• For Fatebound, sanguine blades is typically much better than Deathstalker. For this reason, if you can't maintain Envenom uptime anymore, you should build combo points, then reset your energy back to around 70% before maintaining again.
• For Deathstalker, try to stay under 50% as much as possible while maxing out Envenom uptime. Single target builds play vicious venoms instead of sanguine blades as well.

The reason we do this is to maximize uptimes and use energy more efficiently for Deathstalker marks/cooldowns. Staying under 50% leads to more envenom casts, which is more Darkest Night Procs. BiS lists are not helpful towards gearing yourself. In order for BiS items to truly be BiS, all items in the list have to be obtained at that level exactly, or else it doesn't make sense. Missing a socket for example would shift your stats slightly. You should always compare your gear through top gear or droptimizer instead.

Pre-raid or Pre-season BiS is especially not helpful, and we do not have any of them. These are absolute meaningless bait for gear that you will be replacing the moment the season comes out. Use Top Gear/Droptimizer to compare against your character

TLDR:Maintain max uptime on envenom

• For Fatebound, sanguine blades is typically much better than Deathstalker. For this reason, if you can't maintain Envenom uptime anymore, you should build combo points, then reset your energy back to around 70% before maintaining again.
• For Deathstalker, try to stay under 50% as much as possible while maxing out Envenom uptime. Single target builds play vicious venoms instead of sanguine blades as well.

The reason we do this is to maximize uptimes and use energy more efficiently for Deathstalker marks/cooldowns. Staying under 50% leads to more envenom casts, which is more Darkest Night Procs. For Fatebound, heads flips contribute damage regardless of if you're flipping or not, so this pressure to keep spending is lessened.

The reality is that unless you're a HOF gamer, you're going to be fine playing any of the 3. Pick the one you enjoy the most. Outlaw has the highest variance and is the most difficult to play. Sub is strong and requires a little planning. Assa is pretty consistent and doesn't have the same uptime requirements the others do. It also does great in sustained AOE for M+

BiS lists are not helpful towards gearing yourself. In order for BiS items to truly be BiS, all items in the list have to be obtained at that level exactly, or else it doesn't make sense. Missing a socket for example would shift your stats slightly. You should always compare your gear through top gear or droptimizer instead.

Pre-raid or Pre-season BiS is especially not helpful, and we do not have any of them. These are absolute meaningless bait for gear that you will be replacing the moment the season comes out. Use Top Gear/Droptimizer to compare against your character

Preferences currently are wrist/belt/dagger for embellishment depending on what you go for

Darkmoon Sigil Ascension (dagger) + Writhing Banding (wrist) is generally "the best" in raid, but has ramp time and is worse in m+
2x Dawnthread (wrist/belt) is generally the best in m+ and not far behind of Ascencion/Banding for raids. Equal in single target at 80% uptime

Craft a dagger if you're unlucky and don't get one and are down bad and crying about your pathetic little 580 main hand dagger. Put Ascencion on it
If you have a big dagger in your main hand already read the above and pick whatever you prefer

I realize "sim yourself" is the real answer, but I have a question about the wowhead guide. It says the stat prio is Agility >> Critical Strike = Mastery >= Haste > Versatility. But I was under the impression Haste was one of the better stats, and looking at the bis gear list, I kinda get that feeling too. Most of the pieces have haste, and even the crafted pieces are set to haste/mastery. Is there a reason for this, or is it just that at the start of the tier haste is less worth than the other stats, and that once we get more gear haste overtakes crit?

Couple things about this:

• when I make the bis list on wowhead, I don’t really look at secondaries aside from “oh that’s a billion vers, lemme grab something else”. Just not useful
• you already noticed, I suggest crit = mast = haste basically everywhere, but on the bis lists I craft haste/mast or crit/haste or random stuff that isn’t crit/mast. I actually do that by design to uh… I guess bait people into making better decisions. There’s a bunch of people that just stare at the bis list with 0 braincells and hunt down each piece (they’ll never get exactly those items at those item levels anyway). For those guys with 0 brain, I’m expecting them to see crit/mast (or not see anything), and go ape shit and just blindly copy whatever the bis list regardless. In that case they balance their stats a little better. And yeah it’s kinda misleading people but if you’re simming you don’t care for the bis list, and if you aren’t simming I’m helping you out a little by switching it up here and there so it’s ethical
