Actually if anything them letting it be self hosted has actually been a big benefit as beforehand if you had someone's invite code you could just go and steal literally everything when they were off or online, and no PVP meant you couldn't even fight back either

i would rate this system probably equal with valheim on some level, but also better. and yeah the only game i can think of with a better building system are voxel games like space engineers 2 potentially, and enshrouded. hytale could probably compete in its own way, but a slightly different game entirely it is.

my only issue is that the build objects have clipping issues.

There is a disassembly bench in the game, it was turned off for the demo ( some items break down to other things that unlock recipes not present in demo). It should make a return after Early Access. For now you can drop them on ground in a pile and dig under them to make em go poof, or load a dummy Server up to dump on when you wish.

Also was not ever going to be a full mmo, was going to have a survival game and co-op, up until Tortuga where you'd have mmo type elements. Meshing those systems together is a tremendous amount of time and resources. Would potentially extend development time to years more just getting the systems to work together, and adding pvp into that would also compound that. The game not only changed focus direction to pve co-op, but also model of from free to play to pay to play. This also allowed the game to be done much more rapidly. Will have to clarify that with the other mods as we have never been told we were in a beta. We will request the Dev's to clarify it as well. We had 2 Alphas. One in the Fall of 2024, and one larger one in Summer off 2025. The demo's are also not Betas. To my knowledge the Early Access will be the first beta.

Valheim has been able to host servers up to or over 100 people at once to semi create that MMO feel.Hopefully windrose creates that genre of multiplayer sea survival pve craft games that others compare to in the future

Valheim also has a very low GPU footprint

They stress tested 20 internally and the mod group tested a smaller number, so numbers are possible. But we currently do not have dedicated servers and it needed a bit more optimization and polish. So for the demo it was kept to 4. What those numbers will be on Early Access we and the Dev's have no idea at this point. So will just have to wait and see.

Those of you doing views and building. The / key is the hide UI. Try being on ship at Harbor and pressing F for larger view from Water side. Standing in front of a tall object like a pole hides your character from the frame. In build mode for couple tools press Q.

Hopefully when the game releases it has DLSS etc. 13900k with 96gb ram and 3080 12gb getting 90 fps on low-medium 1080p (and not even at full render) XD that's almost as bad as a RX590 8GB got in the initial Cyberpunk release at 1080p but it runs native 4K RT GTA Enhanced at 50-80 fps. Anyone defending that doesn't know tech.

As example 1440p 60% render using 290-300W of a 3080 12gb when capped at 61 fps. On low-medium. That's not good. Demo is wildly unoptimised so hopefully they fix that, currently terrible compared to other indie games like Sunkenland that manage 3 digit high-ultra 4K without comprimising render scale

for games like this, i dont bother with anything above 60fps. higher FPs only matters if i want smoother or faster visuals in more competitive games. and even then, im running off old monitors and have limits anyway

I go to 61 or 69 fps to ensure 60 fps is met, some games fluctuate 59-61 if you put 60, plus there is a visible difference between 60 and 69 fps which imo is worth it, for the quick response with movement, anything past that definitely unnecessary for these games. What matters is visual fidelity 🥲

There isn't really an 'allow' or 'deny' in a SP/locally hosted game, unless they add layers of anti-cheat to make it a bit harder, you will be able to mod it as much as you want. Now the devs "supporting" it and actively developing it for easy mod integration is a different story and would require them to put extra resources/time into it which i expect they won't for EA

While there's 1m wishlist for WR and assuming the game will sell for $30 or more... But I do know Stream charge 30% of a company's first 10m revenue for hosting their game and after 10m in revenue then it'd be 25% charge. So, if Windrose Crew makes 30m+ in sales revenue then Stream'd take about 8m. Windrose Crew also have to pay for publisher fees, unreal engine royalty fee, taxes, marketing, and etc.. I'd presume after all is done and over.. They will make about 12m-18m in net revenue depends on the fees, taxes, and etc as well

I believe there's right mouse button to remove it.. The tooltips are there on map

sometimes hovering over certain stuff or reading it, will give you hints. for example when getting close to trees, stone and such it shows you what you need. just play around a bit

33 is quite a lot of money for a game in EA...
As I stated previously, I haven't bought a game that's over 30€ in decades...

I can't remember where I read that average wishlist to purchase is closer to 30-40% than anything else... and 1.0 is important because that usually translates to 30-40% more of those turn to purchases...

and that during EA you usually get that 40% after years and years in EA, and immediate translation is at around 20-25%

So you never count your Dodos before they hatch...

well hopefully they make more than that. but i dont remember steam charging 30%, unreal charges 10% i think if they game sells over 1 million? i forget
