I've been through a relatively similar upbringing, and moving out and living on my own was the single best thing that I did. It's been rough with rent and bills and everything, but I can actually live my life and do what I want. That took a lot of mental weight off my shoulders. I've since been able to focus on advancing my career without scrutinizing comments constantly, get into new hobbies, go to therapy and work on myself, etc. I haven't spoken to my parents in years and I'm so much better off for it. Would they be proud I'm an engineer and finding my way in the work? Who knows. I know I am, and that's all that matters.

Just try to keep your head up and move forward. As you get older you start to realize that most people get stuck in a rut sometimes. It's not a permanent problem, so please do not seek a permenant solution. Depression is a bitch but medication and therapy help greatly

When I was really, really young, in the times of Java chatroom roleplay, the battle system between users was based on WPM

the faster you could post, the more "attacks" you got in.
