in theory you can build a cave anywhere .. screenshots 2-6 are back from the demo as i realized that my system cant handle the large box i build for a 2nd one. If you build high enough and use the 2x2 stone foundation, they stop going to the ground - with this you can build the ceiling if you build high enough and if you go from the outsidewalls to inside and maybe use a beam or a stonefoundation if above all turns red without support and just fill in 1x1 stones and stonestairs and walls

Having constant raids and having to play tower defence on your base would be a PITA. But a quest or two where you have to defend an NPC hiding at a base of your choosing would be pretty cool.

It's not much, but I'm finally happy with how my 2 storey, turreted workshop is coming out as the center piece of my fortified homestead. Guess I'll start upgrading the other buildings soon enough

@brazen canyon OK here it is! In the Southeast USA there is a restaurant chain called Piccadilly... well.. Here is Crocadilly! I wanted it to look like it was literally made of swamp materials, and I had an excessive amount of plant fibers so it's mostly made from that. Did a bar, kitchen, a wooden walkway leading to the building from the beach, and there are four live crocs down in the pit below and since there is no bonfire, there's no trouble spawning them.

I had a couple DD designs. 1 that I still use is a glorified hangar, the other had 2 lg spice refiners, 1 lg ore refiner, 16 death stills, 1 million units of water storage, and enough chests to support a lot of stuff. One night a group of 4 of use managed to collect half a million spice sand in like 4 hours and get all of it queued and processed within 24 hours. that base was a beast to haul in and out and I was thankful that we got containers and the ability to transport vehicles intact.

I'm basically building on my starter island, but I see the circular one to be crowd favorite by many miles.. There's only so much you can do, but in the end, it's about your own creativity and capabilities. I suggest starting on a smaller one to get inspirational experimentation for some items and once you've done that, you should pick the fitting island to complete your dreamworks.

Each map is randomly generated.. you might have one or not.. But in all likeliness there won't be 2nd one.. But it's not 100% impossible.

The ring island is one of the blackbeard treasure chests PoIs. It's got a chest in the dead center of the coastal jungle center, with an outside ring of cliffs and mostly Foothills land. It will always be 'close' but there is variance between each world.
Kinda like the island that has a giant rock arch. Some of them have the arch completely in the water, some have it completely sandbanked.
