so as a general statement, yes, professions make you gold, that's how you make gold, but in specific right at this moment if you have not started yet, you're going to be very disadvantaged
Probably the best thing you can do at this time if starting from nothing is just pick a popular craft (probably rings/necks/cloak, maybe LWing armor) that has a lot of buyers, tunnel spec into that (which you can maximize with the starting KP), and get the CraftScan addon and sit in town and just focus on that craft and gather commissions.

the only way i could get that boss to work was to reset the first pull, then have a pet class target the boss and pull him through the wall with like 2:30 left on the wall being actually taken down

In order to immune the the breath, you must be in the first second of cloak of shadows (“a moment of magic immunity”). After the first second of cloak of shadows has elapsed, the attack will hit you and no longer be immuned.
Alternatively you can use evasion to dodge the breath.
