It's part of the core game and that'd take.probably alot of resources of reworking the entire hero system, and there's already gonna be skin shops so it's here to stay

The heroes are fine, IMO the source of that take is a dog whistle rejecting "forced diversity" in characters. Heroes in Nightreign are fine: making them interesting personalities with interesting stories and not just "hello fellow kids" marketing approved catch phrases is really all they need to overcome the criticism

This has been said before plenty in the heroes argument but reason why overwatch did it well because they had good stories and animated cutscenes with every hero that makes them memorable, and they talk to each other in game aswe

hero shooters really extremely forget the personality aspect

I think that's why siege is starting to do that, and now the operators talk to eachother, have videos, have their own squads and units.....(Took them a while but they're doing it)

Even before that they had operator videos that showed the personality of the character in 30 second clips, and a lore tab you can read

Those made them memorable, hell when they stopped the op videos people really noticed it, but in return they had way more lore and made them interesting

Ya it's one of the things that made Concord DOA: as much as influencers cried woke the problem was the cast were all bland and didn't have any personal or ensemble chemistry. I heard the Secret Level episode they made helped that a little if it had come out before launch but the Marathon narrative short has already done a lot to sell these characters even in small ways

Hell destiny even works the same way (kinda) the classes aren't "heroes" perse but they're an archetype, while boring on paper they have well, in-lore heroes that help establish the identity of said archetype

That can work well, if marathon heroes were like classes in that aspect
