Neither, I've played both games, 6 hours in marathon (post release) and 100 hours in arc raiders, Arc has far higher recoil etc, feels like your playing with not many options. Marathon you have super fast sprints, heals, smokes, invisibility, almost no recoil on any of the guns even at far ranges. I'm not sure what you see that is so 'hardcore' about marathon

Your only problem in any type of this games ever is gonna be you being scared to loose good gear. I have that too but I trynna ignore it. Even though the game has some guns that are consider better than others, for me everything is enjoyable so I just try to make the best from what I have and enjoy the game. The faster ttk helps with dealing with higher gear players too. If you play smarter better and have some luck you are golden

Is the games optimization that bad? I am running it in a rtx 3060 with all high and it is running pretty smoothly. Maybe some statters here and there but that is probably because I need to decrease some of the graphic settings

early wipe is the best but this games more forgiving than tarkov. Much easier progression and you have a lot of free kits ect. I also think you stand a better chance in this game with shittier guns than you do in tarkov where in some cases fights are just impossible

Don't worry about that. You most probably gonna loose most of your good things multiple times through out the 3 month period (no hating). That just the nature of actuall extraction shooters. Wipes help to keep the game fresh and fair for everyone

Yeah...but wipes have been getting "wiped" out from the genre for a reason. Tarkov originally made up the wipe concept because the game was in heavy development, and they dropped it after it released.
