do you think it's necessary having a dev one?
Not particularly, just tiles and any items that were missed
I even missed Experimental Combat Build
Player should get one, i just dont know where π€
I wasn't sure either
Maybe just NPC... Even though its counter-intuitive, i think it makes sense
it'd go with zombie
Oh https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_survivors its called, so best fit there, though zombies arent survivors
That might get combined with animals, and potentially renamed to be more inclusive?
Do you think it should be with hunting and livestock being expanded in B42?
something like how this category is split https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:AI
- AI
- Animals https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_animals
- Survivors (or renamed to something for zombies?) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_survivors
Is there a best way i can mark these uniquely for nuke? A category or speedy delete?
just do speedy delete
i's reserved for spam/advertising, but we don't really get that these days
Yeah had that 1 for USA flag last week which was a little funny. The filter does a pretty good job
And i've not once been pulled up by it in 7500 edits
it's so much better these days
It stopped working once and I spent an entire day deleting spam as it came in until Kirrus could fix it. So it's definitely doing a LOT
Whos running these spam bots though. Surely they just dont work
I think the same about scam calls and emails (the obvious ones), but they must be getting some people
I checked the filter a couple days ago. Was like 2 false positives, out of 145 hits
They do work for most out of the box mediawki installs, cos its out of the box filtering is nonexistent
Weird that they don't have at least something
@languid kayak LSU Has stone fence as a part of one of its signs, should I include it?
Oh the wiki supports the dark theme! What a wonderful feature!
and we'll be switching to the citizen skin after the weekend https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Axe&useskin=citizen
Has both light and dark theme along with customisable page width, all without having to log in
uses users system theme by default
So our customized vector dark theme is obsolete? π
It will go back to light mode for users that like the vector layout
yep... spent a whole weekend doing it too π© we'll be reverting it back to default eventually
But it was a good mid-point
The new skin comes a little late. π
that skin is a mess
I did it after seeing your to do list, helps keep track of what is being worked on
Is the 41 update project completely finished?
Yep, any last pieces were moved to B42 preperation project, which will turn into the B42 project
Categories project was also completed
But the task list seems longer than I saw before. π
π It got pretty short at one point https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=PZwiki:Tasks&oldid=282583, Faal likes to keep busy
With most project moving pretty slow alot of the tasks are getting done and replaced with new ideas
Oh so many projects have been closed.
Yes we have the new Lore project too
removed and future traits all have their own articles now, and the character stats navbox has been properly updated to reflect that as well, so that task can be crossed off now
@swift warren can I have your opinion on this?
Wha
The N and O are missing a piece in em
I thought I was going crazy and missed something
Awesome job, ill mark that off for you
Lol how does that even happen. Also fyi there's a small piece of another sign at the bottom of this
Interested in other's thoughts on this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User_talk:Sarah52#Generic_tile_pages @languid kayak @proud cobalt
tl;dr turning the 'generic tile pages' like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Faucet into a page like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Containers instead of a disambiguation page
Example https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fence
I think Sarah has good points
I agree they are much more valuable than disam pages. I'm going out atm but if you're free could you add a note about it to SYF? That way when the collection of tiles are looking better I can start to organise them like this and know what pages are needed. I've don't a couple hundred image fixes this morning, I think I'll split them into categories next
will do
The way the list of tiles is presented currently needs to be adjusted, as it's not very mobile friendly. I'll work on this
It is also not in a particularly good order. For example look at the three segments for bar wall
And is missing the louisville tiles from Faals subpage
No I think. Just keep the English pages as clean as they are. Only Non-En users will need to translate the page. It's not the excuse to add extra elements on the English pages.
Then how do you suppose we bring attention to articles that desperately need translation and are several revisions out of date, I.e. Muldraugh/de?
I'd say waiting for the translation extension. It has better tools to solve this.
Currently there is no best way to automatically mark page that need to be translated after you update the English page. I thought of using the revision page mbox but not good. So I just did nothing and waiting for Kirrus's response.
Intentional :P
There were so many details that my 2000x2000 tileset wasnt big enough
Much better on mobile now
So you just replaced the table with a div and now it dynamically updates?
Replace old "Ingredients" section links to recipe ingredients with the new one (these require some research, some were changed manually, but many but don't link correctly at this moment, most notably in crafting recipes, though both the recipe ingredients page and crafting templates may be split/redone)
Not sure whos task this was, but happy to look into this now that bot tasks is thinned out a little. Just want some more info about what needs to be done
@digital helm @languid kayak
yeah. It uses block and inline-block with the gallery-list class https://pzwiki.net/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css#L-1144
I think this was Faal, but I think some recipes are linking to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients which should be changed to the dedicated page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Evolved_recipes but I think some may still be missing
This is probably more of a manual task than a bot task
After some feedback for tile categories please

I think they're really good.
Entertainment tiles (Maybe not final name?)
Assuming this is things like TVs and Radios, so I'd go withCommunication tiles, to stick with in-game category and the items. Or even just re-use the items one, since they're all placeable tiles. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Communications
Ovens (Or 'Heat sources'?)
To me heat sources feels like something that provides heat (for the player) rather than something that cooks food - something I'd considered changing since b40 came out
Paintings (Maybe 'Art tiles' or 'Wall decoration tiles'?)
Previously I had thoughtWall decorations, to include things like mirrors. That orWall decoration tilesworks
Ok thinking about it, i don't think we need Entertainment,
How about Cooking appliances
Wall decoration tiles sounds best too
I'm happy with cooking appliances
I think you pretty much aced it first go
Sorry about recent changes
Ir was mine, there are some links that link to sections, but they'd have to be listed manually,, if you'll have trouble, I'll take a look
was supposed to reply to here, replied from mobile notification lol
When B42 hits we'll be really torn between editing and playing π
Player should get the survivor one I guess, technically it's the survivor, especially if you consider playing as Bob or Jane Doe.
can you link to example?
not too late, at least before b42 π
Nice catch, might be worth checking in-game to be 100% sure but something bug-report worth I guess
Actually why not? I have done so for some of the item types like Firearms
Thats the problem, I dont know part of which one they should be
I'd scrap the "tiles" part when not needed?
They look like ones from near bushes
you think of including the wall? I'd not I guess?
Since there are exactly 3 stonewall tiles that are present in a "one off signs" category
I dont know why they are considered as signs and not as walls/fences
That looks like an another bug π
Ill check them out more closely when Im back home
Hm, do we prefer to have just generic televion instead one for each TV type? Refering to
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Valutech_Television&curid=43845&diff=359463&oldid=359069
Yeah the television page has enough info imo
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Television
Unless we'll want to split it π
If we got more variants maybe
Anyway, about the recipe ingredients, the ones that link to sections that have e.g., uppercase "Ingredients" and those links are broken, but I can't find which π€ https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Recipe_ingredients
But yeah, they'd ideally be split and revamped into dedicated pages. Smaugoferebor started the work briefly, but it is left in just basic state. The page itself is largely outdated anyway, with some comments in the code saying things as old as <!-- Last updated Build 34.28 --> Quite big task to tackle, so no one went into it, just doing small fixes here and there π
You can take a look at the old layout in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Navigation_and_Categories/Category_tree for reference too, when I'll haved some time I'll remove the red links there as well
I wonder if modding should have a different colour to game and meta pages, as it doesnt really fit in either π€
Since it is seperated too
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Main
Three colors? That could actually work, the yellow would probably be fitting
Something to add to project modding for throughts
BTW, about tiles naming we briefly discussed with Vail "Traversable" instead of "Barriers", as that's the tiles that allow you to traverse through
I like this
Is there a yellow already? I was thinking green
Once i finish categorising i can do any name changes easily with the bot
Something like this but works with the blue a little better
Pinging @digital helm for thoughts of the overall idea too
I don't mind the idea. I actually first picked blue for modding since it matched the blueprint from spiffo's workshop π so I'd just reverse it, personally
We were considering removing the different colours early this year/late last year
New colours for meta articles?
Something like this
yeah. Except the green really needs to be adjusted π
yeah, doesn't work with the link colour
Here's some of the colours I had played with previously. Infobox used to be a different colour based on the type
All colours except community and default were taken from the book icons
It's hard to get an orange thats still readable. I think orange is the best bet if we change meta colour
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Appliances (Appliance free too)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Walls (Wall free too); should be a free category if we change to traversable
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Comfort (Comforts free too)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Signs (Sign free too)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Gravestones (Gravestone free too)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Floors (Floor free too)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Lighting (Lightning free too); maybe https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Lights though (Light free too)?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Plumbing (Plumbings free too)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Vegetation (Vegetation is free too)
Not sure why Decorations got changed to Decoration tiles too? Guess it can be reverted.
Others should stay as is (Entertainment tiles, Container Tiles, Miscellaneous tiles)
Stairs would go to traversables following the change.
Not sure we'd need the redirects from plural to singular and I guess plural is preferred as did with items, except for things that are unaccountable.
There's also https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Entertainment (it hosts TV/Radio/Walkie talkies)
that one looks better
Note categories should never be a redirect. All you're redirecting is the link, pages will still get added to the redirect category. They're better off being deleted, so they're not used by accident
Users cant move without redirect afaik, i just havnt gone back to mark it for deletion yet
I see. I didn't know you'd moved them. I thought Faal was asking if we should add redirects π
I actually considered, yeah, but category redirects are bad indeed so your point stands π
I feel like the distinction of tiles is worth it for some of the categories though. Like vegetation tiles implies that its not just actual plants. Does that make sense?
as compared to things like crop seeds or fruit/vegetable food?
I was looking at this today. The ingredient lists are massive... but necessary https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Soup#Ingredients. Not sure they should be collapsible either. Something like this may help, which will adjust based on screen size
Crops is kinda subcategory of it too π€
You can add beer in a soup?
I wonder though, as this could change, with those indoor plants, etc.
Took me by surprise too
You can do it in real life too π
π
These should probably be deleted
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:BrokenRedirects
Speaking of Entertainment/Communications, seems like TV, radio and walkie talkie are in both?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Communications
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Entertainment
Also, communication may be more fitting for these, I don't consider ham radios and walkie talkie "entertainment", actually the arcade machines are more likely to be classified as entertainment TBF.
Yeah crops could go into vegetation tiles. I added Wheat and full grown corn to crops even though theyre not specifically farmable
Jokes aside, maybe not for soup, but me and wife used to use beer for pancake recipe IRL lol
They're in communications as the header cat (at least for radio) and appliance tiles, entertainment, communications, and vehicle parts π€
I think we did that as part of navigation project, being quite liberal with secondary cats
yet π
It's fitting for both. Since you have the RadioData for the entertainment side
Not to say i disagree with it, i think it makes sense, categories dont have to be exclusive
gets pretty hard to organise (and even navigate) if do make them exclusive
Were we deleting the old items @languid kayak https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Hearty_Bowl_of_Soup&oldid=323209
Yeah, I redirected them to [[Soup]]
Good point about heat sources btw; Microwave isn't one for sure.
For Wall decorations, I decided to split them all into Curtains, and Mirrors in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tiles (Mirrors page was never created)
Weathered notices would go into trash
There are other things that correlate though, some drawings/signs are hanged (Muldraugh Elementary School for example), posters (movie ones), cork boards, flagsβ¦
I put mirrors and curtains into misc category right now but not against putting them in their own
Posters, cork boards etc i have put in wall decoration tiles
I thought we were keeping them for historical reasons
Same with weathered notices, would they be better in a trash category?
Curtains and mirrors are really the only functional ones. I'd say put all the others in a generic category
There's barricades too (metal/wooden) on Windows, these are technically tiles
I'm not sure but I think weathered noticed or posters can't be used as fuel (yet?)
And I always complained about wall clock not showing time when you are in the room without a watch on hand π
I think I remember your forum post π
Theyre still decoration though right? Best fit in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Wall_decoration_tiles
If they can't be used as fuel as trash, I guess better to leave them there, yeah
They are kind of decoration after all π Both for players and IRL can be too
As far as subcategories goes, the main page is where I put some effort (mirrors what's in Tiles page)
Will look at updating this too if we make some more of these #pzwiki_editing message
Also, why Electroics are under Decoration? I don't get it?
Only the decoration tiles were meant to be in it, non functional electronics
Arcade machines etc
And finally, I guess Plumbing and Water sources should be merged into one?
I agree, i didnt really notice plumbing existed
Only about 100 pages left to categorize before ill do the name changes, just taking a break after doing 650 of them and league international is on
Unless they will be made functional π Though apparently they kinda serve purpose, they emit sounds when connected to power grid, though not sure if it attracts zombies or drains any geneator power. I think they don't emit light (yet)
I'd actually let go of plubming in favor of water sources? Though not sure, we have https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Plumbing page that'd have to be renamed too (over a redirect, as it hosts quite important info about how plubing works)
Not sure it has to be renamed just category changed π€
So "Tiles > Water sources" as header/category and "Plubing" as page name?
Yeah
Speaking of, should be Refrigerators instead of Fridges, I guess https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Appliances#Refrigerators
or we can change to Fridges in there?
Refrigerators is a bit more professional, but called fridge in Tdefs
yeah π
Thoughts on dulling these colours a little?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Fixing_condition
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Fixing_condition&oldid=346049
@digital helm Your template originally
Fridge is more informal, though by the time game setting takes place, it'd be well-known (apparently it was 20th centuary). Also there seems to be no preference between US/UK spelling
More readable in light mode imo
yes, that's good. I was thinking similar recently, just didn't get around to it
Tiles are called fridges, and tdefs are fridge. I guess we should go with fridge then
Quick google search revealed some folks refer to "fridges" as something that doesn't have freezer (we have such tile in games), though I don't think that's the case π
I've never heard that before π€
ngram for those curious https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=fridge%2Crefrigerator&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&corpus=en-2019&smoothing=3
Google Books Ngram Viewer.
Pretty much perfect timing for fridge to become more common
I want to know what caused the drop from 40s-70s
Because theres no jump in fridge
Google Books Ngram Viewer.
I updated the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Navigation_and_Categories/Category_tree with the traversable changes and with some of the "categories" from main page and Tiles, the Comfort and Storage (Containers) not yet added (I just left the mark as a comment for later).
Some names differ (Communication vs Communications) and not sure about baths and showers (showers don't hold water and are not pickable currently, not sure if it ever changes and it seems there's just one bath type now).
All names avoid tiles when possible, but some names might change (like the Vegetables), so feel free to comment.
I have to go now, so hopefully I'll get back to it later π
So, these walls are called "signs"
They cant be picked up
Wat
Why tf does this cabin in the abandoned village has ammo in it
hunting cabin I guess
Each time I checked it - there were almost no loot there
Because its a hunting ground&camp and not a village
It is just that
I aint seeing a church in a hunting camp
Nor a pigsty
And apart from this hunting shack, there are no other hunting related loot in here
Nor is there any loot in general tbh
Apart from one crate that spawns living room items
Hunting Ground, Camping Ground, even Abandoned Settlement is fine
Never seen villagers sharing a public toilet
Yeah, sucks that it isn't defined anywhere
We had this discussion before? Maybe you missed it. It's a hunting cabin, that's why I wasn't so eager to call it "village" π
Interested in thoughts on this https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=User:Vaileasys/Sandbox&useskin=citizen
It's for the ingredients on evolved recipe pages since there can be a lot https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Soup#Ingredients
On touchscreen it's a press, otherwise it's a hover
This is really nice, But some way to indicate its hover/clickable is needed i think
I was thinking a note at the top. Do you think that'd be enough?
This could be really nice across the whole site tbh. But good to start with one section
Yeah if not too explicit even
I had a related discussion with Faal about doing this https://starcitizen.tools/LeMarque_Pants_Dark_Red#Model for the weird clothing variants we have. Or especially in b42 with all the new weapon/tool variants we'll likely have
Which part exactly π€
Unless im missing something i dont think their implementation is better than ours
the images. As we currently have no good way of navigating between different variants
E.g. currently https://pzwiki.net/wiki/T-shirt is only one variant. The solution to show all the variants, is going to the items page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Clothing#T-shirts
I'd expect this to only be a 'related' items. So instead of listing EVERY t-shirt, it'd be, e.g. on the Military Desert Camo T-shirt, it'd be the other miltiary t-shirts
I remember our discussion about a settlement
Its looks like its just a gallery with links and using the page preview extension like they have on Wikipedia. Something we could definitely do even without the extension
But on that page hover over the dimensions and see how they have a little popup with unit conversion. I just tested and that works on mobile, how possible is that?
That would solve all the tooltip issues we have even with transcripts
That'd be possible. I was thinking the same with experimenting with the ingredients
We'd change the implementation. Just seemed like a good solution for b42
Its hard to inspect it because it dissapears when you move the mouse lmao. They call it class tippy-popper
So its like a see also but using images, i like it
Theres going to be so many items...
They seem to be using js for it, but should be do-able without. Just may be a bit more annoying to implement
Text is easy, keep the underline. Obvious to the user without needing a "Click here" label
source btw https://projectzomboid.com/blog/news/2024/04/dya-like-them-grapplez/ lots more there
Welcome all, to Knox Event proceedings on this fair spring morning. Whatβs up first? LIFEβS A DRAG Something that, clearly, was fundamental to Build 41 was the new animations system β and thus far for Build 42 we havenβt mentioned any improvements to this. Importantly, it should be underlined that his work isnβt in the [β¦]
yeah, theirs isn't very obvious. Took more a minute to realise what you were referring to π
I only happened to stumble upon it, their page sources confuse me. Its all templates
https://starcitizen.tools/index.php?title=LeMarque_Pants_Dark_Red&action=edit
But its also all lua
I actually got the ingredients idea from their mboxes https://starcitizen.tools/Template:Stub they're hover instead of click
Template:Stub is a template page used on the Star Citizen Wiki. Templates are pages that are embedded (transcluded) into other pages to allow for the repetition of information.
I was just looking at their mboxes lol
Theres no indication it expands though, which im not a fan of
I agree
I wonder how generic/specific the template should be? Should we have multiple templates where in this case the moodles shown in the drop down are decided in template, which would mean a new template for each use case. Or should they be done in article with the user specifying the icons to use
I know youre just testing currently, but food for thought
This is using a template. I think this implementation is fine. The only thing I'd consider changing is the parent div, should that be a template too?
<div style="display:block;">
{{User:Vaileasys/Sandbox|image=Acorn.png|item=Acorn|hunger=-10}}
{{User:Vaileasys/Sandbox|image=Avocado.png|item=Avocado|hunger=-15}}
{{User:Vaileasys/Sandbox|image=Baguette.png|item=Baguette|hunger=-5}}
{{User:Vaileasys/Sandbox|image=BeerBottle.png|item=Beer Bottle|hunger=-9}}
{{User:Vaileasys/Sandbox|image=BeerCan.png|item=Beer Can|hunger=-7}}
{{User:Vaileasys/Sandbox|image=BellPepper.png|item=Bell Pepper|hunger=-7}}
</div>
We could consider the contents to be a separate template though
*dropdown
I guess that'd make it usable elsewhere too
if possible, why not just have an indicator arrow like the ones on our current mboxes? Arrows are basically synonymous with collapsible sections anyway, so they probably should be enough of an indication that the box is expandable
I thought this too, that the arrow would be enough, but it came up as an issue previously. Which is why navboxes have hide/show on them π
If possible it may be the way to go, but it means hundreds of little arrows on pages like this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients#Rice_&_pasta_ingredients
really? weird
Also speaking of can i swap the colours to the same as the ones from last night @digital helm
I think arrows are plenty explicit
Light and dark mode old vs new
@languid kayak @naive imp would you be happy to remove the hide/show from the navboxes? I think you 2 were involved in the previous discussion. It also gets messed up on mobile. We can always change the arrow to a different icon if that's more explicit, like a plus/minus or up/down arrow
the red and green? yeah, go ahead
the header and infobox theme would need to be done css side
much better π
If we're gonna remove it the triangle 100 percent needs to become something far more obvious. I think the triangle should be changed on mboxes and all other collapsible elements as well because there's literally no indication that it expands the notice
example of plus/minus and up/down arrow
It's widely used on Chinese oni wiki, where I found the idea on. So I guess It's not that bad.
the plus/minus would be the easiest implementation. simple 1:1 replacement
oh the oni wiki uses + symbol. I missed it.
I think a drop down menu arrow is perfect
Makes it immediately obvious that it can be expanded bc everyone knows what those arrows mean
I think our arrow indicates up and down enough but maybe im wrong
it's a simple enough change, if it reduces any confusion
Material design is google btw*
I thought of up/down arrow on that time. Since it is on the right top corner of the element, I guess the right-top arrow would fit better. So I used it.
I think it's best to change it if we're removing the show hide
We should also be able to keep 180 rotation with a vertical arrow
Even if we decide not to the triangle is too unconventional (which is saying something for me lol) that it causes confusion
Oh yeah I didn't even think of that
We'll look at changing it sometime soonβ’ then
Perfect. Gonna sleep now as it's 30 past midnight over here in freedom land
π¦
added to tasks https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#Admin_tasks
Proof of concept for toggleboxes: @digital helm @languid kayak @naive imp
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:ToggleBox
<div>{{#if:{{{title|}}}|{{{title}}}}}</div>
<div class="mw-collapsible {{#ifeq:{{lc:{{{collapsed|true}}}}}|true|mw-collapsed|}}" id="mw-customcollapsible-togglebox-{{{id|}}}">
{{{content|}}}
</div>
<div class="toggle large mw-customtoggle-togglebox-{{{id|}}}" title="{{int:show}}/{{int:hide}}"></div>
</div></includeonly>```
Common.css
```div.toggle::after {
content: "βΆ";
position: absolute;
top: 0.1em;
right: 0.4em;
font-size: 2em;
font-weight: bold;
transition: transform 0.3s cubic-bezier(0.65, 0.05, 0.36, 1);
}
div.toggle.small::after {
font-size: 1.1em;
}
div.toggle.large::after {
top: -0.15em;
right: 0.5em;
}
div.mw-collapsed + div.toggle::after {
transform: rotate(-180deg);
}```
Looks good. I hadn't considered the arrow icon, that'll be much quicker to implement. I'm happy to add it now, except with these changes from the current. No changes needed to templates, etc.
div.toggle::after {
content: "βΆ";
font-size: 1.4em;
transition: transform 0.3s linear
}
div.mw-collapsed + div.toggle::after {
transform: rotate(180deg)
}
actually, didn't realise the hide/show was the only template change you made π
your css changes seems to break other templates though, such as mbox and navbox
Hmm interesting, you could try just changing the arrow icon and see if that breaks it? i just thought it was a bit small
And then changing the size had to change its position
yeah, size is a bit small, but it's ok for now? #pzwiki_editing message These changes were minimal and didn't break anything
Thinking about it, maybe we should rename it to "Abandoned cabins site" or something like that
159/423
getting there
Template for this created https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Item_list
It has the ingredient parameters built into it, but with the option to expand it by using other templates in it. @proud cobalt
Basic usage
{{Item list|parent|
{{Item list|image=Acorn.png|item=Acorn|link=true}} <!-- no dropdown ->
{{Item list|image=Acorn.png|item=Acorn|some text}} <!-- custom dropdown -->
{{Item list|image=HerbBasil.png|item=Basil|hunger=-1|unhappy=-2|bored=-2}} <!-- using ingredient dropdown -->
<!-- other items go here -->
}}
Awesome ill play around with it
Trial in an article https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Soup#Ingredients
Does anyone know where does this logo belong to?
It isnt https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Offices , since this one is black while the one on the building is white
Nvm, found it
This looks really good.
Could it handle larger images like a gallery?
nah, the size is hardcoded. This was so you'd get a consistant box size
I could add other sizes though, or the option to change it manually
There are two Offices
definitely well deserved. The size of the task scared the rest of us off
What you've done is a good solution. I'd also turn the Offices page into a disambig page. Let me know if you need help with that. It'd be using {{Disambiguation}} and {{About}} . Example https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hunting_Vest_(disambiguation)
Like named one Offices(South)?
That was wrong
It is nowhere near South L
Hmm maybe wait until we have a use case for it
oh... I'm not sure how they're handled these days. Surely there's others in a similar situation. @naive imp
Have you looked at how it would work in infoboxes yet or should i look into it?
I haven't. But it'd be similar. Using :hover with a div
My concern is the edge of the screen, I don't think it'd adjust its position automatically
https://map.projectzomboid.com/#12778x1706
https://map.projectzomboid.com/#12482x1970
Links for "Offices"
To differentiate which is which
street names would've been nice π
It would be, yeah
The western one is close enough to the LSU to call it Offices LSU
If not, then "Offices Western Central Louisville"
Though back to the drawing board, which is something I mentioned, the Star Citizen wiki has one page for each color version π Though it could be an alternative to see alsos
or about
btw; you sure it's village? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Ruined_Village It has a school, a church, restaurant and shop, which would probably make it a small town I guess? Also, I'd call it burnt down I guess? (plus sentence case)
No, I wasn't sure with this one at all
And Im also not sure about whether its a school, library, townhall or kindergarten
Too small for a school
Yeah, we compromised but it was just one person who used Wikipedia and wanted PZwiki to be almost 1 to 1 copy (which we aren't), so it might be worth considering whether it's needed, same as VTE template.
Yeah, I'm fine π
There's empty drop shadow in the first list, mind you
Im fine with calling it Burned down town or something similar, it isn't that big of a deal
do you think it should be removed? I figured it might help with highlighting the selected one. Here it is without https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Item_list&useskin=vector-22
(noticed an issue with that skin here)
I'd say school, kindergarten wouldn't have books and library and townhall wouldn't have a playground
nah, shadow's good, but the one when there's nothing is confusing π€
Aight, Ill change the page and move it when Im back home
no problem. I'll remove it
This one to clarify π
Should we keep it "Ruined" or change it to "burned down" or just "Burned"
I'd consider even "Destroyed". My assumption is that it was destroyed by the military as it was a border town
Yea, maybe
@proud cobalt I guess it's no longer under construction? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Archive
Except maybe changing https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Archived_articles to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Archived_pages especially as it includes images? I remember briefly mentioning that before π€
Yeah lets do that
Just change cat and remove WIP pls
btw, now that all the pages are technically bumped to 41.78.16, what do we do with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version, especially the non-English one?
Only the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version itself and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Unknown_version have non-English counterparts, while the Version 41 and Version 41.78.16 are English-only. Should these be kept? Removed?
Also, are we keeping it as it is, or making some naming changes to it? We had discussion to potentially renaming it, but in the end we kept it as is.
Also, in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance (which itself needs more updates to include more pages, e.g., the ones I have listed and am eyeing in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Faalagorn) it'll permanently be stuck at "2", with no option to go to 0 as other categories can, potentially confusing people there's still work to do with that.
Pinging @digital helm for this, as you've been mostly involved with this category. π
I think remove the non-English ones (so long as they're unused) since they don't use any version tracking anymore. Version and Version 41 should be good to stay. It'll make keeping things organised easier when b42 and other versions come out.
currently it probably looks a bit silly, as there's 3 categories each with only 1 in them, but we've had plenty of time since any new builds, so lots of time to catch up
About the non-English, I guess I'll do that that, as they're only for English ones.
As far as actual tracking, I'm thinking, is there a way to count only pages that aren't specifically the latest version? Would be easier to keep the track of outdated pages easier.
@naive imp Is the laundromat(green) affiliated with the Gas N More?
It can be assumed so if it is attached and has no discernable sign differtiating jt
Thought so
Also, can you help with "Offices"?
should be doable. I'll look into it
I will in my lunch break. At work rn
Aight
This was actually really simple. Watch this slowly tick down https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version_41.78.16
@naive imp @languid kayak Do you think its a good idea to add in page for grocery stores, like the one for Laundromat?
That's what I was planning to do, with a format similar to the self storage page listing individual chains.
Feel free to do that, just follow the formatting on the self storage page
Added that to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Incontileve btw, I think it's just not in Easter eggs page yet
There is a small issue, there are "Corner stores" "Grocery stores" and "Convenience stores"
Listed on the page uunder the community tab
now the next step, any way to actually count pages in outdated categories in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance or are we changing it to count pages that are in 41.78.16 when first build 42 arrives?
I thought about putting them into one page, but just wanted to ask before doing so
Corner stores are basically convenience stores.
Convenience and grocery stores have different loot tables so they should be separated
neat π
corner store is a roomdef?
Yes
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Thumbs_of_green.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Location_restaurant_generic_01_46.png
These two are scheduled for deletion, but I guess we're keeping them as tiles?
Take a look at their loot tables and if they're similar to convenience stores I say include rhem
I'd instead suggest adding the outdated category to the page version template, for anything older than the current stable. Then we can leave Site maintenance as is
I would do that myself but I'm too busy atm
as is meaning leaving version stuck at at least 2 pernamently or removing it from the list? I imagine the end goal is to keep all the pages in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance at exactly 0 π€ (at least that's the case with other categories)?
Delete them
Ill either way repost them with proper transparency for tiles
Where exactly?
Is it in the code?
Oh, and a General Store
I just added the all u can eat tile to the gallery of the buffet page this week. Not sure why it was removed. It's unique to that store, and not necessary to have its own page imo https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Buffet&type=revision&diff=347333&oldid=322915 @naive imp
These are 4(6) store related roomdefs:
General store
Grocery
Corner Store
Convenience store
Zippeestore
Gigamart
outdated articles would end up being 0 so long as everything is at the current version, and the outdated mbox isn't used https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Outdated_articles
Many supermarkets have "Grocery" roomdef
Apart from gigamart
Good you left the "M" instead of "N" π
Probably yeah, seems they aren't movable (at least I can't find them being added by Calvy), so it'll take us time to add those tiles, though would probably feel better to remove them after the better replacements are added I guess π
I thought it was redundant, and also I think the quality is pretty bad. Could use some tlc.
If it seems like a supermarket I'd leave it out for their own page
ZippeStore can be considered a convenience store for purposes of the page, loot is practically identical
I saw it and couldn't bring myself to delete it, so reused it. That's the quality of the tile in-game. You're probably right about it being redundant though.
@proud cobalt @languid kayak what are your thoughts on this type of tile? Re https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Location_restaurant_generic_01_46.png it's not movable and is only found on windows at buffets. Best to delete?
Yeah if you think it's a supermarket I'd say just leave it for now and we'll have a supermarkets page later on, or maybe we'll include them at a later date if we decide against that
Then what about General stores?
Those go in a seperate page. Their loot is wildly different from grocery stores
So:
- Grocery store
- Convenience store, Corner store (Zippie)
- General store
- Supermarkets
Here's another use for it https://pzwiki.net/wiki/School_Bag#Usage i.e. content probability for bags
Yup. All in seperate pages with those as the title, using self storage page formatting, at least that's how I envision it. Lmk any suggestions π
"Unaffiliated" or "Unnamed"?
It doesn't really matter, but I think unaffiliated fits better because they're not in chains. At the end of the day though either is fine it'd not a big deal
Aight, will start with Corner stores after finishing up with another set of logos
Should I call it Convenience/Corner Stores or just Convenience Stores?
Hmm it doesnt seem that valuable to keep
I say this in the context of it having its own page. I dont have anything against it being in a gallery
Would be nicer than that long list
I did cover some non-movable ones in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tiles though never got to signs, could be put there, though it probably won't ever be movable as it's a painted over (and, unless something changed, floats over broken windows lol)
if we keep it, maybe it should be on the window page? or even combine the textures, showing it painted on a window
I've uploaded a few images of various building stories and I'm finding that the article is getting really difficult to read: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Survivor_stories
Would having all relevant images all compiled at the bottom of each section be preferable to having each image beside its respective building story? Each image is pretty large
Also we might want to consider reformatting the entire article, if not outright splitting it up into multiple separate ones, because it's an absolute eyesore right now
I say just convenience stores
So, "Convenience stores, also known as Corner stores"?
It is the unwanted child of oursπ
Nah, I see no reason to distinguish between the two. They serve Identical purposes and have very similar loot
Overthinking again lol
Remember keep it simple π
Almost everyone here had contributed to it, but no one wants to finish it
Agreed Bout splitting. I'll add a suggestion
Yep, 100% agree. I was going to look at splitting it #pzwiki_editing message and do a mockup today, but got side-tracked π© I only got as far as getting some screenshots
Yeah, I noticed the image, gallery at the bottom works, though OTOH the image being large (at worst they can be scaled) doesn't hurt; wouldn't it be better to have them in line so it's near the corresponding story? At worst something building multi location template can be made in pages like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hit_Vids!
Sorry, I missed this.
distro table is looking better now. The use of clear should be good to remove now, since the fixes to the tables. Percentages are great imo. I don't think including values for lucky/unlucky is necessary, as probability wouldn't change, I think it's just the number of rolls that increases.
The toggle box is my biggest concern currently. Multiple is a bit of an eye sore, but I have no good solution. Unless we could incorporate the new item list somehow https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Item_list
Zombie attached items and survivor stories will need to be added manually. This is all stored in java afaik. Again, maybe item list template to be more presentable?
Anyway, 185/423
Now its time for Convenience store
@naive imp Is this necessary?
Laundromat looks better without it imo
For now yeah, they've been a point of contention for a while though, what do you think @languid kayak @digital helm
Are there many pages like it? As in a generic business/location page. Seems similar to something like a "restaurant" page. For tiles we recently decided to keep the generic articles so they can be in more detail about the overall functionality. But the only thing really interesting about locations/businesses, is the lore, loot and safehouse potential. The safehouse potential and lore isn't relevant here, so the main thing we're looking at is the loot. But I'm indifferent.
Well, pages are fine, but I guess infobox isn't needed?
I recently removed the oens from the businesses that don't have a location, we briefly talked about them with Vail today
It was more about the infobox and it being sparse with content
Don't Dead, Open Inside
ah, yeah unneeded
Cool. @lucid junco feel free to remove
I link them at the main page too
There also pretty likely to come up in a search engine search jf created. Usually ppl don't search for a specific store
And more readers is good, could mean more editors too
I still have to make more generic pages for items such as https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Firearms or https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Weapon_parts for more things such as Jewelry
Those the pages still are due to revamp
Not from an searchbox, link or crealing a link within another page
So I just remove redirect?
Have to use the url bar or press the "redirected from"
yeah
Aight, thanks
yeah I think we should definitely split the article up and keep the current one as a more general article that leads into them. Itβs a bit of a stretch to refer to bread on a table as the same thing as the cops making a last stand (even if the game considers them the same)
Iβm planning to get rid of the βunwanted childβ later today once Iβm actually back on my PC, itβs been bugging me since forever
that sounded wrong whoops
nooo, my child
I agree. I think the descriptions you've given are good for that page, but each other page will need to go into more detail. The use of headings will need to be changed too. Maybe just dot points or definition lists ;title:text
@naive imp I feel like its a bit too short
Use a table to list all the chains like we have with liquor store and self storage
sorry for being that guy but I think βover the counter drugβ should be plural like the rest of the sentence
I know, Im specifically talking about everything but the list
Eh, could always expand on it later
If you don't I will lol
How dare you share your opinion about my article?!
Ill start using caps and blocking your messages!/s
How dare you talk back to the grammar police?!? Youβve already broken the law, donβt give us more incriminating evidence so we can put you in prison!! /s
@naive imp Is food market a grocery store or a supermarket chain?
Grocery store, that one big ass one is an outlier
You could probably include it in both like Nourish Food Mart
Anyway is there anything else to do related to the locations and maps project? Or are we just waiting for B42 when they drop the new towns into the game?
Adding in this summer(?) camp
Adding back removed locations from towns(eg Kate&Bob house, fenced community, secure houses ect), Ive personally butchered them while standardizing businesses since they were for some reason merged together.
Many, and I mean Tons of businneses in Louisville lack proper description
And galleries
ok so thereβs still stuff to do
cool cool
Iβll see what my PZ photography skills can contribute later
And double checking every business chainπ
Mainly Seahorse and Zippee
@languid kayak
Its library in the roomdef
what are we checking for anyway?
Locations
While doing Central L businesses part, I found out that many seahorse buildings were left out for some reason
And Im a bit busy(lazy) to add them myself
Oh, and creating General store, Grocery store and Supermarket pages
@naive imp Is this an Unnamed Laundromat or is it a part of ZIppee
It shares entrance and building, doesn't have a definite name
I know that its like the Gas N More one, but still would like to hear your opinion
I'd probably keep it with zippee to avoid bloat
Too late for that
14 unnamed laundromats
I predict the same with convenience stores, grocery stores, general stores and even supermarket
I personally didn't expect so many supermarkets being unnamed, but there is only one actual, 100% supermarket chain - Gigamart
Nourish and Food markets are both groceries and supermarkets(of sorts)
And that's about it
Surprising that something that is actually one of the biggest and important buildings to be nameless
But oh well
damn I didnβt know there were that many Zippee markets
Just wait till you see how many Seahorse cafes are out there
and 80% of them are in Louisville
Thats the list that ive come up with
All of them are either corner stores or conv stores
yeah, I noticed that. I was thinking the library was part of a school, but I started having second thoughts too that's why I left it untouched π€
seems the schools (at least the Muldraugh ones) use classroom tiledef, so it might indeed not be a school
Checked LV, Riverside and others, all use classroom or classroom2 so it might indeed not be a school
There are libraries in schools though https://map.projectzomboid.com/#6440x5449x5682
How would that not be a school if there's literally classrooms lockers and a cafeteria
I don't understand
The burnt one? We're talking about building here: https://map.projectzomboid.com/#13696x4052x8182
We're not sure if it's a school or a library or god-knows-what π
Might indeed be a library (or a town hall), seeing as the playground is separated by a fence
I initially assumed it's a part of ther building and it has to be a school (or kindergarten), which might not be a case indeed
anyone want to check over my redesign for the main survivor stories article before I make it official? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Mid/sandbox/survivor_stories_test_mid
Basically instead of this article trying to list every single story possible, it only provides an overview of the four types of survivor stories and lists a few of the most notable ones, with a link to an article that goes over stories of that particular type in more detail
It looks great. Still considering whether to have a separate page for each event though. I agree that listing them on that page will still create too much bloat
I mean if we keep everything centralized there's going to be bloat no matter what
I'll try to see if I can come up with something that lists everything without being too bloated
I'm finding that having the images beside each description won't work because the image ends up being larger than the corresponding text blob and everything ends up not being aligned: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Mid/sandbox/survivor_stories_bloated_mid
The only other options I've come up is either putting all the images in a gallery under their corresponding header or we put them in a table similar to how locations of businesses are listed on the wiki
or y'know, just split the article π
That's been a common problem. Really depends on the screen size, as it looks great on mobile. The solution is using {{clear}} before the new section.
The images look really good next to the text imo. The only concern with using clear is it can result in empty space, but you have to make compromises somewhere.
sure, I'll try using clear and see how that'll go
it doesn't actually look half bad actually
it's just a lot of vertical/blank space
alright I filled in all the images that I've uploaded and paired them with their corresponding description
let me know if it works because I don't want to start screenshotting the other stories until we have a format that we like
It's looking a lot like the existing survivor stories page now.
I liked how you had it before https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=User:Mid/sandbox/survivor_stories_bloated_mid&oldid=361767
Having 1 image per story group as a preview. We could consider doing this on the group page instead, e.g. "building stories". But I still think a separate page for the more interesting pages, i.e. not table stories.
yeah that was what I was thinking of originally
well it didnβt hurt to try
Iβll experiment with it more tomorrow
it looks like Iβm going to go back to working on the unbloated version I had: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Mid/sandbox/survivor_stories_test_mid
since weβre no longer working with a bloated design it doesnβt make sense to keep using the version with βbloatedβ in its name
@languid kayak Did you want all angles of tiles?
I'll hopefully put together a mock-up of the dedicated page today
Btw if you don't want any user page anymore, just add {{Deletion}}
alright Iβll keep that in mind
still gonna keep it though for now in case I have a big brain moment and figure out how to make it work
A bit unnecessary imo. But may be a 'nice to have' for the infobox
@naive imp @languid kayak Should we count overall number of locations within one business, or only those that are appropriate for the page?
I think Faal did want them but i think its a bit overboard
Milk n more has 5 stores in general, but only one is a convenience store
So I was thinking about putting it in conv store page with 1, and on a grocery page with 4
Looks good, I just did some minor changes to it
I think template like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Building_multi_location would get the work done, if listing them as such is out of question
This one's to list all the stories in one page? No point IMO, if they are listed on a dedicated pages
I'd actually go away with notable story ones; that's what the main pages are for
I thought of that, but it's like low low priority. Like the rotating 3D models
I wouldn't put much effort into it TBH
Don't business have its own page though? But yeah, there'd be some crossover on pages listing the franchise and a shop type.
Better off using a table than a template for something like that imo.
That one isn't even necessary, it's just a different way of writing a table
Im mainly referring to this change by Thinkdock
Ive written 1 for milk n more (since only 1 store has roomdef conv store and looks like conv store) and 2 for Martin's (since third is a gas station, both by look and roomdef)
That may look too tedious and detailed, but it would make more sense for something like a supermarket
Nourish foodmart and Food markets are both grocery stores and a supermarkets, but it doesn't make sense to write the overall amount of locations into both grocery page and supermarket page
That's why Id count and write the amount of supermarkets and grocery stores separately
yeah, not a template for one page (or a few pages actually) indeed π
We kinda have a similar issue with pros-cons, it's a really simple template that basically just creates a table.
what you wrote makes sense for me, though I didn't check it; pinging @naive imp for that
Although I did check all the milk n more and all are grocery roomdef⦠you mean the layout is different?
But yeah, just one Martin is hosting a store indeed, the other being gas station and the third just a laundry
(for those wondering it's this change btw https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Convenience_store&type=revision&diff=361687&oldid=361679)
boxy? Can you link it :P?
All are in LV though https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Milk_N_More#Locations
One is in Riverside
Wiki has wrong coords
Im referring to this one, near TIS construction
ah, makes sense
Yeah, sorry for not giving the link directly
unrelated, in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Milk_N_More I'm thinking whether we should put alt text for SEO or when image is not loaded/can't be seen, the "drinks", "food" and "lottery" of the sign is nowhere in the page π
np, luckily you had coord on the side π
So yeah, 1 Milk n More conv store
Two conv stores, one gas station
right, my bad
but yeah, I guess your way was the right one, not all locations of a franchise are of same type, kinda reminds me the situation with Gigamart HQ and Gas 2 Go (or was it Fossoil?) rafinery
Both refineries
Speaking of Fossoil, the stdium is named after them IIRC, not sure if it's mentioned in the fossoil page?
Not sure either
How can I revert changes?
Oh, forgot to log in
How do I
Aight, I think I'll better be doing it proper when Im back home
I can do that, but what about Unaffiliated ones?
I guess there are four? And yeah, now to think of, without coordinates it's not so obvious lol
4, 3 in Central LV, 1 in WP
How bout doing it like Ive done with Gas stations?
Something like this
Chains
Chains
Chains
Maybe being more descriptive, instead of rewording "We don't know its name"
Does tilezed just not work when unpacking floors or vegetation? Is this a known thing? its driving me mad
do you mean the floors and vegetation prefix? Because that seems to be working fine for me
Do you have Vegetation_ornamental_01_25
here's all my vegetation
seems there's a lot missing π€
can get it directly from the spritesheet
Yeah many many of the floors_ are missing
yeah, you're right. I've only got the burnt and some sand
@proud cobalt extracted from Tiles2x.floor.pack
all the flooring is in there too
Cheers ill try that
Instead of saying unknown location or possible x location, creating a whole paragraph about "we couldnt figure this out, its impossible to detect" is not healthy for both readers and editors (mainly translators). Mainly because maybe it is somehow possible to associate that location that we have not yet discovered. Also the information feels too extra.
Maybe write a small description?
For every single businesses, building that doesnt have full evidence of belonging to a chain?
Yep
Something like this
Thats better imo
These 4 are currently used
Im personally in favor of ether listing each unnamed business individually or putting them into separate list like I did
@languid kayak @naive imp What do you think?
(Its more of a question for all of you hereπ)
I like how you've done it here. With the changes suggested by Ksilem.
The descriptions add a lot
It feels like a more of a middleground between just linking it and creating a page about it
Example of bag content probability using Template:Item_list
I even read it as delivery
@serene sage @robust latch (and anyone else interested) here's an example survivor story dedicated page. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hockey_Psycho_(friday_13th!)
looks pretty great
how'd you find the info that the corpses were 5 to 20 days old?
It's in the java files. zombie > randomizedWorld > randomizedDeadSurvivor > RDSHockeyPsycho.class
IsoDeadBody var7 = createRandomDeadBody(this.getRandomRoom(var1, 2), Rand.Next(5, 20));
at least that's what I believe that argument is for
I have all the info already for the DeadSurvivor ones so don't waste your time trying to get them too π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox
outfits to go with it are here #pzwiki_editing message (also pinned)
Looks nice and concise.
Which reminded me Calvy's suggestion of dividing project into subdivisons, i think it'd be nice to have someone take charge of Survivor Stories explicitly. It looks like this is going to be a whole new section.
Especially seeing as many people have interest in Survivor Stories lately
@proud cobalt was this ready to rollout? I'm not sure where it is π€
I moved it into the B42 project
wow... thanks! Shows how frequently I look there
Lol not much to do in there right now
@robust latch here it is if you want to use it, it's just a table. I'm not sure about the other's but I'm happy to just chip away at survivor stories as is. But happy to split off into a subproject. Let me know if you need any help, and I can do so tomorrow
{| class="wikitable theme-red"
I should apply this once I have people willing to be leaders of these sub projects
Personally i think Survivors and Survivor Stories both warrant their own leaders.
Probably the best place to ask: are there any typos/weirdnesses in any of the radio/TV broadcasts? Currently polishing it.
@robust latch @proud cobalt
here's the new version of the survivor stories page: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Mid/sandbox/survivor_stories_test_mid
Basically:
- Got rid of the "notable stories" subheading for each section
- Created a "gallery" section at the bottom of the page where we can put a few examples of survivor stories on the page without interfering with the text above the section
Looks promising to me. Nice work
I'd lead the project on survivor stories
I've spent too much time on this thing anyway
Nothing specific really comes up to my mind regarding this. I had revised the RecordedMediaTR.txt, therefore I also had to look at all of the RecordedMediaEN.txt aswell and it was solid. If the quality is similar then there shouldnt be any major problems. Perhaps @digital helm have a more concrete idea about this as he added the radio&tv transcripts to the wiki.
Yeah that would be neat. Let me establish the sub project leaders tasks etc.
McGrew's first statement he says it's 14 July, but it's day 1, 9 July. Fairly minor, but I also had some confusion with the time slots for John and Joan on Triple-N, specifically at 6AM, this appears to be John's slot, but sometimes Joan pops in, such as 10 July (or do they just rotate sometimes)
That's all off the top of my head. I'm sure I saw 1 or 2 typos, but not sure where - in radio data
@digital helm @languid kayak @naive imp What do you think?
Gimme a sec I've seen your pings but am a bit busy
Aight
Milk n More specifically is kind of an odd case. I say we list the chain and it's 5 locations for both pages since they could easily be interpreted as either or in the case of a reader, most don't look at roomdefs
Im mainly doing this for future, since we are planning to add Nourish and Foodmart as supermarkets, at least some of them, since I was thinking about having a separate number of locations between grocery shop list and a supermarket list. And since I was planning to separate them there, why not do this everywhere else if possible
@serene sage, I added the subproject section to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Lore. You can add new necessary tasks to already existing Survivor Stories section. Feel free to ask questions regarding formatting and categorization, or creation of new pages, so that everyone can chip in ideas and offer corrections if needed. I will be here to help, so will everyoneelse.
Yeah, I was thinking about that too. I know I'm usually all about standardization, but with some of these chains I think we should make exceptions.
For example, random editors can see milk and more, see the one, and them absentmindedly correct it without checking roomdefs (a lot of people dont do this)
@lucid junco
An easy solution would be to change the intro text to "xxx business is a grocery store AND convenience store chain blah blah blah"
On the milk and more oage
I'll get to that shortly
Plus these pages are in an early rendition, things will likely change anyway, especially with the new towns coming in b42 so I wouldn't stress about it too too much
Also on the topic of supermarket vs grocery, both have similar loot so I suppose both should be in the same page anyway. The supermarket page would only have like 2 total locations anyway. It would actually be better to just keep them kn grocery stores i think
@lucid junco sorry for the sudden change my brain thinks a bit on the short term with stuff like this
I actually really like this, it was similar to what I had in mind ti include later. Feel free to addπ
Except I'd make unaffiliated a header not subheader but that's super super minor nbd really
The only actual supermarket is gigamart
Since it has its own table, more closely resembling one from general store
Exactly, and you could even technically classify that as a grocery store too if you really really wanted to
I don't think we need a supermarket page then, considering gigamart is the only one
Again sorry for the spontaneousness
Np
Though Id add gigamart to the general store tbh, since loot is generally the same(can spawn toys, meds, farm supplies ect)
And every other one to the grocery store
Aight, Ive got your point, fair enough. Im fine with that, at least untill there would either be more milk n more conv store, at which point we would definitely need to separate them, or more grocery stores, making it negligible
We could do that, loot table is fairly similar, or could just put GigaMart in the see also section of the general stores too, just a thought
General stores can also have tools too
I guess it depends on how specific we really want to be
@languid kayak @digital helm what do yall think? Personally I think GigaMart is kinda it's own thing but open to more feedback
I finished the test survivors stories page and should be ready to be copied over to the actual page if there are no problems
I've also made a copy of the current survivors stories page as well
heyo
im away from pc so just quickly, the individual pages for Military boots, Boots and Desert boots have wrong insulation on them, its minor but worth fixing
what insulation do they actually have?
theyre correct on the main clothes page
with military being the highest insulation and desert being the lowest
ok let me fix that real quick
fixed now
nice, thanks
Some transcripts have Churn R Us and some Churn R' Us https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Adverts βΒ might be worth to decide on one and unify.
There are some inconsistencies with the names in advers and signs too, it's Wok and Rolls in transcript and Wok & Rolls in the sign https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Wok_%26_Rolls_Sign
Maybe https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Jolly_Good_Fish_and_Chips too, but it doesn't have & specifically in it.
There might be some more discrepancies between movable names, but I fixed some in the past, I think I fixed the ones in clothing names.
Can't remember more off the top of the head, will say if they are more, but those would be nice to have a deep look at.
Also, there was some black fonts being used that were barely visible. I think some times were a little short to read, but forgot which ones.
I think I found some .. instead of ... (or β¦ actually), though I'm not 100% sure? I think there was some typo too, but I never went through them all, maybe you found them already π
Also Barge-N-Clothes while it should be Barg-N-Clothes https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Barg-N-Clothes
And Fashionabelle vs FashionaBelle https://pzwiki.net/wiki/FashionaBelle_Sign
Ther's also inconsistency of I love Wok and Rolls and I *heart* Wok and Rolls β we actually had a description whether the I <3 is a part of the name which could be indicated by a single quote in this line π€
Come visit 'I heart Wok and Rolls' today!
Actually, my bad, it was .... four dots, unless it's intentional everywhere, e.g.
I think most of the messages are in British English, where I guess they should be US one?
And there's https://pzwiki.net/wiki/ValuInsurance inconsistencies
And Dr.Oids, Dr. Oids and Dr Oids
and Cross Roads Mall (should be Crossroads Mall) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Crossroads_Mall
I forgot about the adverts. Clarification on the name of Churn R Us would be nice too. As on ads it's Churn but the sign says Churns https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Churn_R_Us
I agree, I think GigaMart is its own thing (are there other supermarkets? even unbranded ones?). They're all grocery stores, but GigaMart isn't a general store. At least in my eyes
I believe so, I know there's one in riverside I think
I'll take a more detailed look once I'm home I'm out with my girl atm
Thousand should be singular
"Sewer stairs"
Is obviously a ladder
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Sewer_Stairs
What is a ladder but really really steep stairs?
What are stairs for that matter but a jagged ramp?
@languid kayak saw your note to use the built-in ordered list on the discord article, I kept the headers as is for ToC lmk what you think. I can make it just one big long numbered list too I just thought it was complicated enough to still merit ToC
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Discord
I think that's good. Making it one big long list would make it difficult to follow imo. Plus it's good for the toc
Yeah that was my thinking. I can def nest it so it's like 1 - a b c, 2 - a b c
etc.
But I feel like it'd get hard to follow and you lose the ToC
We used sections like that when we used to have more step-by-step guides. They're much better
Most tiles now have images, mostly paintings and curtains left
Awesome stuff! I've certainly noticed it in the recent changes π
Oh yeah for sure
Good morning nerds
Starting to move categories will be messy until im done
The thing about French words might be font issue, but if not I think there's some cafΓ©s too?
Not sure they are used anywhere yet, we had some questionable things before like https://github.com/TheIndieStone/ProjectZomboidTranslations/pull/437 βΒ though in its defense, it didn't have details back in 1x tiles so might as well identified as an air blower originally when movables were added π
Judging by the sprite β https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Air_Blower.png β it looks more like paper-towel dispenser instead: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper-towel_dispenser
Can take another look, but might as well me overthinking things, so if it works, it works π I should probably et back to those pages (Steam, Humble, GOG, Desura and either improveo r remove the Windows/Linux/Mac ones (they don't seem to be linked at all currently)
These should be done π€
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Tiles
Calvybot has just hit 50k edits which is about 20% of all edits on the wiki
@languid kayak With 9 compression, files weight even LESS than by Ikip
Webp gets even smaller
And that's why we have the bot flag π
Which one is better as a logo?
probably the sign
Definitely, average of 494 edits per day since creation
What bout this one?
Bigger one
look the same π the bigger one will probably give more detail
I noticed some headers weren't updated. But I can fix this when I delete the old ones
Its definetly something to do with old sprites
Which ones π€ Bot should have got them all
this is the one I noticed https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Carpets
Floor tiles
I'll let you know if there's more then
May want to get the bot to update, since all the pages will be wrong too
Doing the media pages for Ksilem. One of the names of the pages is #012 but it wont let me (i assume mediawiki issue) name the page with # at least as the first character
I noticed this one, I didn't get around to looking into it. just call it 012 for now
Will do, the bot was not happy
it takes you to the main page π
Queued up
I think we'll have to just replace the display title, doesn't seem to be any workaround, other than changing the symbol, which I don't like
Thats what i was thinking too @robust latch
calling it 012 and then {{DISPLAYTITLE:#012}}? Sure
There is also an Ohio River VHS tape.
@digital helm since you seem to be working on the table stories article Iβd like to inform you to not work on the building and vehicle stories pages since Iβm working on those and might overwrite your work (or vice versa)
yeah, I just copied over what was on table stories, I'm not doing anymore with them
How are we feeling on making citizen default @digital helm @languid kayak
Told Kirrus we're ready whenever he is today
Awesome
It's not gonna be today, priority TIS task has taken all my spoons and knocked me into Post Exertion Malaise. Will try and get it done tomorrow @digital helm
Sorry!
It's all good, whenever you're good. Hopefully the recovery goes well for you
So we are having individual pages for each type of story and each individual story now? I havn't been keeping up
I think so. I made an example, and think it works well. #pzwiki_editing message
Looks/sounds good, individual articles allow for more expansion.
We've blown past 5,000 articles almost half way to 6,000 with the media articles up
wow... would that have been the tiles? (don't remember if that was before or after the 5000)
Tiles took it from 4400ish to 5050ish
And we were worried we wouldnt have b41 done before b42 dropped
it's been a helluva year so far
9,300 edits and counting, so close to that 10k mark
keep going with those tile pages, you'll get there π
They'll get me to 20k by July
@serene sage I set up a class today for long lists, which may be helpful here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Building_stories#List_of_building_stories
Just use:
*item1
*item2
*item3
</div>```
It'll split it into up to 3 columns
Nice how Citizen shows it in public now π https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:CalvyBot
And yeah, it's pretty much 24% of all edits π
yup, they do π
Carpets should be fixed now
I like it lol
I have a guide on optimizing in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Faalagorn/Image_compression I should simpify and merge when I'll have time into https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Images
yeah, I like it too! It also shows the preferred way to be desribed if set
cool cool, Iβll take a look into it π
bot flag is to give me some break from recent changes lol. Imagine clicking everything once and marking as patrolled
(though I'm not as keep to pick bot errors due to that, sadly, so it's a good dose of trust involved)
I've changed the toggle symbol as mentioned here. Please let me know if any issues. This is for things like infobox sections, navbox, mbox, etc.
May still need to do some minor adjustments for sizing for each skin, etc.
at least you can filter between them. The bot maintainer should be on top of that though π
like this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/Sandbox#HTML/Wikiscript
open div at the top of the list, then close at the bottom
not sure if that's what you mean, but back when I was stiching tiles (using PZunpacker back then) when I updated the tiles pages back then, I had some tiles that were 1 or so pixels off, I checked in-game and it was the same. Not sure if I reported it back then or whether if it was fixed or not π€
Probably something to keep track of.
Speaking of which, sometimes to note, we should probably add some way to track issues/bugs/typos etc. so they can be easily fixed by TIS when necessary, I was pretty much talking evertything off my head to Pat β I thought about it, seeing it on wikis such as GWW or TF2W
(and for tiles that are stiched wrongly in-game we should definitely add it to trivia if possible, maybe with a template similar to {{sup|bug}} like {{verify}} so it automatacailly add categories?)
Yeah, you should be able to use {{DISPLAYTITLE}} to set it though
e.g. on Cyberpunk wiki https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/MelaTome_23:_"Tropical_Misery"?veaction=editsource
Though keep in mind fandom doesn't have the DISPLAYTITLE extension so it might behave differently
may be helpful. A lot of stuff seems so minor that I end up just moving on. Having these recorded may be good, rather than clogging up the bug report thread with incredibly minor things π
At least we're up to the article count of other game wikis now π
Helluva Boss π
(great show btw; I totally recommend watching for those who did not yet)
Thoughts on a ? in the top-right of the box? Or are we happy with the note above? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Soup#Ingredients
My concern with the ? is it may take away from the aesthetic, and create clutter when every box has it
I do my best lol, sometimes errors get through. I try to catch them on my sandbox test page first, but live articles are a different beast they always throw curve balls
nah, you do great. I was always stressing just using AWB, which even previews what you're doing
I like the little note. I thought it was nice looking
β?β feels to me like thereβs something people donβt know about it, so it probably wonβt work as an icon thingy
That's sorted then π
Any other issues before I rollout more?
Including bag pages
Yeah no previews with PWB just the console box. And unless you tell it to output something else it only outputs when it saves a page.
I use a module called tqdm that does progress bars with etas and it is a life changer
None here
The customisability is its real purpose over something like AWB (if it worked). So a good compromise imo
The module looks great btw. I'll definitely look at using it when I start
Convinience store haunts me in the Louisville page
As much as Restarant did
Don't stress too much, everything's in an early format. I can't recall a time where any of us got articles completely right on the first try π
That's what's good about a wiki, everything evolves and gets better over time
I guess the
Hover (press on mobile) for more information.
Hover a mouse pointer or touch the element for touch screens for more information.
Though kinda a nit? I guess it encompasses more devices types
I mean it a bit more literally
I went to check the amount of conv stores in there, but found only 3
I wanted something short and concise, so it doesn't get missed - or create confusion
Its actually 4, the last one was convinience store
I can change to touchscreen, since that's more what it is, rather than mobile.
yeah, I initially just wanted to shorten it even further but then started adding things so yeah π
that's always the way it goes π
yeah, guess it'll be fine that way
added it to the template, in case we decide to change it, we can just change it there
good thinking
Yes its me lol. I am trying to share a paragraph, i pinged 4 people it keeps getting deleted
Maybe there is a limit? I dunno
We have; Survivor Stories, Zone Stories, Vehicle Stories, Building Stories and Table Stories.
Here is what I have in mind for categorization, and it is very, very much open for suggestions:
1- We have the Lore category. Under this lets create a Randomized Stories category.
2- Have this page as the only article inside Randomized Stories category (Just like "VHS", "CDs" "Skills" pages) -> https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Survivor_stories. Also change the displaytitle to "Randomized Stories".
3- Under the Randomized Stories category, create; Zone Stories, Vehicle Stories, Building Stories and Table Storiescategories. Under the Building Stories category, create Survivor Stories category (survivor stories only spawn inside buildings, as seen in debug afaik). So for example the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hockey_Psycho_(friday_13th!) article does actually fall into survivor stories and not building stories. Because building stories are made of; clinic, safehouse, school, bar, burnt, looted etc.
4- Under the Randomized Stories category have these articles: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Table_stories, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicle_stories, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Building_stories (the context should be changed to building stories and survivor stories must be moved), https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Zone_stories. Under the Building Stories category have the Survivor Stories article.
5- Finally now that everything is set in regards to navigation, create relevant articles under the freshly created Zone Stories, Vehicle Stories, Building Stories, Survivor Stories and Table Storiescategories.
@serene sage @digital helm and everyone.
Let me know if i misunderstood the context somewhere, or that you have a better idea. This is the same approach that took place with recorded medias.
Also @languid kayak and @lucid junco , now that i can ping you without getting auto-deleted
So for instance: Lore->Randomized Stories->Building Stories->Survivor Stories->Hokey Psyhco
seems about right, I'm pretty sure that survivor houses are also technically building stories and yet are quite different. I'm currently working on creating the zone stories article, but after that I'll look into reorganizing stuff
(oh no what have I gotten myself into)
Table stories in the same folder as Building stories, you want to put them into the Randomized Stories or Building stories
@robust latch
You hadnt even gotten into chances calculating
I personally gave up since not Im too bad at programming to get what it means
And I dont fucking trust what chatgpt says when I throw code at it
Vaileasys put the game code and technical details into his mockup of the Hock Psycho guy
I asked them where he found stuff like how old the bodies were
he said to "look in the java files"
Thats not the code to calculate probability
so they just set the bar really high
Ive personally used Visual Studio code with a plugin to open the .class java files
Honestly the Lore Project have a lot of stuff that needs to be created or maintained. It'd be nice if I can steal you from Locations and Maps project
What do you want to steal from me
Your brain and edits
Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\zombie\randomizedWorld
Yeah there is a "Safehouse" randomized building story
Not my brains
yeah, he told me that was where the stuff's at
stupid me tried looking at the .class files in notepad
Eg \Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid\zombie\randomizedWorld\randomizedDeadSurvivor/HockeyPsycho
You can spawn them in in devmode by rmb inside of the house
Usefull for screenshoting
also is the βSexy Timeβ zone story a reference to anything? For context the vehicle is always an ambulance
already screenshotted all of them
Ill be up for it after Im done with the last logos
took up so much time yesterday
Even table stories?
a lot of houses have most stories disabled
the amount of times a sewing kit looked like a pair of scissors is not even funny
sounds brutal
So yeah, RSS is easier than RTS
Its nice, setChance
So is RBS
But RTS gives me head aches on how complicated it is
When you try to calculate chances of each one spawning
mm hmm
So, lets say that its a 10% chance
Overall for story to spawn
Now, what are the fucking chances for a spoon to spawn
I still dont know
absolute doozy
It may be 100%, may be 33%, maybe I will never fucking know
I wonder
do the devs themselves even know anymore?
maybe it's documented
but maybe not
People who know java should know
But I dont even know python that well
And all of them are busy with other stuff
All it takes is 1 determined burglar.
it's not a percentage, from my understanding, it's a weight. So it totals the weight of all the stories, then determines which will spawn. Item distribution works the same way
something with a weight of 10, is 10 times as likely as something with 1
I'm catching up, I likely missed something π
Ok I see. So under the Building Stories Category we will have "Survivor Stories" and "Table Stories" category. Sounds about right.
Also i am glancing at RandomizedZombie aswell π€¨
Ok that is Survivor Stories i checked it with debug
I found The Indie Stone's HQ on Google: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/08650737
I'm happy with that. Essentially following the context menu in-game. The only problem I have with the wording of "Survivor stories" is how broad it is. I think it'll work for now, but we should keep in mind that this'll likely need to change in the future.
Yeah. I couldnt find this myself
PZ updated and I thought it was B42 but turned out it was just a mod update π
I have made my peace with December 31th release date
note the code section I did is only for the hockeypsycho outfit. I don't think we should include raw java in there, unless it's REALLY specific or necessary to show something.
I see, but still, now I have to look through the code for all the stories one by one all because of you /s
don't stress π feel free to take info from here to create articles. That's why it's there. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox
cool cool
Just the wording? It may change ye
I will start the categorization tomorrow probs
Now that we all are on board with this
sounds good. Just note we created a survivor stories category https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Survivor_stories
Best to keep them lowercase too. This simplifies linking a lot
@languid kayak thoughts on this? The stories are displayed in debug in caps (like everything else).
edit: it really is impossible to spawn the table stories, I tried every single option in debug mode but nothing did anythign related to the table stories so I got sidetracked
@naive imp (And everyone here as always)
Shouldnt this be called Purple plus black or Purple + Black
Also another one to the Weird Pros & Cons collection
Somewhere along with No Fridge
I agree. Name should always exactly match the business name in game. Feel free to move
Which one though π
- or "plus"
Aight
You are a madman for going through all this, maybe even more than me lol
Fr tho thanks for your help seriously
π Thats what happens when person with enough dedication has free time to do this
I β€οΈ Wok n rolls bugs me out even more
Why is it just "Wok n Rolls"
I was expecting "I <3 wok n rolls" "I β€οΈ wok n rolls" "I love wok n rolls" I heart wok n rolls"
Or something along these ones
This has actually come up before. I think it should be "I Love Wok and Rolls" as that's what the adverts say, and emoticons are usually not viewable on desktop
I just haven't gotten around to moving it
What do you think @languid kayak @proud cobalt
Come on, thats one of my favorite Weird Al songs
"Love" would fit even better instead of heart, since "I love rocky roads"
oh no, I just finished the zone story article; now I have to go through each and every story to write their article
what extension was it?
Should we just copy paste the Survivor story article and then delete it
So that we can create Randomized stories page&category and paste there
which one?
Because I cant create a secondary survivor stories, as i moved them to randomized
The main one
link? I thought the name was changed?
I see
yeah you can delete the ones named βsurvivor storiesβ
seems theyβre just redirects
Ok copy the article i will do the same
Deleting onlyhttps://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Survivor_stories&redirect=no and https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Survivor_stories&redirect=no should suffice if i am not mistaken
