I mean I agree, but my problem with it is just that all of those weapons have too fast of a ttk, which heavily emphasizes surprise fights. The shotgun has a faster ttk at most shield levels I believe, so it should in theory win a 1v1, but if a team is surprised and bad, any fast ttk weapon will kill them faster than they can meaningfully react

well yea thats cause helldivers 1 wasnt a server wide continuous war like that and functioned very differently. Theres a lot more effort put into the lore and story building. helldivers 1 war didnt really have a story it was created more by the community with zero dev interference. Also just cause you destroy their homeworld doesnt stop all their other ships on other planets and outposts. thats like saying chopping off the head of a hydra kills it

Arc Raiders does let you play the way you want and how often you want, without worrying about lost progress via their optional wipe system. It very nicely takes away FOMO that way.

Marathon is way more story oriented and we'll see if seasons provide different stories or merely resets with new features thrown in. I play solo only (late at night and needing to keep quiet in the home) and have gotten to season level 12 in about 10 hours. I feel like I will not be able to get through the "seasonal story" (aka priority contracts) even before reset and that means I won't enjoy the part that differentiates Marathon.

Also nothing I said was wrong lol the devs never intended to truly give the players the win in that MO (eliminating the bots by conquering their homework in the same fashion eliminating a faction was done in the original) which is something they have done in various MOS previous to that one and always intended for the bots to stay on the map 'somehow the bots built a new megafactory' it removes stakes from the story that is being told and a story with no stakes is worthless even when the gameplay is actually good

well thats not how any of this works im afraid. as stated before they dont have their entire force and every bot and cyborg soul on one single planet. This is something we do irl. If a country falls they have bases and troops posted on other parts of the world. the same is for helldivers. If the bots unironically did this it would make sense lore wise at all. To wipe them out of the war completely you would need to liberate every planet they own
