Neo-Roman for the build language with what touches of Gothic I could implement. Second build of this one, the original's save became corrupted and as it was built as a memorial, I felt wrong rebuilding it brick for brick lol

Yea, I wanted a place for the smoke to "escape", and a chance to use different roof degrees. I'm working on a dock-town with only early-game materials. I haven't unlocked anything past what you see here - so in the future this town should feel less advanced then future islands.

imo, it depends on your playstyle and how much you wanna build. you can build a perfectly functional and safe base in the foothills but it is more dangerous than the jungle. now, walls and bonfires seemingly have stopped all enemy spawns in my foothills base but the initial set up of said base was a fair bit of fighting then terraforming. not trying to discourage though, id be picky about the location and find something that has resources unique to foothills somewhere nearby so that farming things like iron arent too big of a hassle. but theres no wrong answers!

LOTR/GOT is very high praise, thank you. Also, waiting till you unlock all/most of the building tiles is the smart way to go for sure. What I did for resources was buy a ton of natural resource merchants in tortuga and just ordered stone/wood by the thousands.

Really loving this game and its building system!
From the moment I set foot in the Foothills, I found this cove right next to an Iron Mine. I started with the docks and the house at the top of the hill (inspired by ChiselChip's starter home!) It's now expanding into a whole port town with buildings inspired by Etholdir, Curtis Completes, Ralkius, and SupportPlayerKay.

I'll decorate more as the main and filler buildings get placed. And Eventually I want to rebuild the fort overlooking the harbor into a true bastion style fort.
Loving everyone's projects, and wanted to show the start of mine. Back to farming wood! 🤣

Reminds me of this Swedish restaurant in Wisconsin called Al Johnson's. They have a sod roof and keep goats that they let up there to graze when the weather's nice, as a tourist thing.

Doesn't fire prevents them from spawning? You can showel a ditch around spawn and just build up the the walks like its a house cellar or basement. Will they spawn on top of building?
