aight this question is actually just like a billionth time at this point, I'm gonna write one long answer to you and the regulars can reference back to it or something

Big question out of the way, is assa getting nerfed? Probably yeah.

Are they gonna be big? Probably no.

There's still bugs out that are bumping us higher than we should be (no I'm not explaining because they're fixed in legit 4 days and I don't want to cause a panic). Those are for sure getting fixed after race/on tuesday. The healthy thing at that point is to re-evaluate Assassinations position. (See Picture 1) looking at the average heroic player, spec is about 8% over-budget on overall, but it's much closer depending on the boss you're looking at. Tindral/Fyrakk/Smolderon/Igira are a lot closer than say Nymue. (See Picture 2), on average mythic for all bosses, it's also looking around 5-8% over-budget. But once again if you go boss by boss, volcoross sticks out like a sore thumb where assa can take advantage of the kill time by a huge amount, and it's much closer on the other bosses.

Yes the spec is getting PI simped out of its mind, and yes it can take advantage of kill times and good vulernability phases on bosses and such. It definitely can. But I don't think it's as crazy as people make it out to be, and on some of these bosses it's actually competitive to specs no-ones really talking about. The big 3 people complain about are BM/Havoc/Assa, but if you scroll through logs and dig through not the top 10 people in the world and shit. Take a look whats happening for a majority of the playerbase in heroic/mythic in the 50-60 parse range. What they actually tune for, don't try to cope that they tune for the liquid/echo/hall of fame raiders we all know they don't. You'll see things like Marksman hunter on igira, survival and enhance shaman, fury warrior, sub rogue, demo lock. It's easy to just go look top 10 and go "IT ALL ROGUE IT ALL HAVOC LOOK LEADERBOARD BIG ROGUE WE GET NERF", but it's a lot less clear in actual bulk of logs. Hell, if you go to high normal logs you start to see like arcane mage and devoker and shit.

All that to say, if I'm held at gun-point and someone goes "what are assa nerfs on tuesday", my answer is "some bug fixes, maybe a 3% nerf overall as a symbolic gesture, maybe a small nerf to an ability or two". The spec will be fine and it'll survive mostly unscathed. That's my personal prediction. That being said, I'm not blizzard, and I'm sure I'll wake up to 160 discord pings on tuesday regardless of how soul-crushing or inconsequential any changes that happen will be.

Fella i don't think you understand how this works.

OUR logs come from blizzard

as in their server/api generates them for us to read

not the otherway around.
Blizzards API is far more advanced than any text file we have is. as it has to physically calculate that damage in the game.
