its worth removing now. They were very hit or miss before, but theyre quite solid now.
btw, we don't really have any norsk and Japanese translators, but we have some Russians,
I removed these redirects yesterday as they were leading to now removed outdated version history, but if anyone will want to recreate the pages, these can be brought back (and used as Title, as that was the only thing of importance lost
Japanese: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=γγΌγΈγ§γ³ε±₯ζ΄&action=edit&redlink=1
Norwegian: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Versjonshistorikk&action=edit&redlink=1
and Russian:
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=ΠΡΠ΅_ΠΠ»ΡΡΠ°&action=edit&redlink=1 and https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=ΠΡΡΠΎΡΠΈΡ_Π²Π΅ΡΡΠΈΠΉ&action=edit&redlink=1 (it had two redirects (version history and pre alpha)
BTW, another thing to discuss; I briefly talked with @proud cobalt following the brief discussion about linking to each build in history section.
I initially though of grouping the old pages together, as we do with the newest builds starting from the 2.9.9.17, but now I'm instead thinking, maybe we should have split the newer build pages instead?
Currently, the Build 41 page is a monstrous and the largest page on the wiki (see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:LongPages). It's really unwieldy to edit (LanguageTool chuckles on a paid plan and won't work for free plans at all due to sheer size of the page) and linking to each build is hassle (like, it was added in build 41.78.14, when after splitting it'd simply be it was added in build 41.78.14).
Build 42 will probably be no smaller, and we learned after build 42 that minor versions can change a lot (new foraging, new items), and it's confirmed not all build 42 features will make it to the initial builds, which will surely lead to the same situation.
I also think it'd be easier for bots to update these pages at glance due to consistent formatting, and certainly will make linking to a specific version in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:HistoryTable easier.
The only drawback may be more clicking to cycle through versions β on one hand, we can make an overview page for each big build. But do keep in mind that the difference between Build 8 and Build 9 is literally one change compared to gazillion changes from Build 41 to Build 42.
Pinging @digital helm for thoughts too
i saw that you added a brief summary about the machete location in https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Machete&curid=14611&diff=627435&oldid=624107 @rotund echo β I've been recently removing them, as they were often outdated and the new location table kinda covers it, but I know that kind of text is sometimes easier to read than the table π€.
I know we had discussion about it, but I don't remember the conclusion; what is our current stance on this topic? Pinging mostly @proud cobalt for that
I think we should add it to style guilde of what we want it and where (over or under the table)
Kind of leaving it for important items, and removing it from others particularly if its wrong or outdated. I think some good points were made by @naive imp about the readability of location tables, even if I don't necessarily agree with all of them. Keep it simple and easy to verify against the table and i'm chill.
Looking at this edit in particularly, i think its good. I think all text in Location should go above the location table. Buildings/Zombies should be removed/ integrated into Toads edits where reasonable. Though a bit more specific. Something like this
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Machete&diff=629909&oldid=628693
Yeah factory and warehouse have a smaller chance than the others, so wasn't including all of them
I'm a long blade lover myself
This guy gets it
Did anything ever come of collaborating with blindcoder on editing the map POIs? @naive imp @languid kayak
Here's one of my pet peeves with the Zomboid Map Project
The general store in West Point is wrongly labeled as "Hardware Store" on the Zomboid Map Project
This has actually caused some confusion amongst players, with them traveling to the place thinking it has tools, only to be disappointed it has food and clothes instead
Yeah there was hope we could get these updated with at least Faal being given access.
But that was some time ago
Technically general store is also hardware store.. But yeah, it would be better if we took over juuust a bit and made some clarifications
I'd love to get some of it done, if others are busy
I had tried addin in the junkyard, gunstore, gas station and I think church to the Riverside but it never did Ig?
And after logging in with my account pz map stopped working altogether
I think the submissions are fairly abandoned at this point
Seems so
Id have added them if I could, not that big of a deal
Maybe whiped all of the old submissions, with a few notable exceptions and added in all the businesses in the locations table
Since there are a number of duplicate submissions and some that are completely wrong & spread misinfo
Personally I would wipe them all and start from scratch
I was working on my own alternative but that's on pause for a while
Not against that
Id do it if I knew how, as ive said its just going through the Businesses table on each location page and adding them in, then maybe finishing off with notable locations like parks, isolated cabins, settlements, ect
I don't think it needs every one of them, but actual places of interest yeah
You have to be given permission by blind coder
There are some problems with pz map overall, most of the challenge maps appear to be blurry for me
So they are pretty much useless if we want to tie it to the future location in the wiki
Yes, we both have admin access to add and approve new map POIs but neither of us have had any time
I plan to get around to it at some point
Probably after most wiki articles are in a solid state
Blindcoder is working on a fix for that but no wta
Eta
well, technically doable, but we netier me, Vail of ThinkDock got to it π
I tried updating it now, but I think that it might have not worked. Even if it did, the cache can take a day to update
The plan was (and I guess to a degree still is), to have the same coordinated on the wiki and map. I think this could even be automated, but I hope I'd find more time for coordination :D. I think that if you would have some ideas, you could ask blindcoder, though I think he doesn't have much time to spare nowadays for the map sadly.
But yeah, me, ThinkDock and vail got a POI manager access https://map.projectzomboid.com/POI/index.php/login β blindcoder initially wanted to have accounts with less privilages, but there's only one global now. There are a lot of user-submitted POIs (anyone can do them), but I never went through them, really (nor Vail or Thinkdock).
Also, I have no idea what the plans are for b42 as far as map goes.
I think the b41 will have to stay at least for a iwbums? MP will be 41.78.16 for a while still
removing all submissions was the question asked, but I wanted to go through them eventually, wanted being the most important part π
The most I did was renaming this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Map_Project β but the whole page needs rewriting and being linked to more (it's still linked on the map under Style Guide to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZMap:StyleGuide#General_rules)
may not do it right away, but @proud cobalt @digital helm are you generally fine with splitting the builds to one build (no matter how unsignificant) per page? The way it's already done for old builds.
hm, not sure if the different names at https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Calvy/sandbox#Easter_eggs classifies as Easter egg?
Also, as far as bots goes, even I got a bot π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:FaalagornBot
I marked https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Radio&type=revision&diff=632207&oldid=625671 as improve, as I'm undecided about the headers
I'd be okay with that. Something I thought of too, especially as each major build has become much bigger than they used to be
Going back to this, I assume it's correct? Should we carry on that to non-English pages?
I had heard this, but never looked into it myself
@proud cobalt with the forced recreation of some location templates, I guess this https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Location_table&curid=55713&diff=628235&oldid=608027 will still stay?
this page needs fixing too π© Not sure I'm up for the task soon https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Furniture/es
lots of wrong dead links
I can see two ways about this, an article for each minor build, and an article for each patch. As an editor and user i lean towards each minor build. So 41.78 would have a page, but 41.78.16 would just be a section inside of that. OTOH that sounds like a nightmare to try code the history table generator around π I'm not against one for each patch, But maybe Build 41 for example remains an overview page for all changes
Content and order nowhere near finished yet π Had to save what i had and go home last night
Yeah i dont see the need to add it to each individual number, it encompasses all
I'm slowly working on generating these pages, havn't gotten very far as SYF isn't my priority now that the tile pages are in a good state, that was my planned work on the project
There was an all things zomboid podcast with some TIS staff on it. I wonder if they have any of it archived? Everything ive found is dead
How do we want to name mondoid/thursdoid/monthdoid archive? @lucid junco @languid kayak ideas?
I figured just the name of the blog would be enough. Hallodoid for example
I would go with that
maybe at most just prefix the title whether its a thursdoid or mondoid (depends on the age of the blog post)
If you are asking about individual names of the blogs - go with their original name, Id put Monthoids/Thursdoids/Mondoids into either the prefix after the title or as a category at the bottom
If you are asking about name of the archive - News archive or Articles archive
yeah the overviews for recent builds would be something we'd have to keep with the summary, at least for the recent builds (40, 41, 42) and probably some 30-ish.
I think having each minor patch would make our life easier? Also the numbering sometimes is inconsistent too
we can add infobox to them too, with the date, preview image (I think every one had one) and a type (Mondoid/Thursdoid/mod showccase or whatever they were called etc.)
Its a bit different depending on where you look at though
At least for some
The burglary statement has raider in the preview on moddb
And project zomboid.com has a nuclear explosion
Blind coder gave me access to POIs. I have started working on the over 2,500 pending
the statements are kinda special kind of blog posts, can have all variations archived I guess.
For the most part, the mondoids and thursdoids is something of the main focus
so if those are the same (and I think they should), should be fine.
The mondoids were posted on Facebook too initially, they noted formatting difference
OK all POI submissions have now been processed. (About 200 approved out of 2,500) Next I will work on name Standardization, as well as location names.
It will take about 48 hours to update, according to blind coder. Then we can see what is missing
yup. something like that checks out π
Most of the news & dev posts are up now. A couple got blocked by the spam filter so I'll have to do them manually. Community will come next than modding. If anybody knows any news blogs that aren't hosted on the current website please let me know.
I think the names and casing would have to be adjusted? https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2014/11/i-w-bums-and-i-cannot-lie/
Hello, a short and sweet Mondoid this week β primarily due to the awesome contained within. First off, you know Build 30? That awesome one with all the Medical advances, the Erosion integration and the cool split-screen bizness? Well it looks like this in a surprisingly well-produced, and consistently French, video as produced and directed [β¦]
Also, it seems the header images are not imported automatically? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hallodoid https://projectzomboid.com/blog/content/uploads/2024/10/waveley2.png
The name on wiki is File:Hallodoid image1.png
That's on purpose. I also scrapes all the images and renamed them in the same format so it's standardised when I upload then to the wiki. There's about 1400 images so having all random names isn't very helpful
The entire thing only weighs 2.0 encumbrance
the best chair (not ironically)
Underrated I'd say
Especially if you like heavier weapons such as fire axe, the piano stool is great to have
Its so light for a chair, you really can just stash it in your backpack
With Organized you can put one into a fanny pack
The best bed for people suffering from scoliosis.
All hands on deck folks
yeah, better quality if someone want to see it close up π https://projectzomboid.com/blog/content/uploads/2024/11/surfacecraftUI.png
Can't wait for it to come out, play for like 5 mins and then completely put it on hold for the new pages.
(may not make to the first unstable though)
I resigned to that fate too once I started to do locations
All depth to exploration just gone lol
Sacrifice was worth it tho
this menu is neat too
keep in mid nthere may not be new map pzmap for a while too π
Nope
@ruby moss what's the plan
I don't get the beta any sooner than you do, so once it's out, and I find the time, I'll update and upload it, then discuss with TIS when to release it
usually that's no sooner than two weeks after release
mainly because I'm slacking on the update, rather than TIS asking me to delay it :D
(they never have, but I talk to them about it anyway)
wiki won't be ready on release either most likely, though with Calvy's recent scripts if they will work, may at least partially be π
awesome! They went through all the POIs, too, so the submission queue is empty for the first time since public submissions became a thing!
If you're cool with answering, how the hell do you do it? Like are all the pics on the interactive map just ingame screenshots you took and effectively stitched together?
that's literally how the map started. Then Turbo made a C# program to extract the lotpack files into PNGs which I then stitched together. That became https://github.com/blind-coder/pz-mapmap/
these days, I use https://github.com/cff29546/pzmap2dzi which is way faster than that tool
Damn, respect to you for doing it, helped a shit ton for me learning the map way back in the day when you had to run everywhere cause there were no cars. Took me months to realise the spawn towns weren't separate maps
Only figured that out when I got told about the map site
haha, yeah, the game doesn't really tell you
you can see it if you look at the map files, but that's it
Well now it's easier since you can find maps of other towns in-game so you'd probably piece it together at that point
The amount of time I've spent on wiki stuff than playing the actual game has been a bit much lmao
haha, I get you
I played zomboid since it was on desura, and the hours logged on steam are rivalled only by Kerbal Space Program and Dyson Sphere Program
I found it around 2016 cause of some YouTuber Mathas? And Nerdcubed I think
yeah, Mathas and Nerdcubed did a LOT of zomboid stuff
This was after many years of thinking to myself "god I want a zombie survival with no cure"
bought it June 3 2011 myself
How do I know? Because that's the day THIS comic went online
Oh my god, I only know about that Comic cause of that popular loss meme template
It was a Comic that later became a meme template
Oh... THAT one.
But yeah I only really showed up in the pz community for the first time when I showed up here a few years back to propose my stupid new idea that "when zombies eat your corpse sometimes you shouldn't come back because they ate into your brain"
I apparently forgot that we have an excellent device called a skull that protects our brain from that very thing
Braaaaains
alright, I need sleep. Doesn't help with the looks, but keeps the crankyness at bay :D
Good night y'all

My favorite kind of memes
OK the map cache is well and truly updated. Feel free to start making submissions or let me know of errors and I'll get them fixed up/ approved
I guess it's finally time to gear up for B42, I'll start preparing my order to complete
I feel absolutely not ready for b 42
Hey at the start of the year I wasn't sure we would get all the items to B41 before B42 came out.
But I will be putting everything else on the back burner to prepare now.
There's still some things I'd like to finish, mostly pages from the the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance β the only thing I don't know, how far are we with splitting? There's 15 pages in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Its_variants and more in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_to_be_split but is everything marked?
Also should add yours autogenerated categories there π
the splitting and navboxes was one of the reason I though project for items might be a good idea, also to clear https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks for it to be (mostly) the blank canvas now (there's a whole section of navboxes, splitting and items list that don't belong to a project)
oh and body part / body location, IIRC @digital helm was working on it?
Also the modding section, that's neglected and we don't have a leader really π©. @fallen egret posted this https://github.com/Project-Zomboid-Community-Modding/pz-community-modding/issues
I though of putting it in the wiki in some form maybe? So we can track the issues by editing wiki as well? Also give blank canvas for the new modding stuff.
oh and the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_requested_for_deletion though I think I should remade the vehicles one π€
Splitting will be one focus for me
Today I got older by one year, thanks everyone in the wiki community (and general pz discord community) for being so friendly
Image featuring Griefer Jeebus that was testing out the game with me in the devmode and plushies representing yall(ig

happy birthday!
Back to the autoimported titles, should these be adjusted manually over time? Like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fao_desura_survivors
dang I'm gonna have to prepare project lore for b42
I'm looking over the tasklist but it seems there's not much else to do in the meantime other than maybe preparing the books and flyers article
happy birthday man! π
Also, are we supposed to manually assign them to these categories? Also not 100% sure the names would be final, but that could be easily changed with a bot I guess:

https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Community
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Modding_(blogs)
This page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Items/pt-br would need links to be updated to use English/pt-br instead (and/or redirects added when needed), but not sure I'm gonna do this straight away
I moved the individual changelogs from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/2.9.8 into respective pages βΒ the individual builds are now only linked in the infobox currently, but how do we want these build summary pages to look like? Pinging @lucid junco and @proud cobalt for that
I think the first "true" build seems to be Build 26? Build 1-25 are just 2.9.9.17 build x
Though even since they are named, the number of versions are just once and release dates of build 26-30 are close to each other
Yeah Move/change them where needed, theyre only a generate once and upload kind of deal. I will be adding all the images and such too. Speaking of, what do you use for compression? its about 1400 images and i got it from 700mb down to 300mb
https://github.com/fhanau/Efficient-Compression-Tool/tree/v0.9.5 though it's no longer udpated apparently
Categories are from pz website, they are assigned by the script, only the News & Dev section has been done right now
Which settings do you use?
ect -9999 -strip --allfilters-b --pal_sort=120 image.png for small images, ect -9 -strip image.png for larger
I actually have documented it in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Images
Hey, I found the rigged house annotated map now
Can zombies set off the bombs and traps?
not sure
Really unsure about that
Its probably currently hindered by lack of other 2.9.8 builds like 2.9.8c, test 001,002,003
And that you cant access it unless you go to the 2.9.9 build page and then go back
Wiki got a feature in the latest Atomic duck video
Should the about template be removed now that B41 project is closed? @languid kayak
@naive imp I cant get over the McCoys page π
It has the same situation as StorAMax
Where there are a lot of loading containers all over, and Im unsure on how we should manage them
Though unlike storamax mccoys are currently belonging to the company and are being used in the proper way
So maybe refer to it as "logging company with the main logging camp near the Muldraugh"
(I can't believe this was 4 months ago) Just want to check we're still happy with this discussion?
1: Add the revision numbers to all the page version templates. I will likely do this in the next few days
2: Add a disclaimer to page revision that parts of it may be updated to the latest build
3: Add a Site notice that says something along the lines of "B42 has released to unstable beta. Parts of articles may contain updated data." then a call to action of some kind
4: Only editors will update the page version number once they are happy with its contents
@digital helm @languid kayak
Also I'm going to go through the B42 project board to prepare it, should we change its name now?
@languid kayak ive split the electric guitar and bass into Electric Guitar (colour) not realising they are named Colour Electric Guitar. Are you able to move them and overwrite the redirects that currently exist. I'll fix the double redirects and Variants sections in the morning
@rotund echo what had west point done to you? π
It made me strong
One thing I didn't like about the pzwiki.net article on West Point is that, it says the loot is bad
But I've recently realized that the loot is good, throughout much of the city
GUNS EVERYWHERE BRO
WEST POINT MADE ME INTO A GUNS ENJOYER
Yeah, especially in school, because it was about to have a shootout
Fr fr
Like, I'd be surprised if you didn't find at least 2-3 guns in one of the bigger houses
Oh, I think I found the guncase in the wardrobe with a shotty
Yep, tends to be like that
Also, the dense heatmap makes it that there are more loot
You can find some pretty sweet things in the house garages in West Point
(In all seriousness, I like to clear out the downtown, main street, American Tire, and school with guns)
Im currently having a 9x playthrough and spawned in the enigma books
9x is crazy
The game and my pc couldn't handle that zeds were already swarming me the second I spawned
Barely got away to the outskirts mansions
I still wouldn't recommend most people to spawn there. It's more than the average player can handle, and we have to remember that most people who read the wiki aren't people like us who are good at the game, it's average and low-skilled players
I do still think most of the loot in the suburbs are pretty bad aside from guns. While there is the possibility of finding stuff in the garages the most common weapons are pipes amd such
Hey, I was an "average" skill player who chose to spawn there (West Point kicked my ass until I became a good player)
It still kicks most people's ass I think lol
Also metal bars and hammers don't suck as weapons, they're underrated
Not sure why you decided to remove the part gat most of the best loot is in the downtown area that was objectively true
To you maybe, but you have to remember most people who read wiki articles aren't as proficient with one type of weapon as you
They're great if you know how to use them but the majority doesn't
I find many wares, books, medicals, even in the suburbs
I did keep the part where the "major looting locations" were in the downtown
I don't see it in the difference
Forgive the phone pic my chromebooks discord is broken
Because I never changed that part in the first place
To me it's in red which means it was removed?
I apologize for the phone pic lol but my chromebooks discord is broken
Should also be included in the strategy section imo
But maybe that's just an opinion?
Nah, all weapon classes are good when you have levels in them
I just don't really like ceding to the "Fire Axe vs. Crowbar" shit or whatever weapon is the "meta" or popular choice
@rotund echo By the way one thing I massively disagree with is the changes to the districts saying that the garages can spawn sledge and machetes. Yeah they can but the chance is actually really small
You have people thinking they commonly spawn the way its worded
I think it's too rare to even mention tbh
Also it's not like west point garages have a separate roomdef, all garages can spawn those
I think you may have based these edits a little too much off of anecdotes imo
But then again I did so too when I slandered the place
@languid kayak @proud cobalt what do yall think?
Large sample size + dense zombies heatmap straight up increasing loot spawns
Well we have to remember that the majority of wiki readers don't think like we do
But that doesn't mean we should bend over to popular belief or myths
We have to cater to the most popular audience, which in these case, is an average or low-skilled player. People like us who know the inside and our of the game don't even need the wiki to read
I think we should to an extent
Obviously not just regurgitating stuff but we have to cater to our popular audience and I don't think some of the edits made to west point reflect that imo
I think it's a bit too catered towards people who are already pretty good ar the game
Matter of fact is its a tough town to spawn in which may be good for people like you or me who like a challenge but for the people who don't that warning I put there made sense
Again not trying to argue or be rude just disagree with a lot here
And in sorry if I come off argumentative that's not my intention
I don't think we should, and that we should try to spread our "inside and out" knowledge of the game to noobs/average players
That translates better to some things than others imo
And how good certain weapons are is not one of them because it's often entirely opinion, preference, and skill based, except for things like the machete and katana which are objectively good
Loot spawns too
Just because you can find a machete in a west point garage, it shouldn't be mentioned as you can find em in literally every other garage and they're stupid rare in a garage
You don't have tl roll it back completely
I was just stating what I disagree on
How about this @rotund echo, I'll make some changes and then you tell me if you agree and we can go from there?
You roll it back, or someone else
I don't want to roll everything back and I want us both to be satisfied with the article
A lot of my edits to the article come from my own personal experience
Hell, the majority of my edits to the wiki were sourced from my own game experience
Not what I browsed on r/projectzomboid or seen on YouTube
Mine too, I wasn't saying that we blindly follow everyone else, just keep in mind other's skill level and not show favoritism through our preferred choices is all
And I don't mean to be rude I'm sorry if I came off that way
I know sometimes I'm not good at communicating what I actually mean
Words are hard
So, frankly
- do not add anecdotes
- cater to noobs, and popular beliefs somewhat
Well it's not about no anecdotes, just about keeping then in mind within the probabilities of the spawning system and average skill level of others is all
Whole reason why I edit the wiki in the first place was to try to spread my knowledges to others
I mean I once had no good weapons spawn in a fire station that doesn't mean they're bad for weapon spawns
And that's good all I'm saying is keep other people's skill levels in mind. I'm not trying to erase your knowledge on PZWiki. Just a few things about your edit I disagreed with and I don't intend to destroy all youve built
Hence why we had this conversation and not an edit war
I'm sorry if I came off argumentative I didn't mean it that way
You've said that multiple times before π
I have a habit of repeating myself lol
Ok, you can remove the parts you disagree about
I'm just gonna make a few changes and then ping you and we'll come to an agreement
Personally one thing I really disagreed in the WP strategy section was how its said that "will overwhelm any player regardless of how prepared"
Yeah I don't have any intention of restoring that that was too much lol
God damn it I once had an impromptu shotgun fight and won in a WP helicopter event
Yeah I'm leaving that one out that was too far lol
Guns in WP are very fun
And very handy
Agreed
Tbh I don't use em much but in wp there kinda mandatory lol
Otherwise you get exhausted
And then
OR, you can take it slow, and change your game character exhaustion, into your own mental exhaustion
@rotund echo I just saved my changes to the west point page. I wanted to combine your changes with mine, keep most of the overall meaning intact but just change some of the wording and add a few things. What do you think? Open to feedback π
Ok, it's good
Ok just wanted to make sure we were both happy with it. I didn't want this to become a major issue
You change your mind ping me and I'm happy to discuss whatever π
No problems with the new edit
I was thinking of adding a parent build link to each minor one
Nah, I think it's good for it to stay, project page will be there for historical reasons anyway
page revision? as in oldid to see b41?
If so, won't history be enough for that?
that was ad.1 and maybe ad2. , the rest seems fine
Is that today's revision? If so, I'll take a look, didn't see anything worrying before
(oh wait, nvm, I think you solved it already :P)
should be all moved now, the pages indeed needs ironing though
I wonder if this is really needed @proud cobalt β technically the page will have a build 41 to indicate it's outdated, it technically could be improved now too, but I agree with the radical fishing changes in build 42, it may be of a short purpose
Im assuming you meant to link the fishing page. I replaced Improve to Rework. With B42 so close i would highly discourage anyone put effort into improving that page, it will all go to waste, instead now its in rework because it will have to be re-done for B42 overhaul. Makes it easier to find, and know what needs to be done, even if short lived
Will do now thanks
Done
I don't think this is worth splitting
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Duffel_Bag
Has a different name though
the different duffel bags aren't meant to be recognisable as different items, it's just a hack for their loot system
it would be very weird to split them imo
I get the point and your'e probably right, though keep in mind the old fishing could still serve some use till b41 will hit stable/multiplayer π€ The problem we've been talking about I guess; on one hand not wanting to hinder our progress on the other hand it's still valuable info (guess that should technically the history section serve for, but hard to show all the differences for the pages as old like that :D)
Also, I think maybe instead of Rework a Note would be be better? It would prevent a page from appearing in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance for now, and up to the release of b42 there's nothing yet to rework yet.
Also definitely should make it a task for b42 project @digital helm
There are some niche stuff (omissions btw), that most of these bags come in specific colors, other than that, yeah
Also, Trauma Bag is split https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Trauma_Bag but indeed just the different name + skin
The only bag I'd consider splitting to make our life easier would be military bag, as it has a different icon and texture (hence the model), and also item that may most likely be renamed uniquely
I actually went ahead and split it https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Duffel_Bag and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Duffel_Bag_(military)#History β the military variant just misses the history and code @proud cobalt https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Duffel_Bag_(military)#History
But it was already in Site maintenance its just in a more appropriate category when B42 releases?
I'll add these when I'm on my pc
dunno, I changed it to note=warn for now and added as a task to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Build_42_Preparation#Job_board so we won't forget, I think should be fine π
I'm happy with that, so long as it can't be forgotten
@proud cobalt is this edit fine? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Big_Spiffo&curid=34597&diff=633591&oldid=629315 Or are we gonna bring back the location table information word-by-word too? (Thinking about it now, maybe it should be added to the template instead?)
The https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Empty_Pop_Can should have the Pop links adjusted too, right now they all link to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Pop π
Can't burn it in because of having more than one table on some pages. Looks terrible. I'm fine with it, apart from the double period which I've now fixed
In see also?
I adjusted them now, the ones in the text were linking to regular one too π
November 2024 wiki summary is up at https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:News#November_2024_summary <@&1205891296565268520>s! Hopefully, the last one before build 42 π€. Stay tuned as there might be more summaries from the other project leaders too, I'll add them as they come!
is it true that you're 4'2
So true
NO WAY, I'm listed in there.
That's sick
Makes me look like Ive done much π
When its mostly your and calvys contribs and me just being enthusiastic about history in the free time
well, the wiki is all about that π
even minor things that come from being enthusiastic about something contribute to the bigger picture π
And even if not someone directly doing the edit, is prompting into the right direction that often matters π
Hey, that's me! Hooray!
Good job to everyone who made minor or major contributions to the wikipedia during November.

https://pzwiki.net/wiki/The_Forgotten_Element is up based on the info I could find. I'll add images source, and remove duplicates. Also found one more trivia suggested by @digital helm that I missed that the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Annesia_perfume_for_her_billboard.png seems to be Mia.
Things I've been wondering:
- Whether to add the story overview? The most detailed one is in http://www.adventurelantern.com/Previews/forgottenElement/forgottenElement.htm and I don't want to blatantly copy it, then there are some at https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/ags-games-in-production/the-forgotten-element-new-screenshot-rain-effects-and-new-town-pic/
- Should we list the characters too? I couldn't find most info about the third character from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:FE_Characters.gif and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:FE_Wallpaper_Lei01_1024.jpg βΒ also it seems there are two separate characters as seen https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:The_Forgotten_Element_screenshot_2.png and on the summary β Mei and regular nurse? These are easy to confuse, too.
Most of the Forgotten Island content seems to be lost due to time, with the website being hosted on the now dead CG Empire, as long with the forums. I linked all the sources I could find. If anyone have more info, feel free to add!
The Forgotten Element - NEW SCREENSHOT (Rain effects and new Town pic) | Adventure Game Studio
When was it developed though?
oh and whether to make several galleries, too
- Screenshots (all images are 320x200px), this includes character photos
- Wallpapers (1024x768)
- Animations (two are 64x64, one is 128x128)
- The rest
2006 and before
As per http://www.adventurelantern.com/Previews/forgottenElement/forgottenElement.htm
The Forgotten Element is designed to have three separate acts. The first act of the game is scheduled for a 2006 release.
links and all the info pretty much stopped by 2010 though
Aight, was just wandering where to put it in both Chris Simpsons and Andy Hodgetts page
this is of interest too https://web.archive.org/web/20100705163300/http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/user/CaptainBinky (last onlike 2008 at the time of archival, lemmy's profile too https://web.archive.org/web/20100611011950/http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/user/lemmy101
For those wondering, no, it wasn't TIS at the time, though Mash and Nickstein were involved later too. Here's a bit of discussion from back on 2020 on Discord (though it wasn't released it seems) #pz_b42_chat message
I opened the web archive page of the forgotten element and thought there was nothing in it
yeah, website is badly archived sadly, some images are there on CG Empire (which was used to host the content, the website was available under http://www.cgempire.com/forgottenelement β the forgottenelement.com seems to be just a domain
that's where images from https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/ags-games-in-production/the-forgotten-element-new-screenshot-rain-effects-and-new-town-pic/ were hosted too β most were archived, except for https://cgempire.com/forgottenelement/images/mia_titlescreen.jpg
The Forgotten Element - NEW SCREENSHOT (Rain effects and new Town pic) | Adventure Game Studio
So that's where the old forum slogan came from lol https://lemmyandbinky.blogspot.com/2006/11/so-you-want-to-be-indie-developer.html
Forgot to add these as trivia, we may not have them uploaded as they are not movable https://map.projectzomboid.com/#13593x5879
Funny how the only mention of The Forgotten Element on the forum is my post π https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/24289-list-of-world-tiles-that-cant-be-picked-up/page/2/#findComment-298633
oh, I realized that Mia has blue eyes and nurse has dark eyes, it's visible even on the smallest tiles, so easy to distinguish
Also, Mia is always barefoot
I also wonder if any of the remaining unidentified posters from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Painting are any references to The Forgotten Element. I remember @tulip kiln was doing research on this? (This page needs splitting too, pinging @proud cobalt in case we have any plans for it?)
ah, some more Forgotten Element stuff! https://web.archive.org/web/20080106091035/http://lemmyandbinky.com/category/forgotten-element
Another lost screenshot sadly https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.cgempire.com/forgottenelement/images/FE_Screenshot_05.png
Apparently there were 1600x1200 wallpapers too, but these are not archived, sadly https://web.archive.org/web/20071102180444/http://www.cgempire.com/forgottenelement/downloads.html
Done that, now neatly sorted π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/The_Forgotten_Element#Gallery
There are few images lost, but the ones archived are there
oh, I can see where the newspaper image came from now: https://web.archive.org/web/20071010061103/http://new.bigbluecup.com/yabb/index.php?topic=25205.0

I also see where the cover image came from, there seems to be beta testing even? https://web.archive.org/web/20071025101936/http://www.cgempire.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=46
A free 2D point and click adventure by Lemmy&Binky
ah, apparently it never happened
If you would like to be involved in beta testing the AGS plug-ins, or indeed the Forgotten Element, please reply to this thread.
Thank you,

This one's lost too https://cgempire.com/forgottenelement/images/FE_Title.gif

I thought Nickenstien was a type, but apparently that's how Nick was called?
Okay, back to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/The_Indie_Stone βΒ I don't suppose Fenris Wolf, Eris, ProfMobius, MadDan and LeonKiel have wiki accounts we could link to?
Anyway, I think I'm happy with the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/The_Forgotten_Element for the most part β if anyone have anything to add, feel free!
@proud cobalt why is this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Evangelical_Banner particular article in need of rework?
I just wish it would be https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Autogenerated_articles_(Blogs)&action=edit&redlink=1 (blogs) π
These seems to need acknowledgement still
Added it to the job board, it should just be a meta article
