Cautiously optimistic about this. Looks to be right up my alley for games I normally play.
Hearing free to play does give me a massive pause on excitement tho unfortunately. Can't think of many free to play games that are not horribly monetized to death, or have horrible things like limited time battle passes.
I would honestly be fine to spend 60-100$ on a proper quadruple AAAA pirate game if promises are kept and the game lives up to expectations

PvP yes, in specific areas - there won't be any point in which a player is forced into PvP / a PvP zone. No base raids. Each player has their own instanced island to set up a base on, so you can actually enjoy designing it, instead of everyone's base being honeycombed boxes 😄

Personally not entirely sure about what exactly the territory disputes might be, but would assume something in the open world. I know their vision is for players to have their own safe place to build as they please. I dint think theres a definitive list yet nor what will be available in the playtest but its a pretty comprehensive list.

Theres some info spread through the FAQ such as mention of sloops and Galleons. I would assume brigs as well. They mention different customization and what not so i assume we'll see different types of classifications such as small (sloop, schooner, yawl, ketch, etc)

Maybe not in the playtest and maybe added through the games life span but yeah. No exact list yet

They said playtesting slots are extremely limited because their global server coverage is still growing. My guess would be that they don't want to initialize a stress test on servers that they are still implementing for their first "public" playtest.

Not known at this stage. There’s not a great deal of in game cosmetics right now and certainly not in the way of special interchangeable ones like you’re thinking. It might change in future, It might not. It’s too early to tell

I was more so asking because I would rather wait for 1.0 to play the game so I can get the full experience the way the developers intended, but if there are any exclusive cosmetics for participating in these tests I'd like to have them to show off in the future. I guess we really won't know until later on

Personally I’m pushing to give the Seasoned Mariner Role on the discord to anyone that participates in tests before full release but that’s not gone anywhere just yet.

But for in game there’s only a handful of in game outfits that are more tied to gear progression rather than pure customisation.

We have very limited concurrent slots...but not everyone plays at the same time. And if 3 players play in coop, they actually take one slot. A lot of factors here tbh. I can't give you the definite answer.

that way a lot more people can participate in the beta and running the game offline instead

but if the servers is the reason that they're limiting the beta test to less than 100 players, I think it would be a better idea to just let beta testers try an offline single player client for now while they optimize their servers

they'll get a lot more feedback on the bugs/errors

im not against pvp but most pvp games are played with big groups who dominates a server and then it has no sense playing on your own on there.
i just love the survival and building aspect a lot, in Atlas with the taming it was a huuge plus because that could be done solo.
also loved the ship customization. so that was still enough to do as a PvE player
