Uh yea that's your issue.
At 1440p this game uses way more then 8GB's of VRAM, your GPU only has 8GB's.

That's why the black boxes appear, you're going over the VRAM limit so you start getting a lot of visual artifacts because of it.

1080p ultra low is your option here

Keep Environment and Character detail distances as high as you can though, those are very useful. Also keep motion blur off.

I was running at 1440p on a 1070ti also with 8gb vram and never saw it go over 6gb, also peaking at 80%~ util

not to mention spilling over vram limits will use physical memory/pagefile. 99% of the time its gonna cause stuttering/hanging before texture corruption

Nah, they are scattered around the whole of the Orientation area and there are about 42 possible locations for 5 generators. Hell, 6 of the locations can be check just by standing on the roof of the building just outside of Flight Control where the red key card is. Once you learn them, it's not THAT bad to find them. I love doing destroyed wing entrance now, hardly anyone to contend with you, a lot more silent than conveyance, and a lot more consistent now.

you can get the vendor upgrade that gives you 40s (first upgrade) up to a total of 80s (second upgrade) of anti-virus at the start of a round. Just the first upgrade is enough to go into search for and turn off the lockdown field in 2 and sometimes even 3 of the lockdowns without needing an actual anti-virus consumable. Would highly suggest picking up that upgrade so that you can survive until you've gotten out

It is rough and i totally feel your pain. doing it with a group with a destroyer or thief and a triage that keeps cardio kicking you helps a lot for getting around. especially if you can wipe the map or mostly wipe the map within the first 10 minutes.

If you can LFG a group of people (here in this dicord maybe) that is still doing that quest, you can actually split up and have each of you do part of the locations so it goes faster. Then if you can get all of the locations done, only one of you actually has to extract (sad to lose equipment but at least you get the contract done). We had only one guy make it out in the end because of the thief grapple into final extract. It was such a tight run

I run a few cryos every week and still feel like i know nothing about the map. Its more frustrating that final exfil isn't indicated on the map and that you HAVE to get to security clearance 3 before you can even access the exfil terminal to spawn an exfil before finial countdown. It has happened a few times where we never got to clearance 3 and got killed by the end timer and not other squads.

I recommend you go in with the mindset that several runs are going to be just for learning the map without really expecting to get out alive, then at some point the goal becomes to actually exfil and any loot you might get while doing so is just a bonus. At least for myself this avoided a lot of frustration in the beginning of my cryo career

You’ll get a free cryo kit this week, try and get a squad that somewhat knows what they’re doing. Worst thing that happens is you lose a free kit and start to learn the map.

Biggest thing you need to know how to do is exfil, that should be your step one. Don’t worry about keys, that will come with the runs and hopefully you getting more loot.

This dude doesn’t understand that combating cheats is always an uphill battle. When you ban wave people using specific software, the creators improve it and hide it better from AC detection. They can’t just show their hand and publicly acknowledge the software until they can stop it for sure or the specific software will just continue to be used. Then the creators work around the new detection implemented and rinse repeat, it’s never ending.

They'll probably be adding to our current list of priority contracts. The codex entries for the priority quests just means you've completed them once before. So next season you won't get the codex entry when you complete it again.

It's usually how these games go as seasons come and go, more content is added on. Generally nothing is taken away. So, eventually you have enough content to keep everyone focused on something until the end of the wipe, but that won't be for quite some time.

Curious to see how Bungie responds. If they can’t squash the cheating they need to design the game in ways that minimizes its impact on player progression. Right now the game is in limbo where you can’t progress some things due to cheaters (ranked) and no ones getting banned so if you’re a legit player you’re mostly just fucked

If season ends and cheaters get ranked rewards and barely anyone gets banned, as much as I love the aesthetic and themes of this game, I won’t be back for season 2

It just ends up taking too much time otherwise to try and grind out game progression while also having to dodge cheaters at the same time

I’m checking back in I have still done everything on the bungie forums for my friend. Error code plum, DNS flush updated the router port forwarded both marathon and battle eye, uninstalled reinstalled both separately, fresh windows install and the only thing I can guess is it’s a ISP issue at this point

They live in Kentucky, I’m Florida based and don’t have their isp but I do not have the same issue, they do use VR though so maybe that’s triggering something

And I know javelin (BF6) had a issue with certain controller drivers but they are using a PS5/Series controller to play plus the fresh windows install should have cleaned that up

yeah the start of a season is the BEST time to play marathon for sure! but if you arent fussed about full 100%ing leveling you can basically do the main brunt of it by the time you hit level 40

everything progression wise in marathon past level 50 is all optional tbh outside of contracts

additionally, getting clearance 2 and navigating around the map through the spawns vs moving through control is much better. unless you happen to wipe the lobby ofc but that goes without saying.

I encourage knowledge of control, simply for the 4 final exfils. I've come to find that a lot of "green" cryo players aren't familiar with how Exfilling or the side systems work ( I showed at least a dozen sky bridge, for the first time last weekend). Exfilling is the core objective of the game, so ensuring people at the very least know 4 stable exfills is usually the best advice I can offer.
As I mentioned before, once you're comfortable with how every spawn rotates through control and how to get around it in under a minutes. The possibilities really do just open up.
