someone has to host a world and be there, and others can join

So basically a dedicated 24/7 server, on a piece of (old) hardware.

Yeah, that would basically be "the coop host going to sleep and letting the game run" 🙂

But it is possible, without hacks or stuff alike, with the given tools that come installed with the demo, to setup a real dedicated server. It is actually not hard at all. There's a DedicatedServer.md in the games directory which explaines most stuff rather good. With some basic networking knowledge it's not too hard to get up and running.

I kind of expected the tree trunks to be there when I logged back in, somehow thought that it was granted or something, but my only other experience is Valheim - resources stay where they are dropped until they are picked up or forced to despawn.

i just did it again - cut trees into trunks (not gatherable wood), logged out, logged in - gone. So I guess this is it.

i guess if it happens again, randomly delete a file from appdata, then verify. take note of what file you deleted, and if it fixes the issue you know that file is the only one you need to delete and verify to fix the issue. this may allow you to save your progress. if it werent just a demo it would be worth more sleuthing i think.

if you know where the map and pirate save data is then you could wipe everything but that and see if it works

but the bug would need to happen again to test that

the saves arent located in the appdata so you can always delete the entire appdata without deleting the saves.

No pvp wasn't why it was changed by itself, it was a combination of removing pvp for now - shelved to revisit it possibly. The game went from free to play with Crosswind to Buy to play and the scope went from a mix of co-op survival with mmo like elements to just a survival game. Was a mix of things as to why direction of game changed, not just pvp.

Gonna go on a tangent from this: Ship types. From the demo, I feel like it is implying a horizontal kind of progression from small ship to big ship, with progression being, get better ship from the last before. Will this be the intended progression experience for that? I personally love to see ships having certain advantages over other ships. Sloops being cheap, easy to manuever, and faster, while frigates or higher would have more durable hull and more guns at the cost of speed/maneuverability and at the mercy of wind, on top of more expensive investments and repairs. Although, having players have ship of the line tier ships or man o wars might be a bit much.

The issue for me personally for that is how slow it would be to make sailing feel tedious and unfun. Definetely gonna need a balance between speed and firepower, while also including the depth of strategically choosing a ship that suits your playstyle.

Just parry a few times and enemy becomes staggered/stunned for multiple seconds to give you free hits.
