D2 Players and Looter Shooter players in general dont tend to like Gacha. You have to at least somewhat market to the Gacha market, which they didnt do. They work with a lot of Gacha Creators on other games like Ananta and Where Winds Meet, so there's no shot they wernt aware of the proclivities. I've also mentioned this to multiple people multiple times.

If you're going to chase regular non-gacha players youve got to be at least as generous as Solo Leveling Arise in terms of freebies, otherwise youre doomed. They should've leaned more into Monetization that places an emphasis on Cosmetics over characters.

NTE has a monopoly board gacha system, that looks AWFUL, turned me away immediately from giving it a chance

I find they work best in the back line as the bounce adds some distance to their range that make them more useful at far range.

Loot is rare, but it is not earned through difficulty or mastery (like the Pinnacle weapons cross misses). Bring back the mystery and exploration where players don't know every exotic drop beforehand. You cannot look at a player in Rising and respect that they beat a hard challenge to get their gear. You simply assume they got lucky or paid money. Lack of new explorable zones, raids, or meaningful plot developments. I don't even have a future boss to imagine defeating.

Has D2 maps been pretty lackluster? I did hear that they didn’t “feel” like a new planet when they are released. But yea without mystery/overbearing threat I could see the wonder being lost. Rising basically entered with that issue too, we have a little bit of the crota threat currently from Ikora quest and opening trailer basically.

I am hoping for a fun Ahamkara fight tho in rising XD need more lore for them

There's no incentive to explore in either. Honestly, there is nothing pushing players to keep playing, other than just upgrading characters in rising.

I think this is true for a lot of live service games when you break them down. We have a lot of artificial extensions in games. I do wish we had a goal to reach towards, but we quickly see how people will scream “P2W” for challenges. No one believes it might just take some time and learning the game more to achieve it feels. Some solo challenges would be fun tho for those who don’t have a dedicated team XD

Either way, looking forward to it and what the 3rd area of RSR will be like.

Usually we have reason to want to upgrade them. Cross made numerous points that he wanted the loot to use it in the crucible for example. Thats often where he found the loot existed and started wanting it. He was killed by a player using it. With rising being more pve focused, that example would be like seeing someone kill issakis or crota super fast, and inspecting them because you dont actually know what they used. (Something ive never had to do)

The only point we are upgrading currently is mostly for the sake of upgrading. Most people dont actually need to upgrade their characters anymore to clear content.

I could see Crota being part of the seasonal campaign following up from this season. He wasn’t really part of RSR so if the campaign is still set there with the expansion I would guess it will tie into the raid more than Crota.

This is definitely true, the only reason I am upgrading is to diminish the risk when running random matchmaking (and in return being able to carry people in matchmaking easier). For anyone who has dedicated teams there is no challenge and no goals to reach. Probably world first, but all of those are fair play based (or designed to be).

When they start to bring characters back, it should be Dual Banner. Players who have all characters want more, players who missed characters want ones they missed. Dual Banners is the way to go imo.
