I too thought the menu could just be a visual representation of the mind but I feel like they've made an effort to give the environment some more light reflecting properties like the glossy floor we now see. Also the 2025 cinematic also seemed to suggest that the runner using Glitch is located somewhere above Tau Ceti before actually infiltrating with the "ether step" stuff

This implies that the player is an AI, which could be the case, we already had that discussion a while ago though and like I said I think its probably just a lot of very fancy VR tech. That'd be cheaper imo than transferring an entire person every single time and exposing them to on-site cybersecurity issues and risking the entire individual every time. If its mind transfer then if they get hacked on the ground it could just kill them outright.

If we were to be projected from orbit there wouldn't have been mentions of forcefully ejecting the mind and having a backup of us on call.

Its like matter transporters in Star-Trek, the science as explained in the show would kill you but it works for plot convenience. Going into the lore I just treat it as a lie since I've yet to see a source on that not coming from something influenced by the corps or the UESC. But, it could also be the case.

oh, so i have a question, when tf is marathon?(classic that is). granted ive only played up to the second chapter as i keep getting memory leaks. We see multiple different years, we see 2337, 24something and 2794. so which time is it? they talk about planet side, so they've already established a colony. and in marathon the game, the UESC Marathon is hit by an asteroid storm in 2794, then disease happens in 2812, and then the Pfhor attack New Cascadia in 2827.

Ah i gotchu. I think the issue is where the cutoff is. We havent been shown the Pfhor and i dont remember them dhowing up in the ARG so we have no concrete evidence theyve been on TC4. Also the fact that the first contact of the Marathon to earth in M26 is in 2886 per the intro and so the earth wouldnt have attacked the Pfhor system meaning I doubt Durandal has been to Lh'owon and progressed through the use of the Trih Xeem

but in Infinity's main timeline it seems like Durandal never stopped by Earth on his way to Lh'owon, and Blake and co never returned, so together with Leela's message being lost, humans at Sol have no idea the Pfhor exist yet, and the S'pht are probably still out there fighting the Pfhor by 2893

2827 wasnt Pfhor, that was the Anomaly. Pfhor are brutes, they kill by physical means. The floating truck and exploding head can be seen similarly on Dire Marsh.
