Hello there and welcome. At the moment, the Devs have not decided on a monetisation model for the game so we cannot say for sure it will be free to play, despite the tags on Steam.

The current Alpha playtest is closing on the 21st and signups have been closed. There have been several key giveaways here but I believe there is unlikely to be any more so close to the end. We completely understand people are excited but there is likely to be other tests in the near future. Nothing is confirmed just yet so I would keep a weather eye open on #│announcements and #│game-updates

What's ppls opinion on naval battle? Should a ship which is sunk loose most of its treasure and resources? Making the play to disable and board a ship the play if you want the resources?

Perhaps a long respawn timer so enemy can claim the ship if they successfully kills or make crew surrender.

Also make ship repairs costly both time and resources.

Making the naval a bit more strategic and higher risk.

Perhaps if you kill and sink a crew which surrenders you get a score towards notorious Pirate and if you're more pleasant your score indicates you're not such a threat. Could also include bounty.

A very notorious crew could be more targeted by ai pirate hunters or perhaps real crews playing as pirate hunters for some sort of empire or company.

Ayee, but as a ship nerd Its the small things I notice. Typically on larger ships like 2nd or 3rd rates the wheel would be somewhat covered and not with a direct view towards the bow as the Helmsman would just take orders on rudder movements. So in reality the wheel should be down here.

However for gameplay since the player controls the wheel it makes sens to put it where the player can see everything

Actually @fast orchid with your building expertise you'll probably find a greater use for this. I was digging a trench connected to the sea to see if its possible to try and build a drydock type place. I reckon with the time and effort its entirely do-able. This took me like 20 mins? And I can somewhat fit the cutter inside

I don't want this game to copy it all but i'm really interested in adopting some of the melee system from last oasis into this and hoping there will be a lot of weight to the sword and other melee. I mean the problem with the flying grief was their escape ability not the fact that they could get into combat. It was the fact that they could always escape combat and you couldn’t kill them having some sort of kite system so that you can board an enemy ship is really cool because then you won’t be able to leave the ship and you’ve committed to the fight.

I'm gonna be real with you chief, most games that require an online connection, are not safe from piracy. At all.

Unless the game is almost entirely dependent on server sided architecture. Even then, people have scraped all the files from RuneScape simply by walking around, to create custom servers. So it's not foolproof.

I honestly wish I could speak to this more because I know for myself and multiple other streamers that I have watched and met through this game, is that they are very active in the Discord discussions and also in submitting bugs, feedback and also filling out the surveys that the devs are asking for which is in line for what they are looking for with the people that have the keys to alpha playtest. Unfortunately, I can not speak for every single person that has gotten a key to it.

That being said, trying to slander most of the people that are streaming the game isn't fair to those that are doing exactly what is expected of them so I would ask that you temper exactly what you are under the impression is happening with the game. Just as I can't speak to every person that has gotten a key, neither can you.

There was no slander and I named no one, so unless you are slandering me for saying what happened. Nothing I said is in dispute except that whether it was ok or not. Many streamers did draw out the distribution of keys to gain viewership, period. They could have easily have just unloaded the keys in go at the beginning of the stream, but chose not to. Some required other things to get a chance or better chance at a key. I don't receive the reports for your proof so don't ask me for it and if you really want it you need try offiicial channels as I am not an official with access to them once submitted.

I never asked for keys to give away on my streams because I average between 2-3 viewers every stream and I know if I put "GIVEAWAY" or something in my stream title, I would jump to anywhere between 70-100 viewers and yeah, I might be able to gain another 5-10 viewers maybe that way but I just didn't feel justified to ask for keys

why does any of that matter , you aren't here to "play" , we're all supposed to be testing for bugs and glitchs , so yes naturally if you happen to get in more of the tests all progress would be reset because optimally there would be other systems for us to test , can't really do that with current characters now can you

I don't see why it can't be both seen as play and testing. In interests of fairness and testing purposes states need to be reset so that other aspects can be "play"tested later.

it's pretty unrealistic to do a public test even with limited invites and expect literally everyone to be testing and some people to not just be playing the game and never giving feedback, just how it is. If you really want focused playtesters, you'd go private with a small group with more focused goals

I mean, I kinda get what everyone is harping on about. Over 20k people have access and the most on at once showed around 550. Time zones do factor in but I still think that some of the 20k are bots/key sellers

they been sending out invites to keep the server load as maxed as possible so it doesn't really matter what the concurrent/invited ratio is, it only matters what the server can handle ultimately
