Sometimes for memory leaks just pulling memory out after machine off and blowing the bays out real well with air and resetting them can solve a simple connection issue causing that.

For example when spring hits - we know there going to be lots of pollen, followed by weeks of rains, by the first wave of mosquitos..... When we say summer, everyone knows if you step outside for more than 3 seconds your cloths going to be stuck to you from humidity and the mosquitos then come in droves, In Fall you know Hurricanes are a serious threat and you don't play with warnings, and by then mosquitos are so tough you have to smack ema dozen times to kill em - from Sucking too much blood from the Marine and Army stations.. Winter - Nice cool comfortable days, no mosquitos, You start crying as Spring approaches because We only get 1 month of Winter lol At least that is how it is in South XD

I lived in Denver Colorado for awhile, very familiar with lots snow and blizzards.

you have your spring season, where you get rain, you've had rain so long you are just waiting for sun - just a sniff of it. Sometimes you get a small bit of sun and then a freak snow l- but mostly rain. no bug cause it's too wet and cold

Then summer! yah! And the temp start to rise, we go outside for 2 months and have all our out door activities and we crowd every event ..the temp reached upper 80's and we groan and want the rain again and talk about how hot we are while everyone in the south laughs at us.

Then fall - glorious rain to cool us off, and we all look forward to becoming hermits in our house cause we are exhaust from going out and doing all the things.

Then winter - cold - dark - more rain. And after awhile we day dream of summer with it's perfect temperatures that were never too hot.... but hey it's perfect season to play all those games you never got around too.

One pattern I noticed, or I guess getting nit picky about, is how ship combat would play out. It gradually becomes an overseas donut back and forth battery brawl. And that's even with their sails shot up with chainshot. Blackbeard's helmsmen are secretly stuntmen from Need For Speed.

i agree the combat needs some polishing but for a demo it is rather good, and who knows maybe if we do get drowned ships they can be harder by having big gaps in some spots so your cannon balls cant hit that spot

ship modifier conditions based on damage could be cool. The chainshot to cripple the rigging was interesting. And then them doing that to you would make it tense, and would probably break the expectation of 'go to ship and shoot it with no consequence besides them pounding your hull'.

yeah and what if they add sea monster encounters each one could be different, like oh no the kraken has a shell protecting its head but wait if we hit the weak spots enough times we can hit its head instead of its just his lower body

LOL thats the dead zone made for demo, nothing beyond the initial 3 islands. In Alpha I was able to sail out for an entire hour and back again a different direction. So there is a lot of area to sail and explore in but now a lot more islands than the 13 we had in last Alpha.

For me it isn't the pirate aspect attracting me, it is the fact that when you unsnap you have NO LIMITS to how you can place and overlap blocks and that means pure creative freedom. Something none of the other build games does (that I have played).

If you layer enough wood you can make it look all one texture. You lose the triangles shapes for the floor but it won't be obvious.

My tower has two sides that are two straight sides, then curves the other sides and visually you cann't really notice that, the side with two straight is where my door is. But my circle is bigger. For your size that circle looks darn good but you are right about the door issue.

yes it's worth playing the demo. It have 3 islands and you can play the demo all the time to ea coming later this year. The save will not carry over to ea so you will have to start over again in ea.

The demo is free, and it's a good way to see if the game will be for you before you spend your money on it. I just wish more games would do this. As for hours, it depends on how fast you run through it. I've been taking my time learning the game, and with about 15 hours in game, I'm on my third island, and still in the starter biome.

it's only 1 biome in the demo. The treath is not in there and you can't craft gunpowder. The caves will respawn every 2 hours irl. Trees will not regrow. And you can't do farming in the demo.

There are several flaws and basic things that are missing, but it is a demo. There is sulphur deposits on the islands used to make gunpowder. But you need an iron pick or better to harvest. No iron in demo.

yeah if i remember that correctly the recipe was tied to something else, so it doesn't unlock if you have the stuff for it. Something like it's tied to the first boss and getting a pickaxe from that guy. not entirely sure anymore. has been a while haha

since it's tied to something else they couldn't give it to us for the demo without ruining other parts. So we're stuck with collecting the gunpowder from the bad guys and chests.

mayens and aztecs were pretty big i think - and i am not sure which ones were around when the europeans came. but i think whichever one it was, or both, were big when the europeans came. they probably did engage in either war or diplomacy with other tribes to become big empires. and in america itself there were many different tribes with different ideas and structures. some were kind of peaceful and expanded through diplomacy only is my guess. others were more war-like.

when you design a game that only is fun with other people, you run into one of the classic problems. especially when population dies, everyone sits around waiting for the game to populate, yet no one wants to be the first person playing solo, that will motivate others to enter the game and play... and even if one person plays solo, they need to do it for like 2 hours before a second person considers joining, and it just becomes hard to grow the pop to get to the amount that is fun based on the game design.

so if you make a multiplayer game, you need to really design it to work solo otherwise your game will lose longevity eventually lol

it actually reminds me of the recruitment problem, for guilds or anything really. you recruit someone, maybe you work and as a solo person can get 10 people into your guild a month. so lets say you successfully do this up to 40 people. that's 4 months. then the next time you get 10 people, 10 people quit. so you are still at 40 people, because every 4 months 10 people quit. so your guild is essentially forever capped at 40 people. over the period of 2 years, you could have recruit 240 people, but still only have a 40 person guild - and then you think if only everyone stayed? we'd have 240 people right now.

obviously the way around this problem is to somehow improve retention - very hard. or to increase the amount of people doing the recruiting. though still you run into an issue of there being a plateau, maybe the server you are recruiting on doesn't have enough people entering who are interested in joining a guild anyway.
