if I remember correctly, the alpha test did feature different types of ammos you can use on your cannons, I saw a streamer uses chains shots to slow down another ship he was attacking, so I guess this confirms it

It had two normal and bar shots, bar shots were great at taking out the sails
the fighting and gameplay itself is good, I think it only needs some polish, the animations still needs some work

I thought it was a galleon at first but I could be wrong, galleons has 3 cannon lines 2 in the middle and 1 at the ship board

the game is in alpha stage, unless it reaches beta, its a bad idea to release it now, it still lacks a lot of features and polish, and it will make the Devs look bad to release it in this early stage, everyone is tired of unfinisihed games and rushed products so its better to wait and give them some room to slowly build the game into a better stage to then release it as early access once its nearly finished
its a pirate game, so expect a more pirate themed weapons, although I did see spears and halberds among the weapons you can craft and find, so its still early to say which weapons will be present in the game
the confirmed weapons so far:
sword (mostly pirate sword)
rapier
spear
halberd
musket
pistol
there's also mythical or ancient weapons that seems to have unique abilities or weapons art (like elden ring), I might be wrong about some of the info so maybe wait some of the devs to elaborate on that more

hi! I was wondering what people think about the acceleration and responsiveness of the ships. I never played the alpha so i have no idea how to ships actually behave. But it looks like they accelerate, brake and steer really fast. Same thing i dislike in assasins creed black flag. I played alot of seo of thieves and i love the handling of the ships over there. So for the people who played the alpha, how do ships handle in crosswind?

Itd be cool to get somth like that but with upgradeable/farmeable gear as well - Since SoT is very good for skill based pvp but u dont have that sense of progression there imo.

Personally as a streamer I'm a bit upset about it, I think a nice big competitive openworld would be unique for this sort of game
Its one thing getting friends and viewers to join servers, but I think the random interactions would make this game solid

community could always host a pvp server, community servers are always full of people
What I mean is that games (especially small team indie studios) would have a hard time getting balance right for PvP, getting good content for PvE if they were trying to do both. I don't have anything against PvP, I just think PvP games should have that 100% baked into the design
The only way I'd accept PvP in a game like this would be if it was optional. I knew the forced PvP endgame in Dune would be bad, and I'm sad that I was correct in my assertion no matter how many people told me I had no idea what I was talking about.

The issue is that many people don't want you to be able to opt out of PvP, because that removes the "joy" of ganking you and destroying your fun.
We get so many reports on the Enshrouded Discord about people connecting to other people's worlds and blowing up their builds. It's honestly annoying.
and those kinda people are bullies. if they not happy with optional pvp, then they are a problem

this is why I think a server toggle is better...it just keeps conflict from happening...if you play on a pvp server...expect pvp...if you don't want that play on a pve server

I will say that the PvP toggle in Valheim has an utterly hilarious side effect that you can exploit to great effect.
well, Valheim wasn't really built for pvp so bugs will be buggin
It's not really a bug, per say, but an unintended "feature". Normally I'm mining metal you got the weight limit pretty quick and have to use a cart to move large amounts of metal. Carts are difficult on uneven terrain, but what you can do is load up one player's inventory to the limit, have them turn on PvP and then you can harpoon them and drag them at full sprint with no issue.

in all honesty I'd rather the devs get the pve game to a very solid point before they do any pvp work, but if they can do both I think everyone would win, but I haven't seen a dev yet pull that off...and I've been gaming since early Ultima days...bad pvp basically killed Ultima Online

I hope they have some insanely difficult pve last tier pve enemies like ebony knight in skyrim to keep game entertaining at the end as well š

When u reach lvl 80 youre approached by the ebony warrior u need a lot more than a stealth archer to take him down aha

Don't worry, the developers want to focus on PvE first and foremost, and they're leaving PvP as a possibility for the future.
That's precisely why pro PvP players regularly come to Discord to express their frustration.
Of course, in the end it doesn't really matter. The truly inventive ones will find ways to "create" PvP on their own terms.

pvp did not kill uo , the fel/tram patch killed uo , it literally made pk's tank thieves , mage thieves useless , the nthey did that faction war crap and took hero/evil system off siege perilous and killed that pvp system too...osi did a great job of killing thier own game.
swg believe it or not had oen of the best pvp system on any game i've seen , go to an npc and flag overt ( pvp ) , have huge wars on some planet , then 5 min timer to turn it off , combat medics would instantly flag if they tried to drag a person out of the combat area to a tent to res/heal. if you werent in pvp and tossed in a grenade to a pvp target it instantly flagged you.
but again , the dev sompany ( sony online ) did a great job of killing thier own game and decided that swtor game was a btter option than swg..

The Fel/Tram patch was all about PvP...or shielding the masses from the gankers...that was the whole point

And in the process of shielding , the nerfed about 20% of their players charactors ( or more ) and people like me just up and left after years of playing , when I ebayed my account I got $3500 bucs for it , I sold it off before alot of other players did and was able to get a premium heh , at that point siege perilous hadn't been nerfed yet but it was coming, a couple months later they did the same thing to sp and took away the hero/evil system to boot.
Valheim "pvp" is atrocious, the inherent multiplayer lag in that game makes pvp irrelevant anyway. Dedicated servers rely on driven people to organise, pay and run the server and large game populations. Just enjoy what the game is and will be as trying to get it to conform to your wishes will end in disappointment and unfair bad reviews

Will the world be infinite, and procedurally generate?
One massive world was what was in the alpha, traversal from island to island had fast travel as an option but you could opt out of using it all together and just sail from one spot to another. It wasn't infinite but it was like 12+ islands large, as for procedurally generated it's hard to say, I know they were toying with the idea but had to give the alpha set seeds due to it being unstable with randomization but I believe in time they could fix that

The reason why I asked about teleportation is cuz I saw in the demo video, the person playing teleported to ashlands. Maybe it was a beta thing that will change later when the game finishes?

Hmm, lemme check the demo because it could be a few things, in the alpha we had a voyage system that was basically just moving to a new map but done really cleanly, it could be that they want to expand on the voyage system to give players even more islands and content which is why they had to voyage to the Ashland's in the demo video

It also actually looks like the ashlands is a lot bigger than the islands we typically had, so it could be that it's behind the voyage to help the fact that the ashlands might just be that big

I know of a game called Ylands, its also a sailing game but its world was structured in a way that you teleport from one region to another, it just didn't feel right and each region was small, but the world was big, so it was just constant teleportation and not much sailing.
I just hope this game wont make that same mistake.

Probably won't be the same, as I said the alpha instance was massive and had so many islands, the voyage system doesn't look like it's being used here to replace those islands but rather give us newer larger places to explore, epically since the only time it was used in alpha was to voyage to the old version of Tortuga
Re-watching and going over background details the new ashlands really doe look absolutely massive
I also notice Tab Targeting still requires you to un target then re-target, I really hope that gets updated to let us swap targets with like Q&E buttons or something because that was the only thing in combat I felt was over cluncky

In elden ring, you can easily switch between targets by simply moving your mouse in the direction of the target, it was very smooth and I really liked it.
Maybe this game should do that.
Maybe, was just saying the ability to swap targets should be considered because even something as simple as Q&E buttons would be an improvement over having to toggle everytime

Just a thought for the PvP conversation. If there was an option for mp in the same instance, and an option to turn off friendly fire, that would be a cheap and easy way to make PvP available. Pretty sure imaginations would take over from there.

It's your own server and your own settings
How many players are allowed on one server? Would it be possible to build cities and have wars or trading with eachother on the same server?
the actual number of players you can have in your world for coop is still not clear, in the alpha test you could have up to 3 players if I remember correctly
you can build your own base on basically any island, but PVP is not part of the core game currently so perhaps the trading wars will be against other factions in the game (npcs)
I am waiting patiently for another chance to get back in the game. The game looks like a good pirate adventure that skull and bones canāt itch.

this ship was one of the most coolest and badass ships I've ever seen in anything related to pirates, and they ended up removing it completely it didn't even make it to the final game as far as I'm aware along side many other cool characters and ships, that got replaced with wacky looking cosmetics

I just read the recent dev blog (mid august) and was curious about something: How present are the undead? Will the be one of the main enemies in this game or will we fight mostly human enemies (PvE) like the navy or other factions? I am not against the game having undead and i think it fits the pirate narrative well if it is properly implemented. But i am just a bit afraid of this being a bit more focuses towards magical elements than the actual pirate experience of plundering, exploring, upgrading the ship, raiding forts etc.
I would really appreciaze if someone could give me a bit more insight on this matter, i havenāt worked through all the info availible so maybe i overlooked something.
I personally hope that the encounters with monsters and normal human enemies will be somewhat equal, I want to fight as much monsters as humans
Kinda curious, was it actually different like 10-20 years ago. I gamed alot in the time period between halo 1-3 and i feel like games in those days were made way more out of passion rather than pleasing investors. Not sure if its actually that way or if its just because i was way younger back then
you're not wrong, and thats mostly has to do with games being something that wasn't enterally a mainstream yet, most studios back then were still small and starting out, and many of them were people who made games because they love games, but after gaming became a very mainstream thing and can make money just like any other big business, thats mostly where things started to get worst, because big shareholders and companies now want a piece of the cake, and those are people who don't play games and possibly don't love games, but they want to make money
and you can see many of the old OG game studios falling for the greed slowly, studios like blizzard and Bethesda, bioware, bungie, and believe it or not ubisoft used to be a very good gaming company as well, now they all became a shadow of themsleves
the only OG studio from the old ones who is still kicking and doing well is Valve

Game will be singleplayer coop, it will be playable offline, and can host dedicated server if you want
there are water dragons in chinese lore but the way they implented it, wasnt done well imo. Games like valheim make more sense when they make the creatures closer to being loosely base off actual lore.

It's not about it being a bad game per say, but if you look at the very big games that are making tons of money like Fortnite or genshin impact, these aren't really bad games, but these are games that aren't specifically designed to be good but to keep you playing Imo, whether its the micro transactions or the gooner baits, the majority of games are designed to make you pay money more than being an experience that you go through
Its also that the big majority of people who play games don't really care about quality as much as we might think
The average person wants to come back from work and turn on their console and shoot few things and go to sleep
The culture and society as a whole is no longer focused on quality, and its not just in games

sot is a great game, especially the early say 200-400 hrs but the best thing about it is its dynamic pvp and if you dont improve and or like pvp the shine wears off. I started as a pver and finished as a pvpr and loved it, such a great coop game that different skill levels could succeed at

@shadow swift originally they were shooting for end of 2026 for release, however due to a slight change in the direction of the game it could be much sooner š Being it is now a Buy to Play game ( which I'm super excited about - support the development on the game), there will be an Early access as noted here #āannouncements message As to when - we will not know that until they announce it so keep checking. The game will definitely be in development through the fall for sure so most likely we won't see anything until later in the year or Q1 of 2026 - We most likely won't see anything of price/or any possible pre-orders until closer to time.

@shadow swift It hasn't been removed - just FYI - just put on the backend to be addressed later if they implement it. By not developing it at the moment they can fully flush out and finish the pve - the two being developed at the same time prolongs the game developement and causes system conflicts. If they choose to add it in as they originally were going too - it will be much easier to add it in once all the other systems are complete. But, just to note - most people loved the game as it was and it has since become much, much better. I am a pvp/pve player and I totally loved the game as it was without all the new content and game changes that look amazing. They definitely captured the feel of a pirate game perfectly as it was - just needed the additional content, updates, etc. - From what I've seen they have far exceeded what we had in the Alpha playtest. That being said - I'm sure everyone can enjoy it - it has challenging gameplay, great building system, nice crafting, lot of Quality of life systems, stunning graphics and sound, lot of humor, engaging and fun.

Got home and helping my wife with making the Jelly (BTW in our area canning is all but a lost art but we are older and my wife was raised in the middle of the country in Indiana). It still surprises me that you have sheep walking the streets. Nothing but cars here. It would be cool on one hand but a pain on the other.

I played a lot of SOT been wanting to play something that wasnāt so PvP centered but pirates this looks great
Crosswind is much closer to Valheim/Enshrouded than SoT, it's just the setting really.
Oh Wow!!!! I always envy people who can make their own jelly and other stuff! I live in the countryside and there is a sheep farmer not too far away from me, but he ain't careful enough with his sheep so they suddenly are around me house eating the grass etc. I live in the highland. Next closest village is 20 mins away.
true, I played SoT during alpha and beta and for a good solid years. However, when it was taken over by children screaming etc, I left. I still have the brave vanguard sail, title etc. But it ain't the same anymore. But Crosswind looks absolutely amazing because you can also build your own harbour, house etc. It's something unique I have been awaiting for especially in a pirate game.

I have not encountered any screaming children personally lol, usually no one even uses their microphone unless they are someone toxic and just wanna say random gibberish
My problem with sot is that the content is just not good, insane server issues and for some reason its really hard for them to make simple pirate cosmetics (to be fair, they started to add decent stuff as of recent but my main problem is still the content). The mtx shop never misses an update yet the gold shops barely get anything.
Crosswind seems to be what I wanted sot to be so thats good, I just hope the character creator gets improved and we get a cosmetic system. From the new gameplay footage they have released recently it does seem like they improved the water which is nice, that was one of my biggest issues

really wish that since they are heading into more pve multiplayer experience, they implement your buddies being able to do stuff around the ship too instead of just being passengers
@winged wind The Dev's have said they eventually want players to be able to do some things on the ship - but that is a completely different ball of wax when coding and working with the AI. I'm thrilled at the much improved ship interaction from nothing to multiple crew doing task on board. It may be added later once the initial game is complete for release, may not - time will tell. But from what we understand they would still like to make that happen at some point. So that being said - what they have now is amazing, can't wait to see what they do in the next several months š

is there anything new known about the food system btw that I missed? In the new gameplay footage the timer is gone and the healthbar looks to be split in two. I'm not a fan of the Valheim food system, I'd prefer if you could raise your hp with your armour or through your skills, so if this means they are changing it somehow then I'd really like that. Otherwise this could just be some dev tool they used to have infinite big health bar while showing new footage
@winged wind your armor rating does affect your hp/damage , however food buffs are a big thing too for various buff types, some stamina, etc. It was a really fun system to play with and I really enjoyed it - we havn't played the new system yet.
I just dont like being on a timer until my hp bar reduces to almost nothing
It used to be only valheim style but with the addition of the skill system it looks like it might be a mix of both, food buffs also used to buff the numbers for different weapon / attack styles, like a taco being useful for using a rapier etc, I assume the skill system mixes this and gives you a better starting point while food gives you a better end point
I get that I just have to carry food with me, but this game has a dark souls style combat so its not that hard to die, I feel like the food supplies will get depleted because of this

Hi, hot take: I donāt like the stamina bar. I know itās practical since itās right in front of you, but having a HUD element in the middle of the screen is really distracting. Is there any plan for a customizable HUD? At least the stamina bar should have a traditional option along the edge of the screen.
A customizable HUD would be very nice - as to what extent* that would be if implemented don't know at this time. Will have to wait n see what changes they make over the coming months.
I didnt mean like fully building on a ship, but it would be nice if we could expand storage with crates or chests
@zenith pawn there was talk about at some point being able to decorate and skin the ship to make it unique to you - as to what that all involves is unknown at this time till it is revealed.
Thanks for the reply! I really like the art design of the HUD overall itās clean and looks great, and thankfully the game doesnāt constantly bombard me with numbers and stats. In similar games like Ark or Soulmask, I hate that when I just look at a wall I built, a full codex pops up in the middle of the screen showing who built it, its HP, which clan it belongs to, etc. If I really wanted that information, Iād prefer being able to check it by holding down the interact button and choosing āshow detailsā, that would be the most convenient solution for me. But going back to the stamina bar, Iād really appreciate having a traditional option as well. I never liked this type of implementation in Enshrouded either.
Most people have been used to the Stamina bar - Valheim, Mines of Moria, Enshrouded, Crosswind all share a few similarities - no clue how the options have changed or what is available until we get to dive back into it again.
I know Iām asking a lot of questions, but please forgive me, Iām just really excited about the game š . As far as I know, the game will be PvE, at least in the beginning. That raises a few questions for me regarding base building. Obviously everyone will have some kind of base, if only to store chests and workbenches, but will there be any purpose beyond that? For example, will there be AI-driven raids against the base (like in Conan Exiles or Soulmask)? Also, I noticed the Bonfire limits the buildable area. Thatās typically a PvP mechanic to prevent a large clan from taking over half the map. What would be the point of this in a singleplayer game?

The beginning area you have is massive in size, lot of islands, lot of exploration, lot of quest. Your island areas are safe from anyone coming in an doing anything to them aside from those you invite in to your server. Base raids would be fun and give an added element - not sure if they will go that direction or not. Much has changed from what they were going to do, guided a lot by overwhelming feedback from the players. PVP isn't removed entirely - it was shelved to decided later if/or when they'd implement it only after the base game for pve is done. For game design, making a pve and pvp system side by side opens cans of worms that delay development. Would be much easier to add it in after the other is done first if that is what they plan to do. Your area is yours and PVP or not nobody can come i and do anything to it - even if PVP is put in. If/or when they put pvp back in - it will be beyond your building area. Initially the idea was for the pvp to happen in areas you'd choose to enter for pvp after you reached Tortuga. Then that was going to be where the MMO elements would come into play and you could meet up with other players, do Faction wars, pve raids, pvp raids, world bosses for the community, etc. The game has shifted a bit and we will have to wait to see what they have in store for us bit by bit - What we know is it is going to be a super fun game experience and really looking forward to it.
Wow, my friend, thank you for such a detailed answer! Iād definitely like to see some kind of raid mechanic even in PvE mode, but not as a mandatory feature. Instead, it could work in a way where, if the player feels their base is ready to withstand an AI attack, they could place a trigger item, for example, a treasure chest anywhere inside the base and then the AI would try to capture it by attacking in multiple waves.
As for PvP: I think it would be fairly easy to create separate PvE and PvP zones, especially considering the game is mostly made up of islands. On PvE-only islands, players could build and live peacefully, while on PvP islands they could battle each other both at sea and on land. This way, the game would be fully enjoyable for those who prefer PvE, but the PvP areas would still offer extra rewards by having rarer resources.
At this time there are no raids - that was the original direction. Will have to see where it goes going forward as things have changed some.

Hi everyone. I discovered this game through youtube playthroughs and I am beyond excited to play this game. That said, I have a few suggestions regarding weaponry in the game, based both on historical combat during the age of sail and to make options (and thus replayability) and fun and playability priorities. Would here be the right place to write about them, or is some other place more suitable?

Ah I just found this game recently and found out I missed the closed alpha test. Iām so excited for this game because Iāve been dying for this kind of game! Seems like a dream game for me! And if it delivers on what itās showing than it will definitely be a top contender for my personal game of the year!
So question about the game. It seems like you donāt build the ship piece by piece modularly like you do a base, but more so choose the model then apply the resources to craft it?
Also do we know if another playtest is coming up soon?

Well dune was funny to me. I was not really following it up until launch because I never cared for the dune franchise. But I got to talking with people on Reddit who play tested it and asked if someone who didnāt care for the franchise would enjoy it. And they said yeah and the more I saw especially base builds the more I was on board and ended up preordering and eventually buying the special edition lol
My personal game of the year is a toss up between Dune and Two Point Museum. I really didnāt expect to love dune as much as I did lol

Dune for sure itched every scratch I needed on pre release and to this day for the most part, sadly theyāre dropping the ball in my opinion on content. New DLC building set only has 4 pieces and the garage door doesnāt even fit the new vehicle in it
Maybe thatās what happened. Maybe I saw it before and it was going to be an MMO so it didnāt interest me. Then after feedback they changed it to a small group coop experience like enshrouded or valheim and thatās what got my attention.
I much prefer the game loops of games that have small group coop than games build around running large guilds so Iām very excited about that

@solemn horizon was never going to be a full MMO, just have elements of an MMO in the areas past your own islands. Will have to see if they developed that later or not.

We are actually watching through the pirates of the Caribbean movies for the 100th time because my D&D group is playing through a naval/pirate themed campaign lol
So in the playtest previously and also based on anything the devs have said. Is ship building where you select the model, apply resources and it builds the whole thing? Or is modular like building a base but itās a ship?

@solemn horizon not modular no - you need the resources to have the ships. They made it to where the models are same for all - makes for much easier coding and for smooth AI mechanics. Later you will be able to alter the look of your ships to make them yours - how or to what extent? We will have to wait until their design is more flushed out and they reveal it to us.

I do hope they add some realism to naval combat. Not that it needs to be complicated or boring. The 1700s were a time when purpose-built warships seriously outpaced armed merchantmen (which in many cases had made up a majority of fleets before).
keep in mind it was just early Alpha - was no way near release - so I'm sure a lot will change from the Alpha to the Early Release.

The 1700s were an era where warships moved from artillery being there to destroy the rigging and clear the deck of an enemy vessel, so you could board and capture, to being absolutely devastating examples of firepower. But in that, purpose-buitl warships also started being built heavier and heavier, and the light guns of quick ships and armed merchant vessels could no longer penetrate the hull and damage ships of war.

How is it stuffy?
The intention was to give options for different playstyles while keeping classical pirate weapons and historical accuracy. Want to be Blacklbeard? Get a cutlass and a bandolier of pistolrs. Want to be Maynard (the guy that took him down)? Double-barrel pistol and a rapier. Want ot be a sniper? Fine-caliber musket, work to finding a rifled musket. Want to to do area damage to crowds of enemies? A blunderbuss or hand mortar. Making different playstyles and options viable in all parts of the game is good game design, IMHO.
That is one of the biggest failures of Fallout 76 in my opinion- when fighting bosses, there is inly really one viable build - max armour, max DPS. Stealth, sniping, VATS and other builds are close to useless.

Even their original vision had it being less of an MMO that SOT, also it's definitely an exaduration to say 95% was was to kill / PVP, yes there's good pirate games and a few movies out there where that's their intentions but that's also like, less than half the pirate medium, there's tons of pirate stuff out there not focused on killing or pvp

Why says you need to attack them to steal it? Chests weren't locked or instanced, nothing stopping you from stealing their supplies

To me, the appeal of pirates is them exploring different islands and looking for treasures.
Donāt care to interact with sweats at all tbh. You can also steal from npcs just fine, doesnāt have to be from other players.

I think people are tripping the fact that we get ship interiors is mind blowing, assassins creed iv is essentially single player and is one of the most fun games Iāve played. Tho co op is cool as you get to work as a team, however I wish there might have been somewhat of a pvp maybe even a friendly fire option in dedicated servers? No clue, but Iām not complaining, even with the devās current image, I find this game fills a spot/niche that has not been touched yet. Thereās certain experiences that seem possible in this game where I have seen it in no other

Someone made a post named "please consider this" in the feedback about pvp, and how they should really think about having it as an option even if now it's more server based like Vrising, which has good pvp as well. If you could add some messages to give the post some more, we might get noticed

early and mid game is full, very detailed crafting building and questing....endgame is lacklustre but getting better, all in all its a great game im still enjoying it even though ive endgamed everything, even started another character for a slower 100% experience but just be warned it drops off drastically in endgame presently
IMHO, PvE with optional PvP is the best long-term design decision, and I think the devs have gone the right route here.

Well gl to the team I hope this vision works for them. Obviously a game that mmo or PvP fans will ignore but I think the survival coop can grant them some success. Sad to see another team pretend to be a mmorpg to garner hype and attention from a broader audience just to cancel its plans
@ionic sun they have never pretended to be an mmorg - They said mmo elements , which was the goal once you were past your initial islands. There you'd engage in mmo type play , pve raids, pvp raids, faction wars. However due to overwhelming feedback in playtest. the pvp has been shelved for now - not removed. It is far easier to get a game developed without trying to simultaniously implementing pvp in with the ai mechanics on ships. After the core game is done - we've no clue which direction they will go, but it would be far easier to put pvp in once the core game is done. It is still early Alpha, so keep an eye on #āannouncements . I'm just thrilled they are going for an Early access and buy to play. The gameplay changes look amazing so far and I can't wait to get back into the game - it was super fun to play.

@regal flume For certain - this is Definitely not an Atlas Game, never was going to be. It is Crosswind. More of a mix of Valheim and Black Flag. That has been said from the start. The conquering islands with your boys you can still do - just not going into other players instances and destroying theirs. It is still possible that pvp will come back once the game is done - it hasn't been removed - just shelved for now as it is so much easier to develop pve first, then add pvp in later. Whether that ever gets added in or not greatly depends on player feedback and the progression of the game. Keep an eye on #āannouncements in the coming months, but this is definitely not a pvp game at its core it is a pve game, with possibility of pvp being added in at a later time if that is the direction they choose to or not to go š

I donāt know about you guys, but i vastly prefer doing co-op quests with friends as well as chilling on my ship/island and creating a cool pirate town. The idea that some rando can just come on my island to destroy my town, forcing me to be online 24/7 just to defend it sounds extremely annoying to me.
I donāt mind pvp being a separate part of the game for those that want it, but it definitely shouldnāt be forced on to everyone. I hope the pvp aspect will remain something you willingly have to interact with once the devs decide to add it.

@clear flax there was never any plan for your island areas to be raided - that was and will always be yours. The pvp/pve raid areas originally were going to be beyond Tartuga in an open world mmo style area - you'd willingly entire areas of pvp to pvp, wasn't ever going to be forced. likewise you could enter into the pve raid areas or faction wars as well. but with the direction change it is unknown if they will/or will not visit this idea after the base game is done. we will simply have to wait and see. I like pve and pvp, however I was extremely happy with the game as it was. It was really well done for an early Alpha. Super excited to see where it goes as I also enjoy the co-op myself too š
IMHO, the main problem with PvE is keeping the game interesting after a while. When you built a base and explored and fought the bosses, what is left? ARK and Valheim both siffered from this. I have decxent hope the devs will be able to adress this.

Yea my plan is to spend most of my time in the pve zones and then occasionally venture into the pvp stuff when i want to interact with other players, wether it be to compete with them or to make friends or something.

interestingly, the original buccaneers were people who hunted feral pigs and smoked the meat and sold to passing ships. After a while they just re-domesticated the pigs. Bucaneer comes from French boucan - their word for bacon. So tamign boars and keeping them for food would very much be historically accurate. š

Preventing cheating and maintaining balance (especially when introducing new things that people would want as rewards, such as new andx better weapons) in PvP is like holding a cork under water. Sure, i t is possible, but you need to be holding that cork 24/7.
IMHO, the dvs have made the correct decision to focus on PvE and the survival part of the game.
I'm so in love with this game. I have not played yet though, but i have soon watched 50+ hours on Youtube. It's been so many years since I've looked forward to a game this much. ā¤ļø

I got a group of friends. We used to play Valheim, and we had a guy with a really stressful job, he logged in and jut got to fishing. We asked if he wanted to come on a raid, fight a boss. Nah, he just wanted to listen to us talk and fish to unwind.

@lone pewter the trade ships in alpha if you successfully boarded them would have trade goods you could collect. I imagine in the later iterations the types and amounts of trade goods will vary.
