Our characters drown, I know historically Pirates ironically wasn’t good swimmers but this is a Pirate game. Sea of Thieves you don’t use stamina to swim. Assassin’s Creed 4 you definitely don’t use stamina to swim.

I think a good way to make your NPCs walk around is to consider which workstation they're linked to, then place other things somewhat nearby that they like to use, like beds and chairs. It will draw them to wander to those things to sit and sleep, then back to work again.

People get mad when I say I would like some Aska-like features. In that game, you can assign a worker to go to the mine and work, and even assign them weapons or other NPC guards to deal with the monsters in the mines. You can also have gatherers and hunters who would do things like fight wandering monsters and animals, and collect things in ruins. I thought that was what they were going for, and maybe they are but haven't gotten to it yet, but people seem to not like my hoping for it.

Now that I can't agree with. The 'boring stuff' was and is going to be a constant part of the game. If all you wanted was adventure and shooting and such, why not they give you unlimited ammo, an indestructible ship, infinite life and let you go on about your business? I get wanting to cut to the 'fun' parts, but the game isn't quite that one faceted. Being able to hire people to do it for you would kind of cut it out, but still require some management, I think, and thus still require interaction. Just making it so you spend all your time shooting things and collecting loot, and only stopping to spend your money on resources seems like it would very fundamentally change what the game is.

The one thing I regret is there doesn't seem to be anywhere you can listen to JUST the rain in the game. Everywhere you go the sound of the sea follows you, on two different sound channels no less.

But If I have to actually go to the mane to dig up the ore, or scrounge for sugar, which was THE ONE SINGLE MAJOR STAPLE OF THE ENTIRE CARRIBBEAN ECONOMY, then the mechanics are just there as busy work. I'd rather spend my time doing something else. This is my game time, and not my 'do the house chores' time. I'm playing because I'm trying to avoid the 'house chores' 🫣

BTW You do have unlimited ammo... on the ships, and I haven't made a single repair kit in days and days (weeks?). So long that I had to look up what steel mails are for, because my storage is full of them.

lol. this suggests you're not spending time doing that, and also that you think pirates never had to do landlubber stuff on occasion. I mean hey... you CAN go the trader route, and I'm not mad at your idea that everything should be available through them. But a more complex game is more rich and immersive, I think. They could make the workers simple by saying 'you hired them; occasionally they turn over X amount of Y resource'. They don't actually have to travel or haul stuff, just be a resource box you could open once in a while to get stuff out of.

A lot of people say they would like the game to feel more alive though, which is where my Aska concept comes in. NPC in game doing stuff would cover that.

I find gun work great on goats, since they will just slowly walk up to you, giving you plenty of time to shoot them in the head.

For the wolves, wait for them to run at you before swinging, and watch for counterstrikes.

For the big goat, it's much the same but be ready for it's increased range.

For the red backed wolves, watch for their dive attack(?) they will pin you and cause bleed.

Then you have to take seasonal weather and when the Spanish Gold Fleet sailed, and what route, and having an entire fleet of ships and an army of pirates... It would be a completely different game. Honestly, I was expecting Windrose to be like Valheim with Pirate, which is mostly is. I got sick and tired of grinding Valheim for resources too. Once you've raided your 10th Sunken Crypt, I start to get really sick of it, and because I need the iron, I hit an bottleneck. Either I cheat or I quit the game, because raiding a sunken crypt for the umpteenth time is just monotonous. It's not how I want ot spend my gaming time.

I could see a game which is more like a cross between The Witcher Wild Hunt and Stellaris, but as a Pirate in the Caribbean, but this will never be it.

I was playing with a friend on a server, and when I tried to go back to my own world afterwards, I couldn’t log in – either the game crashes or it kicks me back to the home screen. Has anyone else had this problem? I should add that we were playing on a server with mods that boost drop rates.

giving a boss tons of HP doesnt make it souls like. Boss fights when recorded have no aura, it feels static. slow. extremely telegraphed attacks from players and boss. It all comes togheter in a very "unpolished" feel

I think so. Cause they exist but as it semm not as a seperate asset. But could be easily done by cutting existing assets and implement them. So this would be sth that would not take toooo much work

i did but bloodbourne boss fights looks amazing. They have bigger attack variety, are followed by cool music and their design is bigger than life

I can show you the console command to get you resources, but you may grow tired of playing the game, because you get everything you want in an instant.

the punishing "mechanics" diminish extremely fast with gear upgrading, removing all death-or-life scenarios before upgrading. The curve makes little sense.

I keep the Reliable Musket in my inv too - useful for starting encounters, but I find it a bit boring to just stay far away at all times

On my first playthrough I crafted and upgraded every piece of gear to max (as high as possible) before moving to next biome... every weapon, every armor, every shield, tool... everything. Never again

nah, see... I don't mind doing this busywork to a degree. I'll mine and sail and fight as needed, as long as it doesn't get too tedious. That's why I don't mind farming and such in this game.

If you’re only gonna use swords then just rapier bleed and poke every so often to reapply stacks

The trick is to move closer to them and give them chance to swing at you before they get a 3rd eye socket

Skill has far higher... highly skilled player can kill anything with any weapon, but avengers level skill issue player might struggle to kill a dodo with level 15 weapon

Exactly. If it was just skill based, it would be more fun long term cus u would need to keep on edge. This way upgrading gear feels like the game is asking me "are u bored from playing pretend Dark Souls? Lets skip that!" 😄

no boss drops loot directly, and the rewards for the 3rd boss are not finalized since the 4th region doesnt exist in game yet
