You'll lose some of that height you're trying to gain due to the ground on which you're building going lower. But might work nontheless. Looking forward to your next attempt, that first one was already mostly impressive 🙂

So you want your roof to stick out a little from the building, here\s what I do. Put a 1x1 floor at the corner 1 block down, turn off snapping and put a stick in the middle. This will help things line up nicely.

tnx 🙂 The ground will not be lower under the middle of the ship - i will just dig arround the ship to make it look like it is in the water for a good part (or hopefully will get it look like it does). And in the middle the pier will go up just under the upper deck to support the masts from there

You know what would be a great idea, is re-occuring quests for the players.

These can be like defending a ship on your side, or doing cargo runs yourself.
Treat it like AC Black Flag where you could send a ship on a mission, and have those "legendary ships" to battle like AC Black Flag had.

And since they have the artifact as the main story questline, I don't think they're too busy grounding this in realism. So we could introduce more sea boss threats like the Megalodon, Kraken with their own spin to it. We only have the drowned, but I'm sure they'd implement skeleton enemies, or skeleton crews as well. Just a lot of possibility to this game when you don't have to worry about grounding yourself in actual realistic pirate stuff.

All I care about, creatively speaking, is creative mode(unlimited resources) and freecam mode for building. Regardless I think it will be fun but those are high on the wish list 🙂

Posting this here for future reference: when ship customization comes in, anyone here who wants either pixel art of their ship (and also optionally wants to spice up their ship) can request art from time to time! I've mostly just created this art for myself, but it looks like this server is the perfect place for others to spice up their ship as well. These are the examples I have on my desktop, but I have a good personal portfolio saved up over the years (Schooners, Barques, Brigs, Galleons, etc.).

From what I’ve seen in the demo a lot of building mechanics are the same as SoulMask, and I made some insane designs there

Tbh I find that after the first 6 hours or so (basically the tutorial you cover in the demo) farming really isn't that hard

You get a lot of stone from mining ores so you never really need to go out of your way for it

And once you start taking ships and sailing the seas you'll pick up hundreds of flotsom wood every like 10 mins

I got extremely lucky with the perfect starter island. has so much beach front. it sticks out off rhe island haha strip of grass and trees and beach on both sides of it. and just a few feet away theres a massive beach front that goes from the water line that comes inland. had to place 2 or 3 bonfires for comfort level. but its perfect for having a lighthouse. port and the town all in one strip without bunching it

The one you have to beat as you go along the main story, if you killed a big guy in a cave and then reported back to dr galen then you've killed the right one, now you need to sail to islands until you find the next biome, it will look like a bunch of steep cliffs on the outside with visible grassland valleys in the middle, occaisonally there will also be big avatar looking trees in it you can see from far away, once you get to that biome find the biomes trees (not the big avatar one) and cut them down to get hardwood

flattening seems to take the height as it feels like sometimes and raising ground to flatten that gets blocked in a bit too large of a radius from structures. any structures.

One thing I noticed, which might be the issue. It is trying to make a square even though the tool is a circle.

When I got to an edge and was raising, it makes a perfectly straight slope in the circle as it rasies.

the way we went about it?
Pier foundation submerged so that character stands roughly chest-high in water.
That way, digging deep enough is possible while not starting to swim (too often)

add and remove foundations / floor pieces to get access to all the submerged dirt.

and it works, looks like the key is hard-coded in the game, meaning it does not recognize the German input. So I had to install the US language pack and when I wanna hide it switch languages with Shift+Alt. Then it works. I guess that might be worth a support ticket with a plea to let us rebind the key (doing that now).
