That's them being flavorful because they don't want to announce the release and to make ppl feel like their ARG progress is making a difference when it's not. These kinds of big Updates that add entirely new map files into the game have to go through Certification Testing with MSFT and Sony far in advance and be approved for Release. There is 100% an internal date already set for when they intend to release the map, we just don't know it publicly.

I don't, I just have knowledge of how Sony and MSFT do Certification testing cuz i used to keep up with that kinda stuff. it's prob not identical to how it used to be, but Cert testing is almost certainly still a thing and it would make no sense for Bungie or Sony to not have a definitive planned or expected release date set. Alot of the times when a company says a game is coming out in "Fall 20XX" or in "Nov 20XX" the release date is known internally, they just aren't ready to share it publicly
