Yeah you lose the "Grid" whenever you work with those abstract angle sums

You need to put a platform out from one of the walls, then walk the stairs down hugging the side, rotating to match the angle of the wall the stairs are up against. you may need to place beams to get correct snap points, but essentially you're snapping the outer/upper corner of the stairs to the bottom/outer corner of the stairs above it

Your base is better than the wide screenshots can tell. Taking screenshot is an art in itself. If you want, I can come by to check it in details.

For pier clutter, I would look for DND 3d printed clutter miniatures so you can get an idea on how crate and barrel composition look like and replicate what you feel would work on which space.

It is tho a shame that we do not have the retangle crate that you find in the POIs, the one that we can sit on .. that crate would help a ton when making these clutter piles

our base has everything sorted by the original region it comes from. so regular wood, clay and plant fiber plus the products of those are all in that region, indicated by a boar trophy and a dodo trophy, hardwood, sulfur, etc, is in the foothills indicated by a goat trophy and a wolf trophy, tar etc, is in the swamp indicated by a croc trophy and the trophy from the altars. we also have a section for alchemy supplies and armor and weapons, these are indicated by the normal signs.

I can't take credit for that idea though. That came from @lavish grail and it's been working brilliantly for us

You have to make sure the pillars have good foundations underneath of them. I build out into the water typically with 1-2 extra pillars in depth.

Think part of the reason, it just looking okay, is because you are lacking decorations. Might also want to try and break up the style, like a different type of wood floor, under some decoration areas or the like

i had issues with lowering terrain and then building over it in regards to npcs spawning in foundations, might be an issue, might not, just figured id say something. Most likley might just be due to me sinking the camp fire in.

Id recommend breaking the campfire and replace it. Then click campfire and re assign them to camp

if you hit the edge just right it take full chunks n same with flatten you can build it back up flush

Whe you fast travel to your base with your ship, it always docks on the same spot relative to your Ringbell. So you fast travel, the build a pier to the curre4nt spot of your ship. And then every time you fast travel with the ship it will be docked on the pier

nice idea with the sunken pier. You could try the triangular roof straw pieces to get more random shapes on the edge of the missing parts of the roof

The Salty Tale of Aed, Charles and The Sea Witch.

Aed was relaxing at his base when to his horror The Sea Witch showed up for a visit. From his armoury she grabbed some of his best weapons and some fine clobber to replace the rags she was washed up in from the ocean. Then she wanted to craft some stuff so we went copper mining, chopped down some wood and sat waiting for the charcoal to burn down and the copper to be minted into copper bars.

They then thought it would be a good idea to get used to domestic life together and shaped up against each other for a bit of a brawl.

Then of course The Sea Witch wanted help doing a few things on another Island. So Aed took the Witch out in his flagship Big Bottoms to show her what it was like above the waves. Aed demonstrated to her how to get the crew warmed up with a few shanties and how to fire off the ships guns. Unfortunately, he must of been taken over by a mild madness as foolishly Aed let The Witch have the helmsman's wheel, which resulted in Aed having a near cardiac arrest and The Witch crashing her Big Bottoms into Aed's dockside pub at 20 knots. After this The Witch was restricted to driving only a boat ... preferably her own boat.

Of course their adventures involved a lot of waiting for The Witch to go through her handbag.

Eventually, after much sailing in wrong directions, Aed did his complete nanna and wouldn't let The Witch pilot them anywhere on any form of vessel whatsoever.

After some time their friend Charles washed up at Aed's and they had to refit his weapons and attire which involved more copper mining, charcoal burning and copper smelting and more waiting for this to finish.

Their combined adventures on many islands involved encouraging The Sea Witch to make many jumps across spans she had not any confidence in making. For one of these jumps her lack of confidence in completing she was quite utterly correct. She never did find out what was in the chest on that ruined watch tower or claim the booty for herself.

At one point the Witch pulled her musket on Aed, at which point Aed was forced to assured her she was nowhere near as ugly as she was making herself out to be. This brave and untruthful act may of saved his life.

The trio finally repaired and floated Charles' ship The Ranger bringing their fleet up to two ships. In the near future they plan to refloat The Sea Witch's ketch Not Drowning Waving to bring their combined fleet up to three ships. Once this is done the Dread Pirate Richards days are numbered as the trio plan to fill his hide with lead to avenge the sinking of their ships and the death of several crew mates.

hope it helps gives some ideas for you i basically incorporate stone walls into existing structures and land so it blends in with everything and can access everything fairly quickly, i believe in function as much as form.

if you want to take screenshots without your character in them place 1x2 walls (I prefer the double tall wood plank wall section) unsnapped right where you want to take the picture from and face your character against the wall with your back facing where you want to shoot. turn your camera around and turn the hud off and you'll have a clean screenshot without anything obstructing it

Decided to fix the radius on my lighthouse and noticed Primary: Pillar (Mahogany) and Beam (Mahogany) are great for more precise snapping points

yeah it's the best building system I've played with. A couple of tweaks and some stone floors and it'll be perfect lol

most people build up, I found that if you start by digging out your foundation, you can dig pretty deep in the earth and make something nice like a roman bath or jazzy place of your choosing 🙂

then just add stairs going to your main floor
