Heyo:) i tried submitting a ticket aswell but the problem is I can easily play solo but once i try to start or join a server with my friend all of the sudden i get stuck in the loading screen, i hear birds and wave crashing but then nothing happens. ya ive only played solo and thia only happened after I left tortuga and headed south. passed a battle between the brethren and blackbeards pirate and it started going down to 15 fps then jump to 30 almost every other second. the entire time ive played its been 40 fps for the most part.

You probably shouldn't try to host on the steam deck. Try connecting to a friend instead.

My game now isn’t loading after installing decky loader to use lossless scaling. Is this common? Everybody seems to be using lossless scaling to double FPS and get better gameplay. But when I’ve copied a YT tutorial like for like by game doesn’t load? I had copied a code from decky to apply into windrose game properties in the game launch box settings, could it be related to that since the game is now not loading?

I would recommend you reinstall the game and attempt this again. Though you may want to when you reinstall make a 2nd copy of the game to test this in so you do not have to keep reinstalling. That is optional.
Devs have said that all 3rd party software is not supported and can cause issues. This is true with any game. Personally I could not hazard a guess. I get a solid 60FPS on high with no issues, though not too far along, needing to free my crew.
Do you have a Nitrado Server by chance? Or your own hardware?
Nitrado I think is overwhelmed as the game devs and they work to fix many issues being discovered.

Have you thought about running through Steam CMD? I am not familiar at all with running through Steam Library like that.
ECONNREFUSED looks like Connection Refused, this could be the same that Nitrado Customers are experiencing. Have you tried to use the search in the top right to search for ECONNREFUSED?

Well Good PC does not really tell us anything. Did you look at the Store Page for the REQUIREMENTS needed to play this game? Remember that whatever the RAM need is you need that much Free not installed.

That would very likely be a hardware issue. Check to make sure your PC is not overheating. It will shutdown to protect itself.
Open the case if a Desktop and clean out the dirt and dust.
Look for software to help watch how hot things are.

Yeah was what I was going to say because you do not have the RAM installed that is needed for the game. So lower settings and shutdown everything that is not 100% essential to conserve all your RAM.

Check that CPU Utilization as well. I run multiple servers, some games, particularly poorly optimized games like an alpha (or Arc Survival) hard lock single CPUs. On non-server grade hardware, running more RAM can be a detriment to performance rather than a gain

Check the actual individual core usage on cpu. It has a tendency to use 2 cores at 100% and not the rest

Network stability is a likely culprit for that issue
4 members of my team are also seeing the same issue... we cant rejoin the server
it only seems to happen when no one‘s connected to the server. typically shortly after someone logged off
network is very stable hardline and home network configured to direct home traffic to my dedicated server machine.

correct. various states and internet providers.
after they disconnect and the server is empty we get this error and I need to restart the server app. it will run hours 10 so far when someone is online with no issues.
i will look at the network traffic around the time of next issue and see if I have any network drops to the server.
i run a unifi network in the house and can hopefully use it to track and find any network issue

Across them all
games generally have very little network footprint, seems more of a server error where its not cleaning bad states or resetting sockets. If youre running windows server I would check Powershell for open ports, dont remember the PS command off the top of my head, in Linux I'd run ss -tulnp o see if ports keep staying open instead of closing

could be a lot of things without context. Hardware issues, how things are set up, etc. Best easy solution is if you have a graphics card manager, go in there and change the mode it is in to see if it makes a difference, or adjust in game settings to lower quality settings

I have "IsPasswordProtected": true and a password value set, but you can use any password or a blank password and join my server.

i am currently hosting a world that 2 of my friends are on, it seems there is some sort of desync or rolling back that is occuring which is causing fighting any enemy to be very difficult for the both of them and ends in a lot of frustration, how can I go about fixing this
I am in R5/ServerDescription.json. Other changes in that file (server name, invite code) are working.
so if those changes work, I assume I am in the right file. I have no other ServerDescription.json file in the directory structure.
it also shows the password in the green "Server Connection Info" section in the console when the server is running. but, password not being enforced.

i put 1 instead of true, and next time i started the server it put it back to true on its own
it being the IsPasswordProtected value. so I assume its formatted correctly since it put true there. I've checked for whitespace, etc.
Is there maybe a 2nd file with that setting that could be overwriting. Like Ark for Example has setting files in Saved and in another location.

desync is very difficult to figure out from my end. I would check network speeds from the host your running it on to make sure its good. internal network stability may be an issue too e.g I have 1GB Fiber, but if my home router limits me to 10MB, then all I'm ever going to see of that gig is 10MB

It depends on your setup lol. I have a firewall that I can prioritize p2p traffic, so if you can do that in your router or fw that would potentially help

In general, I get 120-130 FPS, but the problem only occurs when I open and close the map—there's a brief lag every time

if you open a menu like a map, inventory. chest etc, or alt tab, itll disable your frame gen, and reenable it when youre in the game itself, that lag you feel is the frame gen going from off to on

Game freezes up, then get Fatal Error, which keeps happening. Sometimes right away, sometimes after around 15 minutes. Game is solid otherwise, no stuttering or anything else that I can see. Graphics are going directly to Nvidia GeForce 3070 TI, bypassing Intel graphics via MUX. Alienware M15 R7 laptop, 32GB RAM, i7-12700H. Same errors thrown each time. I fully removed drivers, reinstalled - same issue

Do you have Steam backing it up?
if its backed up, when you relaunch the game, it should force a sync, then it should come back down I believe. You can also ask Copilot how to copy down save games from the Steam cloud
I was just looking at your comment when my friend and I testing in game with fps stuff, opening the map in general seems to free up the GPU and CPU a lot from rendering the game, and closing the map causes a huge spike in usage in both, which explains your stuttering.

you can check - it may not have removed it from the cloud yet. Ask Copilot or Gemini how to check it directly, and see if its still there

bro, figured it out. had not done the tutorial yet. so it wasnt connecting to the server, it just loads in the tutorial local then once you finish that it connects to the server and asks for the password

yep, the tutorial where you kill a guy, block a guy, etc...then get shot. after that it kicks you back out to the menu, you join the server again and then it actually asks for the password.
yea I also think my config got reset while I was working on it, so the docker run time was still requiring a pw but otherwise didnt show in the config. Downfalls of working on things live

Correction, changing the ip priority did not fix the Error 33 SE_ECONNREFUSED random disconnect issue, it just seemed to make it go away, but it happened again

Same issue now, I was playing earlier on laptop, successfully exited game and put laptop into sleep, started on PC and it keeps giving me this screen
I restarted PC, reinstalled, verified integrity, still nothing but this screen
I got same issue. played yesterday on pc but today on laptop its just stuck on loading screen. I have uninstalled, verified integrity of game files, forced a steam cloud conflict to inject my cloud save from the pc, restarted laptop and still stuck on that screen. Game is unplayable. Is there no fix?
Only way to play is by forcing a conflict then clearing local save and launching using new save but then i lose all my progress and have to restart
I'll I've done so far is turn off cloud sync on steam and I have reinstalled it once and I went to close the game and load it up again and it brought me to character create and I've been playing solo offline for about 40 mins now
If you have tried all the simple stuff I'd just keep opening the game until it gives you the character create screen, I didn't get the loading screen before it so if you do, then its prob stuck loading again and just close the game and re open it

Yeh I have read so many threads. I know how to get to the character screen but that involves starting a new save and not using cloud sync. The issues is with cloud syncs across different devices. I do not want to restart my character as I have progressed a lot. If i go back to my pc I am sure itll launch but I cant for a while.
I am trying to run a dedicated server and I am noticing that the server idle state absolutely pegs 2 of my cores. Is there something wrong with my setup that is causing this? I can't join my friends to play at all. Im about to refund this game because it is quite literally unplayable. Infinite loading screen whenever I try to join friends or host a game. you don't NEED uPnP. That is just a way for your computer to talk to the firewall, to dynamically open up the ports you require.
With uPnP disabled you can just open up TCP port 7777, 7778
maybe 7779. I did all three.
Anyone been having issues connecting to dedicated servers they're hosting in their own network? Friends can connect just fine. Thinking it has something to do with NAT hairpinning.
Works just fine here. I did enable nat reflection a while ago though, that may be why it's just working out of the box

Not a big deal if you can't. I'm reading some people have to run the docker in Host mode and then set the Proxy settings to match their local IP versus 127.0.0.1
The only IP's I see is my server internal IP and my public IP
my clients INTERNAL IP does not show up in the logs

So, long story short, my character got lost. Somehow Steam Cloud just doesn't have it. I can see files on Steam Cloud from yesterday when I definitely still had a character. Anyone got any ideas on how to restore these files? I had a go but it just broke the game when I tried.

on windows it would be %appdata% and into the local folder -
Go into Account and into the sub folder and check if the Content of the CURRENT text file matches the existing MANIFEST file name for example,
CURRENT File Content is MANIFEST-000033
but you only got a MANIFEST-000040 file in your folder
then change the name of the MANIFEST-000040 file to MANIFEST-000033
repeat the same for the Players folder.
but u need your old save files when you deleted them and steam override them i think they are gone

So it's not entirely self-hosted
Hopefully whatever they're doing fixes some of the local routing weirdness.

I doubt you can make a workaround, simply because the self hosted servers crash when they do an update
that tells me the self hosted servers are relying on their service being available
Looking at the logs it looks like there is some sort of handshake process that verifies you have the correct token (invite code) and that the incoming connection details match ... issues can occur during that handoff.

I'm using AMP Cubecoders running on a Linux VM using WINE. It was having an issue when I started it the first time, I didn't specify the server seed and it started a new map every reboot.

Yeh but if its through steam it should auto update. If its on a separate server u need to use steam cmd to update

Go to the R5\Saved\SaveProfiles\Default\RocksDB\0.10.9\Worlds and copy the folder name of the correct folder for your world. Open amp and go to instance/configuration/windrose and paste the number there. Then go back to the R5 folder using AMPS file manager and edit the ServerDescription.json file. Paste that same folder name into the WorldIslandId field (between quotes.) Save the file and close it. Then restart the instance. It's create new worlds because the worldid isn't set correctly. It must match in all three places..
The last one in game updates
since the updated is now available you should update the server and try again and look if it starts
I updated through Steam. Make sure you set your library to show Tools and you can find Windrose Dedicated Server. There you will be able to see if the update is available for you.
I found no updates for my server today. It's up and running again though

yea, I just finished updating client and server. rebooted 15 min ago - stuck. just restarted 6 min ago, came up fine and just got logged back in.

Best I can suggest is to just give it some time. You could try troubleshooting various things, but unless you're on a dedicated server, there are tens of thousands of players who may be trying to reach their servers right now. Not saying something isn't wrong, but even if you did start troubleshooting, you may get false results if their servers are just overwhelmed.

looks like it isn't related to Wine or Windrose.
ok i installed the windrose dedicated server and copied my old windrose server folder over the steam one. And not let it overwrite any files. Started up the server and it works

With the update I'm getting errors related to my world. (R5BLIsland[ # ]). We cannot play on our dedicated server now. Everyone else using this host is working now, but something broke with the fixes. Will be very upset and put the game down if we all have to start over.

Anyone know a solution for not being to connect to multiplayer? I can play on my offline/solo mode no problem. but when trying to host a session or join my buddies server, it never works. I get trapped in a never ending loading screen. I've tried uninstalling, moving the game to another drive, messing with router settings. this is the only game I've ever had this issue with.

Windrose does NOT play well with it.
So if you’re experiencing crashing or performance issues and you have configured Windrose in Process Lasso, try changing that to see if your problems get fixed.
I personally was experiencing crashing every 5 minutes and found out it was Process Lasso that was causing it.
After changing it, I am no longer experiencing any issues.

I had to update both this morning, and I'm in my server just fine.
In this case I used my clean and working backup. No changed world settings or write protection. But now the server is greyed out after just updateing the server thats the acutal situatuion
if your friend didn't update the server, or steam, and is in them right now, he should shut them down and update, then rejoin.

If it has SteamWorks it virtually always hooks to running Steam Service, which is not even needed for a dedicated server (i.e. run the server without Steam client).

FYI this is not a "server file" update related issue as much as it is a corrupted manifest or files themselves
Force_install was never a problem at setting up the server but maybe now?
While it shouldn't cause any issues, you still should follow the guidelines.
worst case you could maybe try backing up your world and settings, remove and reinstall the server?

Yesterday playing on the same windrose server I'd get about 200ms ping (normal, I play with friends across the world , and I expect some latency).. but everything seemed fairly smooth and just normal latency things yesterday, it felt great considering. So today I updated the server and client, etc, and when I play on land I have the normal latency and expected play, but as soon as I try go on a ship (especially turning the ship or ship combat) the ping spikes up to 2-3x. It's made the ship travelling really janky compared to yesterday / after the updates between then and now 🙁 Anyone encountered something similar?

This is actually an bug with steamcmd lately and not windrose specific. You have to delete the steamcmd cache, the serverfiles and then retry. Copy your savegame to a safe place and copy it back after the update
I haven't, just checking the server logs it does start spamming Slow Task warnings. Not sure if that's coming from the host side of things or the game 😅 but yeah, I'm guessing the server must start hanging.

A restart is required. Every server also has an automatic daily restart configured (at night time of the respective region).
You can also ask the owner to give you guest access to the server so that you can restart the server in the future.

If you were like me and used steamcmd to install appid 3041230 and run the server from there, appid 4129620 is the server direct update and wont actually update your server. I found it better to do a fresh folder with the server appid and migrate your serverdescription json and saved world folder. easier updating as teh server files don't need a login to steamcmd.

ooh I see, I though this was caused by the errors, didn't quite understand how the server actually connects to their or steams servers and that the update caused crashes instead of just going unavailable
they have a backend system that facilitates connection information between players and dedicated servers. That's how you can join with an ID instead of IP/Port/DNS
my server crashed overnight and never came back up properly. I saw an updated client in steam, then updated via steamcmd on server but now when i try to connect shows a client server version mismatch.
maybe you have to run a new steamcmd update again. Mine came a bit later than everyone elses

However, your server can still be, and should of course be behind a firewall
Having a backend service facilitating connections isn't a bad idea in itself as it does take away some of the complexity that usually confuses regular gamers (IP address, ports), and doesn't necessarily mean it makes your server any more open/insecure
I mean unfortunately so far it sucks I haven't been able to connect for me and my brother, I think I will refund the game until the co-op problems improve at this point 😭
yeah my idea was making it more of a lan server like other games do but we made it work so not such a big deal
The bad side is when the developers don't want to support the game anymore they can, and likely will, kill the backend service.
Other games have done this before (Rend) and that practically killed self-hosting
You could attempt to change your DNS server settings to 1.1.1.1/8.8.8.8 and see if that helps you out with any ISP blocks

make a protonvpn account, go to downloads>wireguard>router configuration, select the closest country (or your country)>generate config and download

you can try it on something you trust, like "test-netconnection www.google.com -port 443" to see if you are able to connect to their website port. It's slightly better than Ping because it checks the actual application port. And Ping can also be blocked many times.

Lower settings, would be about the only thing. Do you meet the requirements? Need to have more than 16GB RAM installed first off as game needs 16 free. Check make sure your GPU is within the requirements too.
If you have a Nvidia Card could try Studio Driver instead of Game Ready. Been some issues in other community with Game Ready, this game seems to work well with Studio Drivers that is what I am running.

Those ports might be too close together could be the issue. Or are they the default game ports? Ports are one of those things I never change just use defaults but if running different games at once can be an issue too if they all use the same.
Example 27015 is used by a lot of different games such as Ark and Icarus by default.

Windrose dedicated server is not like other servers where you need the public ip adress for others (or self) to join.
The server connects to a server from the devs (with a combination of the persisent server id and the invite code),the players enter the invite code, their service does the handshake, done.
Demo is correct to not open files, sorry. I can move it to a VM and run it but the suggestion to change p2p client is correct first. There are a few options. Setting the IP to 127.0.0.1, 0.0.0.0, or the servers own internal IP (I had to do this to join my own server locally as I run it on Docker)
192.168.x.x is an adress in your local network. That will never be reachable through the internet, as it exists millions of times world wide.
127.0.0.1 is "localhost" - that is your server, in your case. It's my server in my case. And so on. Just don't temper with the value of P2pProxyAddress 🙂
