yea i think thats what some of us need to remember. for those of us literally growing up playing video games? sure, this stuff can stop posing a challenge after awhile once we understand how to play it. but for those who havent, it can be much more daunting of an experience. we all have that advantage of having a foundation of fundemental game understanding. we all can be like "ok, this does this, this does that like other games... check, check... blocking... yup. dodging... ok, good good!". those newer to playing games, especially more involved intricate games like this, dont have that understanding built in.

Combat system is early access. Content is early access. Game is in early access. With the sales hitting 1.5m+ the combat will go through some development like most early access games. You can see the soulslike inspiration in the combat system. But it is still early access.

What muscle memeory? It's easier to just react in time to dodge. Seeing the attack a few times makes it just easier to predict the correct timing. Muscle memory is something that happens over hundreds of repetitions.

i remember assigning mental input combos to get to specific spells in a 10-spell loadout for example - like hold up to return to 1st spell, tap 3x for great soul arrow, hold and tap twice for homing soulmass etc.. lol

all this while needing to do the inputs "claw style" since can't take thumb off left stick

yeah i tried crimson too but it really needs long time investments and it needs to be continues. the game is really good but you wont feel the same satisfaction in 1-2 hours playing it versus playing windrose for 1-2 hours. bro finding that one good items after clearing an island for 20-30 mins feels so rewarding. the first time i was able to handle boars was really fun then a wolf killed me. i laughed so hard ahahah

Also I'm currently figuring out whether or not players get different amount of XP based on when started the game. My chara I started playing with right at launch reached 15 with multiple incomplete quests and 6 incomplete swamp POI, yet my 2nd one has done every POI (except 5 ocean ones) but only missing few quests... hmm. (it's level 14)

it depends on how many POI's and what type of POIs you get. also it kinda is random because the islands are procedurally generated. i discovered this cause i was trying to cram the whole game in 1-2 hours per day and i was able to finish the game in level 12 then i looked at my map and i had tons of things undiscovered.
