I feel what you write about, in fact, I am also a developer, and I am still most concerned about what exactly will be the model of life cycle of Marathon, because one thing is not clear to me, what will be at the end of the first season and the beginning of the second ? Repetativeness? New content ? In what form ? How will it be distributed ? How will it affect the world of the game ? I'll be honest I'm probably not a good candidate for the Community of this game, I probably can not get used to the fact that every 3 months I will be taken away from me all that I got wipe giving as a reward only skins.

The problem is that if I hypothetically don't have the ability/time/desire to play from the start of the season and I miss 2 months, then what's the point of me starting to play in the last month before the wipe ? My progression just won't keep up in time with others and it will be wasted time for nothing, that's what I mean.

I mean, when it comes down to it, straight gunfights are still gunfights - even with all the upgrades, you have an easier time resupplying, but you're not straight-up better in a scrap, and you can still dust somebody and pick all their stuff up no matter how light you drop.

Well, they probably collect this data too 🙂 It's just that they usually find out at a later stage of testing, I think they collect data from Alpha, so that in the future they can study the data from Beta and analyze how they did in general with these tasks.

Yes, but it's expensive to build out servers in new areas, so testing in just one area - the one where they expect a lot of their playerbase will be, and also a roughly similar, relatively narrow slice of time zones - produces the best result in a test so limited in scale. That's testing. For release, of course other regions will have servers of their own.

I dunno if I need to say this out loud, but, uh. Provisioning a building full of servers is super fucking expensive? I don't know if most people have the slightest idea how huge the costs involved are, but I do. <3

And quite frankly, since they -do- intend for most of their testers to come from the same place (because it makes logistical sense to do so), pulling a bunch of folks from SEA or Parts Beyond in is just going to mean their game looks like shit in a subset of potential customers' youtube channels.
