Another thing I'd love to see is more enemy factions. I understand that the game lore states that Blackbeard became super powerful but it'd be cool if there were other enemy factions like maybe british or spanish navies. Could make the East Trading Company flag work as camouflage

Use beams. Attach a beam on parallel to the wall's edge, then rotate the next one 15 degrees and add 2 snapped to the previous beam you added. That way you can add a stone foundation snapping to the beams to make a 15 degree turn. Helps with making circular structures as well. You can then take off the beam if you don't like it and boom

Just to clear up a little on game development, as many often wonder - why new features like more shanties and other content instead of bug fixing, etc. Well They are bug fixing, they are working on optimization. The thing is not all 50+ people can all be working on that same time and each person has their own specialties, specialization to the field. Often when one part of the team is ready to proceed, they can't because they are waiting on another part of the team to complete their portion that is needed for them to progress. This is where other content comes in, to keep them busy working on the game design instead of like construction workers with 8 standing with hands in their pockets while 1 digs with a shovel and one operates a backhoe. So often other content gets worked on to keep the game flowing, even adding shanties which is also in demand - so it takes care of two areas at once 🙂

Fair. You know that, players dont. Thats why most games in EA have roadmap with planned features, acknowledged bugs that need fixing and are in the works etc. Its hard to comunicate what is being worked on if you dont communicate at all as dev. Looking at steam forum it is the main issue. People seem to be waiting on edge for any news and there is pretty much nothing shared. Thats where im coming from. Shanties seem cool, but its a niche feature in survival/exploration game. It doesn't shed light on what is happening with game. The contests, the thank you's. Its all cool but it doesnt bring out the vision of devs for whats coming. I think its fair opinion and expectation of EA game to announce content and have roadmap. Price is irrelevant as some started mentioning game is X bucks. Thats why my reaction is, "well, maybe next time". Check on ping and its usually nothing related to game or minor stuff like shanty.

I meant more signaling with the colors. The Jolly Roger was a symbol that they weren't there to kill you, just take your stuff. So that ships would be more likely to surrender. If they were out for blood they let you know via the colors.

Here we go. Wrote specific lyrics for Windrose and had some AI create a song out of it. Kraken has my full permission to use it😁 Just don't use the AI generated audio. I simply used that to give an idea on how it should sound 😛

Fishermen's Friends are also pretty good and a very friendly and funny bunch of guys. They did a shanty-singing workshop at Broadstairs years back that I attended.

I think we need room for 'Officers' on all ships, with larger ones allowing for more of them. You could only have one of the same type of officer per slot, except First Mate which could let you have two of the same type of officer.
Quartermaster, Doctor, Cook, Musician, Navigator, and so on.
Each would enable mechanics for the ship while they're present.
A musician would add instruments to shanties and boost crew morale, making them fight harder when it counts.

Then just layer the member of the crew who are there together. Would let it scale for ships with more crew, and make it feel more like you have something truly spontaneous and unique.

You don't need songs from the public domain or even license some other known songs. If you want to distinguish yourself, write lyrics specifically for your game so it becomes "Ah, that was from Windrose", instead of "Ah, I remember this from [anything else]"

I'm not a fan of ai either, but I wrote a bunch of shanties for my D&D campaign, and Ai did let me suddenly have a crew full of rough hardy dudes, that I wouldn't have been able to easily get sung otherwise.
