that entire fight is planning ahead, they do the same thing in the same sequence at the same timing every time

So I'm confued by something that seems like a bug. If I kill something with deathstalkers mark on it I then get darkest night. If I stealth and then ambush something else I see it gets the 3 deathstalkers mark debuffs on it. However, I can't start using them at 5 combo points if I still have darkest night. I have to full combo point envenom to get darkest night off me and then I can start popping marks.
Is that intentional?
